Kebbi ADC Condemns Zogirma Killings, Accuses Kebbi Govt Of Neglect

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kebbi State Chapter, has condemned the recent killing of police officers and civilians by armed assailants in Zogirma village, Bunza Local Government Area, describing the attack as gruesome and unacceptable.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary in Kebbi, Abubakar Atiku, the ADC, expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Zogirma community.

The party lamented that the attack occurred at a time when residents of the area are living in fear and desperately seeking government protection. It accused the Kebbi State Government of insensitivity, alleging that while communities cry out for help, political leaders are preoccupied with parties and political meetings aimed at retaining power in 2027.

“The ADC strongly condemns this culture of neglect, indifference, and insensitivity towards the lives and welfare of ordinary citizens,” the statement said. “This tragic event further proves that many in leadership have forgotten their core responsibility to protect lives and improve the well-being of the people.”

The party called on the state government to act swiftly to restore law and order in Zogirma and other affected communities. It also demanded compensation for the families of the victims and the implementation of serious security measures to prevent further attacks.

“The lives of our citizens must come first, above all political interests,” the ADC added.

In the meantime, the people of Junju/Fada community in Birnin Kebbi, birthplace of the coalition-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader and former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, have distanced themselves from him and pledged their full support to Governor Nasir Idris.

The position of the community was made known during a solidarity visit to Governor Idris at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

Israeli forces kill Palestinian children near water distribution point

Israeli air raids across the Gaza Strip have killed more than 30 Palestinians, at least 10 of them near a water distribution point, including six children, according to Palestinian Civil Defence.

Mahmoud Basal, civil defence spokesman, told the AFP news agency there were multiple Israeli strikes on Gaza City overnight and early morning on Sunday, resulting in eight deaths, “including women and children”, with additional injuries reported.

An Israeli attack on a home near the Nuseirat refugee camp in the south of Gaza City caused “10 martyrs and several injured”, he said.

An Israeli drone attack in central Gaza “hit a potable water distribution point in an area for displaced people”, killing eight Palestinians, including six children, with several others wounded.

Additionally, three people died when Israeli jets struck a tent housing displaced Palestinians in the southern coastal area of al-Mawasi, according to Basal.

On Saturday, Israeli forces killed at least 110 Palestinians across Gaza, including 34 people waiting for food at the controversial GHF distribution site in Rafah.

Supernanny Jo Frost has ‘life-threatening’ medical condition

The TV star said her body could be ‘compromised horrifically’

Jo Frost has spoken out about a serious medical condition she faces, which causes her to navigate life with particular caution. While the TV Supernanny stressed that she won’t apologise for her diagnosis, she urged others to learn more about it.

“I’ve survived more anaphylactic shocks than I’m prepared to go into detail about right now,” the 54-year-old said in a heartfelt Instagram video. “I have anaphylaxis, a life-threatening medical condition to certain foods that will compromise my body so horrifically to the point of hospitalisation.

“Absolute millions of my community around the world, children and adults, live cautiously and anxiously navigating this journey with not nearly enough compassion, education and empathy from those who do not.

“Today, everyone will know someone or someone who knows of one with anaphylaxis. If you ignore the severity of this medical condition, it’s as bad as shoving a loaded gun in my face.”

As Jo explains, anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction that usually occurs very quickly. It typically begins within minutes of exposure to an allergen such as food, insect bites, or medicine.

Anaphylaxis can cause a variety of symptoms, commonly including swelling of the tongue or throat, breathing and swallowing difficulties, wheezing, and dizziness. Some people also report paleness, greyness, or bluish colouration of their skin, tongue, or lips in certain cases.

In a previous interview with the Mirror Dr Gareth Nye, a Biomedical Science lecturer at the University of Salford, explained: “What triggers this is individual to you and it’s down to your immune system and genetics to determine whether you are allergic to something or not, and if you are, how severe that reaction is. You can also develop allergies over time due to exposure to common causes like dust or animal hair.”

Jo said the risks associated with anaphylaxis affect her daily life, requiring a lot of energy to take precautions and be hypervigilant. Yet, she stressed that everything would be a lot easier if other people better understood the condition.

“I’m unapologetic for my medical condition,” she continued. “I did not ask for it, and it does not define who I am and the impact that I make in the world daily.

“But it does impact how I live my life daily, like the precautions I take, the energy I have to use to discern with hypervigilance.[…] It means your ‘it may contain’ labels are a consistent truth that you dodge accountability legally and put your greed before my safety. It means that your ‘inclusion’ of health and safety standards doesn’t apply to me. Just non-anaphylaxis people out there.

“And by the way, I speak on behalf of those who also have celiac disease, too, because we are all not faddy eaters. I’m not looking to be treated special, I’m looking to be treated with the same dignity and attentiveness as you just showed others.”

In light of this, Jo further stressed that she doesn’t need ‘mumbling insults’ or ‘passive-aggressive’ comments from anyone who doesn’t fully appreciate the condition. Instead, she urged for more willingness to learn as, ultimately, it could save lives.

“Menus, workspaces, school training, events spaces for all, to champion children who are all ours really in this world,” she said. “Get curious and learn more, because really, as I mentioned before, we all know someone.”

Potential symptoms of anaphylaxis

According to the NHS, the most common symptoms of anaphylaxis include:

  • Wheezing, coughing or noisy breathing
  • Feeling faint, dizzy or fainting
  • Blue, grey or pale skin, lips or tongue – if you have brown or black skin, this may be easier to see on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet
  • Skin that feels cold to the touch
  • Feeling tired or confused
  • Swelling of your throat and tongue
  • A rash that’s swollen, raised or itchy
  • Difficulty breathing or breathing very fast
  • Trouble swallowing, tightness in your throat or a hoarse voice

If this goes untreated, a full anaphylactic shock may kill you within just 15 minutes, so it’s crucial to act fast when you notice something’s wrong.

Dr Nye also explained: “Once the allergen is removed from the area, the clear priority is to maintain a good airway and so avoiding over crowding is key. Asking the patient to keep breathing as normally as possible and keep calm can also help.

“Most people with severe allergies carry an ‘EpiPen’ which contains epinephrine and if the patient is unable to find and use this, people around can do this. Obviously calling an ambulance as early as possible is key.”

Although administering an EpiPen to yourself or someone else can seem quite daunting, instructions are typically included on the side of the injector. According to the product’s online guidance, this usually involves grasping the EpiPen in your dominant hand and removing the blue safety cap by ‘pulling straight up’.

At the other end of the EpiPen is an orange tip that should be pointed at the outer thigh at a distance of around 10cm. The tip should then be jabbed into the area at a right angle, held for three seconds before removing it.

Vernon Kay hits back at fans questioning how he got so many Oasis tour tickets

Liam and Noel Gallagher have been delighting fans in Cardiff and Manchester on their current Oasis Live ’25 Tour – and fans have noticed Vernon Kay in the crowds more than once

Vernon Kay has hit back at fans who have questioned how he got so many tickets for the current Oasis tour. The 51-year-old model and TV host, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing star Tess Daly, has been following the Gallagher brothers like a shadow after they kicked off their 41 date tour this month.

Liam, 52, and Noel, 58, launched their Oasis Live ’25 Tour in Cardiff on 4 July where they performed two night and are now in the midst of a five night run at Manchester’s Heaton Park. Former T4 host Vernon was among the crowd at Principality Stadium to watch Oasis perform in Wales.

And this weekend, he shared video clips of himself enjoying the group again – this time from Heaton Park in Manchester. The fact that he has appeared at two points on the same has left some music fans perplexed.

Following their gig on Friday, Vernon shared footage of himself watching the boys on stage while he sang along in the 80,000 strong audience. He shared the footage on his main Instagram grid, writing: “Manchester! Day1. @oasis The excellence continues! Bravo!!” along with a flame emoji.

But one baffled fan responded, writing: “How did Vernon get so many tickets? Cardiff now Manchester!” However, the mystery was anything but – as Vernon swiftly answered the question himself, writing in reply: “Paid for them!!”

Vernon, who has been the mid-morning host on BBC Radio 2 since May 2023, has been working for the BBC at Heaton park too. He interviewed support act Cast ahead of the weekend shows.

By all rights, the new Oasis tour has been a smash hit among fans and critics. The tour sees Liam and Noel belt out 23 hit songs – with crowds lapping up the banter, vocals, and staging.

The Mirror’s Showbiz Editor Mark Jefferies attended one of Oasis’s first two Heaton Park gigs and was blown away by the performance – as well as the friendly relations between the lead singers. He recounts: “On Saturday night at the end of the show the brothers hugged and then Noel pointed over to his brother in a clear show of admiration and to tell the crowd just how much he loved Liam’s performance. It was a shocking sight, the total opposite of their old rows on stage.”

Having managed to attend three of the first four gigs, Mark adds: “Would I like more stage interaction? Of course. And some of the lines on stage are now pre-planned which doesn’t feel very Oasis. But the Gallaghers have grown up, and like their mature fans who can only manage to jump up and down for the odd song in three these days, this style of set is what they need to make things work.”

The Mirror’s Daniel Bird also attended one of the Manchester dates, revealing: “Walking out at Heaton Park, you could never have imagined that there was once a feud between the two siblings. Putting on a united front, the two legends walked out to their 2000 track, F***in’ In The Bushes, to a crowd of 80,000 people, with the atmosphere instantly becoming electric.”

Oasis performed at Heaton Park on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July – and will return for three more gigs in the park in north Manchester. They have dates there on July 16, 19 and 20.

They then advance to London’s Wembley Stadium where they will take to the stage on July 25, 26 and 30 and August 2 and 3. While the two gigs in Manchester were a success, they were also marred by controversy as music fans without tickets attempted to storm the venue.

Police arrested 15 people over the weekend as dozens of fans attempted to scale the security barriers with a ladder.

Manchester Evening News reporter Chris Slater, revealed: “An eyewitness has told me that just before Oasis came on stage around 50 people tried to ‘rush’ one of the internal entrances to the gig area. They said around 10 appeared to get in but the rest were apprehended and turned away.”

Police later confirmed: “No one made it through to the concert area”. A dispersal order was issued in the park to combat the ticketless Oasis fans – and viral footage showed at least one man being led away in handcuffs.

Giving fans an insight into her filming experience in Bulgaria, Michelle revealed she’s been using this handheld portable fan to battle the summer heat. And we think we’ve found the one she’s been swearing by this summer.

Though it isn’t clear which model exactly Michelle was using in the Instagram photo, it looks just like this TUNISE Handheld Fan in Black, which is currently up for grabs on Amazon for under £20.

This Amazon Handheld fan looks just like the one Michelle used. It boasts a relatively small space, which makes it ideal for carrying in your hand, around your neck on a lanyard, or storing in your bag while you’re on the move. It features a 90-degree foldable design that means it can also be propped on a table or desk to keep you cool while you work or sleep, completely hands-free.

This portable fan retails for a wallet-friendly £16.99 and is available in a wide range of colourways, including Michelle’s choice of black shade.

Touted as ultra-quiet, this handheld fan boasts six adjustable speeds. The wind speed can be gradually increased from 1 to 5, depending on how cold you want the air. The sixth speed simulates a natural wind, ensuring you can keep cool with a less intense, gentle breeze.

This handheld fan has a long-lasting battery life and a rechargeable 4000mAh large-capacity battery. It can work continuously for 4-18 hours (depending on the speed setting. Plus, it recharges super fast, only taking 1.5 hours to fully charge. Promising to to suit any busy day, whether you’re getting your hair done on set like Michelle, heading to the beach, working in an office or travelling on a train, this fan is set to last all day – and if it’s charge does run out, it’s convenient to replenish its battery life with a simple portable charger or a quick plug in while you’re out and about.

Boasting an impressive 4.6 out of 5-star rating on Amazon, with over 8600 reviews, this fan has amassed plenty of praise from satisfied customers. One thrilled buyer beams: “This fan has been a lifesaver whilst pregnant! I took it on holiday with me, immediately used it in the airport as security was long and no air con before getting through to departures, used it in bar areas, outdoors on the beach, round my neck to carry it, and then on my return I’m able to pop it on desks at work when needed as it folds to accommodate being on sides.”

They go on to add: “The charge lasts well on levels 1-3 goes much quicker on the higher functions. I love how easy it is to use and it’s definitely portable but powerful! It’s pretty quiet depending where you are too and the function where you can use it as a powerbank in a pinch was brilliant. Cannot recommend this fan enough!”

Another happy shopper raves: “Very happy with this fan – I’ve bought a number of different fans over the years, and while all are good, I realised this one was the best when I was comparing them all in terms of noise, wind speed / impact, and overall design / look / functionality etc. This fan has 6 settings, and is less noisy than the others, but probably the best airflow. What I noticed about this fan is that the airflow goes directly into your face, whereas some other fans can sort of fan the air around the side of your face, but not right into your face – so that was a big plus for this fan.”

They continue: “Also, I love the sleek design of this fan as well as the colour. Also a great size and sturdy (while also flexible when moving the handle), and the battery charge life also seems great. It’s also great that it tells you the percentage of battery left, as other fans often just have a simple 3 bars – whereas this fan has the exact percentage so easier to know how much you truly have left. Very happy, thanks! Will probably be buying a second one soon!”

And a third chimes in: “This fan is AWESOME. I used it on a recent holiday to Africa and it worked perfectly and was very effective at keeping me very cool (I wish I had bought 2 as my relatives kept borrowing it….the fan was that good). Once fully charged it lasted me the whole day and I would usually leave it to charge overnight. It’s a great, sturdy little fan and you should definitely get it.”

David Beckham and Romeo look tense as they break cover after Brooklyn row blew up

A Beckham family feud has been hinted at for months but it seems that it has come to breaking point with family members unfollowing each other on social media

David Beckham and Romeo have been seen looking tense as they broke cover for the first time after the a row with Brooklyn blew up on social media.

The father and son duo looked deep in thought as they got together to watch David’s Inter Miami play against Nashville SC at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday. The sighting of the pair comes just just days after Cruz and Romeo blocked their brother Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz on Instagram – as their severed ties deepened.

David looked as smart as ever in a navy suit paired with a blue shirt along with a matching tie. While 22-year-old Romeo went for a more casual look in a grey Snoop Dog T-shirt and green camouflage cargos as he finished off his look with a smart Rolex watch.

Romeo seemingly had a dig at brother Brooklyn on Friday just a few hours after it was noticed he had started unfollowing him and sister-in-law Nicola on Instagram. The model posted a picture of Justin Bieber’s new song Walking Away as he commented “Yup”, looking like he agreed with the lyrics.

Fans had hoped for a reconciliation between the family after Brooklyn posted a tribute to his sister Harper on her birthday.

A friend said Brooklyn was ‘as confused as everyone else’ about the apparent blocking. “The first they heard about it was when it was being reported,” a source told The Sun of Brooklyn and Nicola’s reaction/

Despite the unfollowing saga, Brooklyn and Nicola are still following his parents Victoria and David.

A rumoured fallout among the famous family was seemingly confirmed when Brooklyn made a very public statement by refusing to attend any of his dad’s 50th birthday celebrations this year. He then snubbed a slew of family occasions from Father’s Day to the huge moment his dad was given a knighthood.

However, Brooklyn appeared to find his voice when it came to sister Harper’s birthday as he managed a brief tribute to her on his Instagram page.

It was reported the fallout was down to Romeo dating model Kim Turnbull – who had a brief relationship with Brooklyn. Romeo’s romance – which is now at an end – was said to have riled both Brooklyn and his wife Nicola.

Kim addressed the situation last month and insisted she has only ever had a friendship with Brooklyn and that there was nothing to worry about. Sharing a statement on her Instagram page, she said: “I’ve avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it’s come to a point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on.

“I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative. I have never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point with the person in question.

“Nothing between us has occurred further than a school friendship at age 16. I would like to remove myself from the ongoing conversation & set the record straight for the sake of everyone involved.”

Kim had been at the centre of the fall out after it was reported that Nicola claimed that she felt uncomfortable around her. Sources close to Nicola reportedly said that Kim had dated Brooklyn when they were teenagers but this has since been denied by Kim herself.

The Mirror have contacted the Beckhams’ and Nicola Peltz’ reps for comment
