Peter Pan live-action stars reunite 22 years on to play lovers in rom-com

The former teen star of the 2003 live-action version of Peter Pan, Jeremy Sumpter, who you may have fallen in love with, will make his big screen debut in 20 years, along with none other than Wendy Darling, who Rachel Hurd-Wood aka plays her.

When Peter and Wendy appeared in Universal’s 2003 hit as young love interests, the pair were 14 and 13 respectively. They are all set to return in a romantic comedy that also marks Sumpter’s directorial debut.

The movie is based on a true event and follows a “dedicated horse enthusiast” played by Hurd-Wood and the unsuccessful stock market trader who use their savings to pursue a dream in Mexico.

The pair’s roles in Peter Pan (Universal Pictures) received a lot of praise.

The characters embark on a journey that they are determined will improve their lives by calling Strawberry Roan and setting out to establish a horse sanctuary in Mexico. However, their love and drive conflict, and they both come to terms with the fact that the reward they want for their future isn’t “the trust, courage, and connection they rediscover along the way,” Deadline claims.

Sumpter expressed his excitement about his “first feature as a director,” but also how “the fact that I get to share it with Rachel makes it even more special.”

He claimed on Deadline: “Reuniting after all these years feels like a homecoming of sorts because we forged such a strong bond with Peter Pan.” Making things again with someone who played a significant role in my early life brings a profoundly full circle. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to tell a story together, but I’m also completely overwhelmed.

Spandau Ballet legend admits he can ‘hardly walk’ as he makes tour changes

Tony Hadley, who rose to fame in the 1980s as the frontman of the legendary band, has spoken out about a painful health condition and how he will need surgery in 2026.

A Spandau Ballet legend has reportedly been forced to arrange his gigs around a “desperately needed operation” after revealing details of a health struggle. In 2023, Tony Hadley, who rose to stardom as the frontman of the new wave group during the 1980s, was reportedly compelled to withdraw from a festival following what he termed a “serious fall” whilst in Italy.

The incident left him with a knee injury requiring “major” surgery. Medical professionals advised him to “minimise all travel” to prevent potential “complications”. During a February appearance on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch with Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer the following year, he provided more insight into his ordeal.

He claimed that the south of Italy, where he was performing, “let a lot of water go on the tiled floor,” and that he slipped. He claimed that the agonizing incident had caused his leg to “rip off” and have a “fractured patella” (kneecap) and that it had “ripped the tendons off” as a result.

Tony explained that while things initially “went a lot better,” things “had subsequently “gone a little pear-shaped,” and that he was scheduled to “have a big clean out” prior to surgery, which also led to difficulties in his recovery.

It appears Tony is still battling problems with his knee. In fact, he recently revealed to The Mail’s Richard Eden that he’s set to “get a new” one in 2026.

In fact, according to Richard’s account, Tony has apparently found himself having to center his performances around a “desperately needed operation.” “Rockers never seem to retire these days, but touring can be grueling for older stars,” wrote Richard. “

Tony Hadley, whose Broadway hits include Gold and True, continued, “Tony told me he had scheduled his shows around a desperately needed operation.” “

At the Magic Of Christmas concert at the London Palladium, Tony revealed to him: “I get a new knee (next year). I can (hardly) walk on it, so I get a new knee after the tour.”

He further explained his knee injury on Sunday Brunch in 2024, explaining that despite having them changed for a different date, he was scheduled to join the Swing Tour in March of that year and that he “had to cancel a few shows in Italy.”

When questioned about whether his discomfort had subsided, he said, “hurts.” Tony insisted that “No, I don’t need any sympathy — really! ” This sparked a chorus of “awws!” “

Posting on X at the time if the Italian incident, Tony wrote: “You may be aware that I had minor accident yesterday and injured my knee. I am being very well looked after by the medical team here in Italy and wanted to thank everyone for their kind words of support.”

Over the summer, Tony described the Spandau Ballet reunion as “bloody difficult” due to his reported feud with former bandmate Gary Kemp (the brother of I’m A Celeb’s Martin Kemp), according to the Independent. The group, which initially split in 1987, reunited in 2009, but Tony left just six years later.

He accused his bandmates of doing things they called “not the behavior of friends,” according to the publication, but he has allegedly kept the details a secret. He addressed the i: “God, that was bloody challenging. I and Gary are always at the center. A band always has two members who fallout.

Clarke fighting for career in GB title bout – Tshikeva

As they bickered at a tense news conference, heavyweight Jeamie “TKV” Tshikeva said Frazer Clarke is “fighting for his career.”

On Saturday, they will battle it out for the vacant British heavyweight title at Derby’s Vaillant Arena, which will be broadcast live on BBC Two starting at 2:00 GMT.

The fight had been scheduled for October 25 but TKV suffered a rib injury, so it was postponed.

The delay gave TKV the ability to “buy more time,” Clarke, 34, claimed.

“I feel like I’m fighting, if anything, to advance my career. There will be significant fights following this one,” Clarke retorted.

When the two men met for the British title in March of 2024, “Big Fraze” and current WBO champion Fabio Wardley squared off against each other in the first round of their follow-up rematch, which Clarke only lost to in 11 professional fights.

A victory over Wardley on Saturday, according to Clarke, could give them a chance to fight in a trilogy.

“Oh my god, I’d take that opportunity with both hands,” Clarke said.

Four security guards were involved in an intense staredown that ended the conference in Derby.

Never refer to me as a ‘wannabe gangster’

Although TV and Clarke previously had verbal altercations on social media, they both appeared to have moved on and discussed the “responsibility” of bringing boxing to free-to-air television. However, the withdrawal of TKV rekindled previous tensions.

In response to a contentious media interview earlier this week, TKV claimed that “he has a persona – he’s a good guy in front of the cameras, but he makes cheeky comments behind the scenes.”

TKV’s alleged retribution for being a “thug” angered him particularly.

Never again do you refer to me as a thug in your life. Never refer to him as a liar.

“I’m a professional boxer, a family man, and a Uni graduate.”

Don’t try to act like it then, Clarke, a resident of Burton-upon-Trent, said. Why can’t I joke about my father, “Are you my dad?”?

Don’t let anyone label you a thug, Londoner TVK retorted, “Any young children from inner cities, don’t let anyone call you a thug.”

Boxxer

The fight is the first instance of a new partnership between Boxxer and BBC Sport, which will be broadcast live on BBC Two and iPlayer.

French international champion and former world champion atomweight Fabiana Bytyqi from the Czech Republic will be Francesca Hennessy’s main opponent.

Hennessy, who has won all six of her professional fights and is renowned for her showmanship and dancing during ring walks, declared that she would “shine under the lights.”

In 20 years, BBC Linear will be broadcasting a boxing match on the card.

Hennessy could surpass Gabriela Fundora’s record, which was broken by 22-year-old Mexican Gabriela Fundora, according to promoter Ben Shalom.

Can Trump ban South Africa from 2026 G20 summit, as he says he will?

As the relationship between the two countries continues to be strained, US President Donald Trump has announced he will prevent South Africa from attending the G20 summit in the coming year.

19 of the Group of 20 countries, plus the European Union, and the current African Union, make up the group. The group’s members meet throughout the year, but a country that holds its presidency also holds an annual summit.

Trump made the decision to abstain from the G20 summit that was being held last week in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has charged that the nation is staging a “white genocide” against white farmers and communities.

The US will host the G20 summit in 2015 as the group’s next leader.

Trump claimed in a post earlier this month that it was “total disgrace” that South Africa’s hosting of this year’s summit, the first to be held in an African country, was “total disgrace.”

Trump reiterates a claim that South Africa has condemned and for which there is no proof, saying that “Afrikaners are being killed and slaughtered, and their land and farms are being illegally confiscated.”

As long as these human rights abuses continue, no US government official will be present. The 2026 G20 in Miami, Florida is a “dream come true” event I’m hosting. he continued.

Trump made the announcement on Wednesday that South Africa would not be invited to the upcoming G20 summit in another Truth Social post.

Trump’s statement: What and why?

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa ended the two-day summit last weekend without passing the gift, as customary, to the next nation taking the presidency.

In his closing remarks on Sunday, Ramaphosa said, “This summit officially closes this summit and moves on to the next president of the G20, which is the United States, where we will see each other again next year.”

He claimed Ramaphosa refused to hand the gift to the person despite Trump’s claim that he had sent one from the US embassy in South Africa at the last minute.

Trump also made repeated claims on Wednesday that the US did not travel to the summit because, in his view, the government of South Africa had refused to “acknowledge or address the horrific Human Rights abuses endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers.”

They are killing white people and randomly allowing them to rob their farms, to put it more bluntly. Worse of all, he claimed, the New York Times and Fake News Media, which are about to go out of business, won’t say anything about this genocide.

South Africa “refused to hand off the G20 Presidency to a Senior Representative from our US Embassy, who was present at the G20 Closing Ceremony.” Therefore, in my opinion, South Africa will not be invited to the 2026 G20, which will take place in Miami, Florida, the following year.

“We will stop all payments and subsidies to them immediately because South Africa has shown the world that it is not a country that deserves membership anywhere.” I appreciate you paying attention to this issue. the president enlarging.

After China, the US is South Africa’s second-largest single-country trading partner. According to the Office of the US Trade Representative, in total goods and services trade between the two nations reached $ 26.2% in 2024.

What has South Africa done to make a decision?

Trump’s choice was described as “regrettable” in a statement released by Ramaphosa’s office on Thursday.

“South Africa belongs to the G20 in its own right and name. All other G20 members are at their own risk.

South Africa is a sovereign, democratic, and constitutionally democratic nation that does not object to insults from other nations for its contribution to global platforms. South Africa will never disparage another nation or its standing within the global community.

President Trump continues to use punitive measures against South Africa based on false information and distortions about our country, regretting the statement’s conclusion.

The G20 is what?

Following the Asian financial crisis of 1997, the group was established by 19 nations and the EU as a forum to discuss global economic issues.

Its other members include the African Union, which formally merged with Argentina at the 2023 summit in India, Brazil, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkiye, and the United Kingdom, as well as the African Union, which formally incorporated as a 21st member.

There are also frequently invited guests from other nations, with 42 of them this year. Karol Nawrocki, president of Poland, claimed Trump had already invited him to the meeting in September.

No member state has ever been denied access to the summit up until now.

However, former US President Joe Biden claimed that Russia should be expelled from the G20 because of its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, but that claim was never fulfilled.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, was escorted to an event instead, prompting Sergey Lavrov, his foreign minister, to show up. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has an arrest warrant for the war in Ukraine.

Maxim Oreshkin, the deputy head of the presidential administration, was present at this year’s meeting in Johannesburg. &nbsp,

Following its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, Russia was expelled from the Group of Seven (G7), before becoming known as the G8.

Trump may impose a G20 member’s ban on the annual summit.

Officially speaking, not. There is no formal mechanism for a G20 member state to unilaterally outlaw another because it is a group of informal states and bodies.

Trump may still grant South African representatives US visas, which would entail a ban on them from the nation and, consequently, the summit.

Why does Trump assert that there is a “white genocide” in South Africa?

Trump has frequently made allegations that there are white farmers in South Africa who are being killed in what he refers to as “genocide” since taking office in January.

Trump has continued to defend his claims despite being refuted by both South African officials and Afrikaner organizations.

Since the end of apartheid in South Africa in 1994, unfounded rumors of a rumored “white genocide” have been spreading among minority, white communities. They have been popular in far-right circles in the US for ten years and have attracted the vocal backing of Elon Musk, a Trump ally and tech billionaire from South Africa.

Trump bases his assertions on the passage of a new law in South Africa that addresses land ownership disparities. More than 30 years after the end of apartheid, the white minority in the country still owns a third of the land, but South Africa claims the new law doesn’t discriminate against white landowners.

Experts believe that the Trump administration’s decision to cut foreign aid to South Africa in February could pose a serious threat to the country’s HIV response.

In response to the nation’s Expropriation Act, which allows for the seized and redistributed of land, he also signed the Executive Order “Addressing Egregious Actions of the Republic of South Africa.”

Trump blasted the alleged government actions that “promoted disproportionate violence against racial dissentioning landowners” and “equal opportunity in employment, education, and business” in the order.

In addition, Trump made an offer to resettle Afrikaners in the US, and in May, 59 white South Africans emigrated as part of a refugee program.

The ICJ’s decision to prosecute South Africa for its genocide of Gaza was also condemned in the order.

Ramaphosa disputed claims of a “white genocide” and said South Africa typically has high rates of violent crime, which affects all ethnic groups during a&nbsp, heated exchange with Trump at the White House in May.

Norris ‘relaxed’ before maiden title bid in Qatar

Lando Norris claims he is “relaxed” ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, which could be his first race as world champion.

By 24 points, Max Verstappen leads teammate Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

If the Briton can surpass both of his rivals over the course of the weekend in Doha, he will win.

When I’m 24 points ahead, Norris said, “I feel just as relaxed as I did when I was 35 points behind the lead.” That is my current strength.

Verstappen has a formidable fightback against the Dutch Grand Prix, which was followed by Italy, by 104 points.

Norris remarked, “My current state feels the same as it did before Mexico when I wasn’t in charge.” When Max still had a good time in the car, Austin still felt better, but Max still won the race.

“I really don’t feel any different in the car now that I’m leading.”

Since Zandvoort, which ended in August, Piastri has not won a race. Verstappen has won four and Norris has won two since then.

After it was determined that the skid blocks on their cars had worn too much, both McLaren drivers were hit by being exempt from the Las Vegas Grand Prix last weekend.

Without that, Norris would have been entering Qatar with a 30-point lead over Piastri, but the 26-year-old said it was not difficult to get over the disappointment of losing second place in Vegas.

He said, “Of course, it hurts.” Every weekend, everyone puts a lot of effort into it, including myself. All of that work just seemed to vanish very quickly.

“But we all share the same sentiment,” he continued. What we had as a result leaves everyone in McLaren, including the mechanics, the engineers, and myself. And we’re all disappointed.

“But actually, I just had a few days off and came to this weekend and found it quite simple.” Yes, I’m disappointed, of course. But otherwise, I was fine.

The team, according to Norris, will make an effort to treat this race the same way everyone else does.

He said, “We treat it very normally.” Because we’ve been doing a good job and I’m very pleased with the work we’ve all been doing, there’s no need to try to treat it any differently.

Still a possibility for Piastri

Oscar Piastri answers questions in the media pen in Qatar Images courtesy of Getty

Piastri acknowledged that he would require fortune in order for the gap to close.

He continued, “There is still a chance,” and it has already been played out that way a few times. Therefore, I am aware that it is possible.

It’s obvious that it’s a little bit of an outside shot, but I’m also aware of that. I can’t just rely on that, even if my final two weekends are perfect. I am aware of the fact that I need other things to happen.

“So, I’m just going to try to have the best weekends possible, which I try to do every weekend, and see what happens to everyone else, essentially.

Piastri said he was confident he would be strong in Qatar despite having struggled for pace in a number of recent races.

He responded, “Confident, I would say.” I’ve done well at it in the past, and it’s a circuit I’ve enjoyed.

Even though the race was what it was and there were some mistakes, Vegas was still looking reasonable from a pace standpoint when I had clean air to use my pace when I just qualified for the end of Q3.

“I believe we’ve already seen a lot of improvements in those kinds of low-grip conditions,” he said, “but obviously this circuit is much different, much higher speed, very grippy Tarmac, pretty consistent, maybe some wind around, but at least we’ve found a lot of improvement.” So, yes, we’re optimistic that things will turn out well.
