Edo To Regulate Scavengers, Scrap Dealers To Curb Vandalism

Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has proposed to regulate scavengers and scrap dealers’ activities.

According to Okpebholo, the move is intended to stop more theft and vandalism related to their state-wide operations.

The governor disclosed the information on Tuesday during Akintayo Ayinla, the new NSCDC Commandant’s courtesy visit.

The governor reiterated his commitment to public safety at the Government House in Benin City during the event.

He expressed concern about the growing threat of scavengers, who allegedly rob, pillage, and destroy both public and private property.

According to Okpebholo, “the way they approach stealing irons and destroying people’s property is unacceptable at all.”

He assured the NSCDC that the state government would support all efforts to restore order and prevent vandalism.

He declared, “We are going to propose to the House of Assembly a regulatory document in the form of a bill.”

“A person should know his boundaries when he is operating.” They are fighting the government if they go beyond that, he continued.

The governor noted that the proposed legislation would keep scavengers and scrap dealers statewide safe.

Ayinla praised Okpebholo for continuing to support state security agencies.

According to Ayinla, the industry contributes to the economy by reducing waste and scavenging and preventing vandalism.

He disclosed that the command had begun a control measures survey of Edo’s scrap markets and scavenging locations.

Ayinla urged the government to regulate operators’ registration and licensure and designate specific areas for scrap activities.

He warned that without proper regulation, these activities could turn into public infrastructure destruction and vehicle theft.

VIDEO: Lawyer Faults #FreeNnamdiKanu Protesters For Defying Court Order

Ayotunde Ogunleye, a senior advocate in Nigeria, has criticized #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters for abusing a valid court order that restrains demonstrations in some areas of Abuja.

Citizens must follow court orders, even when they disagree with them, the senior lawyer said on Tuesday during a discussion on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Even if you don’t agree with it, a court order must be followed. The constitution allows you to go to the court to set it aside, he said on the current affairs program.

Ogunleye argued that courts have the power to impose limitations on fundamental rights in the public interest as well as the constitution, which guarantees them.

He believes that violating judicial orders violates the rule of law and national institutions.

Instead of taking to the streets, the SAN argued that protesters should have protested the order legally. He also advised people who wanted to release Nnamdi Kanu should look into the legal options available to them.

Again, Enugu Govt Pulls Down Property Linked To Kidnapping

Another building linked to state kidnapping has been destroyed by the Enugu government.

According to officials, the move is in line with the administration’s policy against crime and already-enforced laws.

A bungalow in Umueze Awkunanaw, Nkanu West Local Government Area, was recently the victim of a kidnapping.

The hideout allegedly belonged to Igwenagu Ogbodo and his gang, who used it to detain victims, according to the statement.

When security forces raided the property, Ogbodo and some gang members escaped with gunshot wounds.

Governor Peter Mbah was praised by Nkanu West Council Chairman John Ogbodo for his resistance to insecurity during the demolition.

The person was abducted and brought to him by the prime suspect and his gang. Both his car and he were saved. Some weapons and ammunition were recovered equally, according to Ogbodo.

He continued, “I thank His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his political will and demonstrated of capacity, in accordance with what he stated to Ndi Enugu, that any house that supports or harbors criminals will be destroyed.” That is exactly what is happening right now, and it is in accordance with Enugu State’s laws.

Ogbodo noted that other crime-linked structures had previously been destroyed by the state.

This house was not the first or third house in Enugu to be destroyed by this administration. He noted that this is the first structure in Nkanu West to be destroyed, and he knows it will deter other criminal elements.

He urged local authorities to report suspicious activity and keep residents and community leaders at bay.

Anyone who owns property in Enugu State should be wary of the tenants and activities on their property. He warned against destroying any home that would otherwise house criminals or kidnap victims.

The state’s attorney argued that the demolition would stop criminal activity.

“I know the Enugu State Government has the resources and resources to capture the person who did this, but he is still at large.” Because the government’s arm will catch up with them, he said, “Others involved in criminal activity should be aware that there is no hiding place in Enugu State today.”

Witness

Some neighborhood watchers who witnessed the demolition described the suspect as a repeat offender and confirmed his criminal history.

Ikechukwu Amos, a local elder, said to local media, “I can’t deny that he is a criminal. I am their elder, and I am aware of their behavior. He turned down our advice, despite our best efforts. You have seen how unholy his character turned out.

He continued, “This same boy recently left prison.” Since then, he has been in disrepair and has been using this location for various illicit activities like consuming Indian hemp and other hard substances. I don’t find it surprising that something like this has occurred.

Edeh Kingsley, a different resident, also criticized the suspect’s behavior.

The music should be played to any young man who chooses to kidnap rather than work to earn money. He is a lazy person, as Fela is also known. He would decline if you called him for work. He claimed that drinking makes him happy.

Demolition is supported by the community.

Uchenna Jideofor, the councillor in the area, praised the governor for enforcing the state’s anti-kidnapping laws.

He urged residents to support security efforts and described the demolition as a positive development for Umueze Awkunaw residents.

“The guy has a reputation for being a criminal.” In my first tenure, I made sure some of them were kept in prison, but after that, some community members let him go. People experience insecurity once more whenever they return.

Legendary band Fleetwood Mac ‘in talks’ to reunite for 50th anniversary of iconic album

There has been much rumor recently about Fleetwood Mac reuniting to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a fan-favorite album.

Fleetwood Mac are reportedly in talks for a reunion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their hit album, Rumours. Over the summer, there was speculation of a reunion when Stevie Nicks and her ex-partner, Lindsey Buckingham, both shared lyrics from one of their songs on Instagram.

Stevie and Lindsey, who had a relationship in the 1970s, are said to have become estranged in recent years, following his most recent departure from the band in 2018. In July, Stevie posted: “And if you go forward …” and Lindsey finished the lyric, sharing: “I’ll meet you there.”

The band may now be reunited for a massive celebration, according to reports.

It would come after bandmate Christine McVie died in 2022 following a stroke. According to The Sun, Mick Fleetwood is at the centre of the plans and is leading talks between Stevie, Lindsey and John McVie.

According to reports, Warner Records is working on a special re-release of the record in order to commemorate the 2027 milestone, including a one-off TV special about Rumours’ creation.

Fans scurried to share their theories in the meantime when Stevie and Lindsey posted the lyrics on Instagram this summer.

The lyrics to their song Frozen Love are from the chorus, which appeared to be handwritten in their respective posts. Prior to joining Fleetwood Mac, it was featured on their 1973 album Buckingham Nicks.

Many fans questioned the meaning of the captions in the comments sections of neither post. One person questioned, “OMG! What does “” mean exactly? Another responded, “Confirm what’s happening, pls,” in their response.

Others speculated about a reunion. One wrote, “Right I believe there will be another reunion.”

Someone said, “Buckingham Nicks? “, “? Is it??? Reunion??? Ahhhh”. Another wrote, “Come on, let’s see you both together again!!!” “!

The posts followed their ex-bandmate Mick’s Instagram video of himself listening to Frozen Love.

Magic then, magic now, Mick said in the caption of the post, which Fleetwood Mac and Mick jointly shared. He said in the video, “Unbelievable,” after taking the song to listen.

Stevie and Lindsey’s union. The marriage between Fleetwood Mac and them. Everything is contained in this song. It appears in the music, which lasted for a long time. Then, magic exists. Magic now. What a thrill ! What a thrill ! Amen”.

Newcastle Thrash Mourinho’s Benfica In Champions League

With a 3-0 win at St. James’ Park, Newcastle inflicted more Champions League pain on Jose Mourinho’s Benfica with the debut of Harvey Barnes.

As Benfica continue to struggle in Europe’s elite competition this season, Anthony Gordon fired the Magpies in front.

With two composed right-footed finishes, Newcastle were well on the verge of qualifying for the league phase, which was introduced just after the hour mark.

In their opening game, Eddie Howe’s men won two games, including a 4-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise, following a defeat to Barcelona in the previous one.

In the Champions League standings, Newcastle moves up above Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Mourinho, who respects his mentor and former Newcastle boss Bobby Robson, who is embodied in a statue at St. James’ Park, admitted to being a “little Magpie” to Portuguese press last month.

Robson used Mourinho as a translator at Sporting Lisbon, Porto, and Barcelona to give him a break while he was coaching.

Robson requested the Portuguese work for him as an assistant manager at Newcastle in 1999, but Mourinho turned down the opportunity to take over as manager following his successful debut at&nbsp, Benfica.

Mourinho’s Chelsea resumption last month saw the Portuguese giants lose 1-0.

Benfica are the only team to have lost three of their three Champions League games this season, but they were left disappointed that they didn’t create more chances in the first half.

Dodi Lukebakio was a constant threat to visitors down the road.

Before Lukebakio’s curling effort from long range crashed off the post, the Belgium winger forced Nick Pope into a brilliant save at his near post.

The hosts, however, made the 32-minute breakthrough.

Jacob Murphy’s low cross was played in by Bruno Guimaraes down the right, and Gordon converted it for his third Champions League goal this season.

When Lewis Miley headed over from a corner completely unmarked, Newcastle should have increased their lead.

Antonio Silva fouled Barnes, who had already sped clear, before firing low and hard into the far corner, who was given the assist for the second goal.

Seven minutes into Newcastle’s Premier League goalscoring woes were put to one side by Gordon’s put-ahead goal. Barnes was followed by another composed finish.

To place 14th in the table, Howe’s team has only seven goals in its eight league games.

However, they could contend for a top-eight place finish in the Champions League to automatically advance to the last 16 after games against Athletic Bilbao, Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen, and PSV before a difficult final-night stopover of reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.
