Roger Allers dead: Legendary Disney animated director of The Lion King died aged 76

Roger Allers, a well-known Disney animator, passed away at the age of 76. On Sunday, producer and special effects designer Dave Bossert shared the depressing news with Roger.

Roger paid a moving tribute to the late film director in an emotional way while the cause of death was not immediately known. Roger, who co-wrote the animated classic The Lion King with Rob Minkoff, also directed the Sony animated film Open Season, and worked as a storyboard artist for The Little Mermaid and Return to Never Land.

Dave emailed his friend and colleague a heartfelt tribute on Sunday, posting it to Facebook. He continued, “I’m deeply saddened by the news that our friend Roger Allers has passed away on to his next journey.

Still of The Lion King
The Lion King (Disney) was co-directed by the animator in 1994.

This loss makes it feel even more unbelievable that we were just swapping emails last week while he was visiting Egypt. A true pillar of the Disney Animation renaissance, Roger was a remarkable artist and filmmaker. He started working on Tron’s per-production concepts at Disney.

He then took over as the story’s director on Beauty and the Beast and Oliver & Company and The Little Mermaid, among other movies.

Dave continued, “I had the privilege of working with Roger on many films in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, and he was unquestionably one of the kindest people you could hope to know and work alongside.”

A still image of The Little Mermaid animation
He also worked on Disney’s The Little Mermaid storyboards.

He continued on to his friend’s enormous accomplishments, saying, “He later co-directed The Lion King, a phenomenal success, but it never went off his head.” Regardless of title or position, Roger treated everyone with sincere kindness and respect.

On The Little Matchgirl, I collaborated very closely with him, and it was a joy to work with him because he had such a sense of wonder, generosity, and enthusiasm that lifted everyone around him.

Without him, the world would be dimmer and the world would be happier. My friend, rest in peace. until we cross again on the opposite side.

A photo of Dave and the late Firector was shared alongside the post. In 2016, Dave and I were pictured at an Academy event. His colorful sports jackets were always my favorite.

After watching Disney’s Peter Pan when he was five years old, Roger was mesmerized by animation and was born in Rye, New York, on June 29, 1949. He earned degrees in the Fine Arts from Arizona State University and worked for Lisberger Studios, where he produced animations for productions like Sesame Street and The Electric Company.

He relocated to Los Angeles in the middle of the 1980s, starting a remarkable animation career that included roles in some of the biggest animated movies of all time.

After meeting while traveling around Greece after graduating, he wed Leslee Hackenson in 1977. A daughter and Leah, as well as a son named Aidan, were welcomed by the couple.

In 2020, Roger and Leslee split up. His ex-wife and their two children remain.

Danny Dyer ‘lined up’ for Celebrity Traitors as bosses lock down dream signing

The EastEnders star reportedly wants to be involved in the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors after Traitors bosses struggled to land Danny Dyer for the first series.

EaseEnders star Danny Dyer is reportedly lined up to take part in the second series of The Celebrity Traitors. It has been reported that the actor turned down the role for the first series, but, after seeing the ‘fun and games’ last year, he now wants to get involved.

The first series, won by Alan Carr, instantly became a hit with viewers following on from the success of the regular show, which is continuing to take in millions of viewers every episode. According to a source, the 48 year old turned down the part last year and decided not to join the celebrities, but is now “all set to join filming up in the Highlands later this year.”

According to a source, “Danny was always at the top of The Celebrity Traitors’ wish list but never showed any interest until last fall when I saw the fun and games.” It was all systems gone as soon as his tune changed, according to The Sun.

Although it has been reported that Danny’s bosses were unable to agree to be locked down for the first series, he has since said yes after revealing that he was enjoying watching.

Danny is referred to as “gold,” and the source continued, “Danny is a reality TV booker’s dream signing and will be incredible value,” adding that he is naturally funny but in a completely different way from Alan Carr. He will be absolute gold because he won’t want to use the same formula again.

“As we saw with Daisy May Cooper for series one, things can change at the last minute, but Danny looks all set to join filming up in the Highlands later this year.”

Danny has already stated that he wants to appear on the program and, more importantly, play the Traitor.

He stated in a conversation with the Live and Let Dyer podcast, “It’s a pretty straightforward game. Although it seemed too complicated, it’s actually just people who are manipulating people and lying a lot. It’s difficult to be a believer if you try to pretend you’re a believer and it turns out badly.

“So I might participate in the upcoming series if the money’s right.” There are triple and double bluffs, but I believe I would prefer to be a traitor because it’s more enjoyable, and you have a job.

A This Morning icon is also said to be at the top of the BBC’s list of Celebrity Traitors. Alison Hammond made it known that if she were ever to be on the show, and this could soon come into play in November last year.

David Beckham ‘slapped with parking ticket’ on £160k Bentley after Rolex shopping spree

As he parked up his £160,00 Bentley outside a Rolex store in Central London on Sunday, multi-millionaire David Beckham was unaffected by the threat of a parking ticket.

After parking his £160, 000 Bentley directly outside the Rolex store on Bond Street, David Beckham was caught film ripping a parking ticket off the windscreen. The footballer and his wife Victoria shopped in the luxury watch manufacturer’s store in Central London while the pair purchased a ticket for around £110, which is considered to be small change.

Before entering, Victoria walked round to the passenger side as David discovered the ticket and leaped over the window to rip it off. The couple, who have a combined net worth of about £500 million, unharmed, and drove off together.

A video of the incident, filmed by a passer-by, was obtained by the Mail. The Mirror has reached out to David’s reps for comment.

The former Manchester United footballer boasts an enviable multi-million-pound car collection, as well as his Bentley, he has an array of top-of-the-range vehicles. One that is said to be his favourite is a bespoke Maserati MC20 supercar, tailor-made specifically for the football legend, comes with a hefty price tag of £220,000.

Former England midfielder David, 50, owns two of these stunning vehicles, with the custom-designed model holding a special place in his heart. The MC20 is lauded by Maserati as “the ultimate super sports car,” and it’s obvious why.

David gushed about his beloved MC20 in an earlier interview with British GQ, saying, “The MC20 is in Miami. In addition, I have one in London. It’s a fantastic vehicle. He described the bespoke design process as “I did the Fuoriserie program with Klaus, and I went from a car with deep purple to a light pink, then I went straight black, with pink trim and pink brake calipers.” My favorite is that.

The London-based David’s second MC20 has a sleek gunmetal grey finish. He has tried unsuccessfully to persuade his wife Victoria to take things one step further.

The London car is gunmetal gray, he added. At the moment, I’m attempting to drive it with Victoria, but I’m having a bad time. Although the driving position is a little low, driving is generally straightforward. It’s unbelievable on one track.

David and Victoria’s neighbors have recently been at odds with one another over the driveway. to the mansion’s rural Oxfordshire value of £12 million. Instead of converting a farm track into a second access road, they wanted to construct a new entrance so they wouldn’t share access.

But the couple raised eyebrows with local council officials after they went ahead with an extension without planning permission. Thankfully, planners have now given the thumbs up for a “change of use” of the track, turning it into an 800ft-long driveway.

The route is also shared by guests of Soho Farmhouse, a swanky members’ club and “rural escape” frequented by celebrities like the Clooneys, Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe, and Molly-Mae Hague. However, a resident of the neighborhood, who includes a tennis court, a treehouse, a pond, and a kitchen garden, “strongly objected” to the Beckhams’ proposal for secondary access to their Grade II listed estate.

She wrote a letter asking, “The house already has one perfectly serviceable access road, so why is it considered a good idea to build another section of tarmac land through the woods?” Rough riders should not be disturbed by enormous SUVs rushing up and down the lane. Please “forbid this application.”

READ MORE: Man who struggled to lose weight sheds 7 stone and gets abs after spotting Instagram ad

Inside Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright’s lavish holiday at £2K a night luxury hotel

Michelle Keegan, the reality TV star husband of Mark Wright, and Palma, the baby’s mother, have been enjoying the sights and soaking up the sun in Abu Dhabi.

Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have been living like reality show royalty on a winter trip to Abu Dhabi. The Coronation Street legend and The Only Way Is Essex star have boasted about their luxusious winter escape – while an ice cold weather front heads towards the UK.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, 38-year-old Michelle shared highlights from a £2,000-a-night stay at the Rixos Premium in Saadiyat Island. While reality star husband Mark, who turns 39 on Tuesday, was in for the ride as was their nine-month-old daughter, Palma.

As the happy family enjoyed the sun and upscale service, the family’s faces lit up in pictures. The soap star’s photos showed the sun set, with palm trees and swimming pools displayed.

One photo showed baby Palma staring obnoxiously at a fountain as water splashed in her direction. Another photo captured Michelle lovingly pushing her pushchair as the sun began to set.

Michelle rocking her daughter in a pram was featured in other videos. My new normal during the holidays, she wrote in a caption. Find a quiet spot, cramp your feet from rocking, and forget your headphones, please. While a video clip of the hotel was titled “Slow, peaceful mornings”

Michelle has previously talked about her happily married life with Mark, who she hasn’t seen since 2015. She previously stated to Grazia, “Mark and I feel fortunate that this industry doesn’t dominate our lives.” We first squirm our toes before returning to daily life. Although it’s very basic and boring, I like it that way.

She also admitted to being pregnant at the time of the interview and that she was reluctant to share more intimate moments of her life. She said: “Around the time we got married, I was open about my desire to have a family, but there was a lot of speculating once we stopped having children.”

“And we can handle that, but there was once a story every week,” the statement continued. I made the decision to not discuss that aspect of my life in public because my family had inquired about it. I’ll be 38 this year, and as I get older, my boundaries become more and more apparent.

Meanwhile, Mark has previously gushed about his experience as a father – gushing about his baby daughter on Heart radio soon after she arrived in March 2025. He said, “My little baby Palma, I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend my life with you. It’s the best feeling in the world – I wake up every morning just so excited to see her face.”

He continued, “It makes you realize what our mothers did for us and how much more respectable and difficult women must have been,” while describing his pride toward his wife.

And he continued, “That moment when I held her in my arms, it makes me emotional now thinking about it. I suppose everything else is thrown out the window because it made me realize Palma, my little one, is so precious to me and that I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you.

It’s a very unique sensation, the author says. It’s hard to describe in words. We’ve been waiting a while, pursued our goals, and are now here. There is a baby here.

Mark previously claimed that his fatherhood has prepared him for a quieter decade because his 40s are approaching. He said, “I’m worried because I cried when I turned 30,” if my thirties are anything to go by. Simply put, it seemed like the s**t was vanishing.

I was just 23 when I first started watching television when I was in my 20s, and everything sort of happened for me. When I turned 30, I just started being more responsible and having fun while still having fun and drinking. But I shouldn’t have cried because my thirties have been so amazing. My way of living already makes me feel like I’m 40. I don’t believe it will change much because I’ve settled in and slept well by 9 p.m. every night.

Trio through but Welsh clubs rue missed Euro chances

The Huw Evans Agency

Even though three of the Welsh sides will play in the last 16 of the Challenge Cup, they lacked opportunities in the group stages of Europe.

In April, Cardiff, Dragons, and Ospreys will travel to Benetton, Stade Francais, and Ulster, respectively, to compete in the knockout stages.

After frustrating defeats gave them the chance to rekindle relations, they might reflect on what might have been.

After being eliminated from the Champions Cup and not even having the consolation of joining the Challenge Cup, Scarlets will undoubtedly have regrets.

They frightened Northampton at Franklin’s Gardens, but they ultimately lost to Bristol and Pau in Llanelli.

England has seven, France four, Scotland and South Africa two each, and Ireland one while Wales will have four in the last 16 of the premier European competition.

Repeat Resurgent Dragons’ quest of Stade

Angus O'Brien celebrates with the Dragons supporters at Rodney Parade after the win against NewcastleThe Huw Evans Agency

In 2014, Dragons defeated Stade Francais 38-22, one of their most well-known victories was at Stade Jean Bouin. In April, they will attempt to do the same thing.

For the fourth straight win in Newport, the Rodney Parade club defeated Newcastle 35-12 on Friday.

When Perpignan and Lions drew 20-20 on Saturday night, they had to wait for their spot in the final 16 to be sealed.

The Dragons won a penalty try in the 68th minute to earn third place in the group thanks to the team’s victory in the avoiding elimination bonus point.

“The group will be in the knockout stages of Europe,” remarked co-captain Angus O’Brien. Everyone in the circle says, “We will give it everything,” and everyone wants to compete for things.

Filo Tiatia’s side put themselves in danger when Perpignan, who had won in the previous round one, fell to them in France.

The head coach restrained his big hitters for what was going to be a difficult trip to Benetton, even though their 74-21 hammering was not what was anticipated, which was ultimately a wise decision.

Before attempting to cause a major upset in Paris, the Dragons will now make United Rugby Championship (URC) travels to Munster, Ospreys, Stormers, Lions, and Ospreys to try to recover from travel sickness.

Since winning at Newcastle in December 2024, they have not won away from Newport.

O’Brien stepped up after Jason Tovey had a passport issue, and he won the famous victory at Stade Francais.

“We’ve had four fantastic wins at Rodney Parade, and we’re working hard to win,” he said.

Jones supports his selection for the Ospreys.

Head coach Mark Jones watches Ospreys warm up before their game against MontpellierThe Huw Evans Agency
After losing to Montpellier 31-26 on Saturday in the Challenge Cup in Bridgend, Ospreys head coach Mark Jones says he doesn’t regret his decision.

Ospreys will now face an away trip in the last 16 if they had defeated the French side to win at home.

Dewi Lake, Dan Edwards, James Ratti, Kieran Williams, Keelan Giles, Harri Deaves, Ryan Smith, or prop Tom Botha were not included in the squad for the 13 changes made by Jones from the side that lost to Zebre.

“I think there will be people asking why you didn’t choose your so-called more established players for the game,” Jones said.

“We’ve played those players over Christmas, through a difficult period, quick turnarounds, and many of them have had injuries or illnesses.”

We are about to make a quick turnaround. The brutality of these games has caused the rest and recovery, as I believe we have seven in the final eight.

“They’re going to end up being blown out before the end of the season if you play the same players all the time.”

It was crucial that we upped the intensity of the group, not just by giving it a lively performance, but also by developing some depth.

We need to know what some of these young players can and cannot do, they say. I’m trying to increase the depth of the team, which is my job.

I made every effort possible to change the game’s balance in an effort to win. The game is on the verge of winning. I haven’t regretted my choice.

“I’m just disappointed that we didn’t nail the result because it was well thought out and put through.”

Cardiff’s balancing act

Corniel van Zyl addresses the Cardiff squad and staff after the defeat at ExeterThe Huw Evans Agency

Corniel van Zyl, the coach who used the Challenge Cup to create competition for spots, has a consistent approach throughout the tournament and in the face of two fronts against Cardiff.

The Blue and Blacks continue to select strong sides, as did Exeter, where they failed to seriously challenge the in-form Chiefs with a 31-0 defeat.

With a six-day turnaround before a home game against Benetton, Cardiff will have a crucial moment of the season in store.

Before the Six Nations, they travel to Ulster, play at home against Leinster, and then travel to South Africa to face the Bulls and Sharks.

Before making any decisions about how to approach Europe, Cardiff will first hope to remain in a strong position for the play-offs.

Weekends of blankness for Scarlets

Josh Macleod leads Scarlets off the field after their Champions Cup defeat at NorthamptonThe Huw Evans Agency

In his capacity as Scarlets’ interim director of rugby, Nigel Davies now has a clear goal: to lure in a Welsh rival.

After suffering costly home defeats from Bristol and Pau, the Llanelli club have already lost all four of their Champions Cup matches.

Scarlets should have at least been playing in the Challenge Cup, but they’ll have a fortnight off starting in April.

They will look to hit those heights once more in the URC following the display at Franklin’s Gardens, which gave reason for optimism.

“I was delighted by how we handled the challenge, and I’ve told the players that they’ve set their standards this week with how they’ve practiced themselves mentally and physically,” Davies said.

Before the Six Nations, Scarlets host Ulster, travel to Benetton, and then travel to both Edinburgh and Connacht for the championship.

After being wrongly sided by referee Kevin Bralley to concede 15 penalties, they will now realize that their discipline needs to change.

Our scrum, according to Davies, was the difference between Northampton and Northampton. “We would have won if we had parity,” he said.
