Love Island exes in bitter public feud as Islander is accused of ‘lying’ after split

Two of this year’s Love Islanders have entered into a bitter feud online after the boy accuses his ex of ‘lying’

When Emma Munro entered Casa Amor this year, it was a shock to many, most of all her ex-boyfriend Harry Cooksley. She continued the drama when she came back to the main Love Island villa but ultimately left with fellow Casa bombshell Boris Vidovic. Now, the drama continues as the pair have descended into an online feud after Boris accused Emma of “lying”.

The pair began as two thirds of a love triangle, since Boris was with Billykiss Azeez when they first started flirting. After a steamy hot tub snog, Emma and Boris became a couple on the show and left with each other after being voted off. But by the live finale, they were just “flirty friends” again.

It seems that now, weeks after the end of the show, they aren’t even friends, as both appear to be taking swipes at each other on social media.

The feud began after Boris posted a video to his TikTok, where he lip-synced to Lies by Culture Wars and captioned the video: “When you knew someone was lying to you on Love Island.”

Emma is thought to be retaliating after she posted a video to the same music with the words: “When they keep banging on about an undeniable connection.”

Now, Boris has issued a statement, telling the Mirror: “Look, I’m good. I’ve got nothing but respect for Emma, but I’m focused on my own path right now. Boris is doing Boris that’s where my energy is.”

She then posted another video alongside fellow Islander Andrada Pop, where the two danced and pretended to fight. “If you start a fight with me this is who I’m bringing as backup,” she wrote.

Andrada has also fallen out with her Love Island partner Ben Holborough. Like Boris and Emma, the two broke up before the Love Island finale, but this pair were far from friends as Ben had cheated on Andrada by kissing another girl. The same unknown girl also kissed Tommy Bradley, causing his break up with Lucy Quinn.

The couples still together from series 12 of Love Island are Emma’s ex Harry and his partner Shakira Khan, winners Toni Laites and Cach Mercer, Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes, and Meg Moore and Dejon Noel-Williams. Harrison Solomon and Lauren Wood are also seemingly still together but have still not made their relationship official, despite Harrison leaving the villa to be with Lauren after she was dumped.

Martinez’s commitment to Villa is massive – Emery

Getty Images

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is happy and committed to the club, says manager Unai Emery.

World Cup winner Martinez, 33, was heavily linked with Manchester United during the transfer window and sat out Villa’s 3-0 defeat by Crystal Palace.

But, after United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, Argentina international Martinez is available for Villa’s Premier League match against Everton on Saturday.

“Everything happens with players, maybe staying, maybe they were close to leaving, maybe other players were close to others or to join us,” said Emery.

“It’s normal. I understand it. Staying here is good news, I am so, so happy. He is the best goalkeeper in the world. His commitment to Aston Villa is massive.

Deadline-day signings Harvey Elliott, Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof are expected to be in the Villa squad on Saturday, though Manchester United loanee Sancho will be eased in.

The winger was training away from the United squad before making a season-long loan move to Villa Park.

“It’s different circumstances for each one,” said Emery.

“Jadon Sancho was not training with the group and physically he will need time.

“Every training session we are doing with those players is very important – to adapt as soon as possible.”

Kerr ‘very confident’ for 1500m defence in Tokyo

To play this video you need to enable JavaScript in your browser.

“I’m here to win” was the simple message from Josh Kerr as he prepared to defend his 1500m title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

It’s neither bravado nor boasting, just the quiet conviction of an athlete who can look at his medal haul in the past four years and see World gold, Olympic silver and Olympic bronze glinting back at him.

“It feels exactly what it’s supposed to feel like,” said the 27-year-old Scot of his preparations. “It feels like I’ve earned it.

“It feels like I know what I’m doing and I’m just looking to execute a similar plan to 2023, where I go out and I take the race and win it pretty dominantly.

“You have to make sure you respect the competition’s abilities but I’m feeling very confident.”

A fierce competitor and good race strategist, Kerr is also a deep thinker and took time out to process the magnitude of his achievement in Budapest when he got the better of bitter rival Jacob Ingebrigtsen.

He explained: “When you win one of these and you finally get to that gold medal spot, everyone asks how it feels and has it sunk in?

“It took me a while to figure out. What it meant to me was; what standards do I need to raise in my life to allow this to be a trend and not a one-off? What do I need to do to be a world champion in the way that I train, the way I travel, the way I sleep, the way I eat, all of that stuff.

“I took four or five months analysing each part of my life and tried to see where I could make little gains, so that you go into a championship with no kind of stone left unturned.

Kerr will have two other Scottish global medallists for company in Japan.

Neil Gourley took world indoor silver in Nanjing earlier this year, while Jake Wightman paved the way to Kerr’s gold medal by beating Ingebrigtsen to the top of the podium the year before in Eugene.

Back-to-back world 1500m champions from Scotland is an achievement that still makes Kerr smile.

“It is underappreciated but that’s the world of sport, everyone moves on really quickly,” he said.

“I do think Scotland appreciates us. So our goal for the next few years is to continue to share the story, continue to share every part of what we do to get ready for these championships so that we can grow the next crop of athletes.

“For any athlete that comes through the club system in Scotland, we’ve shown you can reach these levels. There’s nothing stopping you from being the best in the world. We need to be that resource for them.

“It’s an awesome era to be in and I couldn’t be surrounded by better guys. I’m sure we’ll have some great battles and if I’m not the one winning, then I bloody hope that one of those two is.

“I think the Brits can have multiple medals. I mean, if you’re not going to tune in for the final on Wednesday, I don’t know what you’re doing.”

The race will also be the latest chapter in the Josh versus Jakob rammy, an intense rivalry that shows no sign of easing off.

“No, we don’t get along,” Kerr confirmed. “Then again, I’m not here to have lots of friends from different places. I’m here to bring medals back to the UK, back to Scotland.

Phillip Schofield’s ITV career ‘erased in three minutes’ at NTAs

In a scathing observation about the awards this week, it was noted that Phillip Schofield’s two-decade career was “erased in three minutes”, despite the presence of his former co-star, Holly Willoughby

Phillip Schofield’s two-decade career at ITV was “erased in three minutes” at the National Television Awards, it has been claimed. In a scathing observation about a montage at the glitzy awards this week, a journalist has pointed out that Schofield’s “30-year” contributions to ITV were notably omitted, despite the presence of his former co-star, Holly Willoughby.

The former This Morning star abruptly quit the flagship ITV show in May 2023 after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague and has since stepped back from the spotlight.

Schofield, who also hosted Dancing on Ice alongside Willoughby, also claimed in a statement announcing his resignation at the time that the “consensual on-off relationship” was “now over”.

Despite a brief return to TV in the form of Channel 5’s Cast Away in 2024, Schofield has largely lain low since the scandal. And now one commentator has suggested his 30-year ITV career has been “erased” after he was missing from an emotional montage at the National Television Awards.

The Daily Mail’s Ephraim Hardcastle writes: “Phillip Schofield’s 20-year career at ITV was erased in three minutes at Wednesday’s National Television Awards.

“While his erstwhile This Morning partner Holly Willoughby featured, he was not mentioned in a montage showcasing 70 years of ITV’s stars. Not even a jokey, ‘Whatever happened to Phil whatsisname?!'”

Schofield signed his first exclusive contract with ITV in 1993 and is most known for fronting This Morning from 2002-2023 and Dancing On Ice on and off between 2006 and 2023. He resigned after the scandal broke in 2023.

In a statement to the Daily Mail at the time of the scandal, Schofield said he “met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television”.

He also issued an apology for lying to his colleagues, bosses, the public and the media. An ITV spokesperson said they were “deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit” made by the presenter, noting that it had severed ties with him, reports the BBC.

In further quotes attributed to an ITV spokesperson, they said: “The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust.

“Phillip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down.”

Earlier this year, ITV opted to end Dancing on Ice, which meant that Willoughby’s 21-year run as an ITV presenter had come to an end, having first joined the network in 2004 on CITV’s Ministry of Mayhem.

She also withdrew from You Bet!, co-hosted with Stephen Mulhern, due to scheduling conflicts with her reportedly now-axed Netflix show, Celebrity Bear Hunt, featuring famed TV adventurer Bear Grylls.

In March, an insider said: “It’s true there is nothing for Holly in the pipeline at the moment but that is unlikely to remain the case in the longterm. ITV has a long and happy history with Holly, our viewers love her, and she’s sure to be back soon.”

‘We need a big presence’ – Guardiola on keeper dilemma

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says “everyone will be involved” this season as he weighs up his starting goalkeeper for Sunday’s derby against Manchester United.

Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma joined from Paris St-Germain on transfer deadline day, after City signed James Trafford and Marcus Bettinelli in the summer, while Stefan Ortega also remains part of the squad.

The club also sold long-time number one Ederson to Fenerbahce for £12.1m to end a trophy-filled eight years at Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola paid tribute to the Brazilian, who helped create a “special way for the best decade for this club”, but wanted to “try a new experience”.

The Spaniard also praised Ilkay Gundogan and Manuel Akanji – who also left for Galatasaray and Inter Milan – for their contributions to City’s past success.

But as he now focuses on City’s future, Guardiola needs to decide whether to throw £26m signing Donnarumma straight in against United or continue with Trafford, who has started the first three games this season.

“He is so tall, he is so huge,” he said of Donnarumma, 26. “[From] all the keepers we want is safe balls, give confidence to the team, have personality and a big presence.

“In the biggest stages in the Champions League last season, at Villa Park, Anfield and in many games, he proved how good he is.

“He is going to concede goals, that is for sure, but all of us, we are going to try to handle it.”

Asked about the 22-year-old Trafford, Guardiola replied: “He is a keeper for Man City. I can only play one keeper, I can play two full-backs, two centre-backs.

“The season is so long everyone will be involved. They may not believe it but they will.”

Donnarumma not signed ‘to do what Ederson has done’

The signing of Donnarumma appears to shift away from the sweeper-keeper ability of Ederson, who changed the face of goalkeeping in the Premier League with the ball at this feet.

The Brazilian provided seven assists in the English top flight, more than any other goalkeeper, while there is often the suggestion Donnarumma is not as comfortable in possession.

“I always try to adapt the quality of the players,” added Guardiola. “I will not demand to Gigi to do something like he is uncomfortable.

“We are talking about the best players I’ve ever seen in the distribution, in short and long, I’ve ever seen with Ederson. So, we didn’t take Gigi to do what Ederson has done, Gigi has another quality.

Haaland ‘a little bit above’ Isak

Striker Erling Haaland comes into the game on the back of scoring an incredible five goals in Norway’s 11-1 hammering of Moldova during the recent World Cup qualifiers.

The 25-year-old’s goal in the defeat at Brighton before the break also took his tally to 88 in just 100 Premier League games – the most by a player to reach that milestone.

Earlier on Friday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot described Alexander Isak as “maybe the best striker in the world” following the Sweden international’s move to Anfield for a British record £125m fee.

But Guardiola responded: “Erling is a little bit above.

“Isak is an exceptional player. You ask what Erling is as a striker – he’s the top. But Isak must be a top player for what they paid, obviously.

“Another person would say [Kylian] Mbappe, another person would say [Lionel] Messi, another person would say Cristiano [Ronaldo]. That’s fine. It is a game of opinions and everyone has the right to an opinion.

“What I’m saying is that I would not change Erling for anyone. I know him. He is incredible as a player, adorable as a person and I like him.”

City go into the 197th derby on the back of consecutive league defeats and are 13th in the table, with United a point ahead in ninth.

It is the first time they have trailed their rivals heading into a Manchester derby since 2020.

Haaland told Viaplay: “We’ve lost two games in a row, it’s not good enough, it’s way too bad. We need to figure it out, get back to winning ways. We can’t afford to lose games, as there’s so many good teams.

Chelsea’s Delap Out For Up To Three Months — Maresca

Chelsea striker Liam Delap could be sidelined until December after injuring his hamstring before the international break, manager Enzo Maresca said on Friday.

Delap signed from Ipswich for £30 million ($40 million) in June and has featured in all of Chelsea’s three Premier League matches so far.

But he was forced off early in the 2-0 win against Fulham on August 30.

“Liam, I think it’s around 10 to 12 weeks, so a long way to go,” Maresca told reporters on Friday.

Chelsea recalled forward Marc Guiu from a loan spell at Sunderland to cover for Delap after Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson left the Blues for Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day.

Maresca also has another forward option in Joao Pedro, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton in July.

But the Chelsea boss admitted Delap’s injury left him short of forward options ahead of Saturday’s west London derby at Brentford.

“We have the injury for sure now in this moment as a number nine,” he said.

“The only one is Guiu. And Joao (Pedro) also can play there. Against Fulham, we used Tyrique (George) as a nine. So we can also think about him.”

England forward Cole Palmer is nearing a return after missing Chelsea’s victories over West Ham and Fulham with a groin injury and could be involved on Saturday.

But Maresca said there was a question mark over the involvement of Joao Pedro, Estevao Willian and Andrey Santos, all of whom arrived back in England on Thursday after playing in Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to Bolivia.

Moises Caicedo returned late on Thursday following Ecuador’s victory over Argentina.

Brazil’s game took place at an altitude of more than 4,000 metres, creating a further complicating factor in recovery times.

“The three Brazilian players arrived yesterday, they didn’t train, they did some recovery sessions,” said Maresca. “Moises arrived last night. They’re all a question mark for tomorrow.”

Maresca said winger Alejandro Garnacho was “working well” since his arrival from Manchester United but was not yet 100 percent fit.

Chelsea, who won the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup in Maresca’s first season, sit second in the Premier League after three games this term.

The club were charged by the Football Association on Thursday with 74 alleged breaches of rules related to payments to agents between 2009 and 2022.

The FA said the charges primarily relate to the period between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons when the Blues were owned by Roman Abramovich.

“I know the club are satisfied about the situation, about the process,” Maresca said.

“Personally I don’t have anything to add because I don’t have any idea. If I say something I could be wrong. I just focus on the pitch side, which I can control.

“I don’t think the players are too worried about the situation to be honest.”
