A tribute to the late John Stapleton has been shared on Good Morning Britain following the news of his death over the weekend. The journalist had worked on the breakfast show when it first launched just over a decade ago.

Susanna Reid said, “We will be on air this morning on Good Morning Britain with the family of John Stapleton in our hearts.” He was a part of the history of breakfast television, as well as this program.

He was both a significant figure at ITV and the BBC, Richard continued. He was enormous.

This morning, GMB paid tribute to John Stapleton.

“Throughout the entire program, we will be remembering John,” Susanna continued. Last year, John described coming out about his Parkinson’s diagnosis in his own words during an interview with us. He had such a strong attitude.

Susanna praised his “witness and warmth,” claiming that a “legend” has been lost in broadcasting. Richard said, “I can’t believe he’s gone actually, despite my best efforts to be emotional.” It seems impossible to believe.

It was announced yesterday that John died, aged 79, earlier that morning. His agent shared in a statement that he had Parkinson’s disease complicated by pneumonia, adding that the broadcaster died “peacefully” in hospital. The news prompted tributes, including from former colleagues.

Following the news of John’s passing, Good Morning Britain paid tribute to him today. He had been a part of the ITV show from 2014 to 2015. ADD

John’s decade long career saw him work for the BBC on shows like Panorama and Watchdog, which he hosted with his late wife Lynn Faulds Wood, who died in 2020. He also worked on TV-am’s Good Morning Britain from 1983 to 1986.

Whilst at ITV, John worked on GMTV and then Daybreak. He went on to move over to Good Morning Britain, known as GMB, when it replaced Daybreak in 2014. He remained a presenter on the show until the following year.

Former coworkers had already shared information about John on social media before the tribute on Good Morning Britain was posted. Susanna Reid, who reported John Stapleton’s passing on X yesterday, was one of them.

Susanna concluded by stating, “He was a legend in broadcasting, the consummate professional, and always good-humoured and gracious to work with.” a significant portion of the GMB’s history on television and in the story. expressing love to John’s family.

The news of John’s death comes just days after his son Nick Stapleton spoke about him on Morning Live. Host Gethin Jones said that John had taken “a bit of a turn for the worse” so Nick, who appeared by video link, was with him.

“Unfortunately, Dad has a little chest infection, which can be quite nasty if you have Parkinson’s,” Nick said. And I just felt like I needed to help him a lot this weekend. And thankfully, that has been put in place, and I’m optimistic that, as you know, he’ll return to form soon.

John shared his Parkinson’s diagnosis in October last year. As reported at the time, he said in a film for the BBC show: “Speaking is how I’ve earned my living for the best part of 50 years, and it’s very frustrating sometimes, particularly if people are constantly saying to you, sorry, what did you say?”

And he continued, “And you have to repeat yourself time and time again.” Regarding the possibility that things could get worse, I’m fairly pragmatic. What purpose does it serve to remain positive?

John later told the Mirror in an interview published in November last year: “Parkinson’s is not going to go away, so learn to live with it. I take the best advice I can from my neurologist, from my speech therapist, and get on with it.”

Cox refuses to let injury deny him another England tilt

Jordan Cox, England’s T20 winner over Ireland on Sunday, claims he was always ready to “battle on” with a knee injury.

The 24-year-old’s 55 from 35 balls, which came with the key knock in the six-wicket victory that gave Malahide a 2-0 series victory, made him the first international player to play for ten months.

Cox appeared to squirm when Ross Adair caught the ball during Ireland’s innings.

He didn’t think about losing another chance to injury after being denied a Test debut against New Zealand in November because of a broken thumb he sustained in the nets.

There was no way he would bat because he said he might have to wait another two years.

“I probably haven’t waited a while because of my injuries,” I said. It’s quite difficult to join this team.

It was very difficult to get that taken away.

Cox’s maiden half-century, which included his sixth international appearance in an England jersey, was unapologetically higher than his previous best of 17 in a single-seat performance.

He claimed he had looked to have a chance to add some of that confidence to his international debut after leading The Hundred in runs scored and receiving the Most Valuable Player award last month.

Don’t worry about it; it’s just a ball coming down. Whoever bowls it should just have a little fun and demonstrate their abilities. That’s what I attempted to accomplish.

“Come on, this is just franchise cricket and I’m playing for the Oval, just enjoy it and have a little fun,” I said. “I seemed to do well in that Oval shirt.”

Why not try to do it everywhere since that’s what I do while I’m there?

Cox claimed that missing a Test match against New Zealand last winter has “really struggled.”

Jacob Bethell, age 21, made his Test debut on the road in his absence and appears to be a member of the team that will be named this week for the Ashes series in Australia this winter.

Cox continued, “To have the opportunity to play for your country in Test cricket was something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m still dreaming about doing, so to have that opportunity taken away was really difficult.

“My friends and family, the people who were close to me, said there was a reason for it,” my friend said. Someone told me I wasn’t ready for Test cricket, if that meant I wasn’t quite ready yet.

Olympic calendar may need adapting because of climate change – Coe

Images courtesy of Getty

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe predicts that the challenges posed by climate change may require a “re-engineering” of the world’s calendar of Olympic sports in response to the sweltering temperatures encountered in Tokyo.

Following nine days of intense competition, the sport’s household names lit up Japan’s National stadium, which had hosted the Olympics behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, on Sunday night.

The athletes’ discussions about the conditions that they had to contend with, particularly in the endurance events, were dominated by discussions in the championships’ opening days, where excessive temperatures exceeded 30C were accompanied by stifling humidity above 90%.

World Athletics will hold its inaugural Ultimate Championships in Budapest the following year to bridge the gap between its main events and bring the 2026 season to a close. World Athletics will also hold the quadrennial Olympic Games and biennial World Championships.

However, Lord Coe suggested that competitions like the marathon might need to be held separately, at a different time of year, to protect competitors from future risk of bad weather.

Coe told BBC Sport, “Yes, I do see that.” “That’s not simple because you’re moving to cities that are still very hot in the spring and early winter.”

According to Coe, a study conducted by World Athletics found that 70% of athletes believe their training and training programs are being impacted by climate change and the heat.

The 68-year-old added that “governments haven’t really stepped up to the plate” on the issue and that “I can’t see beyond the inevitable need to have to, collectively, as Olympic sports and probably the Olympic movement, really re-engineer what the international calendar looks like.”

There will be some branding issues, according to World Athletics, but I’m not sure we can continue to ask some of our endurance-based athletes to compete at times that are likely to put them in danger as well.

Coe also stated that all female athletes who competed in the female category of the World Championships had been tested for gene expression, and that the test is still valid.

He reaffirmed that any information about any athletes who might have been unable to compete as a result of the cheek swab test will remain private.

Athletics are “moving in the right direction,” Bolt asserts.

One of the sport’s biggest names was Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, who captivated the frequently sold-out 60, 000 crowds at Japan’s National Stadium, including pole vault legend Armand Duplantis, American Olympians Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Noah Lyles, and American Olympian Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

Duplantis, 25, broke the record for the most outstanding performance by breaking his 14th world record on his final attempt after capturing a third consecutive title.

McLaughlin-Levrone surpassed the controversial 40-year women’s 400-meter world record, while fellow compatriot Lyles won the 200-meter title for the fourth time in a row from Jamaica, and Kipyegon won the historic fourth world 1500m title.

Coe concluded his news conference on Sunday by saying, “I think our sport is in excellent shape.” We have more followers and a wider appeal than we have in a very long time.

World Athletics hosts its three-day Ultimate Championships in Budapest next year, which features world champions, Diamond League winners, and 2026’s top athletes, and offers a $10 million (£7.5 million) prize pot.

The final leg of Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track was postponed earlier this year due to financial concerns, and some athletes are still waiting to receive money as a result of the inaugural season of the sport, which excluded field competitions.

World Athletics plans to test concepts that might later be included in the sport’s established major stages using the Ultimate Championship, according to Coe.

“Our sport has a four-year cycle, and during one of those years, we don’t receive the ten billion eyeballs.” We can’t afford that because it’s a global sport,” Coe said.

We considered what we can do to be unique and can foster change, test products, and possibly bring them to a World Championship.

There is still much more work to be done, according to the author, “I think it will be great.”

Bolt, a world-class athlete with eight Olympic gold medals, said the Ultimate Championships are a “good start” for the sport as it strives to develop.

Track and field needs to evolve, Bolt said.

The incentive is great because track and field is one of the poorest sports and one of the biggest sports, so I’m happy for the athletes because they deserve it.

Coe cited technological advancements in the synthetic track surface, the athletes’ footwear, and the development of coaching techniques in light of the high level of performances in Tokyo and the overall improvement in standards.

Some of the performances we’ve seen here are “absolutely jaw-dropping,” said Coe.

The sport is progressing pretty much in the same way in track and field, which is wonderful.

Special teams shine as five games settled on final play

Despite the numerous top NFL players, the more unknown kickers and backup quarterbacks dominated an unusual Sunday of week three.

Amazingly, five games were settled on the final play, four of which were field goals, including the Green Bay Packers’ huge upset win over the Cleveland Browns.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ final field goal was blocked by the Los Angeles Rams, and the team’s Super Bowl triumph kept them unbeaten.

Before the Eagles’ biggest home run since 1988, when Jalen Hurts finally found himself off the leash in the second half with his first touchdown passes of the season, the Rams dominated and led 26-7 in Philadelphia.

The Eagles’ two fourth-quarter field goal attempts, however, were prevented by special teams.

The Rams won the game on the final kick, as Jordan Davis blocked it and returned it for a touchdown 61 yards.

He weighs 336 pounds, making him the heaviest player ever, according to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, who recorded him at 18.59 mph.

Packers win by a long margin; Browns win.

With less than four minutes left in Cleveland, Green Bay’s 10-0 lead came to an end, as a wild ending resulted in the Browns’ season opener.

Jordan Love had his first interception in ten regular-season games, but Brandon McManus had set up Brandon for a field goal to win.

Mahomes excels for the Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs won their first game of the campaign against the New York Giants on Patrick Mahomes’ recent birthday, making it his 30th birthday.

In New York, it was difficult to defend against a ferocious pass rush, but Mahomes’ vintage gunslinging throws in the second half earned the Chiefs a 22-9 victory.

Tyquan Thornton, who caught a touchdown and set up the other with a brilliant deep dive grab, is now Mahomes’ top deep option.

The late winners’ Tampa Bay kings

The New York Jets had a 17-point lead in Tampa Bay by one point when Will McDonald returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown.

However, Baker Mayfield, who scored a walk-off field goal and led the Buccaneers to another late winner, is perhaps the league’s most underappreciated quarterback.

The Bucs won their first three games in the final minute of the match, moving them to 3-0 for the first time in 20 years.

The Los Angeles Chargers last started with a 3-3 lead in 23 years, and they did it with the final kick of the game against the Denver Broncos, like the Bucs.

The Indianapolis Colts are a slightly more unexpected 3-0 team, but Daniel “Indiana” Jones’ historic style shocks him even more as he is the first quarterback to pass three touchdown passes and not an intercept in his first three starts of the season.

Jones dominates as back-ups prosper.

Another game and a final-kick winner as Mac Jones led the 49ers past Arizona to demonstrate that he could still start for the NFL after Brock Purdy replaced him.

Wentz helped Minnesota to record their sixth straight win since 1998 by starting for a record sixth different team.

More to do with the Cincinnati Bengals’ incompetence and the incredible performance of Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, who returned touchdowns with fumble returns of 87 yards and a 66-yard interception return, than with their victory, which came up against them.

Favre is passed by Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers passed Brett Favre for 510 regular-season touchdown passes, and the big things kept coming. With 63, 538 passing yards, he now ranks fourth in the standings.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New England Patriots, who were largely responsible for the error-strewn defeat, was even more significant.

Caleb Williams is the first player to pass for 225 yards and three touchdowns in a half of a game this year, and he appears to be the Draft’s No. 1 pick.

Given the domineering nature of their 31-14 defeat, Williams gave the Chicago Bears’ head coach his first victory and asked the Dallas Cowboys for more questions.

The Houston Texans lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars for the first time in eight years when they started the season with a 0-3 start.

Peter Andre’s sad admission: ‘I’m scared for my kids – it feels like everything’s coming to a head’

In his weekly column, Peter Andre admitted to being “scared” for his kids because “everything comes to a head” about them in a depressing statement.

Peter Andre is “worried” for his children at the moment amid uncertain political times, the Mysterious Girl singer has revealed in his weekly New! Magazine column.

Dad-of-five Peter explained that he felt the world was a “scary place” nowadays following the assasination of politician Charlie Kirk. The right-wing political activist was shot dead on Wednesday 10 September while speaking with members of the public.

In his column, Peter remarked about the incident, “The world seems like a very scary, dark place right now.” No matter what you think of Charlie Kirk’s murder, there have been unrest, demonstrations, and wars in various locations.

It scares me, but it also scares me more about my kids and the world they are growing up in. It seems like everything is about to end. “I sincerely hope not,” he continued.

Peter is a dad to Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, from his first marriage to Katie Price, and shares Theo, Millie and Arabella with wife Emily MacDonagh.

He recently shared that it was “bittersweet” sending his middle children back to school after a busy summer, writing in his column earlier this month: “The kids going back to school has been quite emotional for them. Not least because Amelia (Millie) has started secondary school, and Theo is now without his sister in primary school. It’s bittersweet for parents as well.”

Peter made a point of expressing his appreciation for the young people, but he also acknowledged that his opinions on their development were constrained. We are so proud of the children for their accomplishments, and we love seeing them develop into beautiful people, he continued, “It’s so hard not to feel sad that the kids are growing up so quickly.” Additionally, it’s nice to get some rest during the day. Oh no, we have a 16-month-old. LOL. “

Peter also mentioned that his sister has recently been to the UK and that their “special” family times have recently been described in his column this week.

“My lovely sister Debbie was over with us from Australia for a while and we had such special times together. The family all went to see Back To the Future at the weekend – it’s always been one of my favourite films and the theatre show didn’t disappoint!” said Peter.

Peter continued to say that she was returning to his parents, including taking care of his 88-year-old mother Thea, who has Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s dementia.

“It was sad when Debbie flew back to Oz and we had to say our goodbyes, but at least I know she’ll be there helping to keep an eye on mum and dad. Mum’s not great and though I know she’s only going to get worse, it never gets any easier,” he explained.
