US Refuses Visa For Members Of Senegal’s Women’s Basketball Team, Says PM

The country’s prime minister said on Thursday that he had cancelled the group’s participation in the practice, and that the United States had rejected visa applications for several Senegal women’s basketball players who were scheduled to train there.

The administration’s tightened border controls and immigration crackdown are contributing to the visa refusals.

The United States will host the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 and the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

According to a memo from the internal administration, the United States is considering enforcing a travel ban that prohibits entry to its territory in Senegal.

Ousmane Sonko, the prime minister of Senegal, stated on Facebook that he had been informed that the national basketball team’s members had been denied visas.

He claimed that he had instructed the nation’s sports minister to halt what was supposed to be a 10-day training camp in the US.

The United States only renewed visas for “those who held old visas and rejected new requests,” according to Babacar Ndiaye, president of the Senegalese Basketball Federation.

Les Lionnes planned to train in the United States ahead of the Ivory Coast Afrobasket 2025 competition, which will start in July.

The US Embassy in Senegal did not respond to a request for comment, despite a statement from a US State Department representative telling AFP that it was unable to comment on individual cases.

Prime Minister Sonko thanked China for “awarding dozens of training scholarships for our athletes and their coaches” in addition to putting a stop to the training.

Abou Ali’s free kick to Anibal Moreno’s own net was headed in by the Palestinian striker.

After Mauricio sent Lopez through on goal, he finished cool for the Brazilians in the second.

Messi Fit To Face Porto, Says Inter Miami’s Mascherano

Lionel Messi will face Porto at the Club World Cup on Thursday, according to Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano, despite showing signs of discomfort during training.

Messi touched his left leg during a video during the Wednesday training session, but Mascherano confirmed the veteran forward was prepared for Miami’s second Group A game in Atlanta.

Leo trained, finished the entire session, according to Mascherano, who traveled from Miami to Atlanta after I noticed some things that came out.

He touched his leg, and there are some who touch themselves, but he is healthy and will probably play tomorrow. ”

After missing the opener 0-0 draw against Al Ahly due to injury, the coach claimed Messi’s former Barcelona team-mate Jordi Alba was available.

If he starts, we will decide whether or not to do so, the coach said. I already know, but I won’t tell you, in fact. ”

Meanwhile, Masscherano asserted that the key to keeping possession would be Porto, a regular Champions League team that will likely put the MLS team in a harsh test against Portugal.

The Argentine said, “We have players who feel much more at ease when they are in possession, dominating, and having control of the game through the ball.”

We are, of course, facing a team with experience doing that, who are on a high level side.

But since we are 11 against 11, we will try to exploit their strengths, highlight their weaknesses, and play a great game to get a positive outcome. ”

Sergio Busquets, a member of Spain’s 2010 World Cup winning side and a former Barcelona team-mate, said his team would face off at the Mercedes-Benz stadium.

According to Busquets, “They have very good players, they have reinforced, and we know that it will be very challenging.”

They host other excellent teams like Sporting and Benfica every year in a league match.

We will work together as a team to be as strong as possible, maintain a close relationship, and do our best.

We have the people (who can finish them), but we must also be strong and keep a clean sheet, according to the statement. ”

Real Madrid Star Mbappe Hospitalised With Stomach Bug

After suffering a stomach bug, Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe, according to the Spanish giants, is receiving treatment in a hospital in the United States.

Our player, Kylian Mbappe, has been taken into care because he has an acute case of gastroenteritis, according to Los Blancos in a statement.

In Xabi Alonso’s first game as manager, Real Madrid’s Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal on Wednesday was 1-1 draw.

Alonso claimed on Tuesday that the 26-year-old forward had been “feeling a little better” as a result of illness leading up to the game in Miami.

Gonzalo Garcia, a 21-year-old member of the Madrid B team, started for Mbappe and gave Real Madrid the lead in the Saudi Arabian match.

On Sunday, June 22, Madrid will play Charlotte’s Pachuca, a team from Mexico, in their second Group H game.

Los Blancos finished the season without a significant trophy, but Mbappe won the European Golden Shoe with 31 goals in his first season at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid Held By Al-Hilal In Alonso’s Debut

In the Club World Cup on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw and Federico Valverde squandered a penalty in stoppage-time.

After Xabi Alonso’s first game in charge ended with a point share, a sizable contingent of Real fans in a crowd of 62, 415 at the Hard Rock Stadium became frustrated.

It was a remarkable performance for the Saudi club, which caused a lot of problems for Real’s defense before delivering a hugely positive surprise result with Italian substitute Simone Inzaghi also making his debut on the bench.

Al-Hilal got off to a high start in the 19th minute when Salem Aldawsari headed home from close range before Marcos Leonardo’s effort was just wide.

The Saudi team’s opener was headed in the direction of Renan Lodi, but the effort was deemed unconvincing. Aldawsari showed his pace from a different risky break, but he dragged his shot wide.

Rodrygo cut in from the right and fired a left-foot shot just over the bar as Real gradually took control of the game.

Real’s leadership, however, was beginning to emerge, and they took the lead in the 34th minute.

Rodrygo drilled a low ball into the box after Gonzalo, who had been continuing his run, provided a delicate finish. Gonzalo, who started the break in place of Kylian Mbappe, did so from deep.

Although it was a classic counterattacking goal, the Saudi side’s enthusiasm persisted and the team kept moving forward with vigor.

When Marcos Leonardo was determined to have been pulled down by Raul Asencio, and Portugal international Ruben Neves calmly tucked away the penalty, they were level four minutes before the break.

Just before the break, Aldawsari, who scored the winner for Saudi Arabia in their heartfelt victory over Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar, threatened once more.

After the break, Real made a strong start by launching Arda Guler’s volley from a Vinicius Jr. cross into the bar.

Inzaghi is described as “very satisfied.”

A few moments later, Gonzalo successfully saved Yassine Bounou with a strong header from a Vinicius cross before Valverde fired a shot wide from 25 yards out.

After surviving that storm from Real, Al-Hilal began to question the Real defense, with Marcos Leonardo failing to make the most of two excellent chances.

Real were given the final three points when Mohammed Al Qahtani was found to have struck back in the face of Fran Garcia with three minutes remaining.

After a highly commendable performance, Valverde saved the diving Bounou to earn the Saudis a point.

“It was a good match for my team,” he said. They did a great job. Our teamwork was excellent and well-organized. Real Madrid, one of the three strongest teams in the world, is up against us collectively, in my opinion. Inzaghi expressed his satisfaction with the situation.

In a nutshell, I couldn’t have asked for more. I had faith. I mentioned yesterday that I had observed the team working well, but he continued, “I’m very happy as a coach,” he continued.

After a poor opening 45 minutes, Alonso was pleased with how his team had responded.

We were lacking in many things in the first half, both with and without the ball. He claimed that we lost the ball too quickly, that we didn’t have enough balance, and that these things took more time to correct than we should have.
