Scholes stopped commentary work to care for son

Paul Scholes, a former Manchester United midfielder, claims he has stopped doing commentary work to fit his autism son’s routine into his schedule.

The 20-year-old is co-parented by his ex-wife, a former England professional football player.

The 50-year-old left the sport in 2013 and began working as a pundit and commentator before moving into management.

On the podcast Stick to Football, Scholes said, “Everything I’m going to do right now just works around him.”

“Everything is built around his day, even though I work in the studio.”

Scholes initially attempted to handle the situation privately, but he later revealed that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had dropped him while initially keeping his son’s diagnosis a secret during his playing career.

One of United’s key players for the 1999 Treble season, Scholes, said, “I never got a break from it, even when I was playing,” adding that it was very difficult in those days.

He was two and a half years old, according to the doctor, who didn’t believe they made the diagnosis until that time. But you initially recognized a problem, but I never learned about it until you discover the diagnosis.

“I can’t recall when I first saw it when we were playing Derby away.”

The manager dropped me the following week, but I hadn’t told anyone, I recall. I finally told them about it a few weeks later because it was difficult.

“I don’t want sympathy or anything else, even now.” Even if I did talk to someone about it, I still believed Aiden wouldn’t benefit from it.

What happens when you’re not here, as you’re getting older, is the main concern right now? That’s the thought that keeps going through my mind.

A range of conditions that affect a person’s communication and interaction with the world around them as well as their interests and behaviors are known as autism spectrum disorder (also known as its medical name).

India’s Iyer improving ‘every day’ after lacerating spleen in Australia

Shreyas Iyer, an Indian batsman who injured his spleen while taking a one-day hit against Australia, claims he is “getting better every passing day.”

After pulling off a sensational catch to take Alex Carey out for a third ODI in Sydney on Saturday, the 30-year-old vice-captain doubled over in pain.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India revealed that he had internal bleeding and was taken to the hospital.

Iyer’s first comments on social media since the incident on Thursday stated that he is currently in the recovery process and that he is getting better every day.

“I’m incredibly appreciative of the kind wishes and support I’ve received; it means a lot to me.

He continued, “Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts.”

Suryakumar Yadav, the Twenty20 captain of India, claimed the injury was “rare” and that doctors and physiotherapists had been treating him to.

However, it happens with a limited talent. He said, “God is with him, and he will recover soon, and we will take him along with us.”

Iyer is not a member of India’s T20 squad, which will play on Friday at the sold-out Melbourne Cricket Ground for their second of five matches against Australia.

Liverpool Crisis Mounts After League Cup Exit Against Palace

The growing crisis at Anfield was compounded by Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win in the fourth round on Wednesday, which caused Liverpool to be eliminated from the League Cup.

In all competitions, Ismaila Sarr’s side have lost six games, including their first two victories, while Yeremy Pino scored the third.

As he gave Liverpool’s crucial games against Aston Villa, Real Madrid, and Manchester City priority over the upcoming two weeks, Slot selected a weaker team.

However, Liverpool’s humiliating result came right after a 3-2 defeat at Brentford on Saturday, which added to their spluttering Premier League title defense.

The Reds are seven points clear of Arsenal in their final four league games.

Bayern Set European Records with two goals as Kane equals the second-most goals scored.

Arne Slot, the Dutch manager of Liverpool, reacts following the Liverpool and Crystal Palace football team’s fourth-round encounter at Anfield in Liverpool, north-west England, on October 29, 2025. (Photo by Paul ELLIS/AFP)

Losing six out of seven is not in line with Liverpool standards, Slot said. However, there are only two days to rest before moving on to the next one, two days to rest between Real Madrid and Man City.

Everyone has a different opinion, but I’ve made the decision because we have about 15 to 16 first team players available.

“We already had a lot of pressure to deal with three very challenging teams this week.”

Liverpool’s fall from grace has been stunning despite criticism of their defensive woes and the poor form of their biggest-money signings, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.

As Slot made ten changes and fielded teenagers Trey Nyoni, Rio Ngumoha, and Isak, Wirtz, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk all without.

FA Cup holders Palace have now defeated Liverpool three times in just 80 days, a gamble that never seemed to work.

In the Premier League, they defeated the Reds 2-1 on penalties in the Community Shield.

In a bid to revive Liverpool, Slot changed to a back three, but Joe Gomez’s error saw Sarr fire home from 12 yards in the 41st minute.

Sarr, a Senegalese winger, scored from Pino’s pass in front of the shell-shocked Kop to increase Palace’s lead at half-time.

Amara Nallo, a substitute for Liverpool’s Amara Nallo, was shown a professional foul on Justin Devenny in the 79th minute.

In the 88th minute, Pino scored Palace’s third goal to secure a place in the Arsenal final eight.

Man City survives the scare

Holders Newcastle defeated Tottenham 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals at St James’ Park.

Newcastle’s opener was headed by Fabian Schar from Sandro Tonali’s corner in the 24th minute, and Nick Woltemade headed in from Jacob Ramsey’s cross in the 50th minute.

Manchester City defeated second-place Swansea 3-1 to reach the quarter-finals at home to Brentford.

Goncalo Franco’s 12th-minute goal gave City a 1-0 lead over Aston Villa last week, which made 10 changes.

City were level in the 39th minute thanks to Jeremy Doku’s deflected strike, and Omar Marmoush scored in the 77th before Rayan Cherki’s stoppage-time effort made the comeback.

At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal defeated Brighton 2-0 to claim eight straight victories, winning the League Cup for the first time since 1993.

With 14 minutes left, Ethan Nwaneri fired into the bottom corner with a close strike from Ethan Nwaneri.

Max Dowman, the youngest starter at Arsenal ever at the age of 15, was 302 days old, according to manager Mikel Arteta, who added: “It’s definitely something special.

He has demonstrated incredible skill to pass players at the age of 15 against him.

After winning 4-3 at struggling Wolves, Chelsea’s understudy will travel to third-tier Cardiff in the last eight.

For Chelsea, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, Estevao Willian, and Jamie Gittens each scored, with Toluwalase Arokodare and David Wolfe scoring twice before giving the win.

Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca called Liam Delap “stupid” and “embarrassing” after he was sent off in the 86th minute for two bookings.

How Kane’s NFL dream could become a reality

NFL Week 9 of the 2025 season

Harry Kane, England’s captain of football, has made no secret of his desire to play in the NFL one day.

The 32-year-old Bayern Munich striker stated last month that “trying to play football in America is always something that comes to mind.”

In 2023, he declared, “I know it will be a lot of hard work.” I don’t anticipate kicking field goals like a rocket. There would be a lot of practice.

How Brady sparked Kane’s obsession with the NFL

Football writer Henry Winter discussed what the future might hold for England’s all-time top goalscorer as Kane prepared to take his 100th cap in September in front of BBC Radio 5 Live.

According to Winter, “If I were taking a punt, as it were,” he would say that the NFL would have him play kickoff in three years. He has discussed it, he has a close relationship with Tom Brady, and it has been done before.

After watching a 2011 documentary about legendary quarterback Brady, Kane became a New England Patriots fan. As a young footballer, he was inspired by the documentary.

He and Brady, both of whom are now retired, became friends after watching the Patriots win the 2019 Super Bowl in Atlanta.

Kane stated in a 2023 interview on Good Morning America, the most popular morning show in the US, that he wants to “definitely explore” the possibility of playing kicker in the NFL when he retires from the game.

Why can former police officer Colquitt assist Kane?

Dustin Colquitt followed his father Craig’s example by winning the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 and playing for the NFL.

Colquitt played for the Chiefs for 15 seasons, recording the most games of the franchise with 238, but he always had a dream to play in the Premier League.

He still has a big football fan in his high school, earning offers for college scholarships.

When asked if Kane could play for the NFL, Colquitt replied, “Absolutely, if he focused on it. “He did it. He would be fantastic. Some of his finishing abilities have caught my eye.

I would love to collaborate with him simply because I enjoy soccer and his enthusiasm. He wants to try this NFL thing out because it’s at the core of his being.

A team’s punter almost always holds the ball for kickers. A punter literally holds the kicker’s job in his hands, Colquitt says, and if you have a bad hold, really bad things happen.

Therefore, Kane needs an experienced kicking holder if and when he begins to practice kick. Otherwise, his quest to become a two-sport athlete may have already begun.

Knowing where the laces [on the ball] are, if you’ve got wind, is extremely important, Colquitt said.

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to play this video.

Why does Kane believe that he is more advantageous?

Colquitt claimed that punters and kickers typically think that “you’ve got one shot and you better kill it” when approaching each kick.

They’re only necessary when they are needed, but when they are counted on, they must be money, he continued.

Kickers must kick a stationary ball between the posts for field goals or extra points after a touchdown (PAT), while punters do so with their hands downfield.

In 2021, Kane told Gary Neville and Kane that an NFL kicker’s kicks are “almost the equivalent of a penalty kick.”

Kane has missed just one penalty out of 105 since his World Cup miss against France in December 2022, not including shootouts, in his senior career.

When the pressure is greatest, when the game is on the line, can you score penalties or kick it long in training? Kane confided to Neville.

Which footballers have switched to the NFL?

When Winter referred to former Austrian footballer Toni Fritsch as saying “it has been done before.”

The Dallas Cowboys traveled to Europe to find similar kickers after Pete Gogolak made the NFL’s 1960s debut by introducing football-style kicking and discovering Fritsch, who left football at age 26 to pursue an NFL career.

At the conclusion of his first season, the Cowboys won the 1972 Super Bowl, and Fritsch was given a championship ring despite suffering from an injury.

After playing football in Europe, Garo Yepremian, Morten Andersen, Jan Stenerud, Toni Linhart, and Neil O’Donoghue also became NFL kickers, while Clive Allen, age 35, tried his luck with the London Monarchs in 1997.

The former Tottenham and England striker scored six of his six field goals and seven of his ten penalty kicks, but none of them came from beyond 40 yards, which is where his American football career ended.

The fact that Nick Folk and Matt Prater are still making field goals at the age of 41 gives Kane hope that Brandon Aubrey and Harrison Butker, the current NFL kicker, Brandon Aubrey (Dallas Cowboys), Harrison Butker (Kansas City Chiefs), and Cairo Santos (Chicago Bears) have all played football.
