Reynolds and McElhenney ‘don’t make football decisions’

Ryan Reynolds claims that neither he nor Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney make any “football decisions” at the Championship club.

Under the Hollywood owners of Wrexham, the club became the first team in English football’s top five divisions to win three straight promotions.

Wrexham played their first home game in the second tier of English football since May 1982, according to the American owners, who were present at the Stok Cae Ras on Saturday.

With a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion, the Red Dragons were without a Championship point after two games, so there was no Hollywood ending.

“We have to learn, learn, and tell the story,” the statement read. And that is a fantastic position for any ownership group to be in in order to truly stand by and tell the story.

We don’t make decisions about football. And in contrast to what most people in our position can, the great benefit of that is that we can have relationships with the players at Wrexham.

The Welsh club has made a significant investment in Phil Parkinson’s squad with nine summer signings thanks to Reynolds and McElhenney’s celebrity status and the award-winning Welcome to Wrexham documentary series.

This summer, Wrexham broke their transfer record three times, and Wales’ Nathan Broadhead, who left Ipswich Town for up to $ 10 million, made his debut against West Brom.

When people say, “Oh, you guys have done a pretty good job with the club,” McElhenney said, “It’s interesting to get accolades.”

We don’t really have anything to do with what happens on the pitch, according to the truth.

“We have a very specific job: to be clowns and tell the story as best we can,” he said.

“But also to be as respectful as we can of what Phil does on the pitch, what the executive team, Michael [Williamson], Shaun [Harvey], Humphrey [Ker] and everyone else does off the pitch,” “.”

Strictly Come Dancing ‘cocaine scandal’ being investigated by police in new update

Following an investigation into the popular BBC program Strictly Come Dancing before the television series premiere, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed they are looking into drug-related crimes.

Prior to the most recent series, Strictly Come Dancing was the subject of a “cocaine scandal.”

Police have said they are investigating drug allegations on Strictly Come Dancing. This weekend, it was reported that the BBC called in the cops after lawyers began an inquiry into the hit dance competition.

It followed an inquiry into the show amid claims two of its stars had used cocaine. Strictly has been marred by controversies over the past few years, with the latest coming just weeks before its return to screens.

In order to investigate recent drug allegations, the BBC hired the top legal firm Pinsent Masons earlier this month. Former participants, professional dancers, and crew members have been contacted by solicitors to discuss any possible issues.

The Metropolitan Police have now responded to the Mirror with the following statement: “On Tuesday 12 August, the Metropolitan Police received an allegation about drug-related offences.

Police are looking into the information while conducting further inquiries to determine whether a crime has been committed. At this time, we won’t be adding any more comments.

According to a source, “The BBC’s recent string of crises have now brought in the police to investigate allegations surrounding Strictly.”

“This is a very dramatic turn of events. Despite all the show and its team have been through over recent months, it’s hugely controversial that you’ve now got Scotland Yard detectives probing Strictly.

They added to The Sun: “This is their biggest prime-time family entertainment show, so it’s not a good look for the BBC.” It is believed this is the first time the BBC has been in contact with the police over allegations linked to the show.

The BBC stated that they would not comment on any police inquiries when the Mirror approached them yesterday. We have clear protocols and procedures in place to handle any serious complaint that comes up against us, according to a BBC spokesperson earlier this month. If someone has questions, we always encourage them to contact us. We shouldn’t comment on anything more.

A top legal firm was hired by the BBC earlier this month to investigate allegations of two stars using cocaine, according to reports that the show’s host’s drug use was kept a secret.

One of the allegations, according to The Sun, involves a Strictly star allegedly making a comment about another person’s dilated pupils, giving off a hint of drug use. They said, “They’re off their faces, have you seen them?”

According to reports, bosses have since offered those stars a chance to get treated. Additionally, it was claimed that upcoming tours, which are known to include after-parties, could have the option of having random drug tests added.

The BBC needs comment, according to The Mirror.

EPL: Arsenal Beat Manchester United 1-0

Arsenal’s shaky new forward line, which has been lavishly put together, drew a blank as they fought hard to win the Premier League title at Old Trafford on Sunday.

After United’s stand-in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir made a mistake, Riccardo Calafiori made the final score.

Chelsea Draw Blank In Crystal Palace Stalemate

In order to begin their Premier League campaign on Sunday against Crystal Palace, Chelsea was fortunate to escape with a 0-0 draw.

When Marc Guehi obstructing the Chelsea wall, a VAR review found him unfit for his free kick, Palace were denied an early lead.

Estevao, a new Chelsea signing, was on par with scoring a winner for the home side, but the newly-crowned world champions were brutal in their attack on a well-organized Palace defense.

Despite growing rumors that England internationals will join Liverpool and Tottenham, respectively, the Eagles’ key duo of Guehi and Eze got going.

“They will play as they are so good,” said Palace boss Oliver Glasner, as long as they are 100 percent committed.

They “weren’t just great footballers,” according to the statement “they are great people, and that’s what I expected.”

Eze believed Robert Sanchez had too much power for him to open the scoring with a blistering free-kick.

Guehi’s role in causing a gap by man-handling Moises Caicedo into the Chelsea wall was foreclosed, and the goal was not allowed.

Chelsea’s hopes of defending their first Premier League title since 2017 were heightened by their defeat of European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final last month.

However, Enzo Maresca expressed disappointment with his team’s lack of preparation since its 35-day defeat to PSG in New York.

The Italian said, “They played about eight (pre-season) games, and we only played two because we made the best of it.”

We anticipated a difficult game. We didn’t give up any chances after the first half free kick.

In his final game for Palmeiras, Estevao scored against Chelsea in the Club World Cup.

The Brazilian, who has been touted as one of the world’s brightest young talents, struggled to maintain composure when he cut high and wide from the center of the box.

With a dominant 3-1 victory over a much-changed Brentford, Nottingham Forest feigned Nuno Espirito Santo’s pre-season fears over a lack of signings.

On a dreary afternoon for new Brentford boss Keith Andrews, Chris Wood scored twice on either side of Dan Ndyoe’s debut goal for Forest.

“The first half was excellent. The combinations turned out to be excellent, beautiful goals, Nuno said.

“We are putting pressure on a good balanced squad that gives us options and solutions,” says the group’s leader.

In the off-season, the Bees lost their manager, captain, and top scorer.

Thomas Frank left to take over at Tottenham, Bryan Mbeumo signed for Manchester United, and Christian Norgaard was signed by Arsenal.

Prior to his anticipated move to Newcastle, Yoane Wissa was also missing from the Brentford squad.

The visitors only found comfort in Igor Thiago’s late penalty goal, which came from the spot.

“I do believe in this, but we must accept responsibility for a first half that wasn’t good enough,” Andrews said.

In their opening Premier League game, Chelsea lacked a goalkeeper with a combined £250 million budget when they faced Crystal Palace.

Joao Pedro, who made the initial signing for £55 million from Brighton this summer, got going right away. Jamie Gittens, a seasoned performer who left Borussia Dortmund for £52 million last month, made his debut on one flank while Pedro Neto, a seasoned £45 million player, did the opposite.

The £40 million attacking midfielder, Cole Palmer, was ranked in the back row, but Palace dominated the opening period and almost opened the scoring.

Eberechi Eze scored a 13th-minute free kick, but VAR later decided against it because Palace captain Marc Guehi was less than one meter away from the visitors’ defensive wall.

In the second half, Chelsea added two more new attacking signings: 30-year-old Ipswich striker Liam Delap and 29-year-old winger Estevao Willian, who signed from Palmeiras.

In a disappointing new year’s start, the Blues were held to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge, and they both missed important chances, as did fellow substitute Andrey Santos.

There will be ongoing scrutiny over Chelsea if they fail to build on their Summer Club World Cup success despite the fact that this was just one game and no titles are decided on the opening weekend.

Some have predicted that the Blues will challenge for the title with improved creativity and goalscoring, but they will need to do so in a 38-game campaign against champions Liverpool and opponents like Arsenal and Manchester City.

What data are gathered from this quiz?

What is stated in the data?

Chelsea will discover a worrying statistic when they examine the results of the game: they only managed three shots on target in the final 90 minutes, one less than Palace did.

However, the 1.81 expected goals (xG), which was the Blues’ highest xG figure without a league goal in 2025, will encourage them more. This is higher than Palace’s 1.07, which was superior to Palace’s 1.07.

When Chelsea last had such a number of chances without scoring away from Ipswich in December last year, they were 2-0 down.

Since the start of the 2022-23 Premier League season, 88% of teams with xGs of 1. 7 to 1. 9 have scored at least once, according to statistics.

Chelsea: Should she be concerned?

Chelsea are unlikely to be concerned at this stage.

However, they will be aware that, despite having won the Club World Cup in July and having a shortened 13-day pre-season, they will not be able to compete for the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca, the manager, said: “I don’t think so, because until the end we competed. We make an effort to win. With Estevao and Andrey Santos, I believe we had some chances in the end.

That demonstrated how likely we performed well overall in the competition. They certainly have already played seven or eight games (pre-season), I believe. And last week, we played two games, but we made an effort to share our minutes.

“So today was the real game for us,” he said. But one thing is certain: “We’re going to get better gradually.”

The arrivals of Joao Pedro, Gittens, Estevao, and Delap may require some time to settle in and rekindle a relationship with their team-mates.

With three goals in his three competitive starts for Chelsea, Joao Pedro, who had previously cut short his time away from Brazil to play in the Club World Cup, appears most prepared to hit the ground running.

With only injured midfielder Daichi Kamada out, Palace chose 10 of the same 11 players who started the FA Cup final and won against Manchester and Liverpool.

The serious injury to defender Levi Colwill, according to Maresca, is his main concern as he continues to play the team’s back-to-back games.

The Italian coach has asked for a new centre-back, but the club has instructed him to use what he has, and academy graduate Josh Acheampong received praise from Colwill’s replacement.

Maresca continued, “Today, he did very well, and he handled]Jean-Philippe] Mateta very well.” Overall, he played a good game.

If he had been available, Nicolas Jackson, a striker, would not have been selected had he been suspended after receiving a red card against Newcastle in the late season.
