Spain (3) 8

With a 54-8 victory over Spain at York Community Stadium, reigning champions New Zealand set the tone for a record-extending seventh women’s rugby world cup.

The Black Ferns only led 21-3 at half-time as a result of Spain’s battling display that belied their 13th-ranked world rankings after title rivals England and Canada had big wins in their opening games.

Despite having to play with 13 women for the final 17 minutes, New Zealand ran in five tries after the break to overcome their first-half rustiness.

When Kaipo Olsen-Baker, who had suffered a right leg injury, went off on a stretcher after 55 minutes, Allan Bunting had already used all of his replacement players.

Ayesha Leti-I’iga, the wing, also had to miss out due to injury, and New Zealand were reduced to 13.

Despite having two players in the match, the Black Ferns still managed to score a try, but they conceded in the final play when Spain scored the try they deserved.

In a stunning 40-minute World Cup debut before being replaced, Flanker Jorja Miller scored two tries.

In the entertaining first half, Dynamic Miller shines.

In the 13th minute, Miller, who won the World Sevens tournament, scored a try that demonstrated why she is regarded as a game’s superstar.

The 21-year-old accelerated through Spain’s defense after he threw a fake pass and entered two defenders.

After making a fluent passing move, the Olympic sevens gold medallist, who only played her first 15-a-side Test in May, landed her second three minutes later, touching down on the right.

Miller went on a rampaging run right away, seeing a chance to score a stunning hat-trick, but Spain did it this time.

She played the most of any player in all eight matches played on the opening weekend of the World Cup, defeating 11 defenders in 40 minutes.

The champions’ third try was scored by Liana Mikaele-Tu’u, who also had outstanding stature. The hosts then needed to defend well to keep the Spanish side at bay.

Despite being injured, Black Ferns still win.

The second half was a different story, with left wing Leti-I’iga scoring for New Zealand’s bonus-point fourth try shortly after the break.

Georgia Ponsonby’s replacement hooker slammed into the corner for her second try before Leti-l’iga used all of her brute force to stop two tackles and touch down for her second try.

With only 13 players in the pitch center, Theresa Setefano broke through the posts to score under the posts, and Woodman-Wickliffe, the world’s all-time record try-scorer, ran a great line to go over for her score.

FA to investigate Marinakis banner at Palace match

Media PA

The Football Association is looking into a banner that Crystal Palace supporters unfurled that featured Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis posing with a gun to the head of midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

According to well-placed sources, Forest are deeply disappointed that supporters were permitted to enter Selhurst Park.

The BBC has contacted Crystal Palace to request comment.

The banner read, “Mr. Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking, or corruption,” as Palace and Forest did on Sunday in Selhurst Park, which gave the game a 1-1 draw.

Marinakis has consistently refuted accusations of wrongdoing in connection with these allegations.

The FA will determine whether Palace will receive punishment by looking at the banner.

Such banners contain offensive language and defamatory, political, and other messages that must be communicated in strict guidelines.

Following a contentious summer that saw Palace and Forest be relegated to the Europa Conference League and Forest joining the Europa League because the London club broke Uefa’s multi-club ownership regulations, the banner will heighten the tensions between the two clubs.

Crystal Palace’s removal from the Europa League was described as “the biggest injustice in football history,” according to Palace chairman Steve Parish last month.

However, the City Ground is now deeply irritated that more work was not done to stop the banner from being displayed.

Forest perceives the banner as inflammatory and xenophobic. They are privately asking why Palace and the club’s owners, Woody Johnson, Parish, Josh Harris, and David Blitzer, have not publicly criticized the banner.

After the London club appeared to have triggered the England international’s £60m release clause, Gibbs-White was on the verge of leaving Forest for Tottenham earlier this summer.

Emma Chamberlain calls out ‘extreme culture’ around Labubu dolls

The YouTuber stated that she wouldn’t be purchasing one at any point in the future.

Labubu dolls are unavoidable, regardless of whether you adore them or hate them, and it seems like they won’t be going away anytime soon.

The fluffy clip-on creatures have decorated the handbags of A-listers including Blackpink’s Lisa, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa, becoming one of the more peculiar fashion trends in recent times.

Manufactured by Chinese toy company Pop Mart, these wearable figures have now conquered the globe, with the BBC revealing in June that customs authorities had confiscated 70,000 counterfeit dolls within days as their appeal skyrocketed.

As appetite for the dolls remains strong, online style influencer and vlogger Emma Chamberlain shared her thoughts on them in today’s instalment (August 24) of her Anything Goes podcast.

During the episode, the 24-year-old analysed Labubus and white vest tops, questioning whether they were “trendy or timeless”, reports OK!

She continued, “They’re cute but they perfectly go with the trend we’ve been discussing for the past year or two, which is Jane Birkin-ing the bag.”

It’s basically hanging a number of key chains, jewelry, and other accessories from a purse to add some style and personalization. The Labubu was already a popular trend before it became available, and we now have a fun collectible stuffed animal to put on our bags. “

She acknowledged to like the way the dolls appear, but she was offended by the extreme demand and the “blind box” packaging, which prevents customers from seeing which Labubu character they are purchasing.

She stated, “The only reason I haven’t bought one is because the culture and the general pattern are too extreme for me right now […]… [There are five-hour lines waiting for a Labubu.

It’s a brilliant business model, but the culture of buying a lot of them and collecting them all, with the result that I’m hesitant to participate. “

She admitted that she would be eager to purchase one from the secondhand market as soon as Labubu owners were no longer interested in the trend.

“I would honestly rather wait until all these people that bought the Labubus are like ‘Oh wait I’m sick of it’ and then they start putting them on eBay for really cheap. Then maybe I’ll get one because I do like them.

She quickly makes new friends and finds herself ensnared in complex romantic tangles as she adjusts to the many difficulties of her new European surroundings. Fans have been a huge hit with the show, but critics have criticized it for portraying the nation and its people unrealistically.

Malcolm McDowell, an actor for A Clockwork Orange, acknowledged he had never watched Lily’s series and that the plot didn’t appeal to him.

She is so beautiful, she. When she appears on screen, there is no one else on it, in my opinion, because she is both a talented actress and a beautiful person. It’s a “charismatic” quality, he continued.

BBC shares statement after Hozier’s poignant Palestine speech was cut from broadcast

Hozier delivered a moving speech that included support for Palestine and the rap group Kneecap, according to the BBC, explaining the rationale for not broadcasting his performance.

The BBC has spoken out about Hozier’s performance at Reading Festival and explained the reason behind his performance not being broadcast. The Reading and Leeds headliner reportedly had an agreement with the broadcaster for his performance to not be shown on iPlayer.

On August 22, Hozier took to the stage with a performance that went beyond the music to express his passionate opinions on issues such as equality, rap group Kneecap, and Palestine.

He began by examining famous people throughout history who have used music to deliver speeches, including name-checking stars like Nina Simone, Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez, and Ewan MacColl.

He went on to say: “I think people want to see human beings live in peace and safety, and security. I think that people would want to see that for their neighbours. They would want to see that for members of their community. I believe that people would want to see people they don’t know live with peace and safety, and security. Am I right?” It comes as Katie releases a statement after Alex Reid leaks bombshell cash counting video

The musician continued, “Seeing a Palestine that is free from occupation, that is free from these cycles of genocide and violence, and that is free to move toward meaningful self-determination and statehood” for the sake of everyone in the Middle East.

While many artists were livestreamed onto BBC iPlayer, Hozier was not and many fans were left disappointed. The BBC has responded to the criticism and explained in a statement to The Metro why Hozier’s set was not broadcast.

The statement read: “Viewers can enjoy a wide range of performances and highlights from Reading and Leeds Festival on BBC iPlayer, BBC Music’s YouTube channel, BBC One and Radio 1. As mutually agreed ahead of Reading Festival, Hozier chose not to be included in the BBC’s coverage.”

Following backlash over live-streaming Bob Vylan’s set at Glastonbury, the BBC announced it would no longer be showing any performances it believed might be “high risk” in the future.

The band’s set was live-streamed as they performed before Kneecap’s set on the West Holts Stage at Worthy Farm. The band chanted “Free Palestine” and “Death to the IDF” before moving on.

Since then, the BBC has expressed regret for not intervening and halting its programming. The organization stated in a statement that “we fully understand the strength of feeling regarding Bob Vylan’s live broadcast of Glastonbury on the BBC.

We regret deeply that the BBC broadcast such offensive and repulsive behavior, and we apologise to both our viewers and listeners, particularly the Jewish community. We are also unwavering in our conviction that the BBC cannot tolerate antisemitism.

Winless Man Utd Squander Lead In Fulham Draw

After falling 1-1 at Fulham on Sunday, Manchester United are still without a Premier League victory, while Everton, who embodied Jack Grealish, won 2-0 at Brighton to open their new stadium.

As they were relegated to Craven Cottage, Bruno Fernandes’ side were left to rue their first-half penalty at the hands of Ruben Amorim.

On the hour mark, Rodrigo Muniz scored the winning goal, but Fulham rallied back on the bench to save a point.

Amorim’s new £200 million ($270 million) forward line, which includes Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, has not yet fired despite a disastrous 15th-place finish last season.

United will now feel as though another two points have been lost in west London following their season opener against title-chasing Arsenal, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

However, Fulham believed that two contentious calls were handled favorably by the visitors.

Following a VAR review of Calvin Bassey’s grappling on Mason Mount, United received the penalty.

Although Fernandes is typically trustworthy right away, he blasted his effort over the bar.

United did finally score their season opener through Leny Yoro’s header after a Fulham body as Muniz deflected the ball into his own net.

However, the home side complained that Yoro had pushed Bassey this time and VAR did not intervene.

When Smith Rowe, a former Arsenal midfielder, ran into the box before turning in Alex Iwobi’s cross 17 minutes from time, Fulham still managed to save the game.

Everton’s newest era

Everton are hoping the move to a new 53, 000 capacity stadium will rekindle their bygone glory days after a heartfelt bid to the club’s former home, Goodison Park, which they have owned since 1892.

Only four clubs have won more titles than Everton’s nine in English football.

However, they haven’t won a significant trophy in 30 years and have struggled to stay in the top three at Goodison.

“We’re trying to move the club forward,” the club said. Manager David Moyes praised the move as a significant step forward for Everton.

Grealish has so far been Moyes’ most notable addition to his squad and has shown glimpses of the talent that led to Manchester City’s purchase of Aston Villa for $ 100 million in 2014. He also provided the assist for both goals.

In May, Iliman Ndiaye scored the final goal for Goodison against Southampton, and he also made history with his first goal at Everton’s new stadium.

Ndiaye perfectly timed his run to meet at the back post in 23 minutes after a drilled left foot cross that Grealish had created.

Brighton wasted a lot of chances by leaving Merseyside empty-handed.

Danny Welbeck spooned over with the goal gaping as Kaoru Mitoma hit the bar and Jan Paul van Hecke’s effort hit the post.

Early in the second period, James Garner’s blistering strike from Grealish’s lay-off doubled Everton’s lead.

Welbeck’s poor penalty was saved by Jordan Pickford to cap a memorable afternoon for the Toffees, but Brighton still had a chance to create a nervy finale.

Nuno no go

Nuno Espirito Santo, manager of Nottingham Forest, vowed to stay in charge despite their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Ismaila Sarr’s first-half opener for Palace was saved by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who scored the winning goal.

As a result of the slim chances that Nuno would become the first Premier League manager of the season to be fired, Nuno claimed on Friday that his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had deteriorated.

That is absurd. The Portuguese coach, who questioned whether he was trying to engineer a club exit, said, “That makes no sense.”
