Eddie Murphy’s son marries Martin Lawrence’s daughter as couple elope in secret wedding

Former co-stars Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are now in-laws. It’s been announced that the actors’ respective children Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence have quietly got married, six months on from their engagement last year.

Eddie, 64 – who starred alongside Martin, 60, in the films Boomerang (1992) and Life (1999) – shared the news this week. The actor announced that his son Eric, 35, and Jasmin, 29, “ran off and got married” earlier this month during an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show today.

Speaking to to host Jennifer Hudson, 43, whom he starred alongside in Dreamgirls (2006), Eddie said: “They got married like two weeks ago. They went off … everybody was making the big wedding plans and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them. And then they got married.”

Shrek voice actor Eddie – who shares Eric with his former partner Paulette McNeely – joked that Martin no longer has to pay for a lavish wedding for his daughter. He teased: “Yeah, we’re in-laws. And he doesn’t have to pay for the big wedding now.”

He added: “They went off and they got married at the church. They just had the two of them and the preacher. [They had a] quiet little thing. So I think we’ll have like a big party or something, [as] they ran off and got married.”

Bad Boys star Martin – who shares Jasmin with his ex-wife Patricia Southall – previously teased that he was expected to pay for Eric and Jasmin’s wedding. He said that Eddie, who has ten children, covered the costs of the “last six weddings”.

Appearing on iHeartRadio’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood in December, Martin said: “Eddie said I gotta pay for it. He said I gotta pay for it, cause he paid for his last daughter’s wedding … like the last six weddings so … but he said it’s my turn now.”

Eddie’s had a music career over the years, including releasing the song Party All the Time in 1985. However, the Beverly Hills Cop actor insisted he will not be singing if Eric and Jasmin – who began dating in 2021 – have a wedding party. But, he didn’t rule out on performing a “duet” with Martin.

After Jennifer teased the idea of Eddie picking up a microphone and performing, he said: “No.” He later teased: “Martin will sing at the wedding.” When the prospect of a collaboration came up, he replied: “Do a duet. Yeah, maybe.”

Martin spoke about his son-in-law Eric on the talk show himself this week. He said: “He’s a great young man.” Asked who is more protective, himself or Eddie, he said: “I think we probably both are protective. We want the best for our children, but we let them do their own thing and make their choices.”

Jasmin announced her engagement to Eric in November last year. She wrote on Instagram at the time: “We’re engaged! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”

Israel is burning Gaza’s children. And the world lets it happen

The 36-year-old paediatrician and mother of 10 Dr. Alaa al-Najjar did what she had devoted her life to: rescuing children from Gaza’s Nasser Hospital on May 23. By nightfall, she was no longer a healer but a mourner, cradling the dismembered, charred remains of her own children, Yahya, Rakan, Ruslan, Jubran, Eve, Revan, Sayden, Luqman, and Sidra. Seven people died as a result. Sayden, her six-month-old, was among the others still buried beneath the rubble when Dr. al-Najjar kissed him goodbye that morning, and he is still there.

Her entire world was destroyed by one Israeli airstrike, lasting just one minute.

Her 40-year-old husband Hamdy, a doctor, and their 11-year-old son, Adam, are both in the ICU, and this is not a design defect. The healthcare system in Gaza is inruins because of repeated, deliberate targeting of hospitals and clinics. Twelve of Gaza’s most devoted nurses were killed one by one in a week.

Dr. Graeme Groom, a British surgeon who operated on the family, described the family’s condition as “penetrating injury to his head,” “adam’s left arm was just about hanging off, he was covered in fragment injuries and had several significant lacerations,” while referring to the father’s condition.

Her uncle claimed that nothing of her daughter Revan’s body could be identified because it was completely burned. Dr. Alaa begged rescuers to let her hold her daughter for one more time while she was crying.

Unfortunately, the number of children in Gaza who have been wrapped in white shrouds continues to grow.

Yaqeen Hammad is now one of those children who has been buried and buried.

Yaqeen, one of Gaza’s youngest social media influencers, was only 11 years old. She lived up to what the Israeli poet and scholar Rafeef Ziadah called “the ways of teaching life” in her short life. Desserts were made by Yaqeen. She delivered the food. She made children who had lost everything happy. She said to the world in one of her videos, “In Gaza, we don’t know the word impossible,” as she was preparing food. She committed this crime.

Israel decided that Yaqeen was in some way a threat to its existence on May 23 and the day Alaa’s children were being burned. She was killed when multiple air raids targeted her Deir el-Balah neighborhood and killed her. One of the 1,300 Palestinian children killed since Israel’s ceasefire was broken in March, and another of dozens in just 48 hours, was her.

The Empire State Building would be lit up for an Israeli influencer who had delivered food and toys to displaced children when she was killed, according to Dan Sheehan, editor at Literary Hub, in a comment on the moral double standards that Palestinians are subject to. Her image would appear on every major US news outlet’s homepage. Every politician would pick her name.

There is only silence for Yaqeen, though.

Riyad Mansour, a seasoned Palestinian diplomat at the UN, was so alarmed by the scale of the destruction that he cried during a statement. Danny Danon, his Israeli counterpart, yawned in response, according to video footage.

Israel yawns indifference in response to the deaths of Palestinian children. Unsurprising, given that a recent poll found that 82 percent of Jewish Israelis support the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza. Then, how can Palestinians be told to expect safety from Israeli military aid delivery stations and their children? How might the hand that kills turn into the hand that feeds, asks respected Gaza human rights lawyer Raji Sourani?

The Gaza Strip’s children are the victims, and Israel’s killing hands are doing it, which is, of course, impossible.

Ward al-Sheikh Khalil, a five-year-old girl who was sheltered at a UN school, is one of the lucky ones to avoid martyrdom. The classroom where her family was sleeping caught fires as she awoke. In the Israeli attack, her mother and siblings were killed. She was filmed trying to flee as the roof collapsed, and smoke and chaos engulfed her tiny body. When asked where her mother and siblings were, she murmured, “Under the rubble,” and was later saved by a doctor.

Another young girl’s body was half burned as she was pulled from beneath the classroom’s rubble. Will her suffering be enough to sway politicians’ hearts? How popular is she among girls? What number of boys? How many bodies will need to be identified and stopped before this genocide is named? Will the 18, 000 Palestinian children’s names, whose names we may never fully understand, be sufficient?

The Gaza Strip is the most dangerous place to be a child, according to UNICEF in December 2023. The organization reported that “1, 309 children have reportedly been killed and 3, 738 have been injured since the ceasefire’s end on March 18.” Since October 2023, more than 50 000 children have reportedly died or been hurt. How many more dead boys and girls will there be? What level of horror must be recorded live before the international community fully reaches out, exerts its influence, and takes bold, decisive action to put an end to this child-righteous killing?

All necessary emergency measures are typically taken to save lives when a building is on fire. No efforts are spared. The cries of a 9-year-old napalmed child, Phan Thi Kim Phuc, sparked global efforts to end the conflict in Vietnam. An entire continent was displaced by the 3-year-old boy’s body, which was named Alan Kurdi. However, in Gaza, girls who are escaping from the rubble, pulled from the rubble, and burned beyond recognition are insufficient to compel action.

The world turns its head in Gaza when children are caught in the constant bombardment. No amount of suffering or suffering seems to motivate the world’s leaders to act immediately to expel this bloody rage.

Why did burning girls matter in Vietnam but not in Gaza, according to Jehad Abusalim, the executive director of the Institute for Palestine Studies USA, in blatant clarity? The napalmed girl running down a road in Vietnam was a singular instance of American conscience. However, “every single day there are dozens of “napalm girl” moments in Gaza.” These images are live, unfiltered, and relentless, not filtered through distant photo wires or delayed coverage. There is sufficient evidence in the world. It is engulfed in it. Why, then, does it not react?

The 1,200 Israeli academics who have signed a protest letter that is focused on Palestinian suffering offer one glint of hope. We can’t say we didn’t know, which is reflected in a very straightforward statement. You can’t say you didn’t know, let these words pierce the conscience of every politician and diplomat in the Western world.

‘Mozart of tennis’ Gasquet bows out in Paris

French Open 2025

Location: Roland Garros, May 25 – June

Richard Gasquet took a significant step forward with just one small step, Jannik Sinner’s.

The Frenchman’s playing career came to an end when he defeated Gasquet, 38, 6 (6) 6-4, to win the match on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Nearly 30 years after Gasquet’s famous terracotta court performance was first brought to the attention of the country, Roland Garros’ terracotta courts served as a fitting setting for the sentimental farewell.

His ravishing backhand will be Gasquet’s lasting legacy. His success will be largely determined by the joy his signature shot brought, especially to the adoring French public, not by Slam wins.

Gasquet’s backhand was ranked as the fifth-best single-hander of the Open era by Tennis.com in 2023.

It referred to it as possibly “the most visually appealing one-handed backhand drive of that time.” Only the top three scorers, Stan Wawrinka, Ken Rosewall, Justine Henin, and Federer, outnumber Gasquet.

When the then-President of the French Tennis Federation, Lionel Faujare, compared a 15-year-old Gasquet to Mozart, not without reason.

When Tennis Magazine published him on their cover at the age of nine, Gasquet became well-known in France under the title “Richard G. Nine years old. The winner France has awaited”?

It was difficult to live up to the billing standard.

When he was 12 years old, he defeated Rafael Nadal in the junior Les Petits As competition, but the result was 18-0 in Nadal’s favor. Novak Djokovic had a 1-13 record against him and Roger Federer had a 2-19 record.

Tatiana Golovin and Gasquet won the senior mixed doubles at Roland Garros as teenagers in 2004 and the French Open and US Open junior singles titles.

He won 16 ATP titles, a Davis Cup with France in 2017, and an Olympic doubles bronze medal at London 2012, and he also won two Grand Slam semi-finals, including two at Wimbledon.

He successfully argued that he was unknowingly contaminated after kissing a woman, known as Pamela, in a Miami nightclub after testing positive for cocaine in March 2009.

He placed seventh in the world rankings, matching Federer’s record-setting ATP victories in 24 straight seasons.

What they said about Gasquet

Franck Ramella, the tennis writer and biographer for L’Equipe, writes:

He seems content with his career, I believe. because he never claimed to be the champion of the world.

He never lived up to what others had hoped for him to be. The expectations were what made things complicated for him.

There was a lot of hope,” he said. There’s a sort of failure syndrome [in French tennis] because we’ve been waiting for a men’s champion since Yannick Noah [in 1983] at Roland Garros. So we put a lot of faith and intensity into it as soon as someone can win. He had a strong faith in France.

Sabrina Carpenter tipped for Mamma Mia sequel but fans are fuming at one detail

Sabrina Carpenter has been cast in a script for Mamma Mia 3 and is widely anticipated to play the lead role, but some fans are unsatisfied with the casting despite being an ABBA mega fan.

Pop superstar and multiple chart-topper Sabrina Carpenter has been tipped for an acting comeback as she takes on the lead role of the long-awaited Mamma Mia 3. The former Disney Channel star could follow in the footsteps of Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried and Lily James at the heart of the beloved franchise.

Fans eager to end the seven-year drought since Mamma Mia 2’s release may not have much more to wait. Judy Cramer, the writer behind the critically acclaimed West End series and its two highly acclaimed film spin-offs, has revealed she has written a script and is working on an ABBA-themed musical once more.

Speaking to Deadline, the producer hinted at Carpenter’s remarkable resemblance to both Seyfried and Streep’s original character: “She’d be a goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep,” she said. “We know what we want to do with the movie, and it will happen.”

Many fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment at the potential casting and her acting lack, despite the film’s tightly-kept secret plot.

One on X complained, “This is another form of nepotism with the casting of Sabrina,” and another, “I hate Hollywood because what do you mean she’s playing her mother-they look like sisters”!

Although there is criticism, the casting makes sense in terms of music, and it’s obvious that Carpenter, who is the author of some of the biggest music videos in recent years, like Please, Please, Please, Please to Espresso, is also a notorious ABBA fan.

The 26-year-old, who has previously performed some of the group’s songs while on tour, already has a chance to practice singing some of their hits. The Swedish duo’s two cats are named after the band’s legendary Benny and Björn, earning them a spot as one of her most popular Spotify tracks.

She already seems to have the cast on her side. Amanda Seyfried who plays Sophie, one of the main characters in the first two films has previously spoken about casting Carpenter: “Old age make-up for me. If Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I’ll make it happen. It’s fine. I’m a big fan,” she said.

Meghan Markle’s tough week – ‘hot wife’ claims, Vogue ‘demands’ and jam mystery

Meghan Markle has faced criticism for her “outrageous” demands in the Vogue and a response from a commentator who urged the Duchess of Sussex to “give us the tea.”

For all the wrong reasons, Meghan Markle has been making headlines this week.

First, the Duchess of Sussex was rocked when an alleged list of outrageous demands – which lost her the chance to appear on the front cover of fashion bible Vogue – was leaked. According to claims, Meghan piled so much pressure on the then-editor of Vogue UK Edward Enninful ahead of a potential appearance in the UK Vogue September 2022 issue that the pair fell out.

Meghan, 43, had been working with Edward on a collaboration for the prestigious fashion issue that would include her keynote appearance at the One Young World Summit in Manchester, along with “involved extensive features across the magazine and its digital editions”.

However, the duchess allegedly requested that the global cover of Vogue be present on both the US and UK versions at the same time and even allegedly appealed to Anna Wintour in a bid to persuade her. Her US staff nicknamed her “Duchess Difficult.”

A source tells Page Six that she then demanded a list of six demands from Enninful.

They stated that “Meghan requested control over [the] photographer, writer, final edit, photos, cover letters, and wanted a global issue.” Nobody understands that. Not even Beyonce.

However, Enninful already had supermodel Linda Evangelista booked for the cover of Ennisfall in September 2022, and he is said to have been unwavering about keeping her.

According to the outlet, his stance reportedly caused Meghan to pull the plug on their scheduled movie and caused their disagreement.

Then, according to her, she demanded a call from US Vogue editor Anna and attempted to persuade her to listen to her ideas during a scheduled Zoom call.

However, Anna had already agreed to work with Serena Williams, one of Meghan’s closest friends and close family, to be US Vogue’s cover for that issue, and reportedly politely declined Meghan’s offer.

The source continued, “Anna wasn’t interested.” Anna responded politely by asking for a Zoom with her to think about it.

Enninful was upset when Meghan resigned after learning she would no longer appear on British Vogue’s front page, according to the Daily Mail.

Enninful failed to live up to those expectations, according to an insider who stated that the duchess and her team had high hopes for her publication.

He already had the magazine cover that month in his bag. Both Edward and the Condé Nast power brokers were furious that they had lost the project.

The process “came across very challenging,” the source continued. Although Edward could only have said “she wanted to get a big showy feature in the magazine and online,” she turned it down.

Elsewhere, journalist and commentator Esther Krakue hit out at the mum of two, harshly suggesting that Meghan should lean into her status as a “hot” woman who married a prince, rather than trying to frame herself as a thought leader with a “particularly niche view of the world.”

Meghan appeared on the Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast recently, where the Duchess of Sussex admitted she wasn’t sure what to put on a resume, and Krakue made a comment on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show.

Let’s be honest, Krakue bluntly stated, “She’s never had to write a resume.”

Krakue then criticized Meghan’s attempts to advance complex social issues. She said, “She views the world through a very peculiar lens.” She attempts to portray herself as a champion of women, but she shoehorns a far more nuanced, narrow perspective into issues.

Krakue suggested that many of the duchess’s ventures have not been especially well-received.(Image: meghan/Instagram)

Given her fame and wealth, Krakue’s main argument was that Meghan shouldn’t make her public persona complicated. “You’re hot. You wed a prince, right? Give the tea to us. All that she needs from us is, she said.

Referencing Meghan’s recent projects – including her podcast Archetypes and her Netflix series With Love – Krakue suggested that many of the duchess’s ventures have not been especially well-received. And that her millions mean that her business offerings are ‘low risk’.

She added that she wished her “every success,” and that her criticisms weren’t stemming from her own animosity.

Krakue came to the conclusion that Meghan might be trying too hard to project a perception that disintegrates with her reality. She doesn’t practice chemistry. She doesn’t study physics. And that’s fine, she said. It’s “always okay to just be pretty and have good fortune in life,” according to the saying.

Meghan also this week gave an update on her sold-out As Ever products, hinting that they might not be restocked straight away.

As Ever Raspberry Jam
Meghan said she’s not in a rush to restock her As Ever jams (Image: INTERNET)

When the Duchess of Sussex launched her products, including her jam, honey and flower sprinkles earlier this year as part of her As Ever range, they sold out in just over 30 minutes.

Since then those who were unable to get their hands on the items have been patiently waiting for the As Ever website to be restocked. However, in a new interview, Meghan told of how instead of simply restocking, she wants to “take a step back, gather data and figure out what As Ever could be.”

Speaking to Fast Company, she revealed that new products were expected in the first quarter of next year. And teasing what they could be, she explained: “I want to really focus on the hospitality angle of As Ever, but as we take the learnings, we can understand what the customer’s needs are seasonally.”

As Ever may one day intend to sell items like cookbooks, tableware, and cutlery, according to a trademark application for the company. However, she continued, adding that she wants to also be interested in fashion. She continued, “I’ll look into the category of fashion at a later time because I think that’s an intriguing area for me.”
