Hull FC (18) 24

With a victory over struggling Castleford, Hull FC continued their impressive Super League season-opening run.

Rowan Milnes leveled the scores before Herman Ese’ese barged over the line to give the away side the lead.

The Black and Whites were 18-6 up at the break when Aidan Sezer crossed the posts and dotted down Tom Briscoe in the corner.

Lewis Martin went over on the resultant play after Innes Senior was sin-binned for the Tigers for a high tackle on Cade Cust, who was unable to play on.

Before Josh Simm touched down for the Tigers to finish the scoring, Sezer kicked a penalty to extend the hosts’ advantage before former Hull FC player Tex Hoy scored a strong individual goal.

In addition to being unbeaten across-city rivals Hull KR, Hull FC are now winners of four of their six Super League games.

Cas, on the other hand, have lost five of their first ten league games.

Before the break, Briscoe’s try was immediately turned on.

When replays suggested there was no foul play, home skipper Sam Wood chose not to use his captain’s challenge at the play-the-ball, which was immediately followed by an infringement by Daniel Okoro at the Hull FC try-line. Moments later, the away side increased their lead from six to twelve points.

Despite three Cas defenders’ best efforts to put John Cartwright’s men in front, Ese ‘ese completed his new three-year contract with a strong finish just before kick-off.

The home side, who have only defeated beleaguered Salford once this year, had a strong start to the game, but Milnes equaled when the ball was quickly moved through hands.

Sezer scored his first try of the season on Briscoe’s line-break before the veteran capitalized on Cust’s cut-out pass moments just after Okoro’s perceived error.

After Senior tackled Cust, the Australian will now have to miss next week’s Challenge Cup quarter-final with rivals Hull KR. Cust’s evening was over shortly after the break due to a head injury.

Sezer kicked a penalty to give them a commanding lead before hooker Amir Burough was sent to the sin-bin for a risky tackle, and Martin’s 11th try extended their lead overall.

The home side’s fans were given a reason to cheer up by late scores from Hoy and Simm, but the game was already out of reach with Hull FC’s focus turning to the big derby the following week.

Tigers are “not prepared to do the tough stuff.”

Danny McGuire, the head coach of the Castleford Tigers, told BBC Radio Leeds:

“I didn’t think it was a great game, and I thought we were generally poor.” When you feel motivated in the seventh minute, I believe it to be a bit of a cop out.

We are currently unable to perform the necessary tasks.

“We need to do some things that we can’t stop.” Some harsh words must be used by us. Week after week, some players continue to make the same errors. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait until the end of the year.

We begin well, but as soon as we tire and put on pressure, we give in. We lack strength. The players are concerned and exerting their best efforts, but we struggle when under pressure.

John Cartwright, the head coach of Hull FC, told BBC Radio Humberside:

With injuries from the most recent game and an enormous game coming up next weekend, I was a little worried before the start of the game. I believed we managed to arrive here, get a job, and then worry about the following week, which we did, in some ways.

“Toward the end, it turned into a bit of a slogfest, but we came here to get a win on the board, and we did that.”

The final two tries disappointed me, they said.

“The toll is starting to increase injury-wise. We’d like to do a run so that we can start the game and finish it on time.

(On Ese’ese’s extension of his contract) “I think he’s the Super League’s current top front-rower. He’s a good companion for the team, attends training regularly, and plays a lot of games.

Hoy, Simm, Cini, Wood, Senior, Milnes, Lawler, Rimbu, Singleton, Hodson, Mellor, Westerman, and other names for Castleford.

Robb, Mustapha, Okoro, and Griffin swap.

Rapana, Briscoe, Litten, Chamberlain, Martin, Cust, Sezer, Ese ‘ese, Bourouh, Knight, Fash, Lane, Asiata, and others.

Ashworth, Eseh, Kirby, and Moy swaps.

Donovan granted rematch with Crocker by IBF

Inpho

Following their contentious disqualification earlier this month in Belfast, Paddy Donovan was given a chance to face Lewis Crocker again.

Because Donovan hit Crocker after the bell, referee Marcus McDonnell called a thrilling welterweight fight to end it.

Prior to rounds six and eight, Limerick fighter Donovan had his elbow and head used for points.

After the dramatic end of a fight that he appeared to have been edged out before the frantic finish, the 26-year-old was clearly distraught in the ring.

Before realizing that McDonnell had disqualified him for his first professional defeat, Donovan initially believed he had won.

I’m pleased with the outcome of the appeal.

The decision was welcomed by Donovan’s co-manager Andy Lee, who praised the decision, saying: “I’m very happy that the IBF accepted my arguments and evidence, and they made the right choice under the rules.

The rematch will surpass the first fight in size. The atmosphere in the arena was incredible, and both locals and international fans adored it.

“It was a fantastic promotion put on by Matchroom, and it’s unfortunate that it ended,” Paddy said. “Now that things are settled, Paddy will set the record straight and continue his quest for a world title.”

Donovan expressed his pride in the support Keith and Andy gave him throughout the process.

“It’s great to have a great team around me.” The outcome of the appeal is satisfactory to me. I’m eager to return to the ring to show off my fighting skills once more and advance to the title game.

Millie Mackintosh left needing surgery after suffering nasty injury at home

After sharing her three-year-old daughter Aurelia’s unintentionally broken nose, Millie Mackintosh posted photos of her bandaged nose on Instagram.

Millie Mackintosh has revealed she’s undergone surgery after her three-year-old daughter Aurelia accidentally broke her nose. The 35-year-old former Made In Chelsea star took to Instagram to show her nose covered in bandages after the mishap at home.

Apologising to her 1.3 million followers for being quiet lately, the mum-of-two – who also shares daughter Sienna, five, with husband Hugo Taylor – explained what happened and wrote: “If I’ve been quiet on here recently, there’s a reason why…

My nose was accidentally fracturing by Aurelia three weeks ago! When she threw her head back at me while I was holding her, her skull struck me in the middle of my nose. I discovered a crack after going to check it, and I had to have surgery to correct it by the end of last week. Has another parent ever experienced this? You kind of have to laugh, though, but parenting is a serious low.

However, Millie’s daughter Sienna’s playing up and recent events appeared to have caused her to panic, which she claimed she hadn’t experienced in months and assumed she had them under control.

Millie’s post continued, “Sienna is almost five and has been having enormous meltdowns and violent tantrums,” revealing what life has been like lately. She seems to be moving along with us as we’ve been establishing new boundaries at home and providing support as she adjusts. She believed she had all the power, and it just wasn’t a good dynamic, and I realized I wasn’t being firm enough.

She then explained how her own health was struggling, saying, “I hadn’t had one in a while, but I had a panic attack this week.” For about three hours, it kept coming in waves like I was going to pass out.

I was aware of what it was, which is the difference. I kindly addressed myself, absorbed the discomfort, and applied ice to my neck, which was very helpful. This would have destroyed my entire day, or even my week, a year ago. I can see how far I’ve come.

“Lately I’ve been worrying about my social media — is anyone seeing this? Is it good enough? Lots of comparison and self-doubt creeping in. I’d love your feedback — what do you want to see more of on my page?“And Aurelia is in a real tricky phase. Everything’s wrong — clothes are too itchy, the bath is too bubbly, pasta is too wobbly, her smoothie isn’t pink enough… You get the picture. Most nights I end up in her bed to get her back to sleep and fall asleep there too. I love the cuddles, but I miss sleeping through the night!”

Fans responded with support in the comments below, some expressing their own unintended injuries to their children. One person wrote, “Yes, my daughter, when she accidentally scratched my eyeball while grabbing at my face, and ripped off the top layers. I had the feeling that I was going to pass away because of how much pain I was getting.

One person expressed “so much love Millie and bravo for the honesty. This is always appreciated by us mothers. “Ah, I’m sorry, sending you love,” a third person said. My two-year-old threw her head back and I believed her eye socket had broken. It immediately went black and was extremely painful. I sobbed because it hurt so much. While a fifth added, “Parenting is not always simple, xxx, but I’m glad you’re okay.”

Judge orders Trump administration to preserve Signal texts on Houthi attack

A federal judge has made it official that the US government must keep the messages from a Signal conversation where top officials discussed plans to bomb Yemeni targets.

The accidental inclusion of a journalist from The Atlantic magazine in the discussion, which revealed sensitive military information, has since caused a national controversy.

Judge James Boasberg ruled on Thursday that the administration of President Donald Trump must follow all steps to maintain complete access to the conversation’s transcript between March 11 and March 15.

Concerns that the messages might be deleted, which would violate the federal records act, led to the judge’s decision.

The original messages, which were ultimately published this week in The Atlantic, were ultimately removed thanks to a temporary restraining order from a nonprofit organization called American Oversight.

The messages should be made known, according to the group. Additionally, The Atlantic pointed out that some Signal messages were scheduled to be deleted automatically, while others were scheduled to be within four weeks.

In a court filing, American Oversight’s attorneys wrote that this is “nothing less than a systematic attempt to evade the federal government’s rules for record retention.” There is no justification for this behavior, which prevents the public and Congress from seeing government actions.

The Federal Records Act of 1950, which establishes a model for government transparency, serves as the foundation for the nonprofit’s argument.

The law includes updated guidelines for preserving and releasing government documents as well as updated guidelines for preserving and releasing electronic documents.

However, according to American Oversight, the Trump administration may be using Signal, a messaging app with end-to-end encryption, to circumvent the law.

According to its court filing, “Defendants’ use of a non-classified commercial application even for such life-and-death matters as planning a military operation leads to the inevitable conclusion that defendants had to have used Signal to conduct other official government business.”

Judge Boasberg was given assurances from a Trump administration representative that the necessary steps had already been taken to gather and preserve any uncollected messages.

The Atlantic published the first of a number of articles on the subject from editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg on Monday, revealing Signal’s role in high-secret exchanges.

The journalist explained that he was invited to join a conversation on the app by a person who appeared to be Mike Waltz, the journalist.

When Goldberg accepted the invitation, he was greeted by some of the country’s highest-ranking officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance.

When, on March 15, the bombings that were revealed in the conversation occurred in real life, Goldberg claimed that he realized the conversation was genuine and not just an elaborate scheme.

In his opening article, Goldberg wrote, “I have never seen a breach quite this.” National security officials communicate via Signal frequently. However, the app is only used for planning meetings and other logistical issues, not for in-depth and highly private discussions of pending military action.

The Trump administration disputed that any private information had been made available during the discussion.

However, Goldberg responded with a second article that detailed the launch dates for the F-18 planes carrying the missiles as well as the bombing campaign’s timings.

At a Wednesday event, Trump said, “Look, look, it’s all a witch-hunt.” He has rejected requests for an apology or to dismiss Waltz and Hegseth. He also attributed Signal’s “could be defective” to the app.

On Thursday, Judge Boasberg’s decision to stop any destruction of the messages was praised by Chioma Chukwu, the interim executive director of American Oversight.

We applaud the bench’s decision by the judge to stop any more destruction of these significant records. The public is entitled to information on how war and national security are decided, and accountability doesn’t end with a message being automatically deleted, Chukwu said in a statement.

Dame Esther Rantzen ‘not responding to medication’ says daughter in heartbreaking update

Rebecca Wilcox, the daughter of Dame Esther Rantzen, has shared a heartbreaking health update about her mother, who was receiving new medication to help her.

Dame Esther Rantzen is no longer responding to her medication, her daughter revealed. The veteran broadcaster, campaigner and journalist is battling terminal lung cancer. Initially, Dame Esther found a lump under her armpit after feeling tired over the Christmas period in December 2022. Just weeks later, a biopsy confirmed she had stage four cancer.

Since her diagnosis, Dame Esther, 84, has spoken openly about the Assisted Dying Bill, which is currently being debated by Parliament. However, the law could take several years to be implemented due to additional safeguarding being put in place as the bill continues to go through the MPs. Meanwhile, Dame Esther has even shared her views on dying at Dignitas, due to assisted dying currently being illegal in the United Kingdom.

However, Dame Esther is aware that her family might suffer repercussions if she did visit Switzerland. If I go, my family might face charges, she previously said.

Rebecca Wilcox, Dame Esther’s daughter, recently shared a heartbreaking health update in a new interview. When Dame Esther was questioned about a new medication that was initially thought to be able to improve her condition, Rebecca explained that this was untrue. She continued, “I really wish that was true,” adding, “I don’t believe that’s the case any longer,” she told 5 News.

Rebecca has previously spoken about the heart-wrenching possibility of facing prosecution for accompanying her mother, to the assisted dying clinic in Switzerland.

Rebecca recalled her mother’s words in a personal interview with Hello!: “My mother said that she lost her mother, her husband, and her dog within a very short time, and that the dog had the most wonderful death, while the others didn’t.”

In response to the grim reality, Rebecca expressed hope that the trip to Dignitas won’t be imminent, but she also acknowledged the legal ramifications: “We’re just hoping that flight to Dignitas won’t have to happen any time soon. I’m not sure if I would choose to go with her because it would be so difficult to defend myself from a possible charge of infidelity.

She continued, “But letting her go alone would be a very strange version of me.”

In December, TV presenter Angela Rippon, a close friend of Dame Esther, also revealed that Dame Esther felt “relieved” when her assisted dying bill received support from Parliament.

By 330 votes to 275, the proposal to end a terminally ill person’s life was defeated. Dame Esther, who has lung cancer, revealed last year that she had joined Dignitas, a Swiss assisted dying facility.

Angela, 80, and Esther, both of whom have been friends for more than 30 years, still speak on the phone frequently. Angela praised her as “an amazing person.” She has used her platform to effect change throughout her entire life. She has done everything, including Silver Line, Childline, and many others. She has now used that influence and power that she has because it is so deeply personal to her. She has once more done it.

She is thrilled about what transpired, I believe. She seems happy and relieved, in my opinion. Dame Esther, who has terminal cancer, has expressed her desire to end her life when her quality of life declines. The bill was introduced as a result of her tireless campaigning on the subject.

Angela continued, “Esther has made a big impact, but she has always had her life,” at the Television and Radio Club Christmas lunch. She has lived her entire life and has been a source of inspiration for many people.

And I believe she values this very highly. The wonderful thing about Esther is that when she starts a campaign, she finds that thousands of people will support her and join her.

And I think that every single thing she has done, whether it was for Leadbeater, Silverline, or now, is one of those instances where she has played a significant role in a campaign, and I think that’s absolutely brilliant.

Premier League Alters Transfer Window To Accommodate Club World Cup

This summer, Manchester City and Chelsea will have two transfer windows in the Premier League to allow them to sign players for the Club World Cup.

In a special window between June 1 and June 10, clubs in the English top flight will now be able to hire and retain players.

Any national association with teams competing in the new expanded Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on June 14, is eligible to register for the exceptional registration period that was approved by FIFA in October.

With a $1 billion prize pot on offer to the 32 teams competing, the winners of the competition could win up to $125 million in prize money.

Due to winning the Champions League in 2021 and 2023, respectively, Chelsea and City are England’s two representatives.
