Fans couldn’t be happier that a winner of the Great British Bake Off has put a bun in the oven.

Great British Bake Off winner Matty Edgell has announced he’s expecting his first child with wife Lara and fans couldn’t be happier.

The 2023 champ, 29, shared the adorable news on Instagram, posting a baby onesie with “born in 2025” alongside a scan and a mini blanket reading “Little WHU fan” – a sweet nod to his love for West Ham United.

He added a white heart emoji to the words, “We can’t wait to meet you.”

Fellow Bake Off stars and fans quickly flooded the comments. Alison Hammond led the well-wishes, writing: “Congratulations, how exciting.”

Matty’s bond with Alison was a major talking point during his time on the show, with viewers constantly teasing that the pair were secretly besties. One fan joked: “Alison and Matty are in love and I cannot blame them,” while another wrote: “Alison coming on to Matty is better than any dating show we’ve ever watched.”

Dan Hunter and Josh Smalley defeated in the final to become the PE teacher-turned-baking star, and he then announced his engagement to Lara.

He posed the question during an intimate moment in Sorrento, Italy, and he described it as one of his “happiest moments.”

In May 2024, Matty declared, “She can’t turn back now, she can’t turn back!” In a letter to the couple, who had already tied the knot. We had the most wonderful time stumbling over our special day with our closest friends.

Matty previously acknowledged that Lara had enticed him to apply for the Bake Off and that he felt like he “wasn’t good enough” to do so.

He called himself “the official underdog” throughout the series because his nan taught him the majority of his baking techniques.

After winning, he said, “I don’t know what to say,” “Everyone said you should go on Bake Off and I thought it was a throwaway comment and never really listened to it.” I never imagined I’d win the show, let alone be on it!

Prior to joining Bake Off, Matty taught science and PE in Cambridgeshire, and he claimed his students were “impressed” when the program ran.

The students at school were a little surprised, according to the teacher, “I know they will think it’s cool that I won but will also be really surprised.”

Since then, he has switched from his “much-loved” teaching position to pursue his passions by pursuing baking instead of school.

A look inside the luxurious Glastonbury Festival venue that most fans don’t experience for camping is Cruz Beckham and Jackie Apostel.

With four-poster king-sized beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and duck-down duvets, the tents are equipped with air conditioning and ensuite showers stocked with luxury toiletries. In snaps Jackie shared to Instagram, it looked like breakfast in bed was also an option as Cruz was spotted tucking into a full English delivered on a tray.

In the “vanity area,” where Jackie could get glammed up every day, was posing in a full-length mirror, perfect for those last-minute festival outfit checks. A main pamper, beauty salon, luxurious loos, and showers are all within a short walk of your tents, according to the website.

And since their tent for two had “power for a bedside lamp, a plug to charge your phone or devices, and a separate plug for hairdryers and straighteners,” Cruz and Jackie didn’t need to worry that their phones’ batteries might malfunction during the festival.

Describing themselves as a ‘transformative sanctuary where extraordinary becomes your way of life’, there are onsite cocktail and champagne bars, two restaurants serving up ‘world class’ dining and a bakery and coffee area. Need a wellness fix? The spa includes hot tubs, a sauna, invigorating cold plunge pool and a state-of-the-art gym.

As part of the premium Glastonbury packages, festival makeup and outfits, spa treatments, and IV drips that provide “instant hydration, energy boost, and recovery support” are also available.

In a snap that appears to be “puppet therapy,” Jackie is seen posing with a cute puppy. As well as the 24/7 on-call staff who are available to you hand and foot, DJs and live music exclusive to Camp Kerala are included in the five-star experience.

Many camp for five nights because the majority of visitors arrive at Glastonbury on Wednesday before the music begins on Friday. And, according to estimates, a five-night stay at Camp Kerala will cost you an incredible £8,225 per person, including festival tickets.

However, that’s only a starting point for the most basic “glamp” options, which can cost more than £20,000 per person for the most luxurious package.

And Cruz and Jackie, who were first spotted there as a couple in June of this year, come back to Glastonbury in full circle. When Cruz publicly wished Jackie a happy birthday on his Instagram Stories in October that year, they made a romantic declaration.

After spending Christmas and New Year together, Cruz shared multiple photos with Jackie in Brazil in January and captioned the post: ‘”So 2025 is going to be good, right?” And the couple – who have a 10-year age gap – look like they’re still going strong.

Jackie shared a number of photos of her and Cruz to commemorate their one-year anniversary in June, declaring that it had been a “good year.” Cruz continued, “One year down, plenty to go.”
