Pollock boos a sign of respect – Saints boss Dowson

Northampton Saints boss Phil Dowson hailed Henry Pollock’s big-match temperament after the England back row scored two tries in their European Champions Cup re-match with Bordeaux.

Beaten by the French club in last season’s final, Prem leaders Saints again came up short when they lost Sunday’s pool game 50-28.

Although in only his second full season as a senior player, Pollock has already earned a love-hate relationship with fans in France.

“For someone of his age to be dealing with that sort of pressure from a really partisan French crowd is impressive,” Dowson told BBC Radio Northampton.

“It speaks volumes about him, and the group supporting him, and about how we want to be, playing in these cauldrons and enjoying it.

Northampton had to make two late changes before the game with England fly-half Fin Smith unable to play because of a calf injury – Anthony Belleau took his place despite a serious mouth injury suffered against Harlequins the previous weekend – and a hamstring problem sidelined James Ramm.

They also had prop Danilo Fischetti and centre Rory Hutchinson sin-binned in the first half and there was no way back from a 24-7 deficit at the interval, despite running in four tries of their own – two of them from Pollock, who was also booed in their opening pool game at Pau.

“We spent 20 minutes of the first half down to 14 men and that makes it very, very difficult, particularly with the quality they have,” said Dowson.

“That was a tough start and the set-piece was clearly under some pressure. But we want to be at the top table, we want to be challenged by these teams because that’s where we’re going to learn the most and we’ll take tons out of that.”

Northampton had won their five previous games in all competitions, but conceded eight tries, including hat-tricks for Salesi Rayasi and Cameron Woki.

They are, however, certain of a place in the knockout stage of the competition because of the bonus point earned in Bordeaux.

“It’s hard to draw conclusions immediately, other than to say we weren’t quite at it in certain areas, and against very good sides, that’s what happens (sometimes).

“That [Fischetti sin-binning] obviously gave them a foothold but that’s not necessarily the whole game, there were lots of times they counter-attacked off turnover ball and bits and pieces like that – I don’t think that’s the whole story, obviously it’s disappointing in the first 10-15 minutes – but credit to the scrum to rectify that and get us onto a solid footing at set-pieces,” Dowson added.

Northampton are third in pool four and round off the Champions Cup group stage at home to Scarlets, who have lost all three games so far, on Sunday (15:15 GMT).

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet Golden Globes row caught out by lip reader

Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor at the Golden Globes but appeared to barely notice girlfriend Kylie Jenner, and now a lipreader has claimed to unpick what was said at the table

A lipreaders claims to have deciphered the words exchanged by Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet during a ‘secret fight’ at the Golden Globes.

Timothee dominated at the awards, taking home the Best Actor in a Comedy Film or Musical trophy for his performance in Marty Supreme – but seemed to hardly acknowledge his long-term partner during his acceptance moment. Tense moments were caught on camera, as suggestions of a row swirl.

The pair have been romantically linked for almost three years and are typically known for their public displays of affection; however, the atmosphere was rather different when the duo attended the prestigious ceremony. The there was a clear absence of such intimacy at the awards – with Timothée appearing to almost overlook her presence as he made his way to the stage and when he was on it.

Lipreader Nicola Hickling has broken down what she beleives was said between the pair. afterwards. She says the actor first leaned in towards Kylie and whispered “You must hate me.” She smiled, and, according to the Daily Mail, replied “Yes.” Then, Timothée asks her: “Were you worried?”

The expert claims she replied: “It was a bold yes.” He then responds: “You look bothered” as he moves to take his seat at the plush event. Ms Hickling then claims the Kylie told her boyfriend” “Not here” before she went on to tell him: “You’re annoying.”

Seemingly sidestepping a kiss as he greeted various individuals at their table before making his way to the podium, Timothé continued this distant approach during his acceptance remarks. While expressing gratitude to numerous people in his life upon receiving the honor, he only gave her a fleeting mention at the tail end of his speech.

Wrapping up his remarks abruptly, Chalamet declared, “To my parents and partner, I love you. Thank you so much.”

This represented a significantly more subdued recognition of Kylie compared to his expression at the Critics’ Choice Awards just one week prior, where he had publicly declared his affection for her.

This also followed what appeared to be a deliberate snub on the red carpet – as he arrived by himself at the ceremony, with his girlfriend only materializing next to him in a shimmering, golden dress once they had settled into their seats at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

Kylie’s absence from the red carpet walkthrough raised eyebrows, particularly given the adoring remarks Chalamet had made about her and her stunning outfit.

“After love-bombing Kylie at the Critic’s Choice awards, Timothee decided to walk the red carpet at the Golden Globes alone, despite the fact that Kylie was in her most extreme Hollywood look to date, dressed as what looked like an homage to the Oscar statue, perhaps in anticipation a win for Timothee in 2026,” body language expert Judi James told The Daily Mail.

Judi further suggested that this apparent “snub” might have been “hurtful” to Jenner, despite his seemingly “relaxed” demeanor.

“The line will probably be that he didn’t want any distractions, but with many other top stars happily posing up with their other-halves and with Kylie looking especially red carpet-ready, it might have appeared rather hurtful to not pose with her now that they would appear to be officially ‘in love’ and went to great pains to show it to the camera at last week’s awards.”

Malaysia blocks Grok amid uproar over nonconsensual sexualised images

Malaysia has blocked access to Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence model Grok amid a global uproar over the chatbot’s ability to create sexually explicit images of people without their consent.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said on Sunday it had temporarily banned Grok after ordering the chatbot’s developer xAI and the social media platform X to introduce safeguards to ensure compliance with the law.

In response to regulatory notices issued last week, X “focused primarily on the user-initiated reporting mechanisms and failed to address the inherent risks that arise from the design and operation of the AI tool”, the MCMC said in a statement.

“MCMC considers this insufficient to prevent harm or ensure legal compliance.”

The Malaysian watchdog’s announcement came a day after Indonesia became the world’s first country to formally ban the chatbot, which is offered as both a standalone platform and an in-built feature on X.

Grok has been mired in controversy in recent days over the use of its image-generation tool to depict real people in minimal clothing and sexualised poses without their consent.

The spread of the sexualised deepfakes, some of them including minors, has prompted condemnation and calls to action from officials in numerous countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Australia.

xAI initially responded to a request for comment from Al Jazeera with an automated response saying: “Legacy Media Lies.”

A spokesperson later directed Al Jazeera to an earlier statement by X, which said the platform takes action against illegal content, including child sexual abuse material.

“Anyone using or prompting Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content,” the statement said.

Grok last week began limiting the use of its image-generation tool on X to paid subscribers in an apparent bid to quell the controversy.
