After Real Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign, Milan AC manager Massimiliano Allegri announces Luka Modric’s arrival in Italy.
After the US championship match, the Croatian captain, 39, announced in May that he would leave his 13-year spell with the Spanish giants.
Allegri, who replaced Sergio Conceicao as Milan manager for a second time, confirmed the news of his new club.
In his first press conference, the 57-year-old stated that Modric would arrive in August. He is a remarkable player.
Real won the Club World Cup with a 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund, which set up Wednesday’s semifinal against Paris St-Germain, and Modric has made five substitute appearances there.
Since moving from Tottenham in 2012, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has won 28 titles, including six Champions League titles and four La Liga titles.
Tijjani Reijnders, Milan sold to Manchester City last month, and left-back Theo Hernandez has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
However, Allegri, who won the first four years as coach of the Rossoneri to capture the Serie A title in 2011, is optimistic that his squad will include forward Rafael Leao and goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Maignan, a France keeper, was a target of Chelsea’s interest earlier this summer, but they did not reach the £25 million valuation.
Former 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis has been arrested for involuntary manslaughter after allegedly supplying a drug mixture that caused the overdose death of chef John Mark Harris

Whitney Purvis, known for appearing on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, has been reportedly been arrested in Georgia for felony involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal drug overdose.
According to records obtained by TMZ, the 33-year-old was taken into custody in Floyd County on Monday. Authorities allege that Purvis supplied a substance known as Tranq – a dangerous combination of xylazine and fentanyl – which reportedly led to the death of 37-year-old John Mark Harris.
According to the publication, the arrest warrant accuses her of “intentionally distributing” the drug. Police responded to a call at Harris’s residence in Rome on February 17, 2025, where they discovered him unresponsive.
At the time, FOX 5 Atlanta reported that officers noted signs of possible drug use at the scene. Harris was pronounced dead shortly after.

Harris had worked as a chef at Barnsley Gardens and was described in his obituary as a kind and generous man who “never met a stranger” and he was remembered for his “willingness to help others.”
The obituary read: “Whether it was bandaging a wound, trips to the airport, or a place to lay their heads for a time, he was willing to lend a hand. He loved fiercely and would do anything he could for one of his friends.”
Under the online tribute, Purvis shared a personal message reflecting on their relationship and her unbearable grief. “John mark, I hate that I found out what happened today and missed your funeral. I wish I could’ve found out sooner and attended your celebration of life,” she wrote.
“You’ve came to my rescue on many occasions and saved me over the years. We bonded over being chefs, our love of cooking and our struggles. I could tell you anything and you always knew what to say or give me your honest opinion and advice.”

She continued: “I don’t want it to be true. I’ll miss waking up to your silly messages and pictures you’d send me. I’ll miss your amazing cooking. I’ll miss snuggling on the couch watching TV with you.”
Purvis closed the message with a final tribute: “Most of all, I’ll miss you, a truly good hearted & one of a kind man, John Mark. I’ll never forget you. Rest in peace and my condolences to your family and friends. I pray they are able to find some kind of comfort during this tragic time. I love you forever, John Mark. Love, Whitney.”
However, this is reportedly not Purvis’s first legal trouble as she has prior arrests, including one for shoplifting and another for contempt of court over child support issues, according to reports.
Whitney’s 16-year-old son tragically died last month
Her arrest comes just a month after a separate tragedy following the death of her 16-year-old son, Weston Jr.
In a Facebook post, she shared: “This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand.”
According to his stepmother, Weston had ongoing health problems, including diabetes, and was found unresponsive in the morning at his home.
The Mirror has approached Purvis’ representatives for comment on this story.
Carlos Alcaraz does not have a losing streak against a British player this week as he prepares to face Cameron Norrie in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
The Spanish superstar may have been unbeatable on the tennis court, having won the Queen’s title before moving on with confidence into the SW19 final eight, but Sir Andy Murray has quickly revealed Alcaraz is not as dominant on the course.
The recently retired Scot edged a best-of-three matchup while the pair have been playing together for the past ten days.
“He actually beat me,” he said. But golf is a mental-clearing sport, Alcaraz said.
On my days off, I’m attempting to play the best golf possible.
With a handicap of 13, Norrie, a respectable golfer himself, wants to face Alcaraz, who is two-time defending Wimbledon champion, on Tuesday.
British number three Norrie, who reached the semi-finals in 2022, told BBC Sport, “I’m going to have to play my best to have a chance with him.”

Norrie replicates Carlitos’ travels to Ibiza.
One of the most challenging tasks in the sport right now is to defeat Alcaraz, age 22, at the moment.
The five-time major champion has won 22 straight games before making his way to Ibiza for a no longer-traditional pre-Wimbledon break, winning the Rome and French Open titles on clay.
Norrie, 29, made the decision to try out the same strategy by lounging on the beach, playing golf, and dining at Pacha nightclub.
According to him, “I was telling my team, let’s see if the Carlos method works because he won Wimby in Ibiza.”
“Tennis is very important, but I believe it’s important to enjoy it off the court in your own way.”
You feel prepared to compete once more after a few days on the beach or a few days in the sun.
Alcaraz is a top example of this in grass-court matches where he has won his last 16 matches.
Like he did before each of his Wimbledon victories, taking the time to recharge on the Balearic party island is once more profitable.
However, Norrie, who is ranked 61st in the world, intends to put an end to Alcaraz’s chances of becoming the only player to win three SW19 titles in a row in the Open era.
This will be their first grass-based encounter, despite the left-hander having defeated Alcaraz in two of their previous three matches, both in Cincinnati and Rio de Janeiro.
Alcaraz, who has already defeated one home player at Wimbledon in qualifier Ollie Tarvet, said, “I’ve played against him really tough and great battles.
He seems to be playing excellent tennis. On grass, he feels very at ease.
Norrie “does not care” that she is the last Brit standing.
Only the fourth British player to reach multiple Wimbledon quarter-finals since edging past a top-ranked Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry in the fourth round.
Norrie moved to Auckland as a child and then continued her education at Texas Christian University in the United States. She settled in London after moving there as a child.
Despite having a Kiwi accent, he was always destined to represent the country because of his Welsh mother and Scottish father.
His parents, microbiologists David and Helen, have been a driving force in his life, and they are proud to share more of his best moments at the All England Club.
They were one of the 12, 500 fans who cheered Norrie to a hearty victory over Jarry along with his long-term partner Louise.
Norrie won the third set without converting a match point, making him the final British player in the standings.
Norrie, who will be playing his first game on Centre Court this year when he takes on Alcaraz, said, “I would have liked to see some more guys go deeper.”
“But I don’t care if I’m the last Brit standing or if everyone else is here,” he said.
I’m just running my business and really enjoying my tennis right now.
Over the past few seasons, Norrie has had to deal with a forearm injury, which saw his ranking fall to the bottom of the top 100.
However, over the past few months, he has rediscovered his form. He advanced to the fourth round of the French Open before making yet another significant Grand Slam run.
He said, “It’s nice to be back and nice to enjoy the tennis and the moments.”
Mirra Andreeva said she had “completely forgotten the score” after not realising she had beaten Emma Navarro to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the first time.
Andreeva had three match points on the Navarro serve and converted the first, with a netted shot from Navarro confirming a 6-2 6-3 win for the Russian.
American Navarro approached the net to congratulate her opponent and the Centre Court crowd stood to applaud – but Andreeva was at the back of court, preparing to face serve, before it clicked that she had won.
“I kept telling myself that I am facing break point and that I’m down in the score to help me stay focused”, Andreeva said afterwards.
“But in the end I completely forgot the score.
” I am glad that I did it because I would have been three times more nervous on a match point. “
Sharapova memorably went on to win the title and still holds the record for the youngest women’s singles champion at SW19.
Andreeva has been tipped as a future Grand Slam champion, having won two WTA 1000 titles – the tier of tournaments below the majors – and climbing to a career-high ranking of sixth in the world this year.
She has yet to drop a set at Wimbledon and was dominant against Navarro, holding strong in the rallies and dictating from the baseline.
Andreeva’s coach, Conchita Martinez, won Wimbledon as a player in 1994 and was in Garbine Muguruza’s corner when she triumphed in 2017.
However, they will reverse their respective roles this week when Andreeva coaches Martinez in the legends doubles event at SW19.
” I’m going to get my revenge finally, “Andreeva joked.
” I’m already thinking about a poster I will make. I think that’s my time to get back at her. “

Swiatek maintains charge for maiden Wimbledon title
Former world number one Iga Swiatek progressed to her fourth consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final with a 6-4 6-1 victory against Denmark’s Clara Tauson, who appeared to be struggling with sickness.
Eighth seed Swiatek has been impressive on grass this year and that continued with this dominant win that sets up a match with world number 19 Liudmila Samsonova for a place in the semi-finals.
” I just tried to be ready for anything, “said Swiatek.
” This year I feel I can just play my game and hopefully it will last as long as possible. “
Both players traded breaks of serve early in the first set before Swiatek got the crucial advantage at 5-4, a double fault by Tauson sealing it for her opponent.
Tauson then took a medical timeout, appearing to indicate an issue with her throat, but was soon able to continue.
But while there had not been much between the pair in the first set, that changed in the second as Swiatek lost just one game on her way to an ultimately comfortable victory.
Samsonova, who progressed after beating Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 7-5 6-4, has been in strong form at Wimbledon so far, having lost just 13 games in her previous three matches.
Emotional Bencic into first Wimbledon quarter-final
An emotional Bencic was in tears after reaching a maiden Wimbledon quarter-final after beating Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 earlier on Monday.
Bencic had been thrashed 6-1 6-2 by her Russian opponent just two weeks ago at the Bad Homburg Open, but she held her nerve in the high-pressure moments in their fourth-round meeting at SW19.
When victory was confirmed after 18th seed Alexandrova sent a forehand long, Bencic held her hands in the air before wiping back tears.
” I always got stuck in the fourth round so it was important for me to break through to the quarter-final, “said the former world number four.
” It was crazy stress out there but I was so happy to break her in the end. The atmosphere was unbelievable.
“I tried to be more brave. I had a few weeks of good practice and matches under my belt”.
Bencic has been in good form since becoming a mother last year, winning the Abu Dhabi Open in February, just 10 months after giving birth.
“It has been really amazing”, she said of travelling to tournaments with her child. “I am really proud of myself and the whole team. I am really enjoying it.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its air strikes has a major blow to insurgent network in Nigeria’s North-East, neutralising key terrorists nestled in the Mandara Mountains, located in Borno State.
In a statement on Monday, NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the air force launched precision air strikes on July 6, 2025 against key terrorist strongholds.
According to him, the high-profile targets, Wa Jahode and Loghpere, have long served as fortified enclaves for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.

“The locations, known for their rugged, mountain-covered terrain along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, had recently witnessed increased terrorist activity, including reports of a logistics build-up and the presence of senior JAS Commanders.
” The strikes followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions revealing clusters of structures fitted with solar panels, black flags, and fortified compounds, clear signs of insurgent resurgence and preparations for coordinated attacks.
“In response, NAF strike aircraft executed a series of well-coordinated air interdictions, targeting and destroying high-value terrorist infrastructure including logistics warehouses, command centres, and defensive shelters.
” Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation, effectively disrupting their supply chain and diminishing their capability to sustain further offensives, “the statement read in part.
