Simon Cowell addresses changing appearance for the first time – ‘I age backwards’

The X Factor star, 66, has opened up about how his looks have changed in recent years, including how he shed three stone and what cosmetic procedures he’s had done

Do you want to know how Simon Cowell shed three stone and which cosmetic procedures he’s had done? The former X Factor star has opened up about how his appearance has changed in the past five years.

Simon, 66, has shared that he lost three stone thanks to a strict workout regimen and by cutting his daily calories down to under a 1000 daily. He said in a recent interview that he has dropped sugar, dairy, red meat and gluten from his diet after he was told by a dietician that his prior eating habits made up “the worst diet he’d ever seen”.

In a candid chat with The Sun, he said eats “the same thing everyday”, including a protein smoothie for breakfast and half a hot cross bun for lunch. He added that his dinner is at 4:30pm, so he goes 17 hours without eating afterwards.

He added that he has “never been tempted” to try weight loss injections and instead has a gruelling workout plan. He cycles daily and “everyday I do somewhere between 300 and 600” push-ups.

This is all in an attempt to live longer. “I age backwards,” Simon said. “So instead of being 66, I consider myself to be 64. Next year, I will be 62. I think I can live to 100. If I can remove all my stress, carry on with the diet, and you know, we’re discovering new stuff all the time.”

Though Simon has a restrictive diet, the NHS recommends that the average adult consumes 2000 calories a day and limiting daily calories to under 1000 is not considered a healthy way to lose weight.

Simon added that he has had “thousands” of Botox units, but dispelled the rumour that he’s had a facelift. He admitted that he has had filler, but shared that he later saw a picture of himself and thought he looked “like a real weirdo” and had it all dissolved.

The music mogul has recently been working on a new Netflix TV show called The Next Act, where he tries to find the next big boyband. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Simon revealed that he almost stopped the show, due to changes in the music industry.

“”I almost pulled the plug,” he said. He then explained: “Things have changed so much. These boys are used to making music in their bedroom and now they’re in a live audition.”

US Congressman Randy Fine suggests Palestinians should ‘be destroyed first’

United States Congressman Randy Fine, an ally of President Donald Trump, has suggested that the Palestinian people should be destroyed, boasting that he is not afraid to be called Islamophobic.

During a congressional hearing on Tuesday, Fine – who has a long history of Islamophobic and anti-Palestinian statements – cited the myth that Israelis are banned from going to some areas in the occupied West Bank due to “apartheid” imposed against Israeli settlers.

In reality, the Israeli military, which controls the Palestinian territory, has signs warning settlers against entering Palestinian towns for safety concerns.

But settlers, often armed and protected by Israeli forces, regularly storm and ransack Palestinian villages. At least two US citizens have been killed in settler attacks this year.

“When you are dealing with a group of people who continually call for the destruction of the State of Israel, who are OK with signs that say, ‘Jews may not enter these areas’, we want to be free of Jews, how do you make peace with that?” Fine asked Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, during the hearing.

“How do you create a long-term solution with that? Or is there another way that we have to go?”

Klein – who previously used the slur “filthy Arab” and called for profiling Muslims in the US – said Islam needs to undergo a “reformation” and accept “Israel as a Jewish state”.

“Nobody wants to talk about it. They’re afraid of being called Islamophobic,” Klein said.

Fine interrupted, saying, “I’m not afraid of that.”

The Republican US congressman, who represents a district in the state of Florida, then doubled down on his volatile rhetoric.

“I don’t know how you make peace with those who seek your destruction. I think you destroy them first,” he said.

A United Nations convention defines genocide as “acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, including killing, causing harm, preventing births, forcibly transferring children, and imposing life conditions to cause destruction”.

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed nearly 70,400 Palestinians and turned nearly the entire territory into rubble, aimed to destroy the Palestinian people, leading rights groups and UN investigators have said.

Abed Ayoub, executive director at the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), slammed Fine, calling him “the Temu version of Benjamin Netanyahu,” referring to the discount online retailer and the Israeli prime minister.

“He’s hated by Republicans and Democrats for his policy of Israel first, Israel second, Israel third — Americans nowhere. He’s basically a foreign spokesperson at this point, and not even a good one,” Ayoub told Al Jazeera.

“His unhinged, genocidal rhetoric shows his desperation as he tries to appease his bosses back in Tel Aviv.”

This isn’t the first time that Fine – who was elected to Congress earlier this year with the endorsements of Trump and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) – has made inflammatory statements about Palestinians.

In 2021, Fine commented on a social post with a photo of a dead Palestinian child asking him how he sleeps at night with: “Quite well, actually! Thanks for the pic!”

Earlier this year, he wrote “starve away” in response to a report about the deadly hunger in Gaza due to the Israeli blockade.

Last year, Fine lauded the killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a US activist who was fatally shot by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank.

“Throw rocks, get shot. One less #MuslimTerror ist. #FireAway,” Fine wrote in a social media post.

He has also previously argued that fear of Muslims is warranted. “While many Muslims are not terrorists, they are the radicals, not the mainstream,” he wrote in a post on X in 2023. “Now is the time to speak truth, not bathe in political correctness that will kill us.”

Despite such comments, Fine – who refers to himself as the Hebrew Hammer – has been a regular guest on some mainstream media outlets, including CNN.

Hatem Abudayyeh, national chair of the US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), called out Republicans in Congress and Trump for failing to denounce Fine.

“It’s one thing to read disgusting, racist, anti-Palestinian, anti-Black, and xenophobic vile on social media 24-7, but we’re not supposed to hear it from actual elected officials in this country,” Abudayyeh told Al Jazeera.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery says he wants to “get a solution” for on-loan Harvey Elliott, who will “not definitely” be joining the club on a permanent basis.

The Liverpool midfielder, 22, has only featured seven times since moving to Villa Park on transfer deadline day.

A £35m permanent deal will be triggered if he plays in 10 Premier League games.

Elliott, who starred for England Under-21s as they won the European Championship last summer, is not in the squad for Thursday’s Europa League tie at Basel.

His last appearance came as a late substitute against Feyenoord in the Europa League on 2 October.

“First, my decision and also the situation. He is on loan playing with us, but he is not definitely adding to us with a permanent contract.

“Hopefully we can get the best for him and the best for us. I respect him as a player and as a person. He is training well, but we have one circumstance with him.

“Hopefully we can get a solution for him to try to play consistently and try to continue in his career with us or not.”

Elliott made just two Premier League starts as Liverpool won the title last season.

Sharon Osbourne breaks silence on devastating effect Ozzy’s death has had on Kelly

Sharon Osbourne admitted it had been a tough time for the whole family following Ozzy Osbourne’s passing, including their daughter Kelly Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne has revealed the devastating effect that Ozzy’s death has had on their daughter Kelly. Whilst Jack Osbourne has been busy in the jungle, Sharon and daughter Kelly have been cheering him on from home.

It has been a tough time for the whole family following the death of Ozzy Osbourne, who died earlier this year from a heart attack. For the first time, Sharon has opened up about the moment she found Ozzy dead and his final words he told her.

Jack spoke about his father during his time in the jungle and how his death was a huge shock. He shared: “It was definitely a shock, I mean we knew he was sick for a while but it was definitely a shock, I mean we didn’t know it would be that quick…

“It was the ultimate mic drop, he did a massive big gig and was like, alright I’m done … He’d be so supportive of this … I’m still navigating it all, it’s been three nearly four months and so it’s still pretty fresh.”

Jack also admitted there were moments where he would keep busy just to stop thinking about the sadness of losing his dad.

“It’s strange, too, because like I…I felt like I had to, like, a lot of it has been like, ‘I got…oh, I’ve gotta, you know, make sure the family’s good. I’ve got to, like, take on stuff. I gotta, you know, try and steer the ship a little bit through this,” he said.

“But it’s like having those moments in between that, like, ‘Must do something, must occupy, you know, this chaos with a task’, and when there’s no task, it’s like you feel that, like, slump, right? When you’re just kind of just being normal and not conducting anything. But yeah, it’s a trip.” Whilst Sharon and Kelly supported Jack in the jungle, Kelly has been struggling.

Speaking about her daughter’s weight loss, Sharon hit back at her critics, sharing: “She can’t eat right now … because she’s lost her daddy.” Addressing the trolls, she added: “It’s a shield for people that are unhappy.

“It’s a shield and jealousy and people’s perception of somebody else… And I just feel sorry for people, you know, something wrong with their lives. They’re not happy.”

Kelly has since spoken out to slam trolls who have criticised her over her changing appearance.

“First, I want to start by saying I received so many lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely comments from people that have really helped me get through this time in my life since losing my father. But I also receive some disgusting, horrible, mean, brutal comments, and I’m just here, sat, like, ‘What do you expect from me?’

“‘What do you expect me to look like right now?’ The fact that I’m getting out of bed and facing my life and trying should be more than enough and I should be commended for that. To everyone who is leaving these sick comments you need to take a strong, hard look at yourself because most of the things you are saying about me is how you feel about yourself.”

She added: “For example, you say that I look ill. Well, I am ill right now. My life is completely flipped upside down. I don’t understand why people expect me to bounce back and look like everything is just fine in my life, when it’s not.”

Cross River Assembly Removes LG Chairman, Orders Bye-Election

The Cross River State House of Assembly has removed the Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Council, Honourable Theresa Ushie, after adopting the report of its Committee on Judiciary and Public Petitions.

Her removal was upheld during Tuesday’s plenary, where 19 of the 25 lawmakers voted in favour.

The process began on June 10, 2025, following a petition submitted by eight councillors of the Bekwarra Legislative Council, which led to her 90-day suspension and the appointment of Vice Chairman Hon. Egbung Odama as Acting Chairman pending investigation.

Presenting the committee’s findings, Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Davies Eta (Abi State Constituency), said the petition dated May 19, 2025, raised serious concerns about council administration.

The councillors had accused the chairman of corruption, abuse of office, unlawful stoppage of their salaries, and running the council without due process.

After engaging the petitioners, the suspended chairman, and other stakeholders in Abuochiche, the committee concluded that the allegations were weighty and substantiated.

“The conduct of the chairman fell below the expectations of her office, and the evidence before us supports her removal,” Eta stated.

Following the adoption of the committee’s recommendations, the House resolved to remove Honourable Ushie for gross misconduct and directed that a bye-election be conducted to fill the vacancy.
