Verstappen wins to increase pressure on McLaren

Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were put under more pressure by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen winning the American Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc from Ferrari were the other two drivers in the top five spots, Norris and Piastri finishing second and fifth.

With only five races left, Briton Norris cut Piastri’s championship lead to 14 points, while Verstappen reduced his deficit to 40 points for the Australian.

Verstappen, who won the sprint on Saturday, had a dominant lead at the first corner, putting a stranglehold on the race, which he has now won seven times, totaling total control.

When questioned about his chances of winning the title, the four-time champion responded, “For sure, there is a chance.” All we need to do is try to deliver these weekends until the weekend. We’ll make every effort possible. I’m very excited right up until the very end of it because it’s exciting.

Norris was largely defeated by Leclerc’s use of a different tire strategy for the majority of the grand prix.

With five more laps to go, Norris finally passed the Ferrari to lead the points race against Piastri.

The main moments of an unfavorable grand prix were:

In the end, Norris wins Leclerc.

Verstappen and Norris were the only riders in the front row, hoping that McLaren’s consistently strong race performance would allow them to challenge the Red Bull driver, who had already triumphed in two of the previous three races and had already beaten McLaren in each of them.

However, Norris’ hopes of winning quickly vanished as Leclerc jumped into second place at the first corner using the extra grip of the soft tires, which he was the only driver in the top 10 to choose them for the start, with everyone else using mediums.

Through a collision between Williams’ Carlos Sainz and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, Norris tried valiantly to pass Leclerc, with Hamilton in close attendance as Verstappen built his lead.

At Turn 12, at the end of the long back straight, Norris repeatedly confronted Leclerc on the outside, but never successfully did so.

Verstappen continued to advance as he built his lead until just before lap 22 when he stopped for new tires, fitting the medium compound.

Verstappen stopped a few laps later, never losing the lead, and won the race, which was his third and fifth of the season, matching Norris’ total.

Norris waited another 10 laps before coming back behind Ferrari when he stopped to fit the soft tires.

Within four laps, Leclerc had already surpassed the Briton, who came second.

He was soon on the radio telling him that his tires were gone, but once more he was unable to pass.

Will Joseph, Norris’ race engineer, instructed him to slow down and restart after a few laps to cool his tires.

With five laps left, Norris completed the task. He briefly made it past Turn One before Leclerc cut back and reclaim the spot.

After a half-lap, Norris went for the position once more in Turn 12, dummying Leclerc and making the move stick.

Verstappen earns 23 points on Austin’s Piastri.

Norris never learned whether he could have defeated Verstappen during the conflict with Leclerc, but he had a much better afternoon than Piastri.

The Australian struggled to control Hamilton in front of him all weekend, despite fending off Mercedes’ George Russell for fifth overall.

Verstappen has scored 23 points in the championship leader’s first-place race at this grand prix with his victory in Saturday’s sprint following Piastri and Norris’ initial collision.

Yuki Tsunoda of Red Bull placed seventh, rising from 13th to 11th on the first lap before benefiting from the Sainz-Antonelli incident to win a strong grand prix.

Dianne Buswell hits back at Strictly pregnancy critics – ‘I’ve had enough’

Dianne Buswell, the star of the BBC series 2025, addressed the criticism she has received for keeping up her dance career while giving birth to her first child.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell has clapped back at online critics with a succinct statement, declaring she’s “had enough”. The red-haired professional dancer, who is currently lighting up the 2025 series of the hit BBC show alongside Aussie actor Stefan Dennis, is the first pregnant woman to dance on the show.

Dianne and her celeb partner Stefan were noticeably absent from last weekend’s episode due to Stefan falling ill, which unfortunately led to them missing out on the Movie Week special. However, they returned this week to dance a charleston on Saturday (18 October).

Some judges praised their performance as their best so far, and they were dancing to Tones And I’s Dance Monkey. Fans were in awe of Dianne’s agility, which included cartwheels and running down the Strictly staircase, as a result of their routine, which received a score of 26 out of a possible 40.

However, not all viewers were happy, so Dianne addressed some of the harsh criticism she received for dancing while expecting a child on Instagram. While pregnant, she shared a comment on Instagram that read, “I feel so uneasy watching Dianne cartwheel, run down the stairs in heels, and do tricks.

“Your centre of gravity is off while you’re pregnant, just takes one slip to fall on the precious bump. She is a true professional and fabulous dancer but I think it might have been wise to sit this season out. She is 36 so classed as advanced maternal age mother regardless of how fit she is, I think BBC made a mistake here,” reports the Express.

They continued by noting that Amy Dowden also took part in the BBC competition last year whilst facing health issues, adding: “It just doesn’t make sense. Like it didn’t make sense to give Amy a celebrity partner last year and look what happened there.” Fed up, Dianne shared her own thoughts as she reposted the comment, writing: “I have honestly had enough of comments like these.”

Thankfully, the majority of fans were incredibly supportive of the dancer and offered encouragement rather than criticism.

Literally, one fan argued, “I feel so bad she’s getting these comments as if she would ever do anything that would harm the baby!”

If she wasn’t a professional dancer doing all of this while she was pregnant, but her body is used to doing it, she said.

Another chimed in, “Amy didn’t have an ankle injury last year?” Anyone can experience that, and it has no bearing on having cancer! When and how to slow down and cut back, Diane will be aware of this and make her own decision.

a third person responded, “She’s pregnant, not sick. She must have good sense, I’m sure, to listen to her own body.

The 36 year old professional dancer confirmed earlier this year that she and YouTuber Joe Sugg are expecting their first child together. Since then, her fans have been quick to question whether she should continue performing some of the show’s more challenging lifts.

Chatting with comedian Chris McCausland on his Winning Isn’t Everything podcast, Dianne clarified exactly what her doctor had advised her following her pregnancy announcement. She revealed: “Because we did quite a lot of lifts that were quite high impact – well, look, I’m still doing everything that I did before. Obviously, with lifts, there’s just going to be a bit more caution.

However, my doctor assured me that everything is normal. He said that essentially, if you’ve already done it, such as if you’ve done lifts, this, that, you’ve done it, then you should keep doing it.

He said that because you’ve danced since you’ve been five, your body has been designed to do it. You shouldn’t stop doing what he said. You just need to be careful with lifting because it’s so obvious.

Amorim’s big moment – are Man Utd finally ready for lift off?

35 games and 11 months have been involved.

Ruben Amorim referred to his team as “perhaps the worst team in Manchester United history.”

In response to his public doubts about his own position, he received public reassurance from minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe in response to growing rumors that his administration would be overthrown by a subsequent string of subpar results.

Finally, Amorim’s team made a statement win at Anfield, home of Manchester United’s historically and statistically greatest rivals.

This was not a knockoff of Manchester City’s December smash-and-grab success. United held the lead for 83 minutes in this game.

In a match where they had chances to increase the lead that Bryan Mbeumo had given them in the opening moments, a match where they scrapped and fought for their lives as Liverpool dragged on.

A game in which they had the will to fight back after being beaten back by Cody Gakpo’s 78th-minute equalizer with a winner thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ excellent cross from Harry Maguire.

Amorim acknowledged that his team had “some luck” in a game.

With Wayne Rooney’s goal the only goal of the season, it was the first Premier League victory since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, which was the first of his kind since nine years.

Although it has been a long time, far longer than anyone had anticipated, Amorim has something to grow on.

The 40-year-old described the outcome as “the biggest win of my time at Manchester United.”

At the final whistle, it appeared almost as though Amorim had lost himself in the crowd after three straight defeats, as 3, 000 United fans had done when it seemed unlikely.

The Portuguese’s composure had come back when he made the remarks in the only other moment of euphoria under his leadership, the 4-0 win over Everton on December 1 that extended his unbeaten start to three games and declared a “storm was coming” to the wider media.

Has the storm already passed and Amorim was questioned at Anfield?

The thoughtful response read, “I have no idea.

We will win so many games if we live the spirit of today, both in training and in games.

Amorim is correct to be cautious, and Frank Ilett, a United fan, would probably be wise not to believe that the haircut he promised himself might only be in three weeks.

In the run-up to the Liverpool game, United haven’t managed a single point in two seasons, with Brighton at home, Nottingham Forest away, and Tottenham away.

Players both past and present realize that there have been far too many false dawn promises that have almost disappeared with no warning.

Former United skipper Roy Keane said, “The players will go back to the training ground in a better place, but they have to use this as a springboard to make sure they kick off.”

Was Maguire’s opinion of his first game at Anfield as a United player: “We have not given the fans enough days like that.”

Football is all about making special memories, and today we all leave feeling happy, but we can’t get carried away.

Above all else, Maguire epitomized the spirit Amorim praised for.

The centre-back would no longer play for United if he had given up when Ten Hag decided he could no longer play for his country in 2023. Instead, the 32-year-old rejected a position with West Ham.

Maguire resisted giving in even after Fernandes took charge. When Matthijs de Ligt was chosen for Amorim’s three-man defense’s central position at the start of the season, he faced a strong challenge to reclaim the starting spot.

Maguire is deeply committed to United and willing to accept a pay cut to extend his time there as a manager, with his contract just past the end of his senior season.

“This club has a lot of pressure,” Amorim added. Harry is very important to us, and it is not simple to play here.

He is a great example for every child, according to the statement “when you take into account everything he has gone through.”

Anyone who believes Amorim will remain at United for the three years Ratcliffe recently mentioned knows that he needs much more work.

The vultures would turn around once more at Old Trafford following their fourth successive home defeat defeat by Brighton, which will take place on Saturday at Old Trafford.

He is aware that many people who report and discuss the club have publicly or privately predicted that Amorim would lose his position sooner rather than later.

He should typically welcome such a conversation and use it as motivation while also taking comfort in knowing that he has given supporters, who have paid so much to see so little in recent months, including embarrassment at League Two Grimsby in the EFL Cup in August, to sing in his honor and remember a day.

“This is not typical to find anything like this.” There are so many negative things going on, and it’s great that the fans continue to cheer the manager even when you say “Until Christmas,” he’s gone.

I want the media to carry on your story. Don’t alter that. That suits me the best.

“Manchester hasn’t given me many wins.” Our supporters struggled against Brentford and Grimsby. They saw a different team today.
