Emma will be there with husband Jade Jones, but Mel C, Victoria Beckham and Geri Horner will not. Insiders say: “Victoria loves Mel but sadly she will be out of the country, and wishes she could be there. Mel C too would have been there but she is on tour in Sweden. They have a great deal of affection for Melanie. “

Victoria was keen to show that Mel was in her thoughts as she posted a picture of herself and Mel looking glamorous at a recent event as she sent Rory and Mel best wishes.

The reason for Geri’s absence has not been confirmed for sure, but she is said to have a more strained relationship with Mel than the others.

Insiders say she was left mortified after Mel claimed on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2019 that she was intimate with Geri while they were in the Spice Girls.

Plenty of well-known faces have already arrived for the special ceremony. Comedian Alan Carr was seen along with Celebrity Big Brother star, Angellica Bell.

They were joined by pregnant comedy star, Katherine Ryan, and her husband, Bobby Koostra along with model Daisy Lowe and her husband, Jordan Saul.

Presenter, Gaby Roslin looked stunning as she made her way inside St Paul’s cathedral, sporting a gorgeous beige silk dress and matching hat with a cream ribbon. While Mel’s sister Danielle Brown has also been seen arriving and revealed that she would be doing the first reading in the ceremony.

‘You Don’t Know Your Political Direction,’ Wike Hits Back At Amaechi

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing rebuttal against his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, declaring that the ex-transport minister lacks the political direction and integrity required to earn respect or claim any seniority over him.

“He [Amaechi] does not even know his left from his right politically. So, how can he claim he made me? It’s unfair,” Wike said during a guest appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The FCT minister’s comments came in direct response to Amaechi’s claims on the same programme a day earlier, where the former minister said he did not understand why Wike had shown him disrespect despite being older and having groomed him in politics.

“Let the minister of the FCT come; let’s take a walk from the airport to Port Harcourt — no police, no army, nothing, just the two of us. I don’t know why he doesn’t respect people like us; I am older. I brought him up in politics. Who is he? He’s not my age, mate,” Amaechi had said.

But Wike fired back, insisting that respect is not a product of age or position but of character.

“First of all, respect should not come because you’re older or because you were once governor. Respect should come from integrity and honour. You shouldn’t be respected just because you are 200 years old,” he said.

The former Rivers Governor dismissed the notion that Amaechi had played any pivotal role in his political rise, instead positioning himself as an early player in Rivers politics.

“He cannot claim to be my senior politically. I contested the chairmanship of one of the most important local governments in this country – Obio-Akpor – in 1998, and I won. ”

Wike further recalled a time when Amaechi was “struggling” to gain political relevance and needed assistance to be appointed as a lawyer to the Rivers State Government.

“When he was struggling, I was already building a structure. He wanted someone to help him be appointed a lawyer. I walked him through. The man he wrote to was loyal to me,” he claimed.

The FCT Minister also criticised Amaechi for repeatedly referring to his past roles, saying it does not guarantee current political relevance.

On the issue of corruption, Wike questioned Amaechi’s claim of not being interested in money.

“God gives power to whomever He chooses at the right time. What matters is how you use that power to uplift others, not how many years you’ve been around.

“When a man comes in public to say, ‘I don’t like money,’ you know that man is a big liar. Amaechi was Speaker for eight years, Governor for eight years, and Minister for eight years. Nigerians should know the kind of characters deceiving them daily,” he said.

The exchange comes as both men remain key players in Nigeria’s shifting political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The coalition has several top politicians as members. X@ADCNig.

Amaechi, now a leading figure in a newly formed political coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently affirmed his commitment to power rotation, stating that he would only serve a single term if elected president.

“If I won’t do more than four years, I would say that. If I were to do more than four years, I would say I would do more than four,” Amaechi said on the show.

The ADC-led coalition also includes political bigwigs such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Don’t Fight, Challenge APC With Facts, Aregbesola Tells ADC Supporters

A former Interior Minister and interim national secretary of the party, Rauf Aregbesola, has cautioned members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against insulting or attacking supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the formal launch of the party in Abuja.

Aregbesola, who returned to Lagos on Friday, posted the advice in a statement released via his social media handles.

His advice comes as the newly formed coalition plans to unseat the Tinubu administration in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The former minister thanked supporters who came to receive him at the Lagos airport, urging them not to fight, attack, or insult anyone, but to challenge APC with facts about the state of the economy.

He added that the task before them is immense.

The statement read, “I sincerely thank our supporters and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who came out to receive me on my arrival in Lagos. The task before us is immense, and I reminded everyone that we do not need to fight, insult, or attack anyone.

“When others resort to abuse or name-calling, we must rise above it. Instead, ask them one simple question: Are Nigerians better off today than they were before? Challenge them with facts  on food inflation, the economy, the rising cost of living, and the deepening poverty affecting millions.

‘I wore “pyjama jeans” from a Taylor Swift-approved brand and I can’t go back to normal denim’

Mirror’s shopping writer Grace put a pair of “pyjama jeans” from a Taylor Swift-approved viral brand to the test to see if they could live up to proper denim

Mirror’s shopping writer Grace tried out Halara’s stretchy jeans

Denim is easily the most-worn fabric in my wardrobe, especially through spring and summer. I love a good pair of jeans and am forever searching for the perfect fit. Even though I reach for them almost daily, I’ve been finding them increasingly uncomfortable lately. However, I’m still not ready to give them up.

I tested out a pair of “pyjama jeans” from River Island earlier this year, and couldn’t believe just how comfy they were. And now I’ve found another pair that are potentially even comfier, while still looking like a normal pair of denim jeans.

The style in question are the Halara Flex™ Asymmetric Low Rise Baggy Wide Leg Jeans, currently on sale for £39. 95 down from £58. 95. I hadn’t heard too much about this brand before trying them out, but they actually have the Taylor Swift seal of approval.

Taylor Swift made her first Coachella appearance in six years with her beau Travis Kelce in 2024 and was spotted wearing a TikTok viral £40 skirt. The Breezeful™ High Waisted Pleated 2-in-1 Side Pocket Skirt from Halara gained a huge cult following on TikTok last year thanks to its unusual garter detail.

The brand is mostly known for its activewear and loungewear, so it’s no suprise to seem them branching out into denim while keeping comfort at the forefront.

When I first opened up the asymmetric jeans, I was a little skeptical as they felt so soft and stretchy, just like a pair of jogging bottoms, and so I was unsure if they would even look like jeans on.

However, as I soon as I slipped into them I had my mind changed. They honestly looked just as good as other denim pieces I own, but felt ten times comfier.

I also appreciated the asymmetric button detailing, as previous pyjama-style denim I’ve tried have kept it pretty simple with design details. But Halara has so many trendy styles to choose from in the Flex Range, from cargo-style jeans to maxi skirts and trendy corset waistcoats.

My only criticims would be that the inside and outside button feel a little flimsy, like they could ping off easily. Despite this, however, I have worn the jeans multiple times and all buttons are still in tact.

Footballers Diogo Jota and André Silva have been honoured by their family, friends and teammates at a joint funeral in Portugal.

Jota, 28, was laid to rest alongside his brother, Silva, 25, after they died in a car crash on Thursday.

Hundreds of locals and supporters gathered at the Igreja Matriz in Gondomar, where the brothers are from, on Saturday.

Players from Liverpool FC, who only three months ago were celebrating their Premier League win, arrived at the funeral together.

Watching them walk in line with each other, almost as they do when walking onto the pitch, was an emotional experience.

There was a strong feeling of community, but also a shared sombreness.

Many were visibly upset, with supporters on the other side of the barrier applauding the players. One woman in the crowd shouted towards them as they walked in: “Força! ” – strength.

Family and close friends walked into the church in complete silence, many of them with their heads bowed down as the church bell rung.

One person in the procession held up a sign with Silva’s photograph, which read: “Para sempre um de nós. ” (Forever one of us. )

So much was the brothers’ impact on football and their local community that some of the guests had to watch the ceremony from outside of the church, often hugging and comforting one another.

Locals and football fans in the crowd watched silently for most of the service, which went on for about an hour.

One of these fans was Antônio Moreira, who set off early in the morning to be one of the first outside the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar where the funeral took place.

“I know I won’t be able to go inside, but I wanted to pay my respects,” he told me from the barrier outside the church.

Antônio later showed me his phone case – a little old, he said – with the emblem of FC Porto.

“They were good people, from a humble family, people like us. “

This has hit him especially hard, he said, as 40 years ago his family went through a similar tragedy. His aunt, uncle and young cousin died in a car accident three days before Christmas, leaving his other cousin behind.

Jota and Silva may not have been his direct family, he said, but their deaths felt personal.

Jota’s journey as a player inspired many people here in Gondomar, football fan Fábio Silva told me.

He has kept up with the brothers since they started in the local clubs – and said he had to be here for their final journey.

“Despite the impact they had on football, and even financially, they never let it show,” he told me, adding the family are well-loved in the town.

“The community is sad, devastated,” he said.

Avid football fans Fábio and Rafaela travelled from the nearby town Lordelo to honour Jota and Silva.

Wearing Jota’s shirt, Fábio said it was important to him to be here “for Jota’s final day”. Both said it meant a lot to the community that so many people showed up to pay their respects.

They watched the ceremony from outside the church, like hundreds of other fans – which Fábio said was hard. Nodding, Rafaela agreed, but said it was also beautiful.

“This is an example that you need to live life to the max,” Rafaela said, “because you never know when will be your last day. “
