After beating Ekaterina Alexandrova, the former US Open champion, Coco Gauff, who is also an American, will next face her for a semi-final spot.

Keys will play in the second week for the second time since he reached the semi-finals in Paris in 2018 and the final eight in the following year.

South Africa’s Klaasen Retires From International Cricket

Heinrich Klaasen, the batsman-wicketkeeper of South Africa, announced his retirement on Monday.

Klaasen, a 33-year-old batsman with big hitting, is regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen in white ball cricket.

In a statement released by Cricket South Africa, Klaasen said, “Playing for the Proteas gave me the opportunity to meet great people who changed my life.”

In his 60 one-day internationals, Klaasen managed to score a total of 2141 runs while maintaining a strike rate of 117.05. In 2023, he played 83 balls for Australia and recorded his highest score of 174.

In 58 Twenty20 games, he scored 1000 runs at a 141.84 strike rate.

Before resuming red-ball cricket in 2024, he also participated in four Test matches.

His quickness to score quickly earned him a star in international franchise competitions.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’ record signing for the 2025 season was $2.69 million, according to the Indian Premier League.

He is anticipated to play franchise cricket as usual.

Klaasen was described as “a true match-winner for South Africa,” according to Enoch Nkwe, director of national teams for South Africa. He was capable of altering a game’s course in a matter of overs.

Klaasen did not receive a contract with Cricket South Africa in April, and the organization’s management informed him that future discussions were raging.

Jubilant PSG Parade Champions League Trophy In Paris

The Champs-Elysees were filled with tens of thousands of football fans on Sunday to watch Paris Saint-Germain’s players and staff parade the Champions League trophy through Paris, France, before a major celebration at their home stadium.

After a 5-0 defeat at Inter Milan in the final on Saturday, the team traveled by bus directly from Munich to Roissy Airport. Along the way, numerous enthusiastic supporters welcomed them.

Some clubs had flags or flares, while others all wished their teams had won the first-ever trophy in European club football.

As they drove, the players addressed the crowd and brandished the trophy, all of whom had ’25’ on them.

Their emblematic captain Marquinhos yelled, “Let’s sing all together.”

After the game, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the team at a reception at the Elysee palace, where they were led by coach Luis Enrique and his team, including Desire Doue, the 19-year-old who scored twice in the impressive performance from Saturday.

He declared, “You are the champions and have elevated Paris to the top of the world.”

“There were 11 of you on the field, but there was clearly a twelfth man,” Macron said, gleefully appreciative of his own loyalty to PSG’s rival club, the Olympique de Marseille.

After the final whistle on Saturday night, the president was quick to denounce the violence that had harmed the capital’s and other French celebrations.

After more than 200 cars were torched and police clashed with youths, police in France made nearly 600 arrests, according to the interior ministry.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest in Dax, southwest of the city.

A 23-year-old scooter rider in central Paris also died after being struck by a car.

After being hurt by a firework, a police officer was placed in an induced coma.

The violent clashes are unacceptable, according to Macron, who said nothing could justify what has occurred in recent hours.

“We will fight back, we will punish, and we will be relentless.”

Macron also expressed his gratitude to the club’s players for quickly outright condemning the violence.

The club said on Sunday, “These isolated acts are contrary to the club’s values and do not in any way represent the majority of our supporters, whoseexemplary behavior throughout the season deserves praise.”

A Premier League victory parade by Liverpool Football Club in the English city ended in horrifying scenes after a car ploughed into the crowd, leaving 79 people injured, so police were on high alert to stop any repetition of Saturday’s scene.

PSG will celebrate at their Parc des Princes home ground as the day’s festivities come to an end.

PSG became only the second French team after Marseille in 1993 to win the European championship while receiving an estimated 11.8 million viewers on French television.

The Champions League or the European Cup that followed had the greatest margin of victory in a final.

Since purchasing an ailing club in 2011, Qatar Sports Investments has invested hundreds of millions of euros in PSG, but over the past few seasons they have turned their back on their previous policy of signing players like Neymar and Lionel Messi and instead have concentrated on young French talent.

Doue established himself as a rising star in international football. The fifth goal was scored by Senny Mayulu, a second-year-old who was substituted toward the end.

Everyone in the dressing room sprang into action in their own way, Mayulu said after the game, “people were filled with joy and pride,” Mayulu said.

After winning the final five years, PSG claimed that they planned to win more than they had previously made.

“We want to win again,” said PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi. “We are building something for the future after 14 years of hard work.”

Egypt’s Pyramids FC Beat Sundowns To Win CAF Champions League

Egypt’s pyramids fought back from late pressure to defeat South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 on Sunday in Cairo to claim their first CAF Champions League victory.

After winning the first leg by drawing 1-1 in Pretoria last weekend, Pyramids won the first-ever African club competition by 2 to 3 on aggregate.

Before Iqraam Rayners cut the arrears in the 75th minute, Fiston Mayele scored after 23 minutes and Ahmed Samy after 56 for the Egyptians.

Sundowns struggled in the final few minutes of the match, but the second goal that would have assured them of a majority of the away goals was elusive.

The 30-kilometer-long Pyramids stadium’s capacity was about half full for the second leg due to pleas by the band, who typically draw crowds of just a few thousand.

Last weekend in Pretoria, both clubs changed their first-leg starting lineup, and Walid el Karti scored an added goal equalizer after Lucas Ribeiro gave Sundowns an early lead.

Former Croatian midfielder Krunoslav Jurcic, who was a former Croatian international, promoted ex-English Premier League player Ramadan Sobhi and dropped forward Ibrahim Adel, who scored six goals in the final.

Brazilian international Arthur Sales was cut out by Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso, who gave midfielder Jayden Adams a starting spot.

After Argentine Oscar Fullone, Cardoso becomes the second coach to reach four Champions League finals with various clubs.

Fullone, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 78, helped Morocco’s Raja Casablanca and ASEC Mimosas of the Ivory Coast win the title’s championship competition in 1998.

With an own goal separating the sides, Cardoso defeated Tunisian Esperance in the 2024 final to defeat Al Ahly of Egypt.

Nwankwo Kanu, a 48-year-old legend and former Inter Milan and Arsenal player, delivered a new Champions League trophy to the touchline at the 30 June Stadium before the first leg.

Both teams constantly gave up possession on a warm, windy first day before Pyramids took the lead with Mayele’s ninth goal of the African campaign.

Grant Kekana partially cleared a cross from Ahmed Atef, and Mayele pounced to slam a quick low shot past goalkeeper Ronwen Williams into the far corner of the net.

After the duo fought back in a furious fight that ended with their heads, the Somali referee yellowed Atef and Aubrey Modiba.

When Tashreeq Matthews broke through in the first half of the second half, only to have Ahmed el Shenawy’s left leg parry his shot.

Even though they had much more possession in the first half, the Pretoria outfit had the only threat in the opening half.

When Mohamed Chibi fired a free kick into the goalmouth and Samy fired a powerful header into the net, Pyramids again struck.

Samy scored the first goal of the 16-game Champions League campaign, making him the 19th Pyramids player this season.

When Rayners had a chance, Sundowns reacted when he fired past El Shenawy from close range after a poor clearance.

PSG’s Emphatic Champions League Win gives Qatari Owners Long-Awaited Glory

Paris Saint-Germain received the UEFA Champions League trophy on Saturday, allowing their Qatari owners to bask in the glory of an emphatic triumph after almost 15 years of massive investment, frequent disappointment, and occasional humiliation.

Previous seasons’ biggest prize for PSG included Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and they did not succeed in winning it with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

After shifting the focus away from acquiring glamorous athletes and allowing a brilliant coach, Luis Enrique, to work with a hungry, young team, they have accomplished it.

PSG have been the best team in Europe since 2025, but their 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich, the biggest victory in the competition’s history, set them on a winning note.

The lengthy wait was ultimately worthwhile for the Gulf owners who purchased an ailing club in 2011 with the help of Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).

When Messi’s Argentina defeated Mbappe’s France on a spectacular night in Qatar in the world cup final in 2022, Qatar’s team won the match, and now Qatari-owned PSG has won the most stunning Champions League title.

They lost three of their first five games of the tournament this year, which is easy to forget now.

“We started off poorly. Everyone questioned and criticized us. “Many people didn’t believe in our project,” said PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi to Canal Plus.

“Win once more is the goal now.” We have been working hard for 14 years, but we are creating something for the future.

Khelaifi, who is close to Qatar’s ruler and holds several important positions in the game, including chairman of the European Club Association, was beaming as he presented the trophy.

After Marseille in 1993, there is only the second French club to have won it. Given that this exciting youngster should now be together for a long time, it won’t take longer than 30 years for PSG to win another Champions League title.

Their starting lineup on Saturday was under 25 years old, and Marquinhos, who is 31 years old, has been a part of their team since 2013.

The Brazilian told M6 that despite suffering, “I have grown with this team.”

“I have sympathy for all the players who came here but were unable to win.”

For QSI to arrive, it took 14 years, eight coaches, and more than $2 billion ($2.27 billion) in transfer fees.

In the previous 12 campaigns, PSG reached the final, which was lost to Bayern Munich in Lisbon in 2020.

In addition to the semi-final defeats against Barcelona in 2017, Manchester United in 2019 and Real Madrid in 2022, there have also been humiliating collapses.

According to Luis Enrique, who was appointed in 2023, “I said when I came in that the only thing that was missing was the Champions League.”

The next objective is the Club World Cup,

It is another success for a club with mega-rich Gulf owners, following Manchester City’s victory over Inter two years ago.

PSG’s victory was always going to be in vain. The third-richest club in Deloitte’s Football Money League was made possible by their revenue of just over 800 million euros last year.

Real and City were only behind them, and they were ahead of the aristocratic leaders United, Bayern, and Barcelona.

Nearly twice Inter’s total revenues were nearly doubled by PSG’s most recently reported annual wage bill.

The difference is that they are now spending the money wiser on the likes of Saturday’s two-goal hero Desire Doue, Joao Neves, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia compared to previous years.

The club, which also won all three of France’s championships this year, recently signed new contracts with Luis Enrique and Luis Campos.

PSG will now be able to claim more than 100 million euros as compensation for winning the Champions League, along with the highly lucrative FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, where they will compete for more glory and riches.

The Qatar-owned PSG’s quest for dominance will continue throughout Europe.

Luis Enrique, whose side takes on Atletico Madrid in Los Angeles in two weeks, described it as “an incredible competition.”

“We want to compete and try to bring home the fifth trophy of the year.”

Sabalenka Powers Into Roland Garros Quarter-Finals

Aryna Sabalenka, the world’s number one, defeated Amanda Anisimova in the French Open fourth round to reach her 10th successive Grand Slam quarter-final on Sunday.

The Belarusian battled through a close first set against the 16th-seeded American before beating Court Suzanne Lenglen 7-5, 6-3.

After falling behind Liudmila Samsonova, Sabalenka, who had been the pre-tournament favorite, will face Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen in the final eight.

In the run-up to Roland Garros, Zheng defeated Sabalenka for the first time in their seven meetings in the quarter-finals of the Italian Open.

Sabalenka and Anisimova have lost their previous two games, each winning 5-3.

The 23-year-old, who semi-finalized in French Open, won her first WTA 1000 crown earlier this year in Doha.

When she was serving to win the opener, she broke the top seed and forced Sabalenka to advance in the first set.

However, Sabalenka continued to lead by one set going into the eleventh game when two missed break points were costly.

In the second set, the three-time Grand Slam champion quickly increased their lead to 3-0.

In a marathon hold of serve match, Anisimova fought back to save six match points before Sabalenka finally answered with a thumping backhand winner at the eighth time of asking.
