Olympian Sally Gunnell warns of ‘silent killer’ as athletic friend suddenly died

Sally Gunnell, the OBE, has opened up about a friend’s sudden death. Despite not having any prior symptoms, the Olympic gold medalist was suddenly hit by a “massive heart attack.”

The 61-year-old had a lifelong love of sports, always working out in the gym and cycling, while keeping his alcohol intake to a minimum. However, his arteries were blocked by a small piece of plaque, which caused him to pass away instantly.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, Sally said, “He died just instantly, and that was it.” Nothing was there. No admonition. He probably had left his bike a few days earlier.

Sally continued, “He was an athlete for many years, had always maintained his health and fitness, but I guess you don’t know how much stress they go through and what else is happening in their lives.”

(Dave Benett/Getty Images for Emi) Sally and her husband, John, have always led active lifestyles.

“But you know, he was always working out, staying in shape, never drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, really. And I believe it was merely a shock, I suppose.

The tragic fact that, according to British Heart Foundation statistics, heart attacks continue to be the leading cause of death globally for both men and women, underscores the grim reality.

One heart attack occurs every five minutes in the UK, equaling roughly one hundred and one thousand per year. Around 20% to 60% of cases, according to the Cleveland Clinic, are completely ” silent “, describing often painless events without any prior symptoms.

Sally and her husband, John, were completely moved by their friend’s passing because their lifestyles mirrored one another’s. In light of this, Bluecrest Wellness and they made the decision to have a health checkup. Blood tests, an ECG, and other assessments were included in this time, which spanned 30 to 45 minutes.

Sally’s iron levels were a little low, but her “metabolic age” was 42, which is an impressive 15 years younger than her actual age of 57. However, the picture didn’t quite work out for John because of early signs of plaque buildup and high cholesterol.

Their friend’s symptom before his fatal heart attack was plaque buildup, which was particularly alarming. Sally continued, “I think John was a little in denial because we both know and love to exercise, and we both do so.

He said, “Oh, I’m not going to do anything that’s fine, we’ll just carry on,” which is a “kind of] scenario where I panicked and said, “Well, hang on a minute, I can’t just ignore this.”

According to tests, Sally’s “metabolic age” was 42 years, which is an impressive 15 years younger than her actual 57 (Daily Mirror).

The pair has collaborated to alter their outcomes now that they have moved forward. Sally had to reduce her red meat intake to combat those high iron levels.

In the meantime, John is taking statins to lower his low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and the pair continue to exercise less strenuously called “Zone Two.” In the upcoming months, they will need a second checkup.

“It’s very simple to bury your head, and I sometimes feel like, “Do I really want to know?” Sally responded. “And of course, we do really because, as you know, I’ve always said, I’d rather prevent things if we leave it too late,” he said. Before it’s too late, I’d prefer to make changes in my life.

Sally, 58, continued, “When you hear about Davina [McCall] and Sir Chris Hoy uncovering these terrible health conditions, it really brings out the value of facing up to it, knowing your numbers, and understanding your risks, without being scared.”

‘Stellar England turn Cardiff cauldron into funhouse’

You initially believed you knew what you were getting at the Principality Stadium for about 15 minutes.

A scrum broke open. Nicky Smith was shoved by Tom Curry. Curry was shoved by Aaron Wainwright. Wainwright was shoved by Ollie Chessum.

Finally, a happy Dafydd Jenkins grabbed a fistful of Chessum’s shirt and drew it up over the England lock’s mouth like a parent nibbling at a youngster’s grubby face.

Tit-for-tat, toe-to-toe, close quarters, and tight margins are what.

Wales were 14 points clear, but their chins were still up despite a Blair Murray try that had been ruled out. They resisted. They had defeated Ireland and Scotland by comparable margins, and they had resurrected the conflict.

It is always close when it comes to England, the antagonists who have historically and historically fought off the most.

The Principality-Wales’ wins of the previous 11 Six Nations meetings in 2013 and 2021 were the only times the two teams had more than 10 points separated.

It appeared to be a contest. like it has always done.

Just before the break, three tries were made in six minutes.

England led 33-7 going down the tunnel thanks to 19 unanswered points from Tommy Freeman, Chandler Cunningham-South, and Will Stuart.

The contest was over. However, the destruction had only just begun.

The life flowed out of Cardiff’s sporting cathedral as England beat Wales to a pulp in the second half.

Daffodils wilted, and decibels fell to the cricket crowd’s hushed, quiet noise.

That was irrelevant for England.

They have experienced excruciating pain on their own turf following a string of subpar defeats last fall at Twickenham.

They exorcised those ghosts, scheming away with gainline dominance and ambition from the back and the front.

It was clearly stated by the numbers.

England have scored 68 points against Wales, surpassing the 62 they ran in during the 2007 Rugby World Cup warm-up, which was the highest total they have ever scored.

The tournament’s Five and Home Nations incarnations also had a record-breaking 54-point victory margin, the largest any team ever managed to defeat Wales in a history that dates back to 1883.

New standards were established by a large group of novices.

On his first Test start, Tom Roebuck excelled. He was strong in contact, strong in the air, and strong in the tackle.

In his 11th cap, his Sale team-mate, Ben Curry, was a dervish, winning both turnovers and collisions.

Fin Smith owns the shirt, which is titled “10. For two late goals, Henry Pollock surpassed the hype and soared past deflated Welsh defenders.

The names of well-known celebrities also boosted their Lions’ credentials.

Tommy Freeman, who had been shifted off the wing, thundered around in midfield with great effect. Some feared that Ellis Genge’s heavy-duty carrying had fallen out of favor.

The English manager was content more than happy.

Head coach Steve Borthwick remarked, “I wanted the players to play big and fast and aggressive with the ball, and that’s exactly what they did.”

That indicates that this young team is accepting challenges and growing quickly.

The team has continued to work toward those goals even though we were just falling short of them.

England looked good under the influence of this Wales team, which is a shadowy replica of the giants of the past. However, Borthwick’s campaign, which reportedly featured four victories from five games, is not particularly lean toward criticism.

England undoubtedly had some luck at times.

They frequently turned to the boot, failing to show some dimension at others.

However, a summer tour to Argentina and the United States offers a great opportunity to build up some momentum and develop players and tactics because of the Lions’ absence of tourists, which will open up more room for young people.

England were briefly scheduled to turn in for a victory lap after the Principality was taken.

It appeared as though France might win the Six Nations trophy with Scotland still three points clear at half-time in Paris after scoring a try on the final play before the break.

In front of the television cameras, a replica of the Wales stadium was waiting in the bowels of the stadium.

Les Bleus ended up fleeing the Stade de France and taking the England bus into town, where he had instead chosen to host a more intimate city-centre celebration.

More than six months will pass before England’s full-strength reunion is complete.

Other notables: -5 S Scheffler (US), -4 T Fleetwood (Eng), and -4 R MacIntyre (Sco).

In blustery conditions during round three of The Players Championship, Rory McIlroy lost four shots off the lead after a punishing back nine.

The 2019 champion carded a one-over 73 to take JJ Spaun, an unheralded American, one-under, one-shot ahead of tour veteran Bud Cauley.

At Sawgrass’ renowned Stadium Course, McIlroy was at 10 under after nine holes, but he struggled on the second nine, dropping shots on the 12th, 13th, and 17th holes and missing a par-five 16th for a presentable birdie chance.

However, he birdied the final birdie to avoid the 18th green, which attracted obscene fans’ roars.

McIlroy remarked, “It seemed like I played better than I scored.” “I left a lot out there, but I’m not too far away either.”

Spaun did a remarkable par putt on the final hole when he appeared to be faltering after bogeying the 17th, which he did throughout his round.

Seven players were once within a one-shot of winning, but the gusting winds made it difficult to score.

With a six-under-par 66 to reach 11 under, Cauley was one of the few to make a significant upward turn.

Lucas Glover, the 2009 US Open champion, chipped in three times during a 71-round rollercoaster, two shots ahead of him. His final chip-in was for an eagle on the par-five 16th, but his final score was sandwiched between double bogeys on the 15th and 17th, both of which had found water off the tee on the notoriously challenging “island hole.”

On eight under, overnight joint leader Akshay Bhatia and McIlroy are both putting in a strong two-over 74, keeping him in contention going into Sunday. After scoring a 66 much earlier in the day, Canada’s Corey Conners is also listed on that list.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was uncharacteristically irritable as he rounded off his round of 72 at five under. After making a three-putt bogey on the 17th, he threw his ball into the water, and he furiously chucked his golf club after making a third error.

Scheffler will need a remarkable round to win the TPC Sawgrass for the third consecutive time because play has already been moved forward on Sunday to avoid forecast storms.

The later starters were hampered by the strengthening winds around TPC Sawgrass after the first two days of pleasant weather.

However, it was obvious that Spaun had control and resilience in the chaos, particularly when he played alongside McIlroy. He had a slight lead early on, which he shared with others at times but never relinquished, thanks to accidents on the second and third holes.

He nearly grabbed a 40-foot eagle at the ninth hole and avoided a testy back nine with just two blemishes at the 15th and 17th holes before rolling in his lengthy par putt on the final to maintain the lead.

Three years ago, the Californian won the only tournament on the PGA Tour, finishing in a tie for third at the Sony Open, which gave him a one-shot lead going into Sunday.

McIlroy struggled throughout, hitting only five fairways from the tee, and his short game deserted him, leaving chips short and failing to drop par putts. Since 2013, he has been 56 under par for the back nine at TPC Sawgrass.

He was not at ease.

Overnight leader Min Woo Lee was the first to fall, but his errant fifth-round bogey resulted in a double bogey and he never recovered, shooting a six-over 78.

Collin Morikawa, a two-time major champion, shot another high in a pricey round of 76, leaving him eight shots back and likely out of contention.

Will Zalatoris, a fellow American, performed superb on the front nine, held onto a lead for a while before completely unraveling on the way home and falling from 11 under par to two under.

Bob MacIntyre of Scotland is at five under par after a 72, while Tommy Fleetwood of England, who had looked strong through the first 13 holes, dropped four shots over his final five to finish at four under par.

‘Scotland bum cheek away from converting’ in Paris

Head coach Gregor Townsend claims that as they came to an end to their Six Nations campaign, Scotland were “a bum cheek away from converting.”

The Scots lost 35-16 to their hosts in Paris, who finished the tournament fourth, while England won the title.

Scotland forced their rivals to make over 200 tackles on nine occasions, but Darcy Graham managed just one try.

Townsend regretted his team’s success, with Tom Jordan’s late goal late in the first half ruled out because Blair Kinghorn had been proned into touch earlier.

Finn Russell’s off-load came to a stop and Louis Bielle-Biarrey completed an 80-meter French breakaway shortly after the break.

Townsend, who chose to only send Peato Mauvaka a yellow card for a headbutt on Ben White, continued, “We didn’t get the breaks.”

They scored just before half-time thanks to a mistake and a disallowed try, and we had bad luck before half-time.

When Blair was at his best, we were a bum cheek away from winning the first half. You need to be patient and accurate, which was lacking.

Scotland’s campaign began with a frantic home victory over Italy before being completely overshadowed by Ireland a week later.

At Twickenham, they dominated England for a long period of time, but their poor finishing and poor goal-kicking prevented them from winning the Calcutta Cup for the fifth time.

They fought off Wales last weekend in a 20-point lead before coming home with a single score after going out of their way in the second half.

When Townsend inquired as to whether Scotland should have a higher ranking, Townsend replied, “No, we will finish where we don’t win when we have a lot of the game.”

“It’s a very competitive competition. No one has won a Grand Slam, and teams can’t play well in every game.

Jacqueline Jossa looked heartbroken just hours before Dan Osborne split bombshell

Just hours before it became known that the couple had split after eight years of marriage, Jacqueline Jossa appeared heartbroken in a recent photo.

According to reports, Dan Osborne’s ex-wife has moved out and lives nearby, while Jacqueline, 32, has stayed in their family home with their children. Dan is alleged to have packed his belongings just last week, just one week after the couple was reportedly “shocked” by rumor that he had split. The couple, who have previously been the subject of rumors about their relationship, denied their split in January of this year.

The mother of two posted a number of snaps on Instagram that made her look hopeless. The EastEnders actress wore a black and white stripped short sleeve top with light blue jeans as she captured the action from “Sunday.” Although she had makeup on, her expression was unfavorable.

Just before the split bombshell, Jac took to Instagram to post selfies.

Over the years, the relationship between Jacqueline and Dan has experienced many ups and downs. The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, have drawn rumors, speculation, and public scrutiny. The couple is said to have split after eight years of marriage despite making an effort to resolve their disagreements.

Jacqueline, 32, was seen without her engagement ring earlier this year, raising questions about the troubled relationship between her and 33-year-old Dan. Jacqueline appeared hopeless at their local gym after the EastEnders actress and the former TOWIE star arrived separately. Her missing wedding ring only served to increase rumors that the couple had broken up.

In a statement, Jacqueline and Dan stated that they are handling their affairs privately and have chosen to keep their lives and relationships private. They kindly request privacy and respect as they navigate this together, it added. Their children are always in charge, surrounded by both parents’ love and care, a quality that will never improve. Above all, Jacqueline and Dan are concerned about the best interests of their children. There won’t be any more comments.

According to a source close to the couple, Jacqueline and Dan are taking a break and not communicating with one another. They have made this difficult decision because it hasn’t been easy for them lately. They added that although neither Jac nor Dan are certain of what will come next, their break was “need.”

In an interview with The Sun last month, Jacqueline revealed that the pair are still together and have only recently been reassessing their assets in spite of the split rumors that were spreading. She said, “People seem to believe they are more knowledgeable about my life than I am.”

They were saying, “Jacqueline didn’t spend Christmas with Daniel. All I need to do is post pictures of us wearing Christmas hats together. We read and laugh along with each other while we are lying in bed next to each other.

She continued, noting that the speculation about their relationship is “ridiculous,” but that it comes with being in the public eye.

I haven’t put myself out there in that space, though, aside from returning to EastEnders. Dan and I haven’t both recently produced any reality TV shows. “I read about Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright and thought, “Really? Is that accurate? But I can assure them that they are content. What other people think or want to read is not my business.
