At the conclusion of the Netball Super League season, Birmingham Panthers head coach Jo Trip will step down.

The 34-year-old Kiwi won NSL coaching awards in 2023 and 2024 but has “decided to explore new opportunities.”

The Panthers have already been declared out of play-off contention with three rounds remaining in the NSL season.

This decision is based on the conversations that take place at the end of a season as the club grows and we make future plans, according to a club statement.

Jo has chosen to look into new opportunities and depart with our sincere gratitude and respect. Everyone involved with the club has felt her determination and leadership.

Birmingham’s first season was created after Severn Stars, where Trip had previously served as player-coach, helping them to a top-four finish in 2024.

In a season of injury-heavy injuries, the Panthers won three and lost eight of their 11 games. She has focused on coaching.

After suffering two concussions in a month, Captain Gabby Marshall was forced to retire, and Sigi Burger, the team’s star shooter, was sidelined for the duration of the season with a medial collateral ligament injury.

Executive director of the Panthers, Alison Kay, stated that “her enthusiasm and commitment have had a lasting impact on everyone who worked with her.” We wish her every success as she moves forward.

Fernandes considering quitting Man Utd for Al-Hilal

Bruno Fernandes is considering leaving Manchester United the following week in favor of joining Saudi pro-League side Al-Hilal.

Fernandes’ representatives reportedly met Al-Hilal officials in recent days to talk about a move that would allow the 30-year-old to compete in the upcoming Club World Cup.

On United’s most recent tour of Asia, the subject has been up for discussion.

Fernandes has not offered any guarantees about his future, which has some people believing he is ready to leave, despite continuing to be focused and taking his responsibilities as captain seriously.

Manchester United is said to be at ease with the circumstances.

Although head coach Ruben Amorim has previously stated that he wants Fernandes to remain at Old Trafford and that a rumored £80m transfer fee might be the best way to get his squad reshaped. Fernandes was earlier this month named the club’s player of the year for a joint-record fourth time.

Amorim responded, “We talk about this many times, about the current state of the club’s current post-season trip to Asia.

You can tell from his performances, he says. His leadership is obvious. He clearly has a lot of interest in the game. Bruno is the one who accepts responsibility in challenging circumstances. Because he is the captain, he ought to do so.

Before the start of a Club World Cup campaign against Real Madrid, Red Bull Salzburg, and Mexican side Pachuca, Al-Hilal wanted to make a statement signing.

In August of last year, Fernandes agreed to extend his contract until 2027 with the option to extend it for a further year.

He is one of the highest-paid players at United, and if he chooses to accept it, his earnings are thought to be more than double.

With 19 goals coming in the season that was just ending, he was clearly the top scorer for United, with many fans believing they were in serious danger of losing them.

Others have criticized Fernandes, including former United States captain Roy Keane, who claimed he is a part of Old Trafford because of his alleged lack of discipline.

‘So many fights I don’t remember’ – UFC’s most active fighter

Images courtesy of Getty

Kevin Holland, a veteran UFC fighter who will face Vicente Luque on June 7, will once more prepare to fight in the Octagon.

Holland is known for his quick turnarounds, and his New Jersey fight is no exception. Holland is known for his quick turnarounds.

Luque will be Holland’s 21st UFC fight since 2020, making him the most active competitor at the time.

Holland made his UFC debut in 2018 with a decision loss to Thiago Santos, and his work led to his rise to fame in 2020.

Holland won five fights throughout the year, breaking the record for most UFC victories in a calendar year, despite having limited events as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Five fights in a year are unavoidable for some fighters, but for “The Trailblazer,” this is nothing new.

“I’ve always had a pretty active career. You can only be an athlete for a certain amount of time because you are an athlete for 40 years. Take advantage of it and make the best of it, he told BBC Sport.

Holland’s 41st professional bout will be his next one, having previously competed five or more times in a row.

I’d compete seven to eight times a year in jiu jitsu, muay Thai, and MMA. He continued, “I’ve always fought a lot and never really sit on my butt too much.”

I don’t really need too much time between fights, I tell myself.

In 2018, Holland will face Icelandic legend Gunnar Nelson in Luque’s third UFC fight, having most recently defeated him in March.

Just three months after being pulled from a fight after breaking a rib, Holland suffered a disappointing first-round defeat in January to Reinier de Ridder.

De Ridder and I probably fought a little more quickly than I should have. You can only learn something from being there, in the end. I tend to gain a lot of experience, he said, and experience is the best teacher.

“It immediately returns to the gym as soon as I was healthy.” I like to stay active and stay there, and it’s really simple.

His constant fighting and antics inside the cage have also earned him a following among his fans.

Famous for asking legendary wrestler Khabib Nurmagomedov for “wresting advice” while battling Derek Brunson in 2021, Holland is renowned for speaking to his adversaries while fighting.

However, Holland acknowledged that his past of talking in a cage isn’t just for entertainment as he sits loading up his gaming console in his Texas home.

My brain travels a lot of places, my friend. Have you ever heard of ADHD or similar issues? Fighting is a fun sport, but there are many things going through my head at once, he said.

A win for Holland would likely bring him back into the top 15 of the rankings because Luque is currently 14th overall.

This could be a significant improvement for Holland’s future within the company because of how well it has fared.

Holland, however, acknowledged when asked for advice that he didn’t look too far into the future.

He said, “I’m just focused on one thing, and that’s the fight coming up,” and that’s it.

“Honor MMA like a true job.” Respect and appreciate it, pay attention to your coaches, and enjoy the grind.

‘Time to put our game into overdrive’ – Glasgow ready for Stormers test

Glasgow Warriors vs. Stormers URC quarter-final

When: Friday, May 30th, 2019 Scotstoun Stadium Kick-off: 19:35 BST

This campaign embodies many of the Glasgow Warriors’ last campaign, which saw them reach the top of the United Rugby Championship.

Outstanding consistency for the majority of the campaign, only to fall apart in the fourth quarter due to some inconsistent performance. The Stormers are currently waiting in the quarter-finals of what should be a belting showdown at Scotstoun, just like they did that time.

Few people anticipated that Glasgow would regain the same level of momentum as they did in the play-offs last year, beating the South African team at home before stunning victories over Munster and the Bulls.

Warriors are once more seen as outsiders in the competition for the title, despite being the defending champions. Leinster, Bulls, and the Sharks are also seen as competitors.

However, they have more recent travel experience, and only a fool would criticize them.

Head coach Franco Smith told BBC Scotland, “We know the route, we know what it takes, and what it took.”

How can we decide what to do next in the next 80 minutes? That is the main topic.

At the start of the season, I believe we buried the weight of being champions. We all knew that putting more pressure on ourselves would burden us and prevent us from being the best version of ourselves.

“To be one of the eight teams left, which is obviously a compliment to the work that has been done and the way we’ve worked, is.

Returning players give boost

Glasgow’s crippling injury problems are a major factor in the decline in expectations.

Numerous important players have been sidelined for significant amounts of the season. Jack Dempsey and the Fagerson brothers are still sidelined, while Huw Jones’ return has been hampered by a recurring niggling Achilles issue.

However, some of the big guns are just in time to give the Warriors’ playoff challenge some new life.

Henco Venter, the potent South African back-row, is back after being suspended, while Sione Tuipulotu, Kyle Steyn, Max Williamson, and Scott Cummings have all since returned.

The Stormers are a team looking to retaliate for last season’s defeat at this point, and they are doing so in the right way.

According to Smith, “They’ve already won four games in a row.” No doubt about it, they’ll undoubtedly come out and give themselves a chance to win this game and advance in the competition. They and the coaching staff have a lot of respect, in our opinion.
