‘Superhuman’ Salah Unhappy After Being Dropped, Says Liverpool’s Slot

Mohamed Salah was unappreciative of being dropped from Liverpool’s squad for their crucial 2-0 victory against West Ham, according to Arne Slot, who acknowledged his attitude on Tuesday.

Following a terrible run of nine defeats in all competitions, Liverpool boss Slot made changes to the Egypt forward at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The 33-year-old misfiring Salah has only scored four Premier League goals this year, which is a low figure compared to Salah’s 29 last season, which earned him the Golden Boot.

Salah was a “superhuman being,” according to Slot, who led Anfield under his leadership, but he had not been at his best recently.

There are times when you become human while playing for the club, like with all players around the world,” he said. He has scored so many goals for us, but I’m confident he will. ”

Salah’s reaction to being left out impressed Slot, whose eighth-placed team takes on Sunderland on Wednesday, according to Slot, who praised his professionalism and said he was not surprised by Salah’s attitude.

That is a typical response from a player who is capable enough to play for us, he said. He has been a great asset to this club for many years and will continue to do so in the future.

A player is obviously unhappy when they aren’t playing, so yeah. I can tell you that he wasn’t the only one who wasn’t content that he wasn’t beginning. ”

Salah had praised his teammates, according to the Dutchman.

If you go with your feelings, you can’t be a player who is available every three days and play to that high standard.

But Mo is so disciplined and knows how to stay in shape, and he will always be that elite professional no matter where he plays or where he doesn’t play. ”

Salah is scheduled to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15 according to Slot.

In these situations, there are a player involved, Egypt is involved, and the club is involved, as always. And there are discussions ongoing about what works best for all three of us, he added.

Meanwhile, Regis Le Bris, the manager of Sunderland, claimed his players were looking forward to playing at Anfield despite their newly promoted side currently ranking sixth overall.

He said, “We worked hard to have the privilege of playing this kind of game.” We want to live this kind of experience, even though it is a challenging situation and a difficult game. ”

The Frenchman continued, “Liverpool will be strong, the place (Anfield) is impressive, but we also want to be competitive, so we’ll see.” ”

Paqueta ‘not OK’ and still affected by spot-fixing probe – Nuno

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo claims that West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta is still impacted by the investigation into the allegations of “spot-fixing” him.

The Brazilian was charged in May 2024 with being intentionally booked “for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market,” according to the Football Association’s investigation in August of that year.

In July of this year, an independent regulatory commission gave him his clearance.

After being dismissed for expressing disapproval in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home against Liverpool, Paqueta later said his actions were a “reflection of everything I have had to endure.”

If Paqueta was found guilty, the regulatory commission determined that the four charges against him were “not proven.” However, he was subject to a lifetime ban from football.

After failing to follow the investigation, he received reprimands and cautions about how he should act in the future.

Paqueta’s lawyer informed the BBC that the midfielder had “an enormous weight off his chest” and was “very emotional and very delighted” when he was cleared.

Paqueta’s wife has previously claimed that they have “been living this nightmare for two years.”

After debating whether to send a foul against his team with six minutes left, Paqueta quickly received two yellow cards on Sunday.

After collecting five yellow cards in the league, he missed West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth and now plays his first game back.

Paqueta attributed Sunday’s offending to the recent two-year events, blaming what he claimed was the FA’s lack of psychological support during the investigation.

He continued, “I’m sorry if I’m not perfect.”

Nuno confirmed that after the incident, Paqueta apologized to him and his Hammers teammates.

Nuno responded, “He is not okay.”

He is suffering, upset, and disappointed.

He acknowledges his error and is willing to make improvements. Sometimes people are unaware of the difficulties football players go through.

However, I believe he will get past this predicament.

Lindblad, who was born in Britain and has Swedish heritage through his mother, joins Lawson as the only rookie on the grid for 2026.

With Tsunoda’s departure, Formula One has lost its Japanese driver. Red Bull stated that he will continue playing for the team as a reserve.

Hadjar is the third Red Bull Racing driver to fill a position previously held by him.

In December, Lawson was chosen to take Sergio Perez’ place. Following the opening two Grand Prix of 2025, Tsunoda took the New Zealander’s place in March.

Verstappen will compete on Sunday at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to defend his fifth successive World Drivers’ title.

The Red Bull Racing driver lineup for the 2026 Formula One season will be Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar.

Is war between Ethiopia & Eritrea inevitable?: Mehdi Hasan & Getachew Reda

Getachew Reda and Mehdi Hasan debate the conflict over their relationship and Tigray’s justice system.

The Tigray People’s Liberation Front and Ethiopia’s federal government engaged in a brutal civil war in 2022 under the Pretoria Agreement.

The desire for lasting peace and justice has vanished today. Many people are concerned about renewed hostilities as Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government’s relations with the TPLF escalate.

And because of this, the countries are teetering on the brink of war and have deteriorated in relations with neighboring Eritrea, which was a country that supported the TPLF.

Getachew Reda served as Tigray’s interim president and its lead political figure during the civil war.

He joined his former adversary, Abiy, and claimed there was deep-seated corruption within the TPLF leadership after a public disagreement.

Ethiopia’s prime minister’s adviser Getachew Reda confronts Mehdi Hasan in a confrontation about his new alliance with Abiy, and he inquires whether Ethiopia and Eritrea are headed for war.

Ballon d’Or winner Bonmati out for five months with broken leg

Aitana Bonmati, a midfielder for Barcelona and Spain, is expected to miss five months following surgery on a broken leg.

The 27-year-old sprang into awkwardness on Sunday during a practice session with her country side.

She had been getting ready for the national team’s Uefa Women’s Nations League match against Germany on Tuesday at the national team’s training facility in Madrid.

Barcelona claimed to be awaiting her return after the accident so they could decide what to do with her.

The club stated in a statement on Tuesday that Bonmati had undergone surgery and that he would need five months to recover.

She would miss almost the entire season due to her inability, with Barcelona’s final league game scheduled for May 31.

The previous weekend saw the Women’s Champions League final.

Bonmati became the first woman to three times win the women’s Ballon d’Or, with the award presented annually to the player who was chosen by a panel of journalists as the best overall.

She was also named Uefa’s player of the year in the Champions League.

The latest blow to Barca is the Bonmati injury.

Spanish football reporter Elizabeth Conway from BBC Sport

Barcelona dealt a significant blow to Aitana Bonmati’s injury. The captain of Barca, the midfielder, started 13 games, giving up six goals and giving three assists.

Her absence is just one more injury to the growing injury list, which includes Patri Guijarro, who has been sidelined until at least January, and Kika Nazareth, who has been sidelined for three weeks. Salma Paralluelo, the singer’s partner, won’t play until January, and Ewa Pajor, the forward, is still sidelined with a knee issue. A return date is anticipated for December.

Since Bonmati is likely to be out until May, Barca have only a few midfield and attacking options.
