Speaking on his The Rest is Entertainment podcast, Richard said: “Clarkson is bringing out another Diddly Squat and is bringing it out quite close to Christmas, which is the cowards way of bringing out a book.

“It gives you more chance of being a Christmas number one. If he had any guts at all…if he was any sort of a man…he’s coming out late in an attempt to do it.”

Richard however has tipped Charlie Mackesy for the coveted number one spot this Christmas. His last book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, was transformed into an animated adaptation for BBC One in Christmas 2022.

His latest book, Always Remember, released on October 9. Richard said: “He has a new book out which has the same characters, it’s called Always Remember, and I think it will be our Christmas number one.

“I’d like to be the biggest selling book, but just in that Christmas week, in that very, very final week, which is the big one. I hope to sell more than him because I hope to sell more than everybody.”

Last year the Guinness World Records 2025 was crowned as the best-selling book at Christmas, and Richard anticipates the annual release could once again battle it out for the crown. He explained: “Guinness Book of Records is always in the fight.

“In fact, it was Christmas number one last year. So that’s a possibility.”

Richard also highlighted a host of celebrity memoirs that could sell well this year. These include autobiographies from actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, Olympian Sir Bradley Wiggins, footballer Paul Gascoigne and Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris McCausland.

He however predicts Susie Wolf’s Driven will be a best-seller this festive season. He added: “F1 and things like that sell incredibly well.

“Guy Martin, who does all the kind of motorbike shows and stunt shows on Channel 4, his autobiographies always sell like crazy.”

Love Island winner glad she ‘fell off’ fame train amid ‘anxiety inducing’ post-villa life

Amber Gill, the fifth-season winner of Love Island, said she was glad she “felt off” the fame train because it served as a wake-up call in the pressure of post-villain life.

Love Island winner Amber Gill has admitted that she’s glad she “fell off” the fame train after her appearance on the hit reality TV show.

Amber won series five of the show with ex-partner Greg O’Shea. She was in the villa with the likes of Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins.

Amber and Greg broke up just five weeks after the pair won the prize money. Shortly after their split, Amber called herself the “first solo winner of Love Island”.

Amber reflected on her life both prior to and right after the show in an interview with her podcast Just Existing. She revealed that she had little to no experience and extreme pressure to produce content after gaining more than two million followers from her show appearance.

“[Before the show] I didn’t really post anything so it was throwing me very firmly into the deep end,” she said. “It was getting to the point where I was getting like 900,000 likes on an Instagram photo which is insane and I was still thinking, ‘Why is it not a million? How come I only got 2000 comments and why not 3000?'”

“I kind of felt like I needed to go a little off balance just to have a reality check and be grateful for what’s happening around us,” Amber continued. “I feel completely disconnected, and I think that time in my life was very anxious-inducing.”

She has collaborated with Misspap to create a clothing line since her appearance on the show. She was underrepresented in the media when she was younger, so she co-wrote a book called Until I Met You, which was based on a Black love story. In July 2022, the book was published.

One Summer in Miami, the 27-year-old woman from Newcastle, is set to publish her second fiction book. She discusses her appreciation for therapy, her most important life lessons, and her celebration and representation of queer joy.
