Injured Knight to miss rest of England’s summer

Heather Knight, an England batter, will miss The Hundred and will miss the rest of the summer due to a hamstring injury.

During England’s third T20 victory over West Indies on Monday, the 34-year-old former captain Knight suffered the injury.

In the 17-run victory over the batswoman, she was unable to take the field for the second innings because of her limp and struggled to run between the wickets at the end of her knock.

According to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), a scan on Tuesday revealed a “significant tendon injury to her right hamstring.”

The three-match one-day international series against West Indies, which kicks off on Friday at Derby, has added Alice Capsey, age 20, to the squad.

England’s bowler Kate Cross remarked, “We are all devastated by Heather.”

She has never suffered injuries before. She has stated she will aim for the World Cup, and having that big competition in mind will give her the motivation to ensure she is there for it, but I don’t believe that makes it any easier. However, she has already stated that it will make it easier.

Nat Sciver-Brunt (capt, The Blaze), Amy Jones (The Blaze), Charlie Dean (Somerset), Emily Arlott (Warwickshire), Tammy Beaumont (The Blaze), Lauren Bell (Hampshire), Alice Capsey (Surrey), Sophia Dunkley (Surrey), Mahika Gaur (Lancashire), Sarah Glenn (The Blaze), Lauren Filer (Durham), Emma Lamb (Lancashire), and Linse

A further three T20 matches and three one-day internationals against India follow the Windies series, which will host the 50-over World Cup in September.

Although the ECB has not specified a date for Knight’s return, it is optimistic that she will be selected for the tournament in September.

Before being fired in March after the humiliating 16-0 Ashes humiliation at the start of the year, Knight led England for nine years. One month later, Nat Sciver-Brunt, 32, took her place.

The team’s transition is officially underway with Charlotte Edwards taking over as coach for the first time in the ongoing West Indies series.

With unbeaten knocks of 43 and 66, Knight was in excellent form in her first series back in the batting ranks, which is a significant blow for England.

After winning their first title in 2024, Knight was scheduled to make a return to London Spirit for this year’s Hundred.

Due to hip surgery, she had to miss the Commonwealth Games, The Hundred, and the 2022 home series against India.

Amad makes obscene gesture after ‘personal abuse’

Images courtesy of Getty

Amad, a winger for Manchester United, made an offensive gesture toward Malaysian supporters after receiving “serious personal abuse,” the club claim.

On United’s post-season tour, the Ivory Coast international was pictured raising his middle finger in front of the team’s hotel in Kuala Lumper.

On social media, a video of the incident was widely circulated.

United claim that the winger gestured in response to “grave personal abuse” his mother experienced.

On X, Amad wrote, “I respect people but not the one who insults my mother.”

“I don’t regret what I did, but I shouldn’t have,” he said.

The club does not believe that the abuse was racist and took place as United’s players made their way toward the team coach.

It was speculated that the 22-year-old had reacted when supporters yelled “Diallo” at him.

Following an investigation into allegations that false documents and fake parents were used to enlist him in the country, the Ivorian was implicated in a trafficking case while working at Atalanta and was fined £42, 000 by the Italian FA in 2021.

The player requested to be known as Amad after removing Traore from his name.

Amad appeared in the second half of United’ 1-0 defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars.

‘Retirement is terrifying – but Fury’s not done’

Images courtesy of Getty

Tyson Fury insists that he is retired. And if you think that, you probably haven’t followed him on Instagram or in boxing for long.

He might have meant it in the past. It might just be a strategy at this point. He’s not, in my opinion, finished.

The “Gypsy King” has been posting videos of his running and training to his Instagram account.

He is directing everyone in a garden path, and I believe he is aware of it from the beginning. The Fury’s Fire is still igniting.

Since I was seven years old, I’ve watched this sport countless times. Sometimes a fighter just pauses when they say they’re done. a chance to relax, unwind, and breathe. Sometimes it’s a conscious choice, sometimes based on impulse, in the heat of the moment.

When I put my gloves in the ring after falling to Anthony Cacace in September, that was the case.

What data are gathered from this quiz?

That choice made me a total commitment. Both physically and mentally, I was broken. I announced my retirement to Eddie Hearn in a dollop of honor.

The longest and most agonizing drive of my life occurred the day after I left. I would go to school with my kids for the next few weeks, then go back to bed and start crying.

Because boxing was who I was, not just a job for me. When others around me didn’t have a purpose, it kept me away from trouble. That’s terrifying because that area of you suddenly vanishes.

People messaged me, even those who had already admitted they didn’t like me, warning me to keep my head up. After watching my fight, I realized it wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. Fans from Leeds United were preventing me at the stadium and telling me I wasn’t finished.

The need for union, the pound’s lure, and boxing buzz

Why don’t you just leave, you ask? It’s simple.

You don’t understand, though, unless you’ve lived it. It’s like taking a drug, with the training regimen, and the high of fight week.

Although I’ve never touched recreational items, I’m sure fight night will be a hit. It’s addictive because of the lights, the adrenaline, and the buzz.

Let’s face it, money is important. Boxing is more than just a hobby; it is also a profession. Can you change your life and the pay packets in a single punch? insane . Influencers are generating millions from novelty fights, you know.

What’s 36 minutes in the ring with eight figures in it, then, if you’re a top heavyweight like Fury?

But that’s where things get dangerous. The harm is multiplied. You are struck in the head. What does all that money mean when your words start to slurp or your reactions sluggish?

I believe that a union is necessary for boxing. The PFA (Professional Footballers’ Association) is a member of football. Nothing is available to us.

A union might be able to assist. It may provide advice on investing, or even establish retirement age restrictions. Because, let’s face it, is a 58-year-old Mike Tyson returning to the ring? That poses a health risk, not a return. Oasis is not reforming, this. People are being struck in the head in this situation.

Tyson Fury, please? He’ll return. Yes, I believe there is a Anthony Joshua conflict. Too big to ignore. Two unbeaten heavyweights fighting for all the belts may not be what it once could have been, but it still matters. Still, there is legacy and pride.

Fury might need a tune-up or he might jump in with no effort.

In any case, I don’t think he’s done anything. Not yet. Not until the lights are turned off, he finally finds something to give him the same thrill, and the gloves hang up permanently. But trust me, that’s the difficult part. Nothing else can ever compare to this, in my opinion.

‘Devastated’ Williamson hopes Earps has done right thing

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to play this video.

Leah Williamson, the captain of England, expressed hope that Mary Earps’ departure from international football is “the best decision for her.”

Just five weeks before Euro 2025, the Paris St-Germain goalkeeper announced that she had won her final game for England on Tuesday.

Although she was criticized for making her decision, Williamson responded that she thought Earps’ choice was one of the most difficult decisions she had ever made.

She must first be a human, and I hope Mary will be okay. She will be missed.

Williamson, who celebrated her team-mate’s victory against Arsenal on Saturday, said: “I spoke to Mary, she’s one of my closest friends in football, so I’m devastated. I love her. I love being her team-mate.

“I’m very disappointed that those memories are not going to be kept in an England shirt because of the way she wears the shirt,” she said.

She believes that this is the best thing, and I will always be here for her.

Manager Sarina Wiegman expressed her disappointment and sadness at Earps’ choice because she wanted her to join my team.

When she first learned of the goalkeeper’s intentions to step down, she would not give details about the conversations she had with Earps.

Earps helped England reach the 2023 World Cup final and won the 2022 Euros and the 2023 Women’s Finalissima with 53 games played over the course of eight years.

The 32-year-old had recently lost her starting spot in England to Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who had previously won the Fifa Best Goalkeeper award twice in a row.

She must have faced a very difficult decision, and we must do the same,” Wiegman continued.

“Of course, there are some conversations I don’t want to talk about because they are private,” I say. It’s difficult, I find it difficult, and it’s also difficult for her.

She has done an outstanding job for England. We’ve had an incredible journey so far thanks to her enormous impact. That is something I adore.

We have a relationship, and we’ve had a lot of highs and lows along the way. It’s emotional.

That’s what makes it so difficult,” she said. However, because we are entering the Euros, we must move on and don’t have time to celebrate.

Bright must take good care of herself.

Millie Bright, Chelsea’s captain, withdrew earlier this week from the England squad to allow for a lengthy recovery period before their upcoming Nations League games.

England travel to Wembley on Friday (14:45 BST), and then travel to Barcelona to face Spain on Tuesday (14:00 BST).

Chelsea won the Treble and went on to win the title, but Bright, 31, claimed she needs a break because she is mentally and physically at her limit.

Wiegman did not say when she would return for the Euros, but she said she hoped Bright would “take the time that would help her settle in time.”

She must look after herself. We are having conversations, Wiegman continued.

We’ll keep in touch, and I’m hoping she’ll soon feel better, but I’m not certain for the moment.

There are people who can support that, they say. The demands on both the field and the field have grown significantly. We must adapt, which is not always simple.

Williamson, who started every game for Chelsea against the start of Euro 2022, described it as “a brave thing” for the Chelsea defender to speak out about.

I believe it is brave for anyone to speak out about mental health. Williamson said, “I believe it encourages others to do the same.”

James is in a good place, he says.

After receiving her first senior call-up, Ella Morris received an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, which also came with Earps’ retirement and Bright’s withdrawal.

The Football Association stated that they would continue to support Morris, 22, throughout her recovery from the injury she sustained during training.

That is terrible. She performed extremely well when she arrived. She sadly tore her ACL, according to Wiegman, and there was no contact.

She’s devastated, we’re devastated, and of course we wish her a good rehab, but it’s kind of shock that that happened.

After breaking her foot last week, Wiegman confirmed Millie Turner’s chances of making the Euros squad are over.

Due to minor calf injuries, Arsenal forward Alessia Russo and United midfielder Ella Toone are also unavailable for Portugal.

Lauren James, a Chelsea forward, and Wiegman confirmed Hampton will be England’s top goalkeeper starting at the Euros, respectively, with a more positive update.

She said, “She’s in [recovery] still. She is doing very well and is in good shape. She wants to return to her for the Euros, and we want that too.

What next for Man Utd exiles Sancho and Antony?

Images courtesy of Getty

Two contracted Manchester United players embraced shortly after the final whistle blew in Wroclaw after Chelsea defeated Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final.

Both at the age of 25 and with uncertain futures, Jadon Sancho and Antony Sancho have a promising season.

Sancho, who signed for Chelsea on loan last summer, added his third goal to their tally of 10 games to bring them their first trophy since February 2022.

With nine goals and five assists in 26 games, Antony has transformed Real Betis’ season since moving to Spain on a loan deal in January. Under new coach Carlo Ancelotti, Antony looks forward to returning to the national team despite the Brazilian’s disappointing final result on Wednesday.

Sancho has doubts

It seemed like a perfect deal to all parties when Sancho’s loan move from Manchester United was confirmed on August 31. Borussia Dortmund’s £73 million signing from July 2021 had a difficult time at Old Trafford.

Chelsea agreed to pay a fee of around £20-25 million if they wanted to finish above 14th in the Premier League or have to waive a £5 million clause to exit the deal.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said, “We’ll talk about it with the club from now on,” when asked about Sancho’s future following Wednesday’s Conference League final. If we finish fourth, Jadon [Sancho] is in charge, and if we win tonight, it will be the same.

It’s typical to experience ups and downs during a season. It is a component of the game.

After returning just two goals in his first 31 games, it became clear that Chelsea would not have paid a loan fee and would only have paid half of Sancho’s reported £300,000-a-week wages, something that minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed in an interview with BBC Sport on March 10th.

No decision was made prior to Wednesday’s final, but senior officials have privately refrained from using the £5 million get-out clause if the loan did not work out. Reports in the lead-up to the game suggested that the forward might have a better chance of returning to Manchester, though only temporarily.

Sancho’s loan agreement expiring on June 30th makes it impossible for him to complete the tournament, which starts on June 14th. Sancho is eligible to represent Chelsea at the Club World Cup.

Antony available for £32.5m?

Antony’s impact in Seville has been so great that Joaquin and fellow Betis winger Isco have made up jokes about kidnapping him.

Betis has won 13 of his 25 matches since he joined, drawing eight, and losing just four. With only 25 minutes left in Poland, the club was on the verge of a Europa League spot thanks to finishing sixth in La Liga, which they had won before Chelsea’s comeback, leading 1-0.

The real issue, according to Simon Stone, BBC Sport’s chief football news correspondent, is the price tag associated with a permanent sale.

“The club has no way of getting the £81,3m they paid for him,” it is quite obvious. United still need to sell him for £32.52 million for amortization purposes because he still has two more years left on his first five-year contract.

Guillem Balague, a Spanish football expert and BBC Sport columnist, once said, “Antony is already a hero in Betis.” However, Manchester United won’t make a sale over the sum of 50 million euros (£42 million). Although Betis will reside in Europe, Antony should be there, in my opinion.

Both the club and the player believe that Old Trafford’s future is “impossible.”

Antony described the time as “very difficult days for me” and claimed that he has found happiness once more and that his family life has been impacted by his circumstances in England.

Meanwhile, Manchester is close to announcing Matheus Cunha’s transfer from Wolves for £62,5 million.
