Bristol Bears defeated Ashton Gate to end their Prem campaign, opening the season with a 42-24 victory for new Tigers of Leicester coach Geoff Parling.

After AJ MacGinty’s penalty and Fitz Harding’s score for the Bears, Jack van Poortvliet went over and Adam Radwan crossed twice to make it 17-10.

Before Tom Jordan’s penalty and an assist from Gabriel Ibitoye’s try, Bristol were 10 points clear at the break.

Orlando Bailey cut the deficit, but Josh Carrington’s Prem debut score made it even more impressive before Louis Rees-Zammit’s last-gasp try earned the Bears a victory.

Bristol’s exciting backs division, which Rees-Zammit made his first top-flight appearance since joining the NFL in January 2024, was anticipated to have much to offer.

And the Wales international skillfully added gloss to a hard-earned victory by scoring in the final embers with a stunning burst of speed from within his own half.

Bristol’s forward muscle, however, was crucial, allowing them to recover the initiative in two of their first three tries and wreak a number of penalties at the break.

After MacGinty led Bristol, Tigers’ adventure earned the win, causing Will Wand to start the pace down the right touchline before van Poortvliet arrived via Ollie Hassell-Collins’ slick offload.

Then Radwan extended Leicester’s lead by crossing the line with his right foot after three challenges.

As Harding made his 100th appearance and his 50th as captain, Bristol burrowed over from close range, with Jordan taking over the kick duties on his Prem debut and adding the extras.

Although Bailey’s long-range penalty attempt fell off the right-hand post, Radwan’s second try, this time with a superb one-handed diving finish, soon extended Leicester’s lead.

In a seesaw first half, the hosts responded when Ibitoye, the team’s joint-leading try scorer last year, was quickly able to run into the left corner unchallenged.

And Jordan added two more conversions to bring the score to 2-1 at half-time with Bailey also missing two.

Before Oghre peeled off the back of an unstoppable forward drive to put the hosts 10 points clear, Jordan scored the opener with a penalty before Jordan and the hosts were already two goals ahead.

Bailey, one of six Leicester debutants, dived over to reduce the deficit to three, but the Bears had no response to a clever Bristol move and Carrington’s acceleration, which gave them a two-score advantage.

Bristol: Rees-Zammit, Jenkins, Janse van Rensburg, Ibitoye, Randall, Woolmore, Oghre, Kloska, Dun, Batley, Luatua, Harding, Grondona, and Jordan.

Replacements: Carrington, Grahamslaw, Chawatama, Owen, Mata, Marmion, Ravouvou, and Thacker.

Leicester: Radwan, Wand, Woodward, Hassell-Collins, Bailey, van Poortvliet, Smith, Blamire, Heyes, Henderson, Thompson, Liebenberg (c), Ilione, Cracknell, and Steward, Radwan, Wand, Woodward, and others.

Pixie Lott ‘juggling a lot’ as she opens up about toughest part of pregnancy

Pixie Lott, a singer who is expecting a second child with Oliver Cheshire, revealed her pregnancy condition.

Pixie Lott struggled to balance work and family life due to severe sickness during the first trimester of her second pregnancy. The 34-year-old singer and her husband, Oliver Cheshire, 37, who share two-year-old Albert, are expecting their second child together after tying the knot in 2022.

She announced her pregnancy while performing at the June 2016 Mighty Hoopla Festival in Brockwell Park, London. I’m having another baby, Pixie said to the audience! When the star dropped the significant news, thousands of fans were gathered close to the stage to watch her performance on the Hayu Arena stage.

As she posed outside of her dressing room later, Pixie confirmed the news on Instagram.

As she exposed her bump, she sang along to one of her songs with the words “I’m over caring what the weirdos think of me, leave it all behind, it’s a projection of their insecurities, I just cut the ties, I’m a mother, of another.”

The actress revealed that she had experienced severe illness during her first trimester as her due date neared.

She claimed to the Daily Mail that she experienced “very sick” during her first trimester, but I didn’t experience that because I was also working.

I was constantly juggling. I was playing festivals and having a lot of energy in the second trimester, which made things pass quickly.

Pixie continued, “It’s been fun dressing my bump because obviously your body changes so much.” What the human body does to prepare for a life is amazing. Because I was able to perform at the same time, I feel very fortunate.

The singer kept her first pregnancy under wraps until she was 31 weeks pregnant. Taking to Instagram in June of 2023, she showcased her huge baby bump while wearing a black bra and leggings, while Oliver tenderly kissed her bump.

She said, “We are beyond excited to announce that we are expecting our first child together, and we are looking forward to starting a family of our own.”

On the day’s lineup, she joined JADE, Ciara, Mutya Buena, Jamelia, and The Vengaboys.

Pixie and her partner Oliver first met at a Select Model catwalk event in 2010, and they eventually got married in 2022. The couple gave birth to Albert in October of that year.

Injured Hovland ruled out of Ryder Cup singles

Due to a neck injury, Europe’s Viktor Hovland will not compete in Sunday’s Ryder Cup singles.

His half-point score has been set at half-point for his clash with Harris English from the US.

It means that Europe is now 1122-4212-42 ahead of it all-around and only needs two points from the 11 remaining singles to win the Ryder Cup, and 221 points to win it all-in-one.

In the event of an injury to a player from the US, Keegan Bradley wrote English in the envelope.

English and Hovland were paired in the 12th match when the draw for the singles was announced following Saturday’s game.

Following his Saturday morning foursomes victory against Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley, Hovland’s issue became public.

Tyrrell Hatton took Matt Fitzpatrick’s place in the afternoon fourballs, which Hovland had been scheduled to play with in.

Hovland, who claimed he has “had some issues with a neck injury on and off for the past two months,” had an MRI on Saturday night.

Luke Donald, the European captain, told Sky Sports, “He was really stiff this morning and tried to go through his warm-up but just couldn’t play.”

He is devastated, he said. He has been destroyed. It is unfortunate that he really wanted to play in the singles for Team Europe.

Since being used three times since 1979, the envelope rule has been in effect.

Capsey’s 88 helps England beat Australia in World Cup warm-up

Bengaluru warms up for the Women’s World Cup.

Australia 247 (34.4 overs): Litchfield 71 (48), Glenn 5-32

England 251-6 (44.3 overs): Capsey 88* (85), Garth 2-17

England’s final Women’s World Cup warm-up match in India was won by four wickets thanks to Alice Capsey’s unbeaten 88.

Before Capsey revived the innings with an innings total of 82 with Sophia Dunkley, who made 54, England fell to 32-3 in Bengaluru on the run of 248 to win.

Although Darcie Brown and Danni Wyatt-Hodge fell cheaply for 10 in the partnership of 109 and Emma Lamb, England was within striking distance.

With only four more runs required, the in-form Lamb, who made 81 against India in the other warm-up match, fell for 60. However, Capsey’s knock made sure England made it to their goal comfortably in the 45th over.

As England changed the squad, and with the exception of Tammy Beaumont, Amy Jones, and Heather Knight, the experienced top three, Tammy Beaumont, Amy Jones, and Heather Knight, the recovery was impressive.

Kim Garth awarded Beaumont and Knight eight and five, respectively, while Megan Schutt awarded Jones nine and eight.

Sarah Glenn, a leg-spinner for Australia, bowled Australia out for 247 in 34.4 overs, and England also did a remarkable fightback with the ball.

In the first over, Australia captain Alyssa Healy was taken out by Lauren Bell, but fellow opener Phoebe Litchfield top-scored with 71 from 48 balls to make a strong start at 128-3.

Ellyse Perry didn’t play for Australia, and their batting lineup also changed, and Glenn’s bowling caused a collapse to 167-8.

After Georgia Voll, Sophie Molineux, and Georgia Wareham’s all rejigged middle order, top-order batter Beth Mooney, who came in at number nine, made 59 from 42 balls.
