After the passing of a club cricket player who toppled 137 balls without allowing a run, tributes have been paid.

Bestwick, Ian, who played for Darley Abbey Cricket Club in Derbyshire, gained global attention for his resolute knock in which he finished not out in August 2024.

According to the club, Mr. Bestwick, who was also known as “Beast,” passed away at the age of 49 on August 25.

Ian Jepson made his club debut in 2008, according to a Facebook post from the organization that read: “Over the course of the next 17 years Ian has developed a highly valued and very supportive club membership.

He understood the values, friendship, camaraderie, and cohesion amateur clubs and organizations like ours can impart to the local community and that he was particularly interested in the game traditions.

Mr. Jepson continued, “On numerous occasions, he turned down the chance to play in his place,” adding that he would volunteer to score or umpire.

Regardless of his own ideals, Ian was a lively presence; he loved real ale; and he was always willing to contribute to a discussion and to hear from an alternative viewpoint.

Mr. Jepson claimed that the club was giving his wife and kids everything.

“Refused to score,”

The batter received unexpected attention from far and wide from the club’s 4th XI after his remarkable scoreless inning-scoring performance.

He claimed that the match’s response had “gone crackers” at the time and that it had been broadcast on the BBC.

He said, “It’s gone round the world.” Australia, Pakistan, and Qatar have all mentioned it.

“I’ve received friend requests from all over the world.”

After the opposition’s Mickleover 3rd XI posted a total of 271 in his steely stand, Mr. Bestwick took his strong stand.

After 45 overs, Darley Abbey came in with a score of just 21-4, which meant the game ended in a draw.

We had spent three hours chasing leather around the field, Mr. Bestwick said.

They left and were dejected, but at the conclusion, it appeared like we had won a cup or something.

“Our dressing room had a fantastic atmosphere. It was fantastic.

He continued, “Toward the end, it became something where I was determined not to score.”

Unite’s senior trade union representative at Rolls-Royce was Mr. Bestwick.

Ian was a hugely influential character in both the company and the colleagues he represented, according to a post from the Rolls-Royce and Associates staff forum.

He offered suggestions for constructive and thoughtful ways to improve the business and showed great concern for it.

Boxing Icons Tyson, Mayweather To Meet In Ring In 2026

Promoter CSI Sports reported on Thursday that Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have reached a deal for a potential 2026 exhibition fight.

Although there was no release date or location for the fight, CSI reported that Mayweather and heavyweight champion Mayweather would meet in “Spring 2026.”

Tyson, 59, established himself as the most feared heavyweight of his generation by creating a 50-7 record with 44 knockouts.

In Arlington, Texas, he last appeared in the ring in November when YouTuber-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul thumped him.

Tyson hardly ever managed to punch in that eight-round fight, which was still watched by a live audience of about 70 000 spectators and an estimated one million more tuning in from all over the world.

Mayweather, 48, a former world champion who won world titles in five weight classes when he retired from boxing in 2017, unbeaten in 50 of his fights.

However, he has continued to show up in shows, most recently in August of 2024 when he defeated John Gotti III in Mexico.

In a statement made by CSI, Tyson said, “No way this happens,” when asked about entering the ring with Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd, however, said “yes.” None of us ever imagined or could witness this conflict. This fight is as unpredictable as it gets, despite the fact that boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable.

90s boyband Boyzone reuniting for massive comeback tour three decades after debut

Six years after Boyzone’s previous tour and more than three decades after their debut in the music industry, a hugely popular 90s boyband has revealed they are making a huge comeback.

Boyzone has made it clear that they are making a significant comeback.

Boyzone are making a comeback, six years after their last tour. Ronan Keating has revealed that he, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch are all reuniting for a special set of shows.

Following the success of their documentary series called Boyzone: No Matter What, the band and the late Stephen Gately have been talking about a reunion and it appears that a reunion is on the cards.

Speaking on the Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Ronan shared: “The reaction was unbelievable, so we’ve obviously been talking about our story for the last 30 years, and we felt like that was kind of it, that maybe that was the end of the story. And well, we’ve all been chatting over the last few weeks, and I think 2026 might be a year for Boyzone to maybe try and do something.”

A post with the headline “the journey continues” and a link to the ticket-selling website See Tickets was posted on Boyzone’s official social media account at the time, which provided information about upcoming shows.

“They’re really great… After the documentary, the reaction was unbelievable, honestly, even people who weren’t fans of Boyzone contacted me and said, “I had no idea,” he said.

“British Airways had it on the plane (to England) in the documentary section, and somebody was watching it next to me, and it was really awkward, I had to put a blanket over my head.”

Shane was previously asked earlier this year whether he thought the group would ever reunite to make new music. He said on ITV show Lorraine: “I say this with the greatest respect, we will always be a band called Boyzone but we will never be a band again. I don’t think we will ever make music again.

We’ve already done a tour, but I believe we would all be more than willing to do it because that would be a fun night out for everyone else, including ourselves, and it would be beautiful regardless of whether it occurs.

Although they hadn’t spoken in a while, the documentary gave them the idea to reconnect.

When I saw the first draft of the documentary, I couldn’t help myself and called Mikey because I hadn’t spoken to him in a while.

He made the documentary for me, and I thought he was amazing in it. I was delighted that he would tell his story, and that his honesty was incredible and something he had to do to participate in the documentary. We had a lot of uncertainty about what would happen, so it was fantastic and amazing when everything was finished. He deserves my very best wishes.

Geyoro joins London City for world record £1.4m

Images courtesy of Getty

Grace Geyoro, a France international, was signed for £1.4 million from Paris St-Germain, making her the most expensive female football player in history.

The Women’s Super League newcomers’ $1.1 million signing of Mexico winger Lizbeth Ovalle was less than the $1.5 million the Orlando Pride paid for the player last month.

Olivia Smith became the first £1 million signing since joining Arsenal from Liverpool in July, breaking the women’s world record for the third time this summer.

Geyoro, 28, is Michele Kang’s wealthy American owner’s 16th permanent addition to London City.

Geyoro, who has scored 22 goals for her country and has participated in two World Cups, two European Championships, and the 2024 Olympics, has been captained by France 103 times.

Several well-known players have been signed by London City since obtaining promotion, including 74-cap England forward Nikita Parris, former Manchester United captain Katie Zelem, and Danielle van de Donk from Lyon.

At the age of 15, Geyoro signed for PSG and started playing for the team in almost 270 games. She won three French Cups, won three, and finished twice in the Champions League.

One of the best players on earth, according to legend.

Jocelyn Precheur, the manager of London City, spent two years with PSG before joining Geyoro.

The 43-year-old described Geyoro as “one of the best players on the planet,” saying at a press conference following the announcement of the deal on Friday.

She has a wonderful career, but Precheur criticized her.

“I was immediately aware that having such a talented player would be a great opportunity for the club.”

We have a lot of young, hardworking players. The balance of the squad is crucial to the signing of a player like her.

She is knowledgeable about my playing style. She will greatly benefit the team and our preferred style of play because she is so knowledgeable about the game.

Statement signings “strike eyebrows”

London City are the first women’s football team to join the WSL without any affiliation with a men’s club, indicating a potential new direction for the sport.

The club operates in female sports markets and attracts independent sponsorships with Kang as president.

The Lionesses have been able to create a new structure with a board full of women’s football expertise and facilities designed specifically for women.

Kang benefited from investing in player salaries and transfer fees as a means of negotiating.

Moving to Geyoro is a remarkable statement of intent, as they broke the second-tier transfer record last year when they signed youngster Izzy Goodwin from Sheffield United for a six-figure fee.

She is a top-notch midfielder who elevates the team and makes other teams notice how committed they are to the market.

PSG, one of the other clubs owned by Kang, is weakened by the addition of its weakening factor, which is a significant rival to Lyon.

Expectations and pressure are likely to rise for London City manager Jocelyn Precheur, who collaborated with Geyoro at PSG.

Since joining the club in 2024, he has dealt with a high player turnover, and he is aware of the club’s unmistakable ambitions to win the Champions League.
