Strictly’s Nancy Xu speaks out on disappointment over not getting a celebrity partner

Nancy Xu, a Strictly Come Dancing star, has made a statement following the announcement that she won’t be starring alongside a famous person on the BBC show this year. She shared a message this week.

Professional dancer Nancy Xu has spoken out about not having a celebrity partner on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing ahead of the first live show. It comes after this year’s couples were unveiled to viewers just days ago.

It was revealed in the pre-recorded launch, which aired on Saturday, that several pros haven’t been matched with a celebrity. They include Nancy, 34, as well as Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas and Neil Jones. Weeks prior, Gorka Márquez had shared that he wouldn’t have a partner.

Following the news of the pairings, it was reported that Nancy had been left “upset” by the situation. She’s since shared her thoughts in a video message to fans ahead of the live shows, which are scheduled to start this weekend.

Nancy shared a video on Instagram tonight. It began with clips of her being asked if she was “okay” by co-stars. She was seen saying “yeah” and smiling in response to the concerns in the skit before looking downcast each time.

Then, in a message to viewers, Nancy expressed gratitude for the support she has received recently. She acknowledged that she initially was disappointed but that she still felt like a “family” to fans because of her.

Thank you so much for the kind, loving, and encouraging messages I’ve received recently, Nancy said. I’m fine. I’m fine. I don’t have a dance partner on Strictly Come Dancing this year, as you all know by now.

She said: “In the very beginning, when I just received the messages, it [did] upset me and [I] felt disappointed.” Nancy, who joined the BBC show in 2019, said about having moved to the UK from China: “All I wanted is to achieve my dream.”

Nancy continued, “Strictly has given me such a large platform to showcase my talents and skills. I’m good because I’m still a member of the Strictly family, despite the fact that I thought this year was left out.

In the message shared this week, she continued, “This year you might hear my voice more than ever because I will give my full energy to help all my Strictly family.” I’ll be cheering for them wherever they go. Nancy made a joke about her involvement with It Takes Two and Morning Live, not least of which will still be a part of the group.

Nancy claimed that fans’ messages “mean the world” to her before claiming that she was “sending them all of her love.” She said, “Please keep yourself warm because it’s getting cold.” Keep dancing, please!

In the caption that accompanied the video, Nancy wrote in the post: “Thank you all for all your love, kind and supportive messages in the past few days! It has meant a world.”

She was met with support from fans and colleagues in the comments section. Michelle wrote: “We love you and I’m here for you my girl! We’ve got each other.” Amy Dowden said: “You are superstar, a beautiful dancer and so loved.”

Vito Coppola wrote: “We love you Xu and I am sure all your dreams will come true. You are never alone, we are always together. Thank you for supporting us and for being the rarest friend that everyone would want in their life, I consider myself lucky to have you in mine. See you soon Xuuuu)))))).” Whilst Kai Widdrington said: “Your star will always shine bright beautiful Nancy.”

For the first time in five years, Nancy hasn’t had a partner on the main series. However, she’s only ever seen again with another celebrity from a Christmas special because her partners from the previous two have both made it to the main show with other actors in the process.

Nancy was a runner-up in last year’s special with Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, who is now competing with Karen Hauer on the main series this year. Similarly, Nancy won the Christmas special in 2023 with former EastEnders cast member Jamie Borthwick, but he was then partnered with Michelle when he competed on Strictly last year.

‘Emotions got better of me’ – Ekitike’s ‘stupidity’ opens door for Isak

A moment of madness has cost Liverpool’s other top-notch forward a fortune on a night when they celebrated the record signing Alexander Isak’s arrival.

In the Carabao Cup’s fourth round, Hugo Ekitike scored the winner in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Southampton.

However, Ekitike removed his shirt and held it up in celebration as he was caught up in the 85th-minute goal.

He had probably known that he would be booked for that, and he was glad to pay the price, but it appeared as though he had forgotten that he had already received a yellow card.

He will be suspended for Saturday’s Premier League game at Crystal Palace, which is unacceptable when the player he is potentially competing with is back to full fitness.

Ekitike apologized on social media on Tuesday night, saying: “I was so happy to help the team win another victory here in our home for my first Carabao Cup game.

“I got upset with the emotion,” I said. I’m sorry to everyone in the Red family. Thank you to the fans who continue to cheer us on and to my teammates for winning!

However, his manager Arne Slot was perplexed by the incident when he spoke shortly after the game.

Even if you haven’t received a yellow card yet, he said, “It’s not stupid because it was his second yellow.”

Maybe you can say, “This is all about me,” but I did score a few goals (not at his level), and if I put one in the top corner after three other players, it was probably too late.

However, if I scored like he did tonight, I would turn to Chiesa and say, “I didn’t have to do a lot,” “it’s about you Federico.” Perhaps it’s because I’m old-fashioned.

How much could Ekitike spend on it?

Ekitike, a £69 million signing from Eintracht Frankfurt, has been excellent this season so far.

He has three Premier League goals and one assist in the first five games that the Reds have won since signing Isak, taking their time to work the Sweden forward until they are fully fit.

That underscores Liverpool’s significance to the team, despite his unnecessarily dismissal on Tuesday, and has helped them win every game they have played since their Community Shield defeat by Crystal Palace on August 10.

In fact, he picked two unnecessary cards. Isak was replaced at the start of the second half, but soon after receiving a foul he threw the ball in the air.

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton claimed on BBC Radio 5 Live that “for Ekitike to receive a second yellow card for taking his shirt off is just pure stupidity.”

He has been a significant player for Liverpool this season, including his important goal against Southampton, but Arne Slot won’t be happy if he sits out the weekend game.

Important learning experiences are likely to be the main takeaway for Ekitike from this.

I’d be surprised if he repeats the phrase, “added Slot.”

He probably misplaced his yellow card. He will grow from it because he is young. He won’t do it again, I assure you.

Is Isak prepared to face Palace in the first game?

Since joining Liverpool, Isak has been carefully managed in terms of playing time.

His previous two starts included a cup match against Southampton on September 17 with a 58-minute start against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and a second-half start against Atletico Madrid.

He made just one Premier League appearance, coming off the bench in the team’s 2-1 win over Everton at the weekend, when he came off the bench in the 67th minute.

Slot may have planned to give Isak more game time at Crystal Palace, so he likely did because he likely had one eye on the weekend.

He also had a big chance early in the game but fired straight at goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Isak told ITV, “I feel good.” Every game I play is very beneficial and helps me get in better shape.

It is difficult to say, he continued, “On if he feels ready to start.” It combines football and fitness into one.

Khamenei rules out talks with US over Iran’s nuclear programme

As a result of diplomatic gatherings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Tehran won’t directly negotiate with the United States over Iran’s nuclear program. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described discussions with the US as “a sheer dead end.”

Following Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi’s meeting with diplomats from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom (known as the E3) as well as European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas over the reimposition of sanctions, which is scheduled to take place in just days, the supreme leader made the remarks on Iranian state television on Tuesday.

Negotiating with the US again is a key issue for them. US President Donald Trump vowed to “never possess a nuclear weapon” in a speech at the UNGA, referring to Tehran as the “world’s top sponsor of terror.”

In his recorded address, Khamenei stated that “the US has already announced the results of the discussions.” The end of nuclear activities and enrichment is the result. There is no negotiation here. It is a diktat, or imposition.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) rejected a resolution to impose sanctions on Iran, which came a day later.

Tehran has been accused of breaking its nuclear commitments by, among others, building up uranium stocks that are more than 40 times that are permitted by a 2015 nuclear deal, which Trump unilaterally withdrew from during his first term.

Iran and the world’s leaders, including the US, signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which put an end to Iranian nuclear ambitions.

Trump had reimposed sanctions on Iran in 2018 as part of his so-called “maximum pressure” policy, though. Despite initially criticizing them, President Joe Biden’s administration continued with his policies on Iran.

If Iran resumes direct negotiations with the US over its nuclear program, allows UN nuclear inspectors to visit its nuclear sites, and accounts for the UN’s nuclear watchdog’s claim that it has access to more than 400 kg (880 pounds) of highly enriched uranium, European nations have indicated they would be willing to extend the deadline on sanctions.

According to James Bays of Al Jazeera, the UNGA’s Tuesday meeting “didn’t go particularly well,” according to German Foreign Affairs Minister Johann Wadephul, it “didn’t go particularly well.”

According to EU foreign policy chief Kallas, Iran must “some real action” from the European negotiating team in order to avoid sanctions.

There is a chance in diplomacy. Let’s see, the deadlines are approaching. She added that Iranian involvement is also needed.

Iran’s nuclear policy

Iran has repeatedly disputed its nuclear weapons’ right to pursue it peacefully.

Tehran’s nuclear doctrine was reiterated in Khamenei’s speech on Tuesday, according to Al Jazeera’s Tohid Assadi, who was based in Tehran. Iran does not want nuclear weapons, but it will not rely on international pressure, Assadi said.

Israel launched a 12-day war against Iran in June, with Israeli and US forces striking a number of nuclear facilities, raising tensions. The UN nuclear watchdog board declared that Iran was breaking international nuclear safeguards the day after the Israeli-US bombing.

Iran’s nuclear program received a significant economic blow that Tehran claimed was “politically biased” when the UNSC voted last week not to permanently lift sanctions on the country.

The E3’s late August decision to reinstate sanctions unless Tehran met their demands was followed by that vote.

Iran rebuffed the UNSC vote, claiming that restarting its cooperation with the UN watchdog would “effectively suspend” the nation’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iranian lawmakers demanded on Monday that the nation begin building nuclear weapons because they fear a new round of sanctions could lead to a new conflict with Israel.

The sanctions will “snap back” on Saturday night if no agreement is reached this week. In addition, it would, among other things, freeze Iranian assets abroad, halt arms sales to Tehran, and penalize any expansion of Iran’s ballistic missile program.

However, there may still be hope. In case the two countries come to terms and avoid resuming sanctions, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi announced on Tuesday that a team of inspectors was headed to Iran.
