India batter Iyer hospitalised with lacerated spleen

After suffering a lacerated spleen while taking a catch in Australia’s third ODI against India on Saturday, Shreyas Iyer is “recovering well” in the hospital.

Iyer rushed backwards to take a catch to dismiss Alex Carey and landed awkwardly on his side as the 34th over.

The 30-year-old immediately grabbed his side as he went to the field for treatment before being hospitalized.

Although confirming that he is “medically stable,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given a date for his return.

While playing in the third of their third international match against Australia in Sydney, Shriyas Iyer suffered an impact injury to the left lower rib cage. In a statement released on Monday, the BCCI said that he was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

“Scans have revealed a spleen laceration injury. He is receiving treatment, is recovering well, and is stable in his health.

His injury status is being closely monitored by the BCCI medical team in consultation with experts in Sydney and India. The Indian team doctor will evaluate Shreyas’ daily progress while he and the other doctor will be in Sydney.

India then won the series by nine wickets before falling to Australia with a score of 2-1.

Wembanyama makes NBA history as Spurs beat Nets

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Brooklyn Nets in Texas in the first game since the NBA’s first player, Victor Wembanyama, to surpass 100 points and 15 blocks in the previous three regular-season games.

With a 118-107 victory, San Antonio overcame a 26-point deficit to keep their unbeaten start to the campaign.

With nine minutes left in the third quarter, the Nets’ home team had a lead of 81-55, but a 26-7 run helped to reduce the deficit to 88-81.

The Spurs won the game, but a strong fourth quarter performance, including a 10-0 run, helped them.

In 36 minutes of action, Frenchman Wembanyama recorded 31 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and six blocks.

The 21-year-old, who was the top draft pick in 2023, has 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and six blocks in his three games so far this year.

Without James &amp, Doncic, or Lakers, they defeat Kings in a round-up.

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings 127-120 to record a career-high 51 points for Austin Reaves.

Reaves overtook a leading role in February when Luka Doncic and LeBron James were injured, surpassing his previous best of 45 against the Indiana Pacers.

Anthony Davis added 25 points and 10 rebounds to the Dallas Mavericks’ 139-129 victory over the Toronto Raptors, while James Harden added 20 as the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 114-107.

The Milwaukee Bucks were unable to stop the Cleveland Cavaliers from falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 118-113 defeat despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 40 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.

England pressure is unique in world rugby – Jones

Japan vs. South Africa

The job of England head coach is the hardest job in the sport, according to Eddie Jones, because of the relentless pressure to win every Rugby World Cup cycle.

England reached the final of Japan 2019 after almost seven years of leadership under Jones.

However, England only won five of its 12 Test matches in 2022, leaving Jones with nine months until the Rugby Football Union (RFU) can fire him.

When Jones asked whether playing as England’s head coach was particularly challenging, he replied, “It is, but that’s the deal.

You can’t complain about accepting that because you know when you start the job. You must just move forward with it.

You just need to make sure, mate, that you keep your head above water.

South Africa, the reigning two-time world champions, have won the previous two World Cups indifferently from the previous years.

The Springboks won seven of their 14 Tests in Rassie Erasmus’ first year as head coach. Across 2021 and 2022, their win rate was only 61.5%.

At the end of those two periods, they were ranked fifth and fourth in the world, but they consistently executed flawless performances in the Webb Ellis Cup.

Jones, who is now in charge of Japan, claims that England’s sacking of him came at the same time as a “no man’s land” between a group of well-experienced older players who had begun to fade and a younger generation who had yet to develop enough to take their place.

We basically stayed the same team at the 2019 World Cup, according to Jones, “the team I inherited from the 2015 World Cup.”

Some of those players are starting to quit by the year 2023. They are still excellent players, but they aren’t quite there.

Steve Borthwick and Eddie Jones talk to each otherImages courtesy of Getty

Jones thinks Steve Borthwick, who led England to victory in seven of their previous seven Tests and placed third overall in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, is successfully navigating the transition.

Steve inherited that situation and did a fantastic job organizing the 2023 World Cup, Jones said.

He effectively coached that squad and made the most of it. And he’s now assembling a different team.

Jones was taken aback by England’s two summer Test victories over Argentina.

He’s starting to develop a really effective style, Jones said. They played some excellent rugby against Argentina; they were both very patient, efficient, tough, and determined, which was all Steve had in common.

During the Australian’s most successful spell with England, Borthwick served as Jones’ forward coach, and the pair also assisted Japan in the world championship’s historic victory over South Africa in 2015.

The most significant legacy of his 30-year coaching career, according to Jones, was the 34-32 victory over the Springboks.

What is the rating? It’s the most crucial win, according to Jones, “probably in terms of the implications of that win.”

The 2019 World Cup was the catalyst for the event that Japan hosted, for the first time ever and the only time, reached the quarter-finals.

“That’s a fairly uncommon accomplishment for a nation outside the big eight,” the author said.

Japan was a little more difficult to compete at the 2023 World Cup, but it has allowed them to compete at the highest level and be in the top tier of the world.

We play Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Wales, and Georgia on our end-of-season tour, just like this year.

When I visited Japan in 2012, we met Romania and Georgia and engaged in a pick-up matchup with the French Barbarians.

“So it gives the players the chance to compete with the best players in the world, and it also benefits Japan overall from that game in 2015,” he said.

After leading Australia’s rugby world cup pool stage exit in 2023, Jones is now in charge of Japan.

His side take on South Africa once more on British soil on Saturday, ten years after that shock at Brighton.

In the match, Jones will take on South African coach Erasmus, whose openness and innovation are similar.

In 2007, I took over Rassie as a technical adviser, and I inherited his computer, which contained the most complex tactical information about the teams we were about to play, according to Jones.

He has always been a very analytical player about rugby and has always been on the lookout for ways to make the most of the rules.

Rooney says struggling Liverpool lack leadership

Media PA

Former England international Wayne Rooney claims that his team, defending champions Liverpool, is having a difficult season due to a lack of leadership.

The Reds are seven points clear of Arsenal as they lose four straight Premier League games.

Arne Slot’s side were thoroughly outplayed after being defeated by Brentford 3-2 on Saturday in a precarious opening nine league games against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

The five-time Premier League champion said the body language of Liverpool’s captain Virgil van Dijk and talismanic forward Mohamed Salah during their troubled spell was a “big concern.”

The manager and the team’s leaders must figure it out very quickly at this time.

Despite signing new deals, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have not, in my opinion, been truly in charge of that team this season.

“I believe body language reveals a lot about you, and I believe we are actually witnessing slightly different body language between the two of you.” If one of the top two players on that team’s roster uses inappropriate body language, everyone else will be affected.

Arsenal’s chances of winning the title now are at risk, Arteta.

Arsenal, who finished second for the past three seasons, appear to be in good shape to win the title, in contrast to Liverpool’s issues.

With three straight clean sheets, Mikel Arteta’s side have won the league’s matchups, winning 1-0 over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Rooney, the record-scorer for Manchester United, said, “The squad is good enough now, and I think they’ve had the experiences that brought them close,” but I believe they’re ready for it.

Mbeumo “resides at United,” he says.

With a 4-2 victory over Brighton, Rooney’s former club are also experiencing a resurgence, moving them up to sixth place on points with Manchester City and one clear of Liverpool.

Bryan Mbeumo, a forward, has scored three of his five goals in the last two games, a part of that success.

Rooney said the 26-year-old Cameroon international is now living up to expectations despite admitting he was unsure when United signed him from Brentford for £65 million in the summer.

You need him to be a United player, and he has what his energy, work-rate, and desire are. I admitted to being a little unsure, but I believe what he’s shown is that he belongs there, Rooney added.

Contenders flex their muscles as Packers ruin Rodgers reunion

Images courtesy of Getty

In the eighth week of the NFL, teams with flimsy Super Bowl credentials fought hard to win.

The Indianapolis Colts are now 7-1, but the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots are on their heels.

Running backs had some incredible days, including Breece Hall leading the New York Jets to their first-ever victory and Saquon Barkley helping the Eagles reclaim their favor.

    • Earlier, 4 days ago

Rodgers

In his first game against the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers insisted that he had history to play for, as winning would have made him the only quarterback to defeat all 32 NFL teams.

Instead, the Packers won their first game of the season in Pittsburgh since 1970, running out 35-25 winners.

After winning four MVPs and a Super Bowl for his 18 seasons at Lambeau Field, Rodgers wants to retire as a Packer. However, Love was chosen to take his place.

Love led four scoring drives in the second half while completing 20 straight passes, something Rodgers never managed to do.

The Packers look like contenders, but the Steelers need to get their defense in order if they want to compete, and Cheeshead fans who believe in omens will be eager to see the season begin.

Classy Colts continue to be the standard.

Only great Super Bowl teams like the Patriots and Broncos have managed to score 30 points or more in a 38-14 victory over the Colts, which is a lowly 1-7 victory for the Colts.

Running back Jonathan Taylor was the star as he added his fourth touchdown hat-trick of the year to Daniel Jones’ three more touchdown passes.

Taylor leads the charge in making him the first running back to win the MVP since Adrian Peterson in 2012. The Colts are 7-1 for the first time since 2009.

Pats & Broncos win five games in a row.

Bo Nix and Drake Maye, both quarterbacks, continued to excel as the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots both stretched their muscles in their fifth straight victories.

In their enraging 44-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys, the Broncos scored their most points at home since 2014 with four touchdown passes.

Dak Prescott and the elite Dallas offense can hang around anyone, but they can’t stop anyone in their defense.

Denver has only lost two games thanks to last-second field goals, which puts them at 6-2.

Maye overcame Cleveland’s ferocious defense to score three touchdowns in yet another impressive performance for the Patriots. He was sacked five times by Myles Garrett.

In the first eight games of the season, he is the only player to have a passer rating of 135 or higher and two touchdowns.

The Patriots remain top of the AFC East, but the Buffalo Bills are still on top after James Cook’s 216 rushing yards and 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers kept them in the lead.

Barkley leaves as Eagles retaliate.

The Philadelphia Eagles resurrect their recent comeback against the New York Giants thanks to Saquon Barkley’s monster 150-yard rushing effort.

After last week’s impressive game against the Vikings, Jalen Hurts added four touchdown passes after a dodgy spell, and the Eagles’ offense finally seems to be working.

Even though he left the game with a groin injury, Barkley claimed it was minor and needed a bye next week to recover. However, his breakout might be the key to the puzzle.

The Giants’ star rookie duo had a difficult night as quarterback Jaxson Dart was sacked five times while Cam Skattebo’s season is looking promising as he undergoes ankle surgery.

Jets claim first win of a crazy comeback

After a grueling 39-38 comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, the New York Jets finally recorded their first win of the season and it was a memorable one.

The Jets made it four this season, which is by far the most unlikely, despite having lost 135 games in a row when 15 points or more behind to start the fourth quarter.

Hall completed the final 15 minutes of the Jets’ first winning streak with a pair of touchdowns before throwing the winning pass on a crazy trick play.

A couple of unbeaten teams also won their only other games of the season, with Miami cruised to victory over inconsistent Atlanta and Baltimore winning against in-form Chicago.

Baltimore’s defense finally showed up in a surprisingly comfortable 30-16 victory over a Bears side that had won four straight with Lamar Jackson, despite the Ravens still having Lamar Jackson.

The Dolphins’ 34-10 victory over the Falcons was a surprise given that Tua Tagovailoa had only previously defeated them.

Norris has been through the mill – but this was a statement win

Images courtesy of Getty

Lando Norris said his dominant victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix has given him more confidence to defend his first world title this year.

After the Australian won the fifth race of the season at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Briton’s victory in the lights-to-flag victory in April, the Briton took the championship lead for the first time since losing it to McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri.

More than that, though, it was confirmation of a strong run of form by Norris. Since leaving the Dutch Grand Prix at the end of August with a fuel-line failure, he has reclaimed 35 points on Piastri in the five races.

Norris remarked, “It gives me confidence.” “One race performing well I don’t think means anything. I believe I’ve been good the last few months because I did two, three, or four in a row.

With only four races left until the season’s climax, McLaren has been the team of the year, not Red Bull.

The talk coming into the weekend was all about the threat Max Verstappen posed after three victories and a second place in the past four races had seen the Dutchman cut Piastri’s lead by 64 points.

Verstappen would win his fifth consecutive world title at the end of the season if he maintained that stature without the aid of a math genius.

World championship standings

The 25-year-old was in total control of the weekend from the minute he hit the track for the start of second practice, having handed his car to Mexican Indycar driver Pato O’Ward for the first session on Friday as one of the team’s mandatory rookie sessions.

One of the standout laps of the season saw him win pole. On the long run to the corner, he stayed away from the mayhem that was happening behind him and brushed off the threat of the slipstream from those behind.

The only time he lost the lead was as a result of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc cutting the third corner in the midst of his battle with team-mate Lewis Hamilton just behind Norris.

Norris vanished into the distance after Leclerc made amends by allowing the McLaren to pass him illegally on the way to Turn Four.

What data are gathered from this quiz?

This year, Norris has been flawless. He started his campaign with a win in Australia, but Piastri then took control of the season and had won four races before Norris took a second.

Norris was unable to continue driving because it was not letting him feel his need to be quick. However, he has slowly started working his way back into it since a change to the front suspension for the Canadian Grand Prix in June.

His win this weekend was his fourth since then. Only two have been taken by Piastri in that time, the last of which came after Norris left Zandvoort.

That appeared to be a blow to Norris’ hopes at the time. Piastri had been so convincing, so solid, that making up that sort of margin looked impossible.

Norris remarked, “You put that behind you, right? ” You simply concentrate on each race that comes up as much as you can.

” Every weekend’s new and you have a fresh start to try new things and try to do better than before. And I think I did it very well this weekend.

Piastri started to lose steam as Norris returned to form shortly after Zandvoort. Norris was quicker in Italy. In Baku, Pirasti crashed three times and jumped off the rails.

At first, there was a little controverse, as Norris slipped into third place in Singapore. But Piastri has been simply slow over the past two races in the US and Mexico.

“The last few have been decent,” Norris said. But there is still a long way to go, so I just need to keep doing what I’m doing and fight off some quick opponents. And, yeah, I think that’ll be good.

After the race in Mexico, Norris acknowledged that he once “certainly did” doubt himself at some points earlier this year.

“When the car was winning and Oscar was winning”, he said, “the last thing I could do was use the excuse that my car wasn’t good enough.

It’s as simple as that; I wasn’t getting to grips with it and finding a way to make it work. I’m finding a better way to make it work now.

After two challenging weekends where he has been a little off the pace, Piastri is now facing that feeling.

” For some reason, the last couple of weekends has required a very different way of driving, “said Piastri.

I’ve needed something completely different the past few weekends compared to what I’ve had working well in the last 19 races. trying to explain why it has been a little difficult.

After qualifying 0.588 seconds and seven places behind Norris in Mexico, Piastri spent Saturday night deep in the data with his engineers, trying to come up with some answers.

Given that he spent the majority of his time stuck behind other cars on his way to fifth place, which would have felt painful, it was about trying to apply them, even if he was unable to provide a conclusive answer as to whether they had worked. In reality, it amounted to a successful recovery and exercise in damage limitation.

In the end, today’s discussion was about trying some of those things, “continued Piastri.” Because driving the way I’ve had to drive these last couple of weekends is not particularly natural for me.

Andrea Stella, the team’s manager, explained Piastri’s struggles.

He noted that Piastri still has lessons to learn about adapting to different circumstances, noting that Norris excels in low-grip conditions, whereas Piastri’s driving style tends to be high-grip levels.

“In the final four races, no reason to think that one may favour one driver or the other”, said Stella, pointing to Las Vegas as the most problematic potentially for the team.

There are no issues with the track layout for Lando and Oscar in the upcoming four races. From a McLaren perspective, we need to make sure that we are in condition to extract the full potential of the car, as we have done here in Mexico.

    • five hours ago

Verstappen was feeling much more composed after a difficult start, but he rallied to finish third behind Norris and Leclerc, despite being so upbeat after winning in Austin.

Verstappen’s deficit to the championship leader has reduced – from 40 points to 36. But it was obvious that he had enjoyed Norris’ pace.

If you look at it that way, I lost 10 points to Lando, Verstappen said. I said before the weekend, everything needs to go perfect to win. And it wasn’t a perfect weekend. So your response is that.

“It’s going to be tough, but let’s see what we can do in other tracks. I’m sure there won’t be another weekend like this, but it still shows how slow we are in every situation. And that’s what we need to get a little more understanding of.

Norris, though, sees it another way.

“Max has caught me over what, really? ” – six weekends for sure.
