Chiefs of Exeter went top of The Prem. as they staged a stirring second-half fightback to steal victory off Sale Sharks.

Sale led 26-6 when George Ford converted Alex Wills’ second try after 46 minutes.

Before Australia prop Scott Sio was found to have crossed the line, and Henry Slade kicked the conversion, Jack Yeandle and Olly Woodburn made two quick tries to bring them within a converted score.

With their point difference victory, Exeter moved above Northampton Saints to claim their first away league win since April 2024.

Tom Curry and Tom Hooper both received yellow cards, but the home team had the only try of the first half thanks to Luke James, who had led 19-6.

With Sale leading in the region’s typical Friday night weather, a win for the Devon side appeared unlikely in the opening moments.

As England’s fly-half Ford kicked four penalties to Slade’s two in the 40th minute, the two yellow cards for Exeter constituted an attrition and confrontational match.

Full-back James was the only try of that time who burst onto Rob du Preez’s skillful pass to score close to the posts.

The home side then looked poised to win when Wills ran over a subpar tackle to touch down in the corner.

The Chiefs were immediately revived after Yeandle burrowed over from close range after two tries in seven minutes, before Woodburn, who had done some good work with him and Dafydd Jenkins, put together a spectacular athletic finish in the corner.

Curry once more in the spotlight

Curry, an England flanker, was the other subject of conversation in the first half.

Just five days prior, he was a part of a tackle against Argentina that caused Juan Cruz Mallia to injure his right cruciate ligament.

After the match, Pumas head coach Felipe Contepomi called the flanker a “bully,” claiming there had been a fight in the tunnel between the pair.

Midweek, Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson laughed off the description, but his player was immediately in the limelight when he made his club’s debut this year.

Josh Hodge, a full-back at Exeter, was hit with a thunderous kick, but after a TMO review, Curry was sent off for the tackle that was deemed too high.

We lost all the scraps, the post-game remark.

Director of rugby for Sale Sharks, Alex Sanderson, stated:

It’s very difficult to accept, to be honest. The final thirty seconds were completely reversed.

We also lost some close calls to our lines, lost all the scraps, lost all the territory, and on top of that, Exeter were able to recover for some relatively easy tries.

We clearly didn’t manage to snatch back momentum in the final 30 minutes, which you must do in your own way.

You have to be good enough to win a game, though, saying that “George (Ford) going off undoubtedly had an impact on us and some of our game management.”

Rob Baxter, the rugby director for Chiefs of Exeter, said:

Sale simply don’t lose their rugby matches here, saying, “They’re very good here.” Because they had control over discipline, territory, and the way the game was to be played, they were first demonstrating why.

“George Ford did a fantastic job. He constantly attacked us, which put us under pressure.

I don’t believe we kicked once in the first half, aside from restarts. That provided a tactical explanation of where we were going wrong.

“Playing against Sale under some pressure or in your own territory is a recipe for disaster.”

Sale Sharks: James, O’Flaherty, R du Preez, Ma’asi-White, Wills, Ford, Warr, McIntyre, Cowan-Dickie, Opoku-Fordjour, van Rhyn, Bamber, Vermeulen, T Curry, D du Preez, and others.

Jibulu, Onasanya, Harper, Burrow, Andrews, Quirke, Louw, Grace, and others.

Sin-bin: T Curry (5)

Hodge, Feyi-Waboso, Slade, Ikitau, Woodburn, Skinner, Chapman, Goodrick-Clarke, Dweba, Iosefa-Scott, Jenkins, Zambonin, Hooper, Roots, Fisilau, are Chiefs of Exeter.

Yeandle, Sio, Tchumbadze, Pearson, James, Cairns, Haydon-Wood, and Hammersley are the replacements.

I’m A Celeb’s Shona McGarty’s mum speaks out ‘lovely’ Aitch romance

Shona McGarty’s mum appears to have given Aitch her seal of approval after the actress and musician had grown close on I’m A Celebrity amid rumours of romance

Shona McGarty’s mum has given Aitch her seal of approval. In recent weeks, there has been speculation that the former EastEnders star and Manchester musician could be about to embark on a camp romance.

Last week, Aitch revealed to his pal Angryginge that he had a “soft spot” for the actress who found fame playing Whitney Dean on the BBC One soap opera. And they’ve continued to bond, engaging in a pillow fight, with Aitch also wrapping his legs around Shona.

Now, her mum, Jennifer, has given the musician her seal of approval and admits that she would happily have him around to join the family for dinner. Weeks before jetting to Australia, Shona called off her engagement to Irish musician David Bracken, who first slid into her DMs two years ago.

“She has relaxed into it now which obviously makes me really happy,” her mum Jennifer said. She went on to admit that she loved seeing Shona’s bubbly personality come out during the pillow fight and the actress being her “natural self.”

And after Shona and Aitch were spotted holding hands, the rumours, championed by hosts Ant and Dec continued to go into overdrive. Speaking to The Sun, Jennifer added: “I think they are very similar characters, they’ve both got that playfulness. He is a lovely boy. We would definitely invite him over for dinner.”

Earlier this week, Shona’s sister, Camila, told the Mirror that she needed to see more of her sibling and Aitch to determine whether there was a romantic connection. She said: “I don’t know if I see it romantically… It might just be a brother and sister relationship but I don’t know…I don’t think we have seen enough to make a definite decision on it.”

Fans on social media have also been championing a romantic relationship between Shona and Aitch after watching their friendship blossom. “May as well put Aitch and Shona together. They fancy f**k out each other,” said one. A second added: “Shona getting Aitch to look into her eyes this the moment they fall in love?”

Meanwhile, a third typed: “My hopeless romantic self says Aitch lost the trial vs Ainge on purpose so he could go home with Shona.” While a fourth added: “Me getting giddy every time Aitch and Shona interact, and now they’re staring into each other’s eyes.”

Aitch is also single after splitting with Lois Cottam before going into the Jungle. A source told the Sun over the weekend: “Aitch and Lois still have a lot of love for each other but they decided they are better off as friends.

“They enjoyed the time they spent together, things ended amicably between them. There’s no bad blood and she hopes he does well in the jungle.”

Dec previously said he was shell-shocked by Aitch’s comments when he watched the scenes shortly before they aired on Friday night. He said: “This came completely out of the blue this morning.” Ant added: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper romance on this show. We’d love to see it….we would celebrate it.”

Palestinians forced into lockdown as Israel’s West Bank assault continues

A human rights organization warns that the Israeli military is continuing to carry out extensive, deadly raids on the territory, forcing entire Palestinian communities into lockdown in some areas of the occupied West Bank.

Due to the Israeli military’s fear of violence, which the organization, which launched an intensified operation earlier this week, led to the release of a report from Save the Children on Friday.

The child rights organization claimed that the lockdowns “keep kids out of school, put families at risk, and increase the risk of physical violence and child detention from the Israeli military.”

Beginning on Wednesday, Israeli troops began a series of significant raids in other cities and towns in the occupied West Bank, including Jenin, and placed a large portion of the northeastern Tubas governorate under Israeli control.

Since the raids began, Israeli forces have inflicted dozens of injuries in the Tubas area, according to a report released Friday by the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Residents claim that the military has launched arbitrary attacks against civilians, blocked journalists and ambulances, and damaged infrastructure as a result of Israel’s claim that the operation is aimed at eradicating Palestinian armed groups.

A video of two unarmed Palestinian men being killed by Israeli forces in Jenin on Thursday, which was filmed, has also received widespread condemnation.

“Systematic assault”

In the wake of Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians in the nearby Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of nearly 70, 000 Palestinians since October 2023, there has been a rise in Israeli military and settler violence in the occupied West Bank.

Since Israel’s occupation of Gaza began, more than 1, 000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army and settler attacks in the West Bank, according to the UN.

Since January, about 32, 000 residents of several refugee camps have been forced out of their homes and prevented by Israel from returning, making the northern West Bank particularly hit.

In what rights organizations and UN officials have described as a campaign to forcefully relocate Palestinians, the Israeli military has also engaged in extensive home demolitions.

The raids in the Tubas governorate, according to Ameer, who works for a West Bank-based Save the Children organization, are “a systematic assault by Israeli forces and a continuation of the Israeli government’s collective punishment policy.”

“The operation is preventing children from receiving essential services and supplies, including education and health care,” the operation claims. Every child in these regions is denied access to education, according to Ameer in a statement.

Gaza attacks

Despite a US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas that was signed last month, Israel has continued to attack Gaza.

A Palestinian was killed in Bani Suheila, a town east of Khan Younis, in an Israeli drone attack that was reported on Friday, along with several other Israeli attacks in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis and Rafah, according to a local medical report.

According to the most recent information from the enclave’s Ministry of Health, at least 347 Palestinians have been killed since the truce started on October 10.

The director of the government media office in Gaza, Ismail al-Thawabta, also reported on Friday that 535 Israeli violations had been documented since the ceasefire began.

Al-Thawabta claimed in a statement posted on Telegram that aid flow into the war-torn region is still significantly below what was agreed upon during the truce.

Only 35 percent of the nearly 28, 000 requested have been allowed by the Israeli occupation, making aid a tool of war instead of a legal or humanitarian obligation, he claimed.

Additionally, Cardoso added that the financial stability of the Nigerian banking sector is anticipated to grow into 2026 as a result of the most recent stress tests conducted within the subsector.

At the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN)’s 60th annual dinner in Lagos, the CBN governor made the statement during his keynote address.
