Australia’s Hazlewood humbles India in second T20 ahead of World Cup

Australia won the second T20I against India at Melbourne Cricket Ground with a dominant four-wicket performance thanks to a masterclass with the ball from Josh Hazlewood and a batsmanship blitz from Mitchell Marsh.

In a 82,438 capacity crowd, fast bowler Hazlewood defeated India for 125 in a devastating opening game at the sporting colosseum on Friday, taking 3-13 and collecting 15 dot balls.

With 40 balls to go, the hosts reeled in the modest total before Captain Marsh and Travis Head shared a 51-run opening partnership with Travis Head.

Australia will lead the five-match series 1-0 heading into its third game on Sunday in Hobart after the rainy Canberra opener washed out on Wednesday.

Abhishek Sharma, the opener for India, won with 68 off 37 balls, amplifying his burgeoning reputation with a strong first fifty on Australian soil.

However, he was one of only two Indian batters to score twice on a fast-paced, fast-paced pitch.

On the first ball, Shubman Gill gave out lbw after Marsh won the toss and chose to field.

Hazlewood followed up with a short ball that crashed into Gill’s helmet, which was overturned after being reviewed.

A shake-up Gill slogged Hazlewood, leading to a five-year high order collapse, after which a top-order collapsed.

Suryakumar Yadav was the skipper’s fourth single-digit score in six games before dismissing Tilak Varma for a duck with a top-edge caught by wicketkeeper Inglis.

India was in serious trouble at 32 for four by the time Hazlewood’s four-over spell came to an end.

In whatever format I’m playing, the ball seems to be coming out really well, according to man-of-the-match Hazlewood.

“It was just put the ball in the right places; don’t try too hard; just watch what happens.”

In the first over he faced, Sharma had a strong start as he smashed 14 runs off paceman Xavier Bartlett (2-39).

In a 56-run stand for the sixth wicket, he and Harshit Rana (35) saved India from embarrassment.

However, Bartlett quickly resurrected from his bruising early spell, dismissing Rana and Shivam Dube, who had brilliantly been brilliantly pouched by a diving Inglis.

Three parties give proof of funds to buy Sheff Wed

The administrators of Sheffield Wednesday have received evidence of £50 million in funding to buy the Championship club from three parties.

More interested parties are likely to come forward, according to BBC Sheffield.

Dejphon Chansiri’s 10-year ownership of the Owls was ended last Friday when they were put in administration.

They were placed in administration after the English Football League (EFL) deducted them 12 points, leaving them 16 points adrift of safety.

The club’s administrators reported on Thursday that they had received all of their wages one day earlier than expected.

Under Chansiri’s chaotic management, wage payments had been delayed in five of the previous seven months.

Fans have started a boycott of the club since it became public, with many supporters not showing up for meetings with Leeds United and Grimsby Town at Hillsborough and Middlesbrough’s home league game this month.

Fans have already spent more than £500, 000 on tickets and in the club shop, according to administrator Kris Wigfield, who is looking for new owners.

According to him, there are already “four or five interested parties that appear to be the real deal,” but the club must still be on the market for 28 days in accordance with EFL regulations before transferring to preferred-bidder status.

He stated on BBC 5 Live’s Wake Up To Money program, “I’m optimistic that by the end of November, if things turn out well, we might know who will buy the football team.”

If the EFL permits the new owner to buy players, “hopefully a deal can be reached this calendar year” to allow the new owner to enter the January transfer window.

Hundreds of fans also attended a free first-team training session earlier this week at the Owls’ home ground.

Under-Fire Slot Tells Liverpool To Snap Losing ‘Habit’

After a string of defeats in their last seven games that plunged the Premier League champions into crisis, Liverpool manager Arne Slot warned his team not to make it a habit to lose games they should win.

Prior to Aston Villa’s Saturday trip to Anfield, the Reds have lost their last four league games, and they also lost to Crystal Palace in midweek.

After facing criticism for his 3-0 defeat to the Eagles, Slot again defended the need to rest his key players after a string of injury issues in the first half of the season.

Ryan Gravenberch is only just starting to recover from an ankle injury, while Alexander Isak, Jeremie Frimpong, and Alisson Becker are all still sidelined.

Slot was watching Villa’s impressive visit, Real Madrid’s Champions League trip to Anfield on Tuesday, and Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

At his pre-game press conference on Friday, Slot stated, “It has nothing to do with the squad depth; it has rather how we have handled the injuries and availability throughout the season.”

Simply put, the situation is as it is. I have to take care of a few of the players, and that is why I made the decision not to play. However, there are still more than enough good players available to play the game on Saturday, the game on Tuesday, and the game on Sunday. ”

Villa fell 12 points clear of Liverpool after five games of the Premier League campaign.

However, the two teams only meet this weekend because Unai Emery’s men are in top form just as Liverpool’s losing streak began.

Villa served as a primer for his team on how quickly things can change and how the Premier League can perform as a whole.

Only three points separate second-placed Bournemouth from eighth-placed Villa, despite Arsenal’s four-point lead at the top of the table.

Other than Arsenal, I believe there are other teams in the same points, which again proves how difficult the Premier League is,” Slot continued.

You don’t ever lose a game of football where you create more chances than the other team, even though the run is already quite long with us.

Let’s hope we make a habit of having more chances than the opponent but not winning it, Villa said. ”

‘I’m not Schmeichel in disguise – I am just Senne Lammens’

Senne Lammens, a newcomer to Manchester United, claims he is not afraid of the strain that will be put on him as a result of playing one of the most closely watched roles in modern football.

In the modern, digital era, head coach Ruben Amorim only recently mentioned the “massive” pressure on any United goalkeeper.

With only one full season of senior football left on his hands, Lammens could be forgiven for feeling the heat more than most, especially since United’s hierarchy blocked Amorim’s request to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa on transfer deadline day.

Lammens did not, however, convey to BBC Sport in his first external interview prior to United’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, giving the impression of someone with self-doubt.

The Belgian stated, “You hear from other people that there is a lot of pressure coming here and playing for this team.”

“But I welcome that,” he said. First of all, it’s nice to have a big team like yours. I’m not too worried about it because there should be a lot of pressure.

Andre Onana, who has since joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on loan, and Altay Bayindir, who started the season’s first six Premier League games, received a standing ovation the first time they caught the ball during his debut against Sunderland on October 4th, despite their lack of belief in the Old Trafford faithful.

A welcome return from United made for the season led to chants like “Are you Schmeichel in disguise?” in reference to Danish legend Peter Schmeichel, one of the club’s most well-known and admired goalkeepers.

Lammens was unaware of the song’s significance. Even though he acknowledges that he is still far away from receiving a link, he was delighted when he saw the news.

He said, “I don’t listen to it too much during the game, but I did hear it later.”

“I’m not Schmeichel disguised,” I say. Senne Lammens is all I’m trying to help the team.

In the Sunderland game, it was made clear that United were using longer balls more frequently, and even more so in the victory over Liverpool two weeks later.

Lammens claimed that his decision was made after the success of Anfield rather than his own.

However, it complies with his own philosophy.

He said, “Tapping is a topic of great discussion, but it is not about that.” It depends on the intensity and our playing style.

It’s also about being realistic and aware that Liverpool’s build-up match won’t be the prettiest game.

Being direct and playing for the second balls was more important. With the players we have, we can always make it difficult for the opponent if we are high up on the pitch.

“It also prevents us from finding it difficult.” Sometimes building from the back hurts you more than it helps.

I’ve been working with the guys in midfield and up front to ensure that I don’t take too many chances and trust them. Sometimes we need to “get the ball there as quickly as possible.”

Lammens believes that the connection between his defense and his success since receiving the shirt is essential, and Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt make a point of putting their expectations first.

They told me that I don’t need to be the most amazing or exceptional goalkeeper, but rather that I just need to be there when needed to give the team trust, he said.

They feel more at ease knowing that there is someone who can assist them.

“Helping the defense with communication is one of the key responsibilities of a goalkeeper.”

Lammens became a goalkeeper partly because his older brother, a lifelong United fan, needed someone to save his shots and partly because he was too hesitant to run.

His debut in the Premier League was not without fault. He had a chance to escape with a poor run out of his penalty area on his debut. He was questioned over Danny Welbeck’s free-kick goal for Brighton last weekend after he claimed a routine catch and nearly fumbled it.

However, given that Royal Antwerp fans were eager to spend the £18.1 million on deadline day at the start of their professional careers, and given that these were the positive aspects of his first three games, it makes me wonder why he was benched for the first three games.

The player believes it was the right decision after two of those matches, at Brentford and Manchester City, ended in defeat.

He said, “There was nothing about there being a strict plan,” noting that. The best goalkeeper will play was always the case.

“But I had a little difficulty with the training at first. The manager took note of that and gave me some time to adjust. I had the ideal opportunity to win the first game. From there, everything worked out smoothly. A better start is impossible to imagine.

Lammens is aware that there is still work to be done in order to reach the desired level of European qualification.

But he has wandered into his future plans while working at Old Trafford.

UN human rights chief says US strikes on alleged drug boats ‘unacceptable’

The United Nations’ human rights chief has demanded an investigation into US military operations against ships allegedly carrying illegal drugs from South America in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean, calling on the attacks to end.

Volker Turk, the UN’s head of human rights, issued a statement on Friday that the UNHCR had the first official condemnation of US strikes.

“These attacks are unacceptable, and their continuing human suffering,” Turk said. Whatever the criminal conduct alleged against them, the US must put an end to these attacks and take all necessary steps to stop the extrajudicial killing of those aboard these ships.

At a regular UN briefing, Turk’s representative Ravina Shamdasani expressed concern that Washington’s actions were in violation of international human rights law and called for prompt, independent, and transparent inquiries.

The attacks on the boats are a necessary step in the fight against drug cartels, which has caused divisions in the region. US President Donald Trump has argued this is a necessary step.

His increasingly violent rhetoric toward left-wing governments in Venezuela and Colombia hints at possible ulterior motives, perhaps even “regime change” in the latter.

In a significant increase in its military presence in the region, the US recently sent an aircraft carrier strike group to Latin America, which sparked rumors of an attempt to overthrow the Venezuelan government.

Shamdasani cited US explanations, but noted that nations have long concurred that the use of lethal force is subject to “careful limits” in the context of the fight against illicit drug trafficking.

She said that the only way to use lethal force unintentionally against someone who poses “an imminent threat to life” is to use it as a last resort. Otherwise, it would constitute extrajudicial killings and constitute a violation of the right to life.

According to Shamdasani, the strikes are occurring “aside from the context” of armed conflict or active hostilities.

Numerous US casualties are reported.

Pete Hegseth, the US’s secretary of defense, announced on Wednesday that the latest military operation was underway in the eastern Pacific Ocean while he claimed a boat was carrying drugs. All four passengers died, in total.

The death toll has increased to at least 61 as a result of Wednesday’s strike, which is the 14th since the campaign started in early September.

Hegseth claimed on Tuesday morning that Washington had attacked boats suspected of distributing illegal narcotics in eastern Pacific Ocean waters, killing 14 people and leaving one of the survivors.

The first time multiple strikes were announced in a single day was with the string of attacks on Monday. A survivor has also been confirmed for the second time since September 2 when the bombing campaign first commenced.

Two survivors, both of whom were repatriated to their home countries on October 16, were reportedly left by another strike.

Why UK’s Prince Andrew lost his princely title – and his stately home

Andrew’s brother, who is now a prince, has been ordered to leave his lavish residence close to Windsor Castle by King Charles III, according to a report released on Thursday by Buckingham Palace. According to observers, the Palace is finally taking action in response to allegations that Virginia Giuffre was sexually abused by the two men while she was a teenager as a result of Andrew’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein, a late sex offender.

Andrew, 65, the younger brother of King Charles and the second son of Queen Elizabeth, is increasingly being investigated for his ties to Epstein and his personal behavior. He was pressured into resigning as the Duke of York earlier this month.

“I’ve made the decision to prioritize my duty to my family and country as I always have.” Five years ago, Andrew said, “I stand by my decision to step down from public life.” He added that he “vigorously denies] the accusations” made against him.

Following years of compromise scandals, Buckingham Palace wants to draw a line. Due to his connections to Epstein, Andrew was fired from a number of royal responsibilities in 2022.

How were Andrew’s ties to Epstein exposed?

Andrew was a more well-known member of the British royal family who was renowned for his military service as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War in 1982. He was born in 1960.

However, Andrew’s private antics have plagued the royal family’s patience for years and caused embarrassing headlines. For instance, court records in 2024 revealed a suspected Chinese spy as a close friend of Andrew’s business affairs.

However, Andrew eventually had to resign from his royal duties in 2019 due to his persistent ties to Jeffrey Epstein. In 2019 as he waited to be tried on sex trafficking charges, Epstein committed suicide in a US prison.

One of the most prominent accusers of Epstein, Virginia Giuffre, filed a lawsuit against then-Prince Andrew in 2021, alleging rape and sexual abuse. She claimed that, as a minor in the United States, she was repeatedly forced to have sex with him at the age of 17.

Giuffre’s accusations have never been refuted by Prince Andrew, even saying that a now-discredited photo that appeared to show them two together was fake. He agreed to settle the lawsuit in 2022, which he received as much as $ 16 million.

Virginia Giuffre committed suicide in April of this year. She was a 41-year-old woman.

More than two months after the prince told the BBC he had ended all ties with his former associate, according to British newspapers, Andrew had emailed him in February 2011 in an email earlier that month.

Andrew told Epstein that they were “in this together” and would “have to rise above it” during a period of increased media coverage of the Epstein scandal.

Buckingham Palace’s response on Thursday was ultimately provoked by these revelations.

What has been said by Buckingham Palace?

Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor would be the King’s brother in a statement released on Thursday night.

He will no longer be referred to as “Prince” or “His Royal Highness (HRH), and his royal patronages, including dukedom, earldom, barony, and military ranks, will no longer apply.

Additionally, it was revealed that he will be evicted from his sprawling Royal Lodge, which was once the Queen Mother’s residence, close to Windsor Castle in west London.

He has been given legal protection to remain in residence as a result of his lease on Royal Lodge. He will move to another private accommodation after receiving formal notice to renounce the lease, according to the palace statement.

The statement continued, “These censures are deemed necessary… Their Majesties wish to make clear that the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse are in their thoughts and have the utmost sympathies with them,” it continued.

According to a palace source, King Charles made the decision, but he also had the support of the rest of the royal family, including Prince William, the monarchy’s heir to the throne, to lessen the risk of reputational damage.

Culture secretary Lisa Nandy also claimed that survivors of sexual abuse would receive a “powerful message” from the king’s most recent decision in a “truly brave, important, and correct step.”

On October 21, 2025, protesters from the anti-monarchy group Republic demonstrate at Windsor Great Park and Royal Lodge, where Prince Andrew lives.

Why has Royal Lodge expelled Andrew?

After The Times newspaper reported on October 21 that Andrew had not paid rent on his 30-room mansion, known as Royal Lodge, for 20 years, speculation has rifed in the British press.

According to what it was discovered, Andrew was required to pay “one peppercorn” per year for the work that was being done on the property in exchange for carrying out renovations and keeping the mansion.

A British parliamentary committee on Wednesday questioned whether Andrew should still reside in the house, which is owned by the monarch and is located 5 kilometers (3 miles) south of Windsor Castle) in a rare political move.

The BBC also made it known that Prince Andrew hosted Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced film producer convicted of rape, and Ghislaine Maxwell, one of Epstein’s associates who later served time for sex trafficking, at Royal Lodge on October 28.

Just two months after Epstein’s sexual assault conviction was cited in the United States, the three visited Andrew’s home in 2006 to celebrate his daughter’s 18th birthday.

Royal Lodge
On October 21, 2025, a drone capture captures Royal Lodge, a sprawling estate on Windsor Castle’s estate, where former British Prime Minister Prince Andrew resided.

Where will Andrew currently reside?

Andrew’s move to a private Sandringham Estate property, which will be funded by his brother, the king, is reportedly planned.

The Palace has not specified which property he will reside in, despite the fact that the larger Sandringham Estate has about 8,100 hectares (20, 000 acres) and 240 hectares (600 acres) of gardens.

Andrew’s relocation to Sandringham will be “as soon as practicable,” it is also reportedly understood.

Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife, will also leave Royal Lodge and move into her own housing arrangements. She still lives there with him.

Have other British royals previously lost their titles?

King Charles III’s removal of Prince Andrew’s royal titles is unusual in contemporary British history.

Other royals have voluntarily given up their positions, including King Edward VIII, who wed Wallis Simpson, an American woman who had previously been divorced twice, and Princess Diana, who wed Prince Harry after her divorce from King Charles.

Others have lost their privileges for political reasons, such as Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, who sided with Germany in World War I, but there hasn’t been a case where an immediate family or a reigning monarch has been stripped of their status for scandal-related reasons.
