Conor Benn, of Great Britain, has been placed first in the world rankings behind Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.

Benn, 29, hasn’t fought at the welterweight limit since February 2022 and is currently ranked fourth in the WBC.

Barrios is expected to face fellow American Ryan Garcia at the WBC’s annual convention, where the announcement was made.

On social media, Benn declared, “I’ll be watching Barrios-Garcia closely.

Barrios, 30, has won both of his WBC victories, most recently when he faced Manny Pacquiao in a contentious draw in July.

Benn has not fought any of the WBC welterweight competitors in the top 10 of the WBC welterweight rankings, despite the fact that Garcia, 27, is unranked.

In February, the Barrios-Garcia fight is anticipated.

This year, Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. won their second fight at middleweight, winning it last month.

Eight wickets, Bangladesh won.

In the final third Twenty20 international between the sides in Chattogram, Bangladesh won by eight wickets over Ireland.

With five catches, Tanzid Hasan Tamim had the most from an outfielder overall.

With one ball left, Bangladesh restricted the visitors to 117 all out, making it even more remarkable that all five of his catches were taken in consecutive Irish wickets.

Bangladesh were too strong for Ireland in their innings after winning the second T20 on Sunday to bring the series level; they only needed 13.4 overs to score 119 and prevail eight wickets later.

Before the home side levelled the series with a four-wicket victory on Saturday, Ireland won the first game by a convincing 39 runs.

Tim Tector was the first Irish batter to lose on Tuesday’s decisive, falling to five with Ireland at a half-century.

Shak Mahedi Hasan bowled Lorcan Tucker for one run before Paul Stirling left Ireland with a score of 73-5. Curtis Campher followed with nine runs after Lorcan Tucker was out.

In five consecutive Irish wickets, Tanzid took Gareth Delaney (10), Mark Adair (8), Matthew Humphreys (1), George Dockrell (19), and Ben White (5).

With one ball left, Ireland was out on 117 with Mustafizur Rahman as the bowler of choice for Bangladesh, with 3-11 overall.

In the opening five overs, Bangladesh were comfortable with the bat, scoring 119 and winning by eight wickets with the help of Saif Hassan (19) and Litton Das (seven).
