Following an incident at a Saturday game in Wales’ third tier, a man has been detained on suspicion of assault.

Following the 17 January Ardal North West League game between amateur rivals Trearddur Bay and Porthmadog FC, a 35-year-old was taken into custody, according to North Wales Police.

Tom Taylor was initially declared suspended by Trearddur Bay on Sunday after a video showed him elbowing a Porthmadog FC player in the face.

After the committee’s emergency meeting, they made a second statement revealing that the club had released him.

Social media has seen a lot of footage of the incident at the Gwynedd Y Traeth (The Beach) stadium.

North Wales Police said the video was known, according to a statement from the police.

According to them, “Officers have been conducting inquiries to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.” A 35-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of assault as part of this investigation. At this time, he is still being held by the police.

We would ask the public to refrain from speculating while the investigation is ongoing because “enquiries are ongoing.”

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) announced to BBC Sport Wales that an investigation was being conducted.

Tier-three matches fall under the FAW’s purview, according to a statement. The FAW will be looking into the incident.

Trearddur Bay expressed regret for the incident in a statement announcing Taylor’s release.

Trearddur Bay Football Club stated that it “regrets that the incident should not have taken place” and that it does not condone violence in any way.

The club apologizes to the opposition player, Porthmadog FC, match officials, supporters, and the entire football industry.

While these issues are pending, the club will cooperate fully with any external investigations or disciplinary procedures. It will not make any further comments.

According to a statement from Porthmadog, safety of their player was their top priority.

The club wants to make it clear that Danny Brookwell, our player, is our top priority over his safety and well-being. They claimed that Danny had a concussion and had to leave the game after receiving medical attention.

Chile forest fire death toll rises to 16 as state of emergency declared

More than 50 000 people are reportedly forced to flee their homes by two dozen active forest fires in southern Chile, killing at least 18 people, according to authorities.

The 18 deaths were confirmed, according to President Gabriel Boric, “but we are certain that this number will increase.” Additionally, the president placed a new nighttime curfew in the hardest-hit areas.

In a press conference, security minister Luis Cordero previously confirmed 16 deaths in the Biobio and Nuble regions.

The worst effects of the fires have been felt in the areas of Biobio and Nuble, which are located about 500 kilometers (300 mi) south of Santiago, the capital.

Boric earlier on Sunday declared a state of emergency in both areas, saying “all resources are available” to stop the fires. The armed forces of Chile began pitching in after the declaration.

According to authorities, the majority of the evacuations took place in Biobio’s Penco and Lirquen, which are both cities. Around 60, 000 people live in the cities together.

According to Interior Minister Alvaro Elizalde, challenging weather conditions in the upcoming days, particularly extreme temperatures, are expected to make firefighting efforts more challenging.

He continued, “We have a complicated situation.”

Mass evacuations have been sparked by the fires that have torched Biobio and Nuble, causing them to burn around 85 km (33 mi) wide. To date, at least 250 homes have been destroyed.

In recent years, forest fires have affected South-central Chile, with more than 130 people killed as a result of simultaneous fires in February 2024.

How much of Trump’s foreign policy is driven by minerals and oil?

According to Daniel Yergin, an expert on the oil industry, the US is desperate to have its supply chains independently from China.

One of the world’s foremost experts on the economics of oil, Daniel Yergin, claims that China’s dominance of minerals, particularly the copper needed for electrification, data centers, robots, cellphones, and defense technology, is causing the United States to increase its control of oil and minerals globally.

Champions Cup

Glasgow Warriors 28 (21)

Cons: Horne 3, Lancaster, Steyn, Horne, and Smith

Saracens 3 (3)

Glasgow Warriors continued their fine form in the Investec Champions Cupwith victory over Saracens to set up a home last-16 tie against the Bulls.

With the scores coming from George Horne, Ollie Smith, Kyle Steyn, and Kyle Steyn crossing for tries in the first half, Warriors surged to a 21-13 lead over their English opponents.

In the second half, Saracens enjoyed greater territory and possession but were unable to break through Glasgow’s towering defense.

In the final play, substitute Seb Stephen scored to earn the Scots’ four wins from four and a maximum of 20 points in the pool stage.

In the next round, Saracens will face a trip to Bath while they have now secured home advantage for a potential route to the semi-finals.

The atmosphere in Scotstoun was raucous, and the home side had their fans glued to their seats within ten minutes because they knew a win would earn them a top-two seeding.

Alex Craig embarked on a galloping run after selling a dummy inside his own half. Zander Fagerson took up the baton with a thunderous carry and Smith’s sharp hands slammed the ball wide to make it run through a gap to score.

Lucio Cinti, who had intercepted Huw Jones near the Sarries line before he could go in under the sticks from a line-out move, was indebted to the visitors.

After a brilliant chip-and-chase from George Horne, Juan Martin Gonzalez received a yellow card for cynically stopping the attack close to his own line. Warriors were well on top.

Although Glasgow kept banging at the door and a clever inside ball from Horne sent Steyn in on a fantastic line to slice through and go in under the posts, Saracens’ tryline defense was heroic.

On his 150th appearance in Glasgow, Jack Dempsey made a run to the line after the traffic was one-way and Horne was free to run through two tackles.

After Sarries finally made some significant inroads into Glasgow territory, Elliot Daly almost threw them off the line, but some titanic defense kept the Warriors’ 18-point lead at the break.

In the second half, the visitors came out stronger and began to fight Glasgow, who remained determined in their defense despite losing Kyle Rowe to the sin-bin for a clumsy high tackle on Rotimi Segun.

Warriors were put on the front foot once more when a brilliant break from Steyn gave them the lead. Smith headed for the line in search of the fourth try, but the ball was lost in the process.

When Stephen’s powerful rolling maul was overturned to a powerful roar from the Scotstoun crowd, the bonus point was assured that it did indeed occur in the final act.
