Matty’s bond with Alison was a major talking point during his time on the show, with viewers constantly teasing that the pair were secretly besties. In May 2024, Matty declared, “She can’t turn back now, she can’t turn back!” In a letter to the couple, who had already tied the knot. We had the most wonderful time stumbling over our special day with our closest friends.

Matty previously acknowledged that Lara had enticed him to apply for the Bake Off and that he felt like he “wasn’t good enough” to do so.

He called himself “the official underdog” throughout the series because his nan taught him the majority of his baking techniques.

After winning, he said, “I don’t know what to say,” “Everyone said you should go on Bake Off and I thought it was a throwaway comment and never really listened to it.” I never imagined I’d win the show, let alone be on it!

Prior to joining Bake Off, Matty taught science and PE in Cambridgeshire, and he claimed his students were “impressed” when the program ran.

The students at school were a little surprised, according to the teacher, “I know they will think it’s cool that I won but will also be really surprised.”

Since then, he has switched from his “much-loved” teaching position to pursue his passions by pursuing baking instead of school.

He claimed that “Bake Off gave me the opportunity to explore a field that was so completely untapped.” “I would always look back and wonder what if I didn’t take it”?

With a baby on the way and a growing career, it’s safe to say Matty’s next chapter is already off to a good start.

Cruz Beckham and girlfriend show off boujee Glastonbury experience with luxury tents and hot tubs

A look inside the luxurious Glastonbury Festival venue that most fans don’t experience for camping is Cruz Beckham and Jackie Apostel.

While most Glastonbury goers were camping in stifling hot tents and not showering for three days, Cruz Beckham and girlfriend Jackie Apostel had a very different kind of festival experience.

Far from slumming it, 20-year-old Cruz – the youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham – and his songwriter beau, 30, revealed they stayed in a Shikar Tent at Camp Kerala, the most luxurious on site accommodation area there, that by all accounts sounds more like a five-star hotel than glamping.

With four-poster king-sized beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and duck-down duvets, the tents are equipped with air conditioning and ensuite showers stocked with luxury toiletries. In snaps Jackie shared to Instagram, it looked like breakfast in bed was also an option as Cruz was spotted tucking into a full English delivered on a tray.

In the “vanity area,” where Jackie could get glammed up every day, was posing in a full-length mirror, perfect for those last-minute festival outfit checks. A main pamper, beauty salon, luxurious loos, and showers are all within a short walk of your tents, according to the website.

And since their tent for two had “power for a bedside lamp, a plug to charge your phone or devices, and a separate plug for hairdryers and straighteners,” Cruz and Jackie didn’t need to worry that their phones’ batteries might malfunction during the festival.

Describing themselves as a ‘transformative sanctuary where extraordinary becomes your way of life’, there are onsite cocktail and champagne bars, two restaurants serving up ‘world class’ dining and a bakery and coffee area. Need a wellness fix? The spa includes hot tubs, a sauna, invigorating cold plunge pool and a state-of-the-art gym.

As part of the premium Glastonbury packages, festival makeup and outfits, spa treatments, and IV drips that provide “instant hydration, energy boost, and recovery support” are also available.

In a snap that appears to be “puppet therapy,” Jackie is seen posing with a cute puppy. As well as the 24/7 on-call staff who are available to you hand and foot, DJs and live music exclusive to Camp Kerala are included in the five-star experience.

Many camp for five nights because the majority of visitors arrive at Glastonbury on Wednesday before the music begins on Friday. And, according to estimates, a five-night stay at Camp Kerala will cost you an incredible £8,225 per person, including festival tickets.

However, that’s only a starting point for the most basic “glamp” options, which can cost more than £20,000 per person for the most luxurious package.

Cruz, who is no stranger to a lavish lifestyle with his famous parents, who are worth a reported £500 million, shared similar photos on his own Instagram feed: “Glastonbury wouldn’t have been so good without @campkerala. Jackie’s girlfriend claimed to have had “A VERY WHOLESOME GLASTO.”

One follower wrote, “Camping goals” underneath the photos! Another person said, “I feel like a genuine bed in a tent, is missing the real experience” Not much of the Glastonbury experience, in fact.

Quoting lyrics from the hit Pulp song ‘Common People’ a follower pointed out his privilege and said: “She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge.” While a fifth fan asked: “You get a freebie?”

And Cruz and Jackie, who were first spotted there as a couple in June of this year, come back to Glastonbury in full circle. When Cruz publicly wished Jackie a happy birthday on his Instagram Stories in October that year, they made a romantic declaration.

After spending Christmas and New Year together, Cruz shared multiple photos with Jackie in Brazil in January and captioned the post: ‘”So 2025 is going to be good, right?” And the couple – who have a 10-year age gap – look like they’re still going strong.

Jackie shared a number of photos of her and Cruz to commemorate their one-year anniversary in June, declaring that it had been a “good year.” Cruz continued, “One year down, plenty to go.”

China claims Canada’s order for Hikvision closure ‘damages’ trade relations

According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, Canada’s request for Hikvision to stop its local operations will “damage” bilateral trade, putting strain on previous efforts to bolster bilateral cooperation.

After Canadian Industry Minister Melanie Joly announced last week on the social media platform X that Hikvision Canada Inc. had been ordered to stop all operations because it thought their continued operation would “inflict harm” the nation’s security, Joly made the remarks on Monday.

Departments and agencies would be prohibited from using Hikvision products, according to her statement on Friday, which did not provide specifics about the alleged threat posed by them. Additionally, the government is “conducting a review of existing properties to ensure that legacy Hikvision products are not used going forward.”

China’s Commerce Ministry reacted by accusing Ottawa of “overgeneralizing national security,” saying that “China is very disappointed.”

The statement read, “This not only undermines the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, but it also tramples and damages the normal economic and trade cooperation between China and Canada,” the statement read.

China is urged to correct its unethical practices right away, it continued.

Hikvision, based in Hangzhou, is one of the top manufacturers of surveillance equipment in the world, but it has been subject to international scrutiny for its role in Beijing’s alleged human rights violations against the Uighur population’s Muslim minority.

Hikvision was listed among a 2019 blacklist of Chinese organizations that, according to the United States, were implicated in human rights violations and abuses in the Xinjiang-based government’s campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, and high-technology surveillance of Uighurs and other minority groups.

After Prime Minister Mark Carney won an election victory in April, the most recent disagreement poses a fresh set of challenges for China-Canada relations.

Beijing and Ottawa, whose relationship has been strained in recent years by a number of thorny issues, were reportedly ready to improve ties with Beijing, according to China in response to the election result.

Relations between Beijing and China sat on a deep freeze following the arrest of a senior Chinese telecom executive in Vancouver in December 2018 on a US warrant.

China’s accusations of interference in Canadian elections in 2019 and 2021, which Beijing has refuted, further strained relations.

No Relief For Southern Europe As Punishing Heatwave Persists

Italy and France prepared for several more days of a punishing heatwave that has gripped southern Europe and Britain, causing health and wildfire warnings, as Spain and Portugal both reported record temperatures on Monday.

Authorities in the nations along the Mediterranean’s northern coast have urged people to seek shelter and protect the most vulnerable during the first major heatwave of the summer.

As a record number of of France’s 96 mainland departments were placed on the second-highest “orange” heat alert, Agnes Pannier-Runacher, the country’s ecology transition minister, declared, “This is unprecedented.”

As a result of experts’ warning that such heatwaves, which have been worsened by climate change, will increase, ambulances were stationed close to tourist hotspots.

After blazes broke out Sunday in France, Turkey, and Italy, firefighters were also on standby to help.

Cities are providing various ways to stay cool, from free elderly tours to free swimming in Marseille.

Records

The national weather service reported on Monday that southern Spain’s temperatures reached a record high of 46 degrees Celsius (115 degrees Fahrenheit) on Saturday, breaking the previous record set for June.

Agathe Lacombe, a Strasbourg-based tourist who is traveling to Madrid with her children and grandchildren, called it “a little challenging.”

She told AFP, “You have to adapt your entire day’s planning, do everything in the morning, and come home at the hottest times to find some cool.”

Her daughter-in-law, Valentine Jung, said, “We didn’t anticipate it being so hot.”

We didn’t consider that when we booked, so it’s a good thing we have air conditioning in our accommodations. she stated.

Mora, Portugal, on Sunday, added a new record-breaking maximum temperature of 46.6 degrees to the country’s record-settings, according to data from the national meteorological agency.

For the second day in a row on Monday, Portugal’s capital Lisbon and seven other regions were placed on red alert, with numerous fire warnings in numerous forest areas.

In Italy, images of people fleeing into the sea at a beach resort in Baia Domizia, near Naples, were captured in local media as pinewoods burned through their backs.

We were surrounded by flames that were at least 30 meters high and smoke all over, according to Cellole Mayor Guido di Leone, who posted a Facebook post.

Peak

Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be the heatwave’s peak in France.

According to Antonio Spano, the ilmeteo’s founder, the sizzling temperatures will continue to rise until the end of the week and beyond. website for meteorology.

Milan, Verona, Rome, Perugia, and Palermo are among the 18 cities nationwide that have received red alerts over the upcoming days.

According to scientists, the effects of climate change are making hotter, hotter heat waves, particularly in cities where the “urban heat island effect” increases the temperature of densely packed buildings.

Florence and Bologna, where it has experienced “incessant highs every day for the entire week, certainly much higher than the norm,” Spano told AFP, have been particularly bad.

Spain, Portugal, and Italy have already completed the school year, which ends on Friday in France, where some summer camps are subventioned in an effort to keep kids cool.

Not typical, exactly?

The majority of Croatia’s coastline was in a red alert, and Montenegro was alerted for extreme temperatures.

And Serbia’s meteorological service, the&nbsp, warned that “a large portion” of the nation is experiencing severe and extreme drought conditions with little hope of relief.

Diego Radames, 32, a photographer for AFPTV in Madrid, claimed that the heat we’re experiencing is not typical for this time of year.

I feel like Madrid is getting hotter and hotter, especially in the city center, he continued.

Britain’s Met Office increased the number of amber heat alerts Monday to seven areas of England, including those that were starting the Wimbledon tennis tournament, as temperatures are expected to reach 34 degrees.

According to the Met Office, it is provisionally the hottest start to Wimbledon on record, with 29.7 degrees recorded at nearby Kew Gardens.

When it’s really hot outside, Wimbledon is quite sweaty. According to Londoner Sean Tipper, 31, “We were very hot last time, so we’ve got rosé in a cooler this time so we can do a better job,” Tipper said.

‘I’m a shopping writer and Abercrombie’s Wimbledon-ready co-ord is my ultimate payday pick for June’

This Wimbledon-ready Abercrombie &amp, Fitch buy is what I’d suggest adding to your basket this month if you’re feeling the urge to treat yourself now that payday has arrived.

After what seems like an eternity, payday has finally arrived, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve already spent half of your paycheck. I’m also making a pledge to shop more consciously this year and prevent buying too many things I’ll only ever wear or use once. So I’m only getting one treat (possibly two) each month.

To be able to see what’s available this month, I have to browse through the new-in sections as part of my job. For June’s payday treat, one co-ord specifically caught my attention. And it arrived just in time for Wimbledon to begin.

Abercrombie’s strawberry-print waistcoat and skort are the pair’s matching sets. The set includes the Tailored Linen-Blend Mini Skort for $ 52 and the Linen-Blend High-Neck Vest for $ 60.

This linen blend set is ideal for warmer weather, whether you’re sitting courtside at Wimbledon, having a picnic in the park, or taking a stroll through cobbled streets on vacation. The ideal fabric for the summer is linen because of its natural breathability and moisture-wicking qualities.

Michelle Keegan uses “Thinner” eyebrow serum every day to get defined brows.

Other recent additions include Abbott Lyon’s Ocean Cluster Pendant Necklace, £49, and Hannah Cooper Dommett x Warehouse’s Premium Hand Embellished Scoop Neck Mini Dress, £29. However, my wishlist for this month was topped of Abercrombie’s heatwave-perfect matching set.

The skort has built-in shorts, which makes it ideal for those who struggle with chafing thighs, especially in hot weather. Although skorts are frequently very casual and relaxed, this mini’s skirt appears much more refined and polished because the shorts are hidden.

Additionally, the waistcoat has a tie detail at the back, giving you the option of adding as much or little as you like to the silhouette.

However, I really like the adorable micro-strawberries print, which perfectly fits the Wimbledon “strawberries and cream” theme. If the print isn’t really your thing, you can also purchase the set in a trendy black and white polka dot print or plain white linen.

Serbian police remove Belgrade street blockades, more protesters arrested

Following a weekend of antigovernment demonstrations that sparked clashes with the police and sparked a pouring of months-long public outrage against the government, Serbian police have removed the barricades that protesters have set up in the capital.

A number of protesters chanted anti-government slogans and pledged to walk back to the streets on Monday as police removed metal fences and moved trash containers in Belgrade’s Zemun district.

The police stated in a statement that numerous people had been detained, but did not provide their phone number. Those who demonstrate against a populist government that they accuse of authoritarian policies are angry about their arrests.

Protesters have demanded that those accused of plotting to overthrow the government or attacking the police be immediately released.

During a visit to Spain on Monday, President Aleksandar Vucic praised the police’s actions and said, “Citizens should not worry, the state is strong enough to secure law and order.”

After the roof collapse of a train station in Novi Sad in November, 16 people died in protests led by students over the past eight months.

Although the incident occurred shortly after the station’s renovations were complete, poor construction and widespread corruption were at the center of the incident.

In one of the largest demonstrations in recent months, 140, 000 people gathered in Belgrade on Saturday to demand a quick election to overthrow Vucic’s right-wing government. Authorities have disputed the crowd’s size, saying only about 36 000 people were demonstrating.

Nearly 50 police officers and 22 protesters were hurt in clashes with the police during the protest. Batons, pepper spray, and shields were among the items that Riot police used to fire at demonstrators who threw rocks.

About 40 people are currently facing criminal charges as a result of the altercation, according to the police. At least eight university students were taken into custody by Serbian authorities as part of their plot to attack state institutions.

The prime minister resigned and the government fell after the disaster in November due to public outcry.

Vucic, who had previously announced a snap election ahead of its scheduled 2027 date, reshuffled his cabinet and created a new government.

The president claimed that protesters had been trying to “topple Serbia” but failed by using “foreign powers” to orchestrate the Saturday demonstration.

Russia, a close neighbor, expressed concern over the protests on Monday, claiming that it might be an attempt to “color revolution,” in reference to Ukraine’s 2004 Orange Revolution.

There is no denying that the Serbian leadership will be able to bring back order in the republic in the near future, it continued.
