Ant McPartlin, Maya Jama, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are among the celebrities arriving at Wimbledon today. The women’s final is due to take place at 4 p.m. this afternoon, and some well-known faces have turned up to watch the event on centre court.

Amanda Anisimova and Iga Świątek are going to go head-to-head to see who can lift the Wimbledon 2025 trophy. Ant McPartlin was seen at the event, arriving with his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, ready to enjoy the day.

They both dressed up for the occasion as Any went for a striped linen shirt along with white trousers. He made sure he had his sunglasses on ready for the UK heatwave.

Meanwhile, Anne-Marie looked as stunning as ever as she wore a white and blue patterned dress. She accessorised her look with sunglasses and a brown bag.

Little Mix star Leigh-Anne certainly looked the part as she posed with a tennis racquet and wore a maxi dress with matching heels. TV presenter Maya Jama took a break from the Love Island drama to watch the drama on the court instead.

She looked gorgeous in purple as she wore a dress with matching heels. She added black sunglasses and a bag along with styling her black locks in loose waves.

Plenty of other celebrities have been spotted arriving for the day, including Ian Wright alongside Emma Hayes. Opera singer Katherine Jenkins looked a vision in bright purple as she also soaked up the sun.

Actor Stanley Tucci was spotted shaking hands with Olympic legend Mo Farah before they sat down to watch the action. Cara Delevingne walked along the venue in black trousers, which she paired with a black and white striped top.

Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild walked side by side as they got ready for the tennis as well. Wimbledon has shaken things up this year by altering the longstanding start times for its finals.

Traditionally, the women’s and men’s finals have started at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The usual schedule would see the women’s final followed by the men’s doubles final on Saturday, with the men’s final on Sunday followed by the women’s doubles final.

However, in a change for 2025, this order will be reversed at Wimbledon, with the winners also set for a hefty pay packet. US broadcasters have been keen for the change in order to cater to North American viewers.

This means the upcoming schedule for Saturday, July 12, saw the men’s doubles final commence at 1pm on Centre Court, with the women’s singles final scheduled for 4pm.

On Sunday, July 13, the women’s doubles final starts at 1pm, leading up to the men’s singles final at 4pm. This adjustment means that tennis fans in New York and across the eastern US can tune into the main event finals at 11am EST, reports MyLondon.

Injured Onana will not play on Man Utd’s US tour

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana will not play on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

The Cameroon international, 29, has responded well to initial treatment and will still travel to America for the three-game Premier League Summer Series later in July, but his time will be spent on recovery.

It means Altay Bayindir, 27, is likely to be Ruben Amorim’s first-choice goalkeeper in pre-season.

There had been major doubts over the Turkey international’s Old Trafford future after he lost out to Onana for selection in the Europa League final in May, despite the former Inter Milan keeper’s own dip in form.

It remains to be seen whether Onana’s injury forces United into the market for another goalkeeper, while there was speculation at the end of last season they may look for alternatives.

However, Amorim said he trusted Onana, who returned for pre-season training in the belief he would remain first-choice despite making a number of high-profile mistakes since joining from Inter in a £47.2m deal in 2023.

Former England international Tom Heaton, 39, signed a new one-year extension this week.

United’s other goalkeeping options are 21-year-old Czech Republic youth international Radek Vitek, who impressed on loan at Austria side FC Blau-Weiss Linz last season, as well as Poland youth international Hubert Graczyk, 19-year-old Elyh Harrison and 22-year-old Dermot Mee. They were all named on the bench by Amorim towards the end of the campaign, but have no senior experience.

United open their pre-season campaign against rivals Leeds in Stockholm on 19 July.

They play West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the United States from 27 July to 3 August, before completing their preparations against Fiorentina on 9 August at Old Trafford.

Jeff Lynne forced to pull out of BST Hyde Park after contracting illness

Jeff Lynne has been forced to cancel his planned BFT Hyde Park concert this weekend after falling ill. The team working with the 77-year-old music star had previously revealed he was suffering from ill health.

A statement issued on Saturday confirmed the news, announcing: “Jeff Lynne is heartbroken to report that he will not be able to perform at tomorrow’s BST Hyde Park show.

“Jeff has been battling a systemic infection and is currently in the care of a team of doctors who have advised him that performing is simply not possible at this time nor will he be able to reschedule.

“The legacy of the band and his longtime fans are foremost in Jeff’s mind today — and while he is so sorry that he cannot perform, he knows that he must focus on his health and rehabilitation at this time.”

A spokesman had previously vowed that the concert would be going ahead as planned for this Sunday. They claimed there were “no concerns”. The sold-out headline slot at the London music festival on Sunday had been described by the organisers as their final “goodbye”.

The news comes after the band cancelled their Thursday night performance at Manchester’s Co-Op Live due to “illness”. A fan who was at the ELO gig a day before the cancelled explained to the Mirror: “At the start of the set he came on and couldn’t play the guitar because he has injured his hand.

“He sounded shaky to begin with but his singing and energy picked up and was great until the last 10 minutes of the show.

“A chair was brought onto the stage and he had to sit down to sing the last few songs, he appeared to be unsteady on his feet at the end and was helped off the stage by staff. He really wasn’t well, it was obvious to fans at the gig he wasn’t himself and it is sad to see.”

Jeff had previously battled with a broken hand whilst performing with the group on his farewell concert.

The band was founded in the 1970s in Birmingham by Jeff and keyboardist Roy Wood. He later left the band and was replaced by Richard Tandy, who performed until he died last year aged 76. The group split in 1986 and is known for fusing classical music, Beatles-style pop and futuristic rock visuals.

They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. The group is best known for hits such as Livin’ Thing, Mr Blue Sky, Telephone Line and Evil Woman.

Craig Cash recalls intimate Oasis gig where Liam and Noel performed to three people

One of the crowd was future Royle Family star Craig Cash, who said Liam Gallagher had ‘that same swagger when nobody was watching him’

A whopping 80,000 fans are predicted to flock to each of Oasis’s homecoming gigs in Manchester. Noel and Liam Gallagher returned as Oasis to Heaton Park, Manchester last night – 16 long years since they last performed in their hometown. The Britpop band kicked off the first of their Heaton Park comeback shows.

Heaton Park fans saw the impossible happen last night, in the first of five nights of the Gallagher brothers’ homecoming gig, as the former rivals walked out to the packed, sweltering crowd hand in hand.

While thousands of fans missed out on tickets those at home poured over live streams of the historic night on social media. Some even accused the crowd of being ‘too tame’, while others blamed the apparent lack of chaos in the park on the scorching heat.

However, writer, actor and comedian Craig Cash recalls a time when an Oasis gig could only muster two or three spectators – one of whom was Liam and Noel Gallagher’s brother, Paul.

Cash, who starred in The Royle Family, was another attendee at the Boardwalk gig where Oasis were supporting Northwich band The Cherrys. Speaking to the BBC, he reminisced that despite the sparse crowd, Oasis “blew him away” and their star potential was evident.

Cash shared: “You knew from early on they definitely had something about them, so it was absolutely no surprise when they were huge.”

Liam was singing like a rock and roll star, Cash remembers to the BBC. “He had that same swagger when nobody was watching him.” The show also gave Cash a glimpse into Liam’s fiery nature. He recalled how Oasis were “going on a bit too long” before The Cherrys took to the stage as the main act.

“They were great… but the Cherrys actually pulled the plug and switched [them] off.” And then it all kicked off. “Liam was offering them out from the stage and all sorts of chaos ensued.

“But they plugged them back in and [they] finished the set.” Now aged 64, Cash fondly remembers hitting it off with Noel after the singer-songwriter’s first ever radio interview.

When their recording session was interrupted, they headed to The Pineapple Inn, near KFM Radio’s studio, and “bonded” over pints and their mutual love for Manchester City. “We ended up having a skinful and going back to finish the recording half cut,” he said. “The laughs we had… they were heady days and fun times.”

Cash’s fondness for Oasis led to the B-side Half The World Away being chosen as the theme song for the BBC sitcom The Royle Family, where Cash portrayed Dave, the dim-witted, devoted boyfriend of the late Caroline Aherne’s Denise.

Cash expressed: “I just love that song. It really fit the mood. You’re kind of stuck here but you love it all the same.” Noel says now it feels like it’s not even their song now, its ours,” he added.

Has run to Club World Cup final been worth it for Chelsea?

Whatever happens in Sunday’s final, Chelsea will be walking away from the Club World Cup with more than 10% of the total $1bn (£740.5m) prize pot set aside by Fifa.

Given their already lavish summer spending, it is money not to be sniffed at.

But the competition, which will reach its conclusion when the Blues face Paris St-Germain in New Jersey, has been about more than just the vast riches on offer for Enzo Maresca’s side.

It represents an opportunity to add a second trophy in as many months after their Conference League triumph in June, further dampening criticism of the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital project built around signing young players on long contracts.

It’s also a chance to say they are world champions – at least until the next tournament is held in 2029.

Chelsea have put significant work in getting this far, with potential injuries to contend with and a shorter pre-season before the Premier League season begins on 16 August.

What’s it been like off the pitch?

Chelsea’s non-international players had a 10-day break after winning the Conference League final, but others came into the competition after representing their national sides just a week earlier.

They had a four-day stint training at Cobham before flying into Atlanta for a match against Los Angeles FC, before basing themselves in Philadelphia for the majority of the group stage.

They moved on to Miami, before settling in New York for the semi-final and final – the travelling has been vast.

But there was one constant in the United States – it was hot everywhere and impacted Chelsea’s ability to train. And, while the club has coped admirably and found ways to win, keeping players happy has been another challenge.

A large amount of freedom has been afforded to the players by manager Maresca to enjoy their downtime in the various US cities, while also expecting a high degree of professionalism.

Players have been able to meet friends and family, especially from the knockout stages onwards, and it has kept many happier than might have been the case.

Building relationships on the pitch

With pre-season now set to be cut significantly, Maresca has used the competition to experiment with a new system.

Against Flamengo he switched to a formation utilising more traditional full-backs and with Cole Palmer playing as an inverted winger, just as he did under previous boss Mauricio Pochettino.

That ended in a disappointing 3-1 defeat and attracted criticism, although they did bounce back with a 4-1 extra-time last-16 success over Benfica using a similar system.

Maresca has also used more of his squad than any other club at the tournament in 27, with every outfield player taken to the US getting some time on the pitch.

New signings Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr have made their debuts – along with Andrey Santos and Aaron Anselmino, who were already at the club – and some of them have spoken about how the nature of the long overseas trip has helped them assimilate with their new team-mates.

Delap said “100%” when asked about this, adding: “Settling into any new place, it is always helpful spending 24/7 with everyone.

“It has really helped me get to know everyone.”

Forwards Delap and Joao Pedro have both hit the ground running too after their arrivals from Ipswich Town and Brighton.

But the transfer window has been a double-edged sword with Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Trevoh Chalobah among the players being linked with moves.

‘No pressure’ over financial incentives

Much has been made about the vast riches at the extended Club World Cup – and Chelsea are closing in on the jackpot.

Their semi-final win over Brazilian side Fluminense took their total to about £80m, although Fifa have not confirmed their exact participation fee.

On top of the £21.9m for reaching the final, the Blues will claim another £7.3m if they lift the trophy.

Joao Pedro, a £60m signing from Brighton, repaid about a third of his transfer fee with his two debut goals against Fluminense.

But Chelsea’s total prize money at the tournament will be more than enough to pay for his transfer, with a bit more left over going towards the £30m signing of Delap.

It will also help fund the £29m for Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian – who joins them after the Club World Cup – while £48.5m Jamie Gittens was another expensive arrival.

But before their final group game against ES Tunis, Maresca said: “The owners just want the best for us and for the players game by game, and they are not talking about the final prize or the final reward in terms of money.

Physical toll but Blues benefit

Maresca says his players will receive three weeks of holiday after the Club World Cup finishes – and confirmed there will be no trophy parade even if they beat PSG.

Many will jet off to the Caribbean or the west coast of the US on holiday directly from New York after Sunday’s showpiece.

But there will remain questions about the physical cost of this competition, which has led Chelsea to playing 64 matches in a 53-week season.

Essugo, Benoit Badiashile, Romeo Lavia and Moises Caciedo were among those to pick up injuries in the US.

Chelsea, however, had the luxury of being able to heavily rotate their squad in competitions last season.

What are their pre-season plans?

Chelsea players are expected to have at least one week less holiday than fellow Club World Cup participants Manchester City.

They will face Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan at Stamford Bridge in a mini-tournament on 8 and 10 August.

Freddie Mercury’s brutal Princess Diana snub at Live Aid that raised eyebrows

When the iconic rock band Queen performed at Live Aid in 1985, Freddie Mercury refused to sit with Charles and Diana in the royal box at Wembley Stadium for one reason

Freddie Mercury opted not to sit with Prince Charles and Princess Diana in the royal box at Live Aid in 1985 because he had “better things to do”

Princess Diana charmed millions of people across the world, including celebrities – but Freddie Mercury seemingly had no interest in schmoozing with royalty.

In 1985, thousands of people gathered at Wembley Stadium for Live Aid: a charity concert to raise money for those struggling with the famine in Ethiopia.

The concert, which was broadcast to more than one billion people around the world, was also attended by royal couple Princess Diana and the then Prince Charles, who watched on from the royal box.

One of the day’s most anticipated performances came from iconic rock band Queen, who have since gone on to perform for royalty many times. Band members Brian May and Roger Taylor went on to headline the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee concert in 2022, and both received OBEs throughout their career.

However, during Live Aid, the late Freddie Mercury had no such desire to mix with the royals, opting not to join Taylor and May in the royal box to watch the performance in the company of Charles and Diana.

In an interview with The Express, Freddie’s close friend and long-term assistant, Peter Freestone, revealed that Freddie simply had ‘better’ things to do backstage at Live Aid than mingle with the royals.

He said: “Even at Live Aid, you see Brian May and Roger Taylor in the royal box. Freddie didn’t go. He was more interested in being with friends backstage, talking with Elton John, hanging out with his people. His friends were always the most important to him.”

Despite choosing not to spend his time with Charles and Diana, there has long been a rumour that Freddie Mercury did have a level of friendship with Diana, with the pair allegedly having a wild night together at a gay bar in South London.

According to urban legend, Freddie and Diana struck up a friendship and bonded over their love of the sitcom The Golden Girls, along with celebrities like Rupert Everett and Kenny Everett.

Kenny’s friend Cleo Rocos said: “The group spent the afternoon drinking champagne in front of reruns of The Golden Girls with the sound turned down and improvising show dialogue with a much naughtier storyline.”

The evening quickly got wilder, with Diana allegedly wanting to tag along with the rest of the group as they planned to party the night away at a famous South London gay bar, the appropriately named Royal Vauxhall Tavern.

According to Rocos, they disguised the princess as a man in a baseball cap, sunglasses and army bomber jacket, as she said: “When we walked in … we felt she was obviously Princess Diana and would be discovered at any minute. But people just seemed to blank her. She sort of disappeared. But she loved it.”

Despite the years of rumours over the wild night, Peter Freestone debunked the claims as he told Express: “No, not at all. Maybe Diana went with Kenny but Freddie wasn’t there. He never met her.”
