When she was 34, Katie embarked on a passionate relationship with Argentinian hunk, Leandro Penna, now 39, after meeting at one of Elton John’s parties.

They ended up getting engaged before calling it quits soon after, with Leandro claiming Katie ‘drove him insane.’ However, the glamour icon’s sister, Sophie, revealed the star’s family still speak to the polo player. Opening up about her fondness for Leo, Sophie, said: “Do you know what, I like Leo. I do like Leo and (my husband) Harry still talks to Leo now and then on Facebook. And he sort of says, ‘How are you?'”

Katie’s whirlwind relationship with the Argentine came two years after her split from Peter Andre. They, of course, had to put up with a language barrier, with Katie not speaking any of Leo’s native Spanish, however, they made it work via the ‘language of love’.

“If life isn’t for livin’ and lovin’, then what is it for? And anyway – three is a lucky number,” she told The Sun after getting engaged.

Katie and Leo eventually split at the end of 2012, after a flurry of fiery rows, with Leo later claiming he dumped the OnlyFans star because she was driving him “insane”.

Speaking to Caras magazine in Argentina, he said at the time of their break-up: “I left her simply because she is crazy. Katie’s brain is not wired right, or the wires don’t connect properly.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with her. I was thinking it over recently and one day I packed my bags and left.

“There was nothing else I could do. She was driving me insane.”

Leo added: “That’s it, there’s no going back.”

In contrast, Katie said she wished her ex well, but her generosity didn’t last long.

After their split, the glamour icon claimed she had been forced to hand back her engagement ring.

The allegation was made during a X/Twitter exchange with her friend when presenter, Phil Turner, tweeted in 2013: “I’m sorry to hear your heart ring has been repossessed.”

To which Katie replied: “Just did (hand it back)! That man took advantage of my generosity if only peeps could see the emails all over Christmas him wanting me back. (sic)”

Katie’s spokesperson told the Evening Standard at the time: “Katie found out that the ring had not been paid for by Leo and so has returned it rather than have the jeweller out of pocket and Leo pursued for the debt.”

However, Leandro slammed Katie’s version of events, saying the ring didn’t arrive until after they had broken-up, and claimed it was The Pricey who ordered the sparkler for herself.

He told the outlet: “The ring in question has never been in my possession. It was a ring Katie Price designed, ordered and had delivered directly to herself from her personal jeweller.”

China FM in Afghanistan, offers to deepen cooperation with Taliban rulers

According to the Afghan Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China wants to explore mining in Afghanistan and request that Kabul formally join its Belt and Road Initiative, a&nbsp, massive infrastructure plan, which is a pillar of President Xi Jinping’s plan to expand his country’s global influence.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met in Kabul and spoke with one another about growing ties.

According to a readout of the meeting released by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing will continue to support the Afghan government in achieving long-term stability and peace.

According to Wang, China is willing to strengthen its political ties with Afghanistan and increase cooperation in fields like agriculture and trade.

He demanded that Afghanistan combat armed groups, stressing that closer security ties would guarantee bilateral economic cooperation.

According to the Afghan statement, “Mr. Wang Yi also mentioned that China plans to start real mining operations this year.”

According to Hamdullah Fitrat, the administration’s deputy spokesperson, Wang also met with Afghan Prime Minister Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund.

China has worked closely with Afghanistan and other nations in their development, Akhund told Wang, urging Beijing to carry out its “efforts and cooperation on the international stage in support of Afghanistan’s legitimate position.”

Wang stated to the prime minister that China’s friendship with Afghanistan was “sincere and steadfast.”

According to Fitrat, he said, “We fully support the Afghan people’s progress.”

Wang is attending meetings between China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in Kabul.

Both countries have sent their ambassadors to Kabul and given Afghan ambassadors their blessing in their capitals, despite Beijing and Islamabad’s formal recognition of the interim administration.

China has aimed to strengthen its ties to the hardline group that seized control of Afghanistan in 2021, making it the first country to do so under the Taliban.

Wakefield awarded 48-0 win for Salford cancellation

Rex Features

The Rugby Football League (RFL) has awarded Wakefield Trinity a 48-0 win for last week’s cancelled Super League game at Salford Red Devils.

The match was called off because of significant welfare concerns, with Salford only having two players available who had featured in the competition in the past 12 months.

The Red Devils, who have seen most of their senior players leave this season because of ongoing financial concerns, have said they will play Friday’s scheduled game against Leigh Leopards.

The result means that Wakefield are now one point behind sixth-placed Hull FC as they look to secure the final play-off place with five games remaining.

Salford remain bottom with two wins from 22 matches.

Their owners released a statement earlier in August to say the club would not be closing despite their money problems.

Chief operating officer Claire Bradbury resigned from her position last Thursday and alleged the club’s ownership suggested she “sleep with someone at the Rugby Football League” to ease their situation. Salford said they will be “conducting a thorough internal investigation” into the allegations.

She’s also penned other Sunday Times chart-toppers – including A Good Catch, Coming Home, and The Newcomer – decades following the publication of her debut book in 1998, whilst still presenting Ready Steady Cook.

“I hope to catch glimpses of their spirits as I walk along a moon-dappled beach.”

Kefalonia is a stunning holiday spot, renowned for its spectacular natural splendour, particularly its coastlines, caverns, and diverse terrain.

The island, which is the biggest in the Ionian Sea off Greece’s western shore, is encircled by azure waters and is celebrated for its farming output, especially olive oil. Despite her choice of a troubled romance novel, Fern has clarified her own romantic situation, confessing she’s quite content being single after a few tumultuous years.

“These past six to seven years it’s been one thing after another,” she shared with fans, adding: “My parents died; my marriage ended; I had a stalker.

“I managed very well, but the repercussions were like a sonic boom. Everyone keeps asking me if I’m dating. Nobody’s dating me. I’m enjoying my own company. I’m not fearful about going to a restaurant on my own, travelling on my own.”

Russia says talks on Ukraine security guarantees must include Moscow

Following European leaders meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss security guarantees for Kyiv, Russia has warned that trying to resolve Ukraine security issues without Moscow’s involvement is “the road to nowhere.”

“We cannot accept the suggestion that Russia is being used to resolve security and collective security issues. Sergey Lavrov, the head of Russian foreign affairs, stated on Wednesday that this will not work.

“I’m confident that those in the West and, more importantly, those in the United States, are fully aware that seriously discussing security issues without the Russian Federation is a utopia, it’s a journey to nowhere,” he said.

Two days after Trump hosted Volodymyr Zelenskyy alongside prominent European leaders at the White House and two days after Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the minister made the remarks.

More than three years after Russia invaded its neighbor, Trump is attempting to entice Zelenskyy to reach a deal, but significant obstacles still exist.

Any summit between Putin and Zelenskyy “must be prepared in the most meticulous way,” according to the Russian official, so that the conflict’s situation doesn’t “deteriorate” in the process.

Lavrov also accused European leaders of making “clumsy attempts” to alter the US president’s position on Ukraine.

In response to the meeting on Monday, he said, “We have only seen aggressive escalation of the situation and rather clumsy attempts to change the US president’s position.”

The Europeans there did not offer any insightful suggestions, Lavrov continued.

NATO discussions

In an effort to pacify Russia’s offensive, NATO military chiefs are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss specifics of potential security guarantees for Ukraine.

32 defense chiefs from across the alliance will hold a video conference, according to the NATO Military Committee.

The discussions will also include US General Alexus Grynkewich, the head of NATO’s operations in Europe.

A coalition of 30 nations, including those from Europe, Japan, and Australia, has signed up to support the initiative, and Kyiv’s European allies are looking to establish a force that could halt any peace agreement.

The operation of that security force is being considered by military chiefs. The US’s potential role is uncertain. Trump vehemently opposed sending US troops to Ukraine to help Russia’s defense on Tuesday.
