MAFS UK stars expose huge show secrets including strict phone rule

Married At First Sight UK contestants Leigh and Davide have discussed behind-the-scenes secrets about phone use and restrictions

A star from Married At First Sight UK has opened up on a little-known secret about the show that might leave fans gobsmacked.

The tenth series of the popular E4 dating programme was full of drama and chaos, with a fresh batch of singletons hoping to meet their soulmate at the altar. For some, it was smooth sailing with immediate sparks flying, but for others, there were numerous hurdles to overcome.

This series had everything from shocking revelations to accusations of cheating. Despite several couples making it to the final vows and continuing their relationships outside the show, only one pair – Abi and John – are still together weeks after the series ended.

Post-show, a string of breakups were announced, including Rebecca and Bailey and Davide and Keye, as cast members continue to share their experiences from the show.

Now, one participant has unveiled a behind-the-scenes secret that could astonish some viewers, reports OK!

During an appearance on the Private Parts Podcast, a snippet of which was posted on Instagram, members Leigh and Davide were asked if they were allowed to use their personal mobile phones during filming. The answer, unsurprisingly, is no – they were given production phones.

But what fans might not know is that the production teams allegedly monitor their phones and don’t permit them to form groups of four outside of filming.

On the podcast, Leigh – who was paired with Leah on the programme, confessed it was “f***** chaos” behind the scenes when the cast went out for drinks, with Davide comparing it to “like being at uni again”.

Content cannot be displayed without consent

Davide, who was coupled with Keye on the series before they announced their separation, revealed: “We’re not supposed to be in more than groups of four, because they track your phones, the production phones they gave us, they track them.”

After confirming they weren’t permitted to use their personal mobiles, presenter Olivia questioned how participant Steven managed to access dating platform Hinge – following revelations he’d been active on the app.

Davide explained: “He got his phone back when he went home.”

Leigh chimed in: “This is the thing about this story right, I don’t think that this has ever been explained. So Nelly and Steven had got to a point where I think they both knew it wasn’t going to work.”

Taking to Instagram to respond, Steven posted: “We both had the conversation the day we came back together after partner swap about it being done. We were asked to leave it open so we could do the Dinner Party & Commitment ceremony & between partner swap and the last CC it was about 10 days wait… so we both knew it was done.”

Manchester City beat Real Madrid 2-1 to pile pressure on Xabi Alonso

Erling Haaland scored his 34th goal for club and country this season to give Manchester City a 2-1 win at Real Madrid and leave Xabi Alonso’s position as coach of the Spanish giants in grave danger.

Without injured superstar Kylian Mbappe, Madrid took the lead on Wednesday through Rodrygo, but Nico O’Reilly and a Haaland penalty secured Pep Guardiola’s City the three points.

Spanish media reported in the lead-up to the game that a defeat would seal Alonso’s fate as Madrid coach, although his team’s performance was creditable, despite the eventual outcome at a frustrated Bernabeu stadium.

The record 15-time Champions League winners have now won just two of their last eight matches across all competitions, and face a battle for a place in the top eight of the league phase table.

Alonso was forced to leave his team’s top scorer, Mbappe, on the bench, saying it would have been “a risk” to use him amid knee discomfort, and starting 21-year-old striker Gonzalo Garcia instead.

Madrid knocked out City in last season’s Champions League playoff round in February, as Mbappe scored four of their goals in the 6-3 aggregate win.

This was the 15th meeting between these sides, in what has become a modern Champions League classic, and it started at lightning speed, with Vinicius Junior heavily involved in the opening exchanges.

Madrid’s Brazilian forward was felled by Matheus Nunes with the referee pointing to the spot, but a VAR review showed the contact was outside the area.

Fede Valverde’s ferocious free kick was deflected wide by O’Reilly, before Vinicius dinked just wide of goal after Rodrygo found him with a perfect low cross, which coaxed City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma off his line.

It was deserved when the hosts took the lead in the 28th minute, with Rodrygo finishing a move started by Alvaro Carreras at the other end of the pitch.

Madrid broke forward, and Jude Bellingham fed the Brazilian, who finished early and low, across Donnarumma and into the far corner.

It was his first goal in 33 games, ending a barren and frustrating spell for Rodrygo, and also his fifth against City. In 2022, his stunning late brace helped Madrid defeat Guardiola’s side in the semifinals.

Madrid’s opening half-hour was close to perfect, but City pulled level out of the blue after a mistake from Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The keeper could not hold on to Josko Gvardiol’s header, and O’Reilly gratefully tapped home the loose ball in the 35th minute.

Guardiola was not pleased with his team’s first-half display, but they went in ahead after Antonio Rudiger held Haaland in the back, and City were awarded a penalty.

The Norwegian striker, who will face Mbappe’s France at the World Cup next summer, sent Courtois the wrong way from the spot.

Courtois made amends for his earlier error with a fine double save to thwart Haaland and Rayan Cherki before the break, and Jeremy Doku after it.

England international Bellingham might have levelled for Madrid, but chipped over after Rodrygo cleverly slipped him in.

Alonso brought on Arda Guler for Garcia and shifted Bellingham into a central attacking role, of the kind he enjoyed under Carlo Ancelotti in his spectacular first season with Madrid.

The Basque coach also turned to youngster Endrick, whom he has hardly utilised at all since arriving, and the 19-year-old headed inches over the crossbar with five minutes to go.

Madrid were short of ideas in the second half and may look to another coach for new ones in the coming days

Haaland told TNT Sports that it was a tough place to come and get a result.

“We had lots of chances, but the game was chaotic, and we struggled to control it,” he said. “These are the games you want to play, and with this new format, you get to play more UCL games. I like it.”

Guardiola said his side is still in transition and is not yet equipped to win the Champions League.

“In February, we will be much better, but one wrong pass and we lose today,” he said.

“The players made an incredible effort, and the spirit is unbelievable, but there is still some way to go.”

Bellingham defended Alonso after the game, saying he has a “great relationship” with the Madrid boss.

“After a run of draws, we thought we would go on a run after that, but we know we need to pick up again and take it on the chin,” Bellingham said.

Davina McCall secretly marries Michael Douglas after whirlwind engagement

Davina McCall has married Michael Douglas in a romantic low key ceremony, just three months after they got engaged. The couple are said to have tied the knot on Friday in a ceremony attended by family and close friends.

Michael has been by Davina’s side throughout her recent health battles including a brain tumour and breast cancer. The pair are said to have married the day before they attended their friend’s larger wedding.

Davina has had a tough year but there was some joy when the pair got engaged in September. Speaking about their engagement, Davina confessed she nearly ruined his romantic proposal because she was “miserable”.

Speaking about the cliff-top proposal, she said: “It happened in Ibiza. What was quite funny was after after lunch Michael had booked a lunch which was like, not that usual on a beach and he wanted to take me to a beach where we’d been with all the kids before. So I was like, ‘Oh, this is really nice.’ And then he said, ‘Let’s go for a walk around the cliffs.’

“Now I’m in Ibiza right? When I’m in Ibiza, I dress for Ibiza, Chris. I’m in some god-forsaken cowboy boot, little pink cowboy boots with steel toe caps and I’m not in a cliff climbing outfit ….

“He recited something that was lovely and then he got down on one knee. But what was quite funny is he’d spent the year before getting down on one knee and tying a pretend shoelace. So I’d go, ‘Oh my gosh, he’s proposing’. And then he’d tie a pretend shoelace and I go, ‘Ah.’ So after four or five of those, it just became an in joke.”

Davina and Michael’s wedding was at a small venue, with just relatives and 10 friends in attendance.

A source told The Sun: “Their wedding was perfect, exactly what they wanted. They chose a small venue close to their home, and just invited about ten of their friends and relatives to be there with them.

“It was very intimate and everyone who attended is very special in their lives. They’ve been through a huge amount in recent months, with Davina’s health, and it just felt right to formalise their marriage. They didn’t see the point in waiting. The next day they just carried on with life as normal, and as coincidence would have it they were guests at another friend’s wedding day.

“So they went as a married couple for the first time and happily showed off her wedding ring. It was the perfect weekend.”

In September, Michael told The Mirror that they were happy as they were. He said: “There could be wedding bells on the way, who knows, I’m not going anywhere else if that’s why you mean. But we’re in no rush for any of that, we just enjoy each others company.”

Davina was previously married to Andrew Leggett from 1997 to 1999 and then married Matthew Robertson until their split in 2017. She has three children – Holly, Tilly and Chester with her ex Matthew.
