Trump to host Netanyahu at White House on December 29: Israeli government

United States President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on December 29, according to an Israeli government spokesperson.

The announcement on Monday did not provide any further details of the planned meeting, which the pair had tentatively announced last week.

It came a day after Netanyahu said he expected to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza with Trump, as well as “opportunities for peace” in the region.

“The Prime Minister will meet with President Trump on Monday, December 29, they will discuss the future steps and phases and the international stabilisation force of the ceasefire plan,” government spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian said in an online briefing to reporters.

On Sunday, Netanyahu said the focus of the meeting would be on ending Hamas governance in Gaza and ensuring it fulfilled its “commitment” to the ceasefire plan, which calls for demilitarisation of the enclave. He added that the second phase of the ceasefire will be “more difficult”.

Despite over 590 Israeli violations, a US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza has mostly held since October 10. Israeli forces have killed at least 360 Palestinians in the enclave since the ceasefire began, raising the overall death toll to over 70,000.

The first phase of the ceasefire related mainly to the exchange of Israeli captives and Palestinians held by Israel, as well as Israel’s withdrawal from parts of Gaza.

Phase two of the deal would concern post-war governance, a deeply thorny issue that remains largely unresolved, with only a vague US road map.

Still to be determined are questions of leadership, future Palestinian self-determination and the role of any international stabilisation force.

The meeting also comes as Trump has heaped pressure on Netanyahu to forge a new security agreement with the fledgling government of Ahmed al-Sharaa in Syria.

In a post on social media last week, Trump called on Israel to seek “strong and true dialogue” with Syria.

That followed repeated incursions and airstrikes by Israel that have largely derailed talks.

Should Lewis Cope have been sent home on Strictly? Take our poll and have your say

Lewis Cope was dramatically sent home from Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, despite being one of the highest performing stars

This weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing delivered a result nobody could’ve expected. Emmerdale star Lewis Cope had been a firm favourite throughout the series, having landed several perfect scores.

But in a very unexpected twist, he and his professional dance partner, Katya Jones, found themselves in the bottom two against Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin.

Both couples performed their routines again, with Amber and Nikita doing the Charleston to Sit Down You’re Rockin The Boat from Guys and Dolls, while Lewis and Katya danced the Salsa to Dance at the Gym from West Side Story.

While it was shocking that both couples had found themselves in the bottom two, the result was even more shocking. Head judge Shirley Ballas decided to save Amber and Nikita, as did Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke. But it was Motsi Mabuse who had the casting vote this week.

She also decided to save Amber and Nikita, meaning that Lewis and Katya narrowly missed out on a place in next week’s semi-final. If you can’t see the poll, click here.

Shirley’s reaction after Lewis’ performance during the dance off has since gone viral on social media. The star was seen putting her head in her hands on her desk, while Motsi also looked visibly stunned as they were forced to make a difficult decision.

Speaking about his experience on the show, Lewis said: “It’s been more than I could have ever wished for. If someone would have said that I’d have done 11 weeks on the show at the beginning, I’d have been over the moon and snap their hand off.

“So, thank you to the full show, to everyone for having a space where people can be themselves, grow, learn, express themselves. It’s been incredible and a memory that I’ll have for the rest of my life, and [to Katya] I think it’s all down to you. You’ve literally given me absolutely everything I could wish for as a friend, as a teacher, and yeah, I couldn’t imagine it with anybody else. So, thank you very much.”

Meanwhile, Katya told Lewis that he had created moments on the show which will go down in Strictly history – including being the best male celebrity to have ever participated.

She said: “I think you have created so many moments for Strictly Come Dancing that will be in the history books and you will be remembered as one of, if not the best male celebrity we’ve ever had on the show, but also you will be remembered for being an incredible person you are.

“Kind and genuine people still exist – what a gentleman you are, so humble and so kind. And I’m so glad that we had a chance to see you and showcase your talent, and what a beautiful person you are to the world. Thank you.”

Judi Dench admits ‘I can’t remember what I’m doing tomorrow’ as she shares health update

Dame Judi Dench has opened up about her declining health as she admitted that she can no longer see the TV due to her deteriorating eyesight

Dame Judi Dench has spoken candidly about her deteriorating eyesight, describing the health struggle as a “crusher”. The beloved actress discussed her condition openly during a Radio Times interview, just hours before celebrating her 91st birthday on Tuesday.

In a heartfelt revelation, she confessed that her vision has been deteriorating for several years and she’s now unable to watch television.

The celebrated performer received an Age-related Macular Degeneration diagnosis in 2012, a condition that can result in permanent and swift central vision loss, representing the leading cause of sight deterioration in those aged over 50.

Whilst the illness doesn’t lead to complete blindness, it can make routine daily activities considerably challenging. “It’s a crusher,” Judi acknowledged, after disclosing that both her eyes are now beyond medical intervention as they’ve reached the advanced “wet” phase of AMD.

When questioned about what she misses most, she remarked: “I miss seeing Clive Myrie doing Mastermind, but I can hear the questions.”

The actress had to give up a lot of daily tasks such as driving, embroidery and even going out alone. Nevertheless, Judi hasn’t retired from acting, continuing to receive assistance from friends and colleagues who read her scripts aloud, which she then memorises using her exceptional photographic recall, reports the Express.

Despite being able to recite endless Shakespeare works from memory, she disclosed that her short-term recall is poor. “But I can’t remember what I’m doing tomorrow, I swear to you,” she confessed.

During one moment in the interview, Judi requested that the interviewer verify details with her assistants, who subsequently confirmed they help coordinate virtually every element of her daily routine.

It comes as she previously explained how some people perceive her as snobbish because she doesn’t greet them, when, in reality, she simply cannot make them out.

She told ITV News: “People think, ‘Oh, get her. She’s got very grand.’ It’s because I can’t see!” When Sir Ian asked whether she ever approaches “complete strangers” saying “lovely to see you again,” Dame Judi chuckled before admitting this occurs “sometimes”.

Despite this, the acclaimed actress remains incredibly active, as she is set to appear in a Christmas television advert for disaster relief charity ShelterBox featuring her handing over a red lacy thong as a present to her friend and fellow actress Dame Imelda Staunton.

She’s also reuniting with Sir Ian, her co-star from what many regard as the greatest ever production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth fifty years ago, to support a new initiative designed to bring the Bard’s work to younger generations.

Inside AngryGinge’s pre-jungle trip to Monaco with F1 world champion Lando Norris

Newly crowned King of the Jungle AngryGinge treated himself to 24 hours of luxury in Monaco with F1 world champion Lando Norris before heading into the Australian jungle

Streamer AngryGinge has just been crowned King of the Jungle after winning this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, but it seems the YouTube star already had a taste of luxury life with none other than F1 winner Lando Norris.

Morgan Braithwaite, who goes by AngryGinge, boarded a British Airways flight to Nice, France, before travelling to Monaco with his team to meet up with Lando, in a bid to spend 24 hours in the driver’s life.

Lando has just taken home a crown of his own, winning the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend in a thrilling championship fight with teammate Oscar Piastri and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

A year prior, the 26-year-old hosted AngryGinge in his home, serving him a racers lunch of pulled chicken tacos, lime, pineapple, and slaw, which Ginge claimed tasted like “sh*t”, before shadowing Lando in his usual training plan.

Ginge said he “can’t imagine [being an F1 driver is] hard, he sits on his a*** all day” but struggled during the gym workout. He then tried out a cryochamber, set at minus 105 degrees, and insisted on keeping his Crocs on, despite warnings that they’d be “really cold” after.

Ginge also tried out neck workouts that are necessary for F1 driving, due to to counteract the immense G-forces (up to 6G or more) experienced in corners. “It’s fascinating and I don’t even watch the sport,” Ginge commented.

Lando took Ginge and the rest of the team on a road trip in his Lamborghini, and along the way they stopped to enjoy some crepes. Lando liked them so much he ended up licking his plate clean. Later, he surprised everyone by treating them to a helicopter ride over Monaco.

The British racer’s earnings have steadily climbed since his debut season, and in 2024 he inked a lucrative new agreement keeping him at McLaren through to 2027. The deal is believed to net him approximately $21million (£15million) annually.

Taking into account this contract along with his various sponsorship deals with brands like Richard Mille, Monster Energy and PlayStation, Celebrity Net Worth places his wealth at roughly $70million (£52million).

When he signed his new deal last January, Norris remarked: “It’s a great feeling… I’ve grown up with McLaren and feel at home here, the team are like family to me.

“The journey so far has been exciting. We’ve had ups and downs, but last season showed our desire to get back to competing at the front of the grid.”

Meanwhile, in the last year alone, AngryGinge is predicted to have made an impressive fortune between £804,000 and £1.1 million – just from social media. A far cry from his first-ever Twitch stream.

Morgan launched his career five years ago on the streaming platform, where users can watch and broadcast live videos, often video game content. Here, they can earn money from subscriptions, adverts and Bits, a virtual currency which can be used to support creators.

His first video, in which he streamed FIFA in October 2020, drew inspiration from Castro1021. But he peaked at just 40 viewers in his first stream, banking a small sum of £12.44. Several months after launching his channel, he took a break as he had averaged between six and seven viewers. But a year later, he returned with a regular streaming schedule during the week and went on to amass a huge number of subscribers.

Trump to sign ‘one-rule’ executive order on AI to bypass US state approvals

United States President Donald Trump has said he will sign an executive order creating “one rulebook” for artificial intelligence (AI) development.

The announcement on Monday via Trump’s Truth Social account represented the US president’s latest effort to remove AI barriers, a priority of his administration that has raised concerns related to oversight of the transformative technology.

Trump said the so-called “one rule executive order” would override state approvals of AI, although the legality of such a presidential action remained unclear.

“There must be only One Rulebook if we are going to continue to lead in AI,” he said. “We are beating ALL COUNTRIES at this point in the race, but that won’t last long if we are going to have 50 States, many of them bad actors, involved in RULES and the APPROVAL PROCESS.”

“THERE CAN BE NO DOUBT ABOUT THIS! AI WILL BE DESTROYED IN ITS INFANCY!” Trump added, employing his typical use of all-capital letters.

The announcement comes as the White House has pushed for provisions creating a federal AI framework to be added to this year’s defence budget.

The initiative has divided members of Trump’s Republican Party, which has traditionally strongly supported the rights of states and a smaller federal government.

Opponents included Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, formerly a staunch supporter of Trump, who has broken with him on several issues.

“States must retain the right to regulate and make laws on AI and anything else for the benefit of their state,” she wrote in November.

State lawmakers from across the political spectrum have also warned against federal actions that would override state policies.

“In recent years, legislatures across the country have passed AI-related measures to strengthen consumer transparency, guide responsible government procurement, protect patients, and support artists and creators,” they wrote in a letter to Congress in November.

“These laws represent careful, good-faith work to safeguard constituents from clear and immediate AI-related harms. A federal preemption measure on state AI laws risks sweeping these protections aside and leaving communities exposed,” they said.

Trump has maintained close ties with AI and tech leaders since taking office in January.

He has already signed an executive order calling for the removal of “barriers” to AI innovation. He has also published a so-called AI action plan and an AI “Genesis Mission”.
