War in Sudan: Humanitarian, fighting, control developments, October 2025

Sudan’s civil conflict between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the regular army, known as the Sudan Armed Forces, is still persuasive.

Both sides are accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the third year of the conflict. Additionally, the RSF is suspected of carrying out genocides, particularly in Darfur’s encroachment.

What significant humanitarian, political, and battlefield developments are occurring this month?

  • After capturing the besieged city of El-Fasher on October 26, the RSF now effectively controls the entire western region of Darfur.
  • It launched a mass killing campaign against civilians fleeing to remote villages and towns after the RSF invaded El-Fasher. At least 1,500 people were killed in 48 hours, according to Sudan Doctors Network, the local monitor.
  • At the end of October, the RSF also seized Baraa, a crucial town in North Kordofan state. In Baraa, it is reported that the RSF allegedly violated serious human rights. At least 47 people were murdered in their homes, and more than 4,500 have been displaced from their homes, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.

The RSF is now prepared to attack el-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, after capturing Baraa and el-Fasher. The SAF could suffer a significant setback from the loss of the city because it serves as a significant buffer to the army-controlled central and eastern Sudan.

Humanitarian crisis

  • Tens of thousands of people are hiding in underground trenches in El-Fasher from RSF troops, or they are attempting to travel through remote towns, which are about 60 kilometers (37 miles) away.
  • It had laid a suffocating siege on the city for more than 18 months prior to the RSF’s capture of El-Fasher. Hundreds of thousands of residents were forced to flee by the siege, while those who remained avoided starvation by consuming local “ambaz” animal fodder. Those who are now making their way through the desert to safety are at risk of passing out from thirst and road hunger.
  • Tom Fletcher, the UN’s top aid official, described the horrifying plight of those trying to flee El-Fasher and said “women and girls are being raped and people are being mutilated.”
  • Just over 33 000 people have moved into nearby towns, according to the International Organization for Migration. Most newcomers rely on local volunteers for food and shelter, but most of them lack adequate shelter and food.
  • North Kordofan’s situation is also catastrophic. About 1,900 people from Bara, according to the Sudan Doctors Network, made the trip to El-Obeid. The majority of people sleep in open-air huts without roofs or adequate sanitation.
  • The SAF took the initiative by designating two top World Food Program officials as “persona non grata,” raising questions about the SAF’s commitment to addressing the hunger crisis despite the country’s famine-level hunger epidemic. The officials allegedly violated their “neutrality,” according to Sudan’s state-run news agency without providing any further justification.
  • The expulsions of two of WFP’s top officials “jeopardizes” their humanitarian efforts at a time when 24 million people are enduring food insecurity across the nation, according to a statement from WFP.

political and diplomatic developments

  • On October 25, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, four countries that are part of the Quad, met in Washington to discuss putting together a roadmap to end the conflict. The Quad reportedly agreed to form a symbolic “joint committee” to put an end to the conflict with little success and reportedly made no progress.
  • Two days before the RSF invaded El-Fasher and committed new atrocities, the diplomatic meeting took place. In the past, the RSF has launched major offensives using peace talks and mediation. For instance, the RSF seized four of the five states in Darfur in a lightning rod attack in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, shortly after ceasefire negotiations had broken down.
  • Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the SAF commander, met with Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on October 16 to discuss a potential ceasefire.
  • To date, diplomatic efforts to put an end to the war have failed to significantly lessen atrocities or guarantee a fundamental ceasefire.

‘I’m a trans TV star, if my rights can be erased – yours will be next’

Following the Supreme Court’s decision earlier this year regarding what constitutes a “woman,” MAFS UK star Morgan, Ella openly discusses her lived experience as a transgender woman.

Morgan, Ella is no stranger to making history, she became the first transgender woman to appear on Married At First Sight UK star, and continues to be an inspiring, vocal advocate for transgender rights using her ever-blossoming platform.

Ella, a transgender woman, has appeared on podcasts where she has openly discussed her experiences as a transgender woman. She is never afraid to speak out as she continues to push for the much-needed rights for the transgender community. Following the Supreme Court’s disastrous ruling in April that stated the terms “woman” and “sex” refer to biological sex rather than gender identity, she is even more determined to do so. Ella has now spoken with the Mirror about how she feels attacked and excluded from society as a result of that regressive ruling from April in light of Trans Awareness Month, which falls in November.

“We need to do more to educate people, especially this year,” he said, adding that “more than ever, I’d probably say, trans people are still being attacked.” We are being squandered from society.

When people used to have their opinions about trans people, where we are, and what we should do and not do, we could still live and kind of do what we wanted, people now aren’t allowed to use the changing rooms that fit your gender, and this is all legal. We now have less rights than before it became a legal thing.

“When you begin picking on a minority, it becomes simple for politicians and the law to do the same and evict other minority members.” What else can they do if they can do this to a population that makes up less than one percent of the population and bans gay marriage? Yours will be the one wholly lost if my rights are to be revoked!

I’m afraid of it. You’re completely mistaken if you believe that they will stop at just us. Trans Awareness Month and especially Trans Awareness Week are both very important because of this.

We’ve spent a lot of time educating and trying to inspire people and raise awareness, and then suddenly all of that has been lost and taken away, making me feel quite sad and frightened.

She continues, “I’ve always said I’ll go to Parliament and that I’ll do everything I can to try to change things with the amazing team I have.” However, the funds are required. Because that’s not what it’s about, it’s not about trying to smuggle a narrative or agenda down someone’s throat. We’re trans, and we’re just trying to live authentically and to be seen as the gender we’ve always come to accept. All it is is is that.

We merely desire to exist like everyone else does. That month is crucial for us to educate people and show those who are uneducated or naive how bad our existence is and how bad things are for trans people. We require that, so we can anticipate that there will be educated, listened to, and hoped-to-support us in the month of November.

Non-trans people hold the greatest responsibility; we need more allies than ever. People at the top of media, radio, film, television, production, and podcasts also bear a lot of responsibility because the majority of people’s education is done through the masses, and the majority of that is done through media.

People “turned a blind eye to it” after the April ruling. I just find that if people don’t know anyone trans, they will think, “Well, because it doesn’t affect me, I don’t need to worry,” and that we must stop living in that bubble, or that world, where I could easily say that certain things don’t affect me, but I’m still going to support my friends.

Georgia Harrison gives birth to first child as she shows off newborn

Georgia Harrison, the star of Love Island, revealed in an Instagram video that she is expecting her first child. The 30-year-old made headlines online by posting a video of herself holding her child.

She wrote, “Have a great Halloween everyone. That’s the question, then, “Trick of Treat”? Georgia was seen in the Addams Family theme song throughout her various pregnancy stages, with the reality star clicking her fingers for each transition.

The clip ended with Georgia holding her newborn baby, who was wearing a seasonally appropriate pumpkin hat, after showing off various sizes of her pregnancy bump.

Just 10 months after meeting boyfriend Jack, 33, on a dating app, Georgia announced in April that she was expecting her first child. You become aware when you become aware. She told The Mirror at the time, “I know it’s cringey, but that’s definitely how we feel.”

“Anyone who knows us is aware of our strength and happiness.” Although some may think it’s too soon, we both knew we both wanted children, and we are thrilled to see this wonderful news.

Georgia received an MBE earlier this month for her efforts to support stronger laws addressing violence against women. She became the first Love Island star to receive the distinction.

After her ex-partner Stephen Bear shared surveillance video of their sexual encounter without her knowledge, Georgia set up a campaign with the Thames Valley Police to encourage people to talk about consent. In 2023, Bear was found guilty of voyeurism and two counts of making false information public about sexually explicit photos and videos.

The Love Island star said she hoped “girls can look at me and think “she went in there and done, she was strong, we can do it too” when she pleaded with other victims of sexually-based crimes that she stood with them.

Georgia described being appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire by Prince William at Windsor Castle in an earlier statement about her MBE.

“I’m very appreciative, and I’m going to be 100% more aggressive with my campaigning.” And given that I will be given this responsibility, it will be something that will really motivate me to continue to inspire change for women everywhere.

I’m feeling thrilled. Simply put, I was unaware of how magical the occasion would be. I was so happy to learn that Prince William was the one.

I had been anticipating that he might be one of the recipients, and I had actually discovered that when I was receiving the award, that he had been so invested in my efforts and had been keeping track of my story, which really meant a lot to me.

Faith, fire and a ticking clock for Buatsi – Bunce column

Images courtesy of Getty

Joshua Buatsi is a very close friend, but I have no idea who he is.

Buatsi is a very private man, who will face Zach Parker at light-heavyweight on Saturday night in Manchester.

He might be one of the most secretive boxers I’ve ever met.

He professes a strong Christian faith. He preaches from a pulpit. He does a lot of work in various nations around the world, particularly Ghana, a nation of his birth.

He doesn’t want any of this to be covered, and he doesn’t want any of it.

So there is no denying that Buatsi is a great man.

After watching him win the Olympic bronze medal for Great Britain at Rio 2016 in person, is he where I expected him to be as a boxer?

No, he’s not. He might be a little bit more developed, I believed. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t get where I expect him to go.

Buatsi has faced difficult, difficult fights since becoming a professional in 2017 without losing.

He is 32 years old but still a little young. He has learned a lot over the past two or three years. He hasn’t been fighting too much. He is neither tired nor weary.

What data are gathered from this quiz?

Missed opportunities and promoter hopping

Buatsi held his own against some of the best in the world when he competed in the amateurs at the World and European levels.

Richie Woodhall, a former world champion and current Team GB coach, was extremely supportive of him both before and while we were there.

Joe Joyce, Josh Kelly, Nicola Adams, and Savannah Marshall were present. However, Richie claimed that Buatsi was the one who was on the lookout for and was going under the radar.

He didn’t turn professional for more than a year after the Olympics, which is where I’m at.

He had thrust. People were talking about him when he signed with Anthony Joshua’s management company. For that long, you can’t go into hibernation.

I anticipated that Buatsi would take one or two years to really get going once he won the British title in 2019, but Covid arrived.

Covid’s career was slowed down by the use of him as an excuse, but that’s okay.

Buatsi has also admitted to occasionally jumping ship and being promoter-hopping, which never helps his career.

Buatsi’s reputation was not harmed by Smith’s defeat.

Buatsi has been put to the test in 20 professional fights, despite everything I just said.

He has defeated Craig Richards, Dan Azeez, and Willie Hutchinson before falling to Callum Smith from 2022 to 2050.

Even in defeat, a boxer can become a better fighter thanks to all four of those foes. Azeez’s fight was the highlight of the year. There were moments in the Hutchinson conflict. The Richards fight was excellent.

Buatsi established his position in the division after Smith, a contender for the title, was defeated in Saudi Arabia.

Although there were only two or three rounds, I believed Smith had won. It was too wide according to the judge who gave it to Smith by nine rounds.

Buatsi still has a chance to win the world title.

Warren’s involvement with Parker demonstrates his faith in his fighter.

Both fighters rank among the top ten light-heavyweights worldwide. It’s a fantastic fight, and Buatsi would have a strong advantage in it.

Perhaps Queensberry will produce a fly-on-the-wall documentary to give us a little more insight into him.

Although he won’t like this, Buatsi’s exposure isn’t helped by his being so secretive outside the ring.

Although the most recent Love Island star does not appear in his character when he leaves nightclubs at 3am, Buatsi has more to offer than meets the eye.

After the fight, you occasionally experience his adrenaline rush and that little venom. Perhaps we need to see a little more of that fire.

I’m A Celebrity star quits boyband tour after going missing from first reunion show

One music star has left the scheduled dates after missing the first show, but Five have reunited for a massive UK tour.

A huge music star has decided to quit Five’s reunion tour after missing the first show this week. The boyband kicked off their tour on Wednesday in Cardiff.

However, huge musician and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant Naughty Boy was nowhere to be seen after signing up to be the band’s support act. He was due to open for Five and get the crowd going with his hits La La La and Runnin’.

Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, expressed his “deep regret” over having to leave the tour. He stated that he cannot travel with Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abz Love, and Jason J. Brown on their Keep On Movin’ 2025 tour.

Naughty Boy wrote, “This wasn’t an easy decision, and I think you should believe it.” I made an effort because I wanted to share the stage with the boys and see you all, but it wasn’t.

For any inconvenience that may have been caused, I sincerely apologize to Five, my team, and all the amazing fans. Thank you. The tour will be fantastic, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone when I’m better.

Back in March, the music star was announced as Five’s support. Fans were disappointed when he failed to show up on stage on Wednesday night, leaving him there.

As Naughty Boy’s fans gathered outside the arena to watch him perform, it is said that all of his equipment was waiting for him.

Five rekindled their support earlier this year by announcing their comeback following their breakup in 2001. The group has since reconnected in various ways over the years, and they have been performing as a trio consisting of Ritchie, Sean, and Scott.

The group announced the news on social media by writing, “It’s true, the five of us are reuniting for a tour across the UK! We’ve been waiting for this for a long time, and it now feels right for everyone – 25 years later, we’re so excited about it.

“We really can’t wait to get back on stage together and see you all in person, it’s gonna go OFF!! Let’s goooooo!” Speaking to the Mirror about the reunion, J admitted the ball first got rolling for him when he started speaking to Abz and Sean after more than 10 years of silence.

J can happily admit that, for the first time since 2001, things just came together naturally while Ritchie and other members were in talks. There was much more at stake, Scott admitted, “We didn’t care about a tour at first.”

“Reconnecting as humans was everything we cared about.” That was, in my opinion, first and foremost”. The group met at an AirBnB ten years later, and Scott gushed of the moment, “Obviously I had such an amazing experience back in the day.

We can go on tour and do it as friends, for me personally, and I know that’s all we wanted to do, reconnect with them in AirBnB, and then reconnect on that friendship level. Then I realized when the job was offered that, for all the right reasons, we could actually accomplish that.
