ITV’s Davina McCall eats 19p breakfast food to stop cravings for slim figure

Davina has been very open with about her health and fitness routines

Davina McCall will reportedly eat a simple yet affordable breakfast brimming with nutritional goodness most mornings. It might be perfect for anyone wanting to ditch a hard-to-break habit of sneaking in a mid-morning snack.

The 57-year-old has previously spoken about her frightening brain tumour ordeal. The Masked Singer panellist and mum-of-three went under the knife for major surgery to extract a colloid cyst, a rare fluid-filled benign growth, from her brain in November 2024.

The former Big Brother presenter has consistently been open with followers regarding her wellness, health and fitness, sharing her lifestyle decisions on Instagram, reports the Mirror. During a chat with Hello Magazine, she revealed some simple-to-cope diet decisions that help her feel at her peak through delicious yet nourishing meals.

One thing that Davina swears by every morning is a proper breakfast. She told HELLO: “I would probably have granola and milk for breakfast. But sometimes, I’ll do a crumpet if I’m naughty.”

Other stars have told their fans about this being their morning preference too. GK Barry, a popular podcast host and TikToker who appears often on ITV’s Loose Women, said she’s “constantly on the go with work” so is a “big fan” of granola.

Granola is usually found in supermarket cereal aisles and is available in various ready-made varieties. Some prefer to stick with the plain base, and others go a little extra and create their own personalised mix using fruits and yoghurts for a naturally sweet morning kick-start.

You can pick up a packet of granola relatively cheaply at the supermarket. There’s a basic option in Asda beginning at just £1.92 a box, working out at about 19p per 100g portion.

The high-protein cereal helps to keep the ‘hunger hormone’ ghrelin in check, promoting instead the hormone leptin. This gives you a feeling of fullness, helping to stave off the urge to snack between meals. Keeping this mindset can help maintain or even boost weight loss over time. Granola is also a great source of fibre, which can help you feel satisfied after eating.

However, a word of warning is advised not to overindulge in this seemingly healthy option. Pre-packaged varieties can often be high in sugars and can potentially become calorie-dense and high in saturated fats as we add various toppings, so it’s always best to thoroughly check the labels.

The busy mum pairs her morning meal with a cup of collagen-boosted tea. In a chat with Get The Gloss, she shared that she prefers bovine collagen, which is available in powder or pill form.

Shop Stacey Solomon’s oversized sweater that’s ‘lovely for autumn and winter’

Stacey Solomon fans were desperate to know where she bought her cosy beige sweater, and we think we’ve tracked down her exact one with H&amp, M’s mohair blend jumper

It’s official – it’s sweater weather. With temperatures dropping and that autumn chill officially here to stay, there’s nothing better than a snuggly jumper to keep you warm and cosy. When Stacey Solomon posted on her Instagram stories chatting away in a beige oversized jumper, her fans were popping up in comments beginning for details.

Whilst Stacey didn’t reveal exactly where to shop her jumper, we think we may have tracked it down, and it’s available on the high street. We believe her jumper is H&amp, M’s beige Oversized Mohair-Blend Jumper, which you can usually pick up for £64.99, although it’s currently got 15% off, slashing it down to £55.25 for today only.

The beige jumper is made from a combination of 32% mohair and 32% wool which means it’s thick, cosy and will keep you ultra warm during the autumn and winter months. Although Stacey opted for the beige version, you can also pick up the Oversized Mohair-Blend Jumper in 11 other colours, including neutrals like black, cream and grey, as well as brighter shades like pink, yellow and orange.

Its oversized fit and boxy shape make it a great layering piece for the autumn and winter months, and it has wide fit sleeves that give it that cosy feel. The relaxed fit is also perfect for wearing a T-shirt or shirt underneath, which some shoppers may prefer if you tend to find mohair a little on the itchy side.

H&amp, M also has another version, which has a higher blend of wool to make it even warmer. The Oversized Mohair-Blend Jumper might have the same name on the H&amp, M website, but it’s made from 45% wool and 32% mohair, and is priced at £84.99, or £72.25 in the limited time sale.

Alternatively, M&S has an Alpaca Blend Textured Relaxed Jumper for £50, which comes in a similar beige colour, as well as dark burgundy and olive green. The M&S jumper has a slightly slimmer and cropped fit than the H&M oversized one, which makes it great for looking more put together.

Meanwhile at Nobody’s Child, the Beige Crew Neck Oversized Merino Wool Jumper is also on sale, down from £95 to £65, and you can even get an extra 20% discount when you use the code EXTRA20. It also has a slightly more muted beige colourway, with a relaxed, oversized fit that’s perfect for the colder weather.

At H&amp, M, the Oversized Mohair-Blend Jumper has also gotten rave reviews from shoppers, with one saying: “Beautiful sweater, great quality and a lovely colour for autumn winter. I’m UK 14 and the XS in perfect, still a little oversized, any bigger would have been far too big. Bought same jumper in dark grey and navy marl last year, now adding this lovely burgundy to my collection. Love these mohair sweaters so much, have also ordered the light grey too”.

Another agreed: “Great oversized soft feel jumper. It is very oversized. I am wearing size 10/12 and bought XS. Small was huge on me and sleeves were a way too long. Go for one size smaller. XS is still oversized and very roomy but sleeves are perfect length. I bought a few colours. All are beautiful and warm”.

However, some weren’t quite as pleased with their purchase. One said: “Such a shame, I’m a size 16 on top with 36G bust so ordered a medium considering this is described as oversized but the cut was a little too fitted for oversized. Would probably try a large but whilst it’s a lovely colour, the fit is too bulky/boxy for me. Sadly returning…”.

Meanwhile another struggled with the Oversized Mohair-Blend Jumper‘s material, writing: “I know there’s a lot of love for this jumper, but was the itchiest thing ever! There’s no way I could wear this without feeling super uncomfortable. It is oversized so would size down, if you want it to be super baggy just get your regular size”!

However others loved it, saying: “It’s a lovely jumper. I have the bright red from last winter which is my fave so I wanted to get another in a more neutral. This one, although the same composition of fabric doesn’t feel as good as the red from last year and hasn’t worn as nicely. It’s still good but it’s just not AS good. Will I buy another? Probably. I do really love them. I’m 5’8 and average to slim build and medium was great. Perfectly oversized”.

Iran and Russia sign $25bn nuclear plant deal

According to Iranian state media, Tehran and Moscow have reached a $25 billion contract to construct four nuclear power plants in southern Iran.

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to vote on Friday on a resolution that China and Russia support and calls for at least six months delay in imposing international sanctions on Iran under the so-called “snapback mechanism” over its nuclear program.

The deal, according to Iran’s IRNA news agency, includes the construction of four brand-new homes on a 500-hectare (1, 235-acre) lot in the Hormozgan Province, which is located across the Gulf from the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

5GW of electricity would be produced by Generation III power reactors, according to IRNA.

No number was provided when Rosatom, the country’s state nuclear agency, announced on Wednesday that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran regarding the construction of small nuclear power plants in Moscow.

In Bushehr, in the southern city of Iran, one nuclear power plant is currently operational, despite experiencing power shortages at times of high demand. It has a capacity of 1 GW, which was also constructed by Russia.

Iran and Russia have close ties. In June, Moscow categorically condemned US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Iran was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, Israel claimed at the time, without providing any proof. Tehran has long been suspected of using its nuclear energy facilities as a cover by Western nations.

Iran insists that this is not the intention. Tehran will “never attempt to build a nuclear bomb,” according to President Masoud Pezeshkian, who reiterated this week’s statement at the UN General Assembly.

Russia has also criticized the UN’s decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran and supported diplomacy to keep the 2015 nuclear deal in place.

England face Canada at Twickenham on Saturday in the Women’s Rugby World Cup final.

The Red Roses are on a record 32-game winning run and are seeking to win the World Cup for a third time – and for the first since beating Canada in the 2014 final.

Canada are 95% of the way towards their million-dollar fundraising goal entitled ‘Mission: Win Rugby World Cup’ – which was set up to help them compete with the world’s best-funded teams.

John Mitchell’s England, ranked number one in the world, are favourites to win the tournament and will have the support of the majority of the 82,000 fans at a sold-out Twickenham.

However, they will face a side who are arguably in better form and who comfortably dispatched holders New Zealand in the semi-finals.

Will it be England captain Zoe Aldcroft or Canada skipper Alex Tessier who lifts the trophy?

England’s pack v Canada’s backs.

The Red Roses’ dangerous backline failed to fully click in the semi-final win over France, relying on two individual scores from full-back Ellie Kildunne.

It was the pack and replacements who stepped up in the second half to help secure a final spot, whereas Canada’s backs showed their class by carving up the Black Ferns.

McKenzie: “Canada showed last week they could dispatch the world’s best backline and arguably they now have the world’s best backline.

“Canada have a back three that really like to crash and bang. They love it. How will England show up against that?

“I think it could be a determining factor this weekend.”

Merchant: “England have the best pack in the world. Canada have the second. It is pretty close.

“It is about how you get those backlines functioning.”

Orchard: “England will want a set-piece game. They will be craving scrums and line-outs. They will want to use their kicking game. Canada won’t. They like to run.

“Canada have conceded seven tries this tournament. England have conceded six. Those are the type of stats to hang your hat on as a team.

“This is going to be an incredible defensive match-up. Sometimes finals can be very ugly games and not always pretty games with loads of tries.”

Monye: “How deep can this Canadian starting XV go? How many minutes will they have to play on Saturday? Especially in the pack, those replacements are England’s super strength. I don’t think Canada can go as long or as deep.

‘The performance of a lifetime’ – stars to watch

England full-back Kildunne and Canada second row Sophie de Goede are the big stars of their respective teams, but who else might have a key role in deciding the winners?

Red Roses centre Meg Jones, who was not involved in the World Cup final defeat by New Zealand in 2022, was nominated for world rugby player of the year on Monday and is in exceptional form.

Canada’s lethal backs Alysha Corrigan and Florence Symonds are also players to keep an eye on.

Orchard: “I remember when Meg Jones announced she was coming back from sevens to 15s [in 2021] and I thought ‘that is the missing part of the puzzle’.

“She is by her nomination one of the best rugby players on the planet. She can do everything. I think we will see the performance of a lifetime come Saturday by Jones.

“She is a player that rises to the occasion on the biggest stage.”

McKenzie: “One of the key players in the Canada backline is centre Florence Symonds. She allows those wingers to play as abrasively.

“She has got great hand speed and is quite physical. Very skilled and balanced.

“Alysha Corrigan on the right wing is unsung in this tournament. She is ferocious in the collision.”

Monye: “I have thought about what would happen if Jones went down injured. She is so integral to the England team.

Final predictions

Alphonsi: “England will win but it is going to be close. I am going to say by two points.”

Merchant: “England win. They’ve been dominant for so long. Last year they were putting in amazing performances and everything was clicking.

“Watching the WXV tournament, there wasn’t a single team in the world that could beat them on form. The more you’ve seen teams show up this World Cup – like Canada – the more you get worried.”

Orchard: “By hook or by crook it will be ugly, but England will scrap themselves over the line.

“John Mitchell has had this England team for a number of campaigns. This is also his fifth World Cup as a coach – four with different men’s sides.

“He was hired to help manage the occasion and if they don’t come out with the trophy at the end there has got to be a big review and questions asked about the approach.

“The amount of money the RFU (Rugby Football Union) have pumped into women’s rugby – they should be winning a World Cup.”

McKenzie: “Canada. We are aware of the speed and intensity Canada will bring and they will start strongly as they have done throughout the tournament.

“England have not started fast. That is going to be a telling first 20 minutes, but the back 20 minutes are going to be the most impactful.”

Monye: “It will be an open game. When it is 50-50, as an Englishman, I have to say the Red Roses win.”

Thomas: “Canada. They have played much better rugby than England for the past five weeks and I think they have got such a grounded coach in Kevin Rouet and a strong connection.
