After receiving a citizenship application, Anastasia Potapova has changed her nationality to Austrian.
Since the invasion of Ukraine, Potapova has been prohibited from playing in the Billie Jean King Cup, with Russia also prohibited from competing in team competitions.
The 24-year-old, who represented Russia at that level in the 2018 and 2019 competitions, will be eligible to play for Austria in the following year.
Potapova wrote on Instagram, “I’m delighted to let you all know that the Austrian government has accepted my application for citizenship.”
I adore Austria, which is incredibly welcoming, and which makes me feel completely at home. I adore living in Wien [Vienna] and look forward to returning there.
Julia Grabher, who is currently ranked 94th in the world, will take her place once the switch is implemented, making Potavpova, who is currently ranked 51, the new Austrian number one.
After Ukrainian opponent Elina Svitolina threatened to boycott their match at the Monterrey Open, Potapova claimed that Russian athletes were “hostages of the current situation.”
Potapova is the latest in a growing number of Russians to resemble a different country and play there since missing the China Open in October due to injury.
Daria Kasatkina announced earlier this year that her request for permanent residency had been accepted by Australia.
The Made in Chelsea stars’ first child, Jade, arrived in the world, and shared their happy news with their countless Instagram followers. Sophie, a brand-new mother, was gleaming in newborn photos of her cuddling her child in bed. Another photo showed her proud father Jamie grinning by her side.
As they prepared for life as a family of three, Jamie, 36, and Sophie, 31, kept fans informed throughout her pregnancy. The busy couple even moved into a stunning £12 million home before the baby was born. In a sweet Instagram post, they made the announcement that they were expecting back in June.
They now confirm that their son, named Jakob, has arrived. Jamie shared a message on Instagram, “Ziggy, you have our whole hearts.”
Stacey Solomon and Stacey Dooley, two close friends of mine, emailed out congratulations as soon as possible. Let the adventures begin, the One Show host Alex Jones told them, and Rylan Clark and Roxelle Humes also reached out to the new parents!
Their newborn son was pictured in a photo booth by Jamie and Sophie.
Sophie cried as they were surprised by a goodbye party at the end of their final episode of the Nearly Parents podcast, which the pair hosted last week.
As the crowd clapped before dancing, Jamie exclaimed, “Now we get the party started.”
Sophie stated in the final podcast that she was looking into ways to start labor. We’re at the point where we should be nailing the sex, Sophie joked.
Jamie remarked, “Wow, you’ve never told me this.”
Sophie responded, “Yes, I said we needed to be having sex, and we really needed to wrap this up.” You said, “Pfft, you’re just a bit of a unit,” and you looked at me.
As I’m there, with my t*ts hanging on my stomach, Sophie joked, “As I’m there, with my t*ts hanging on my stomach.”
After getting married, Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing walk out of the Chelsea Registry Office (via Getty Images) in confetti.
Sophie and Jamie’s relationship developed from a reality TV show to a well-known podcast and appearances on Radio One’s presenters.
After a few bumps along the way, the pair’s relationship turned from friendship to coupledom on Made in Chelsea.
Jamie and Sophie shared their first ever date at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021, when Jamie and Sophie engaged in a knee-length proposal at the end of their relationship.
The couple wed in London in April 2023, and close friends and family attended the ceremony, which was followed by a lavish weekend celebration in Marbella the following month.
The couple’s podcast, NearlyWeds, was created to document the day of their wedding.
They are now expecting their first child (Doug Peters/EMPICS Entertainment).
Throughout her pregnancy, Sophie and Jamie have been sharing updates on Instagram (@sophiehabboo).
The couple posted a sweet video on Instagram showing Sophie’s pregnancy as they headed to a baby scan. As the baby appeared on the screen as Sophie was being examined for an ultrasound, Jamie exclaims, “Are you kidding me?
Sophie was the first time the couple heard the baby’s heartbeat and Jamie positioned the camera around the room.
They rebranded to NearlyParents after breaking news of their pregnancy and shared sweet updates with fans. Jamie explained how his first reaction was when he felt his baby’s kick.
The baby sounded like it was kicking. It’s like a little foot, he said on their podcast, “I felt it there.” It’s like a little foot.
Then Jamie said, “It’s insane, you can put your hands on the tummy and you can feel the baby kicking,” Sophie then described the sensation of a fish swimming through her stomach. What does it do, I can’t explain. There must be some kind of chemical reaction.
The only way to describe it is “pure love,” as my body reacts when I feel the kick, something hits me, some chemically nails my body, and it feels like it. I’ve never experienced real pure love like that.

Sale Sharks vs. Glasgow Warriors in the Investec Champions Cup Pool One
Date: Friday, December 5th, 2018 Kick-off: 20:00 GMT
For their Champions Cup opener against the Glasgow Warriors on Friday, Sale are without George Ford and Asher Opoku-Fordjour.
Ford, who injured his groin in the Prem defeat by Exeter on November 28th, will start at fly-half in place of Rob du Preez, who will start at center.
The 32-year-old “is a quick healer,” according to Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson, who stated in his pre-game press conference that he did not know how long Ford’s issue would take to resolve. So he did not anticipate the England number 10 being out of action for an extended period of time.
Luke Cowan-Dickie is not included in Sale’s matchday squad, and prop Opoku-Fordjour is expected to miss six weeks due to hyperextending an elbow during a scrum against Exeter.
Ben Curry, an England flanker, has had hamstring surgery and is now on the bench.
Numerous internationals from Scotland are now included in Glasgow’s squad for the match.
Stafford McDowall will make his 100th appearance for the Warriors when Sione Tuipulotu starts and is paired with him at center.
Zander Fagerson will start for his club for the first time since April, while the other players are expected to start.
Fagerson missed the British and Irish Lions’ summer tour due to injury, but he made a comeback in action as Scotland wrapped up their series of autumn internationals with a consolation victory over Tonga.
Glasgow advanced one round further by defeating Leinster in the quarter-finals while Sale were defeated by Toulouse in the last 16 last year.
The first pool game of the season’s tournament will be played by both teams on Friday.
