Announcing the sad news of his death, Mani’s family shared a post on Facebook which read: “IT IS WITH THE HEAVIEST OF HEARTS THAT I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THE SAD PASSING OF MY BROTHER GARY MANI MOUNFIELD. RIP RKID.”

Meanwhile in a post on X, his former bandmate from the Stone Roses Ian Brown wrote: “REST IN PEACE MANI X”. A statement issued on Ian McCulloch, lead vocalist of Liverpool rock band Echo and the Bunnymen’s social media read: “I’m absolutely gutted to hear the news about Mani, who I have always loved and always will love, deeply and forever. Mani was speaking on The Rockonteurs podcast in an interview which was published on October 19. He told hosts Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt he had seen Oasis four times on the current world tour.

Jessie J reveals plans to work with Kate Middleton on new charity project

Emotional Jessie J and Princess Kate were seen hugging on a red carpet after both previously being diagnosed with cancer – but there could be a joint project soon

Jessie J has revealed she will be working with Catherine, Princess of Wales, on a new project after the pair were seen bonding over their cancer experiences and grief in life.

The singer, 37, wore a black tracksuit to The Royal Variety Performance on Wednesday night and explained the baggy black hoody was a tribute to her close friend and security guard Dave Last who took his own life seven years ago. Her song I’ll Never Know Why is also about him.

Asked about meeting and hugging Princess Catherine on the red carpet, Jessie J she said: “It was lovely, honestly. I think the whole feeling for me was obviously so personal. I felt that I was Jessica. I wasn’t Jessie J.”

She added: “I was just purely there to, like, represent the people that feel lost and lonely and scared and that’s why I wore the sweatsuit to represent the people that are on the sofa feeling scared and alone and depressed and and it’s so beautiful what they’re doing.

“Kate and women just how they’re actually speaking up for people that feel suicidal and alone. And obviously, mum to mum, with breast cancer in the public eye, I wanted to acknowledge that.

“It wasn’t a moment that I even thought that people would even see, I was with her in that moment. It was lovely to have a second to just, honestly, give another mama a hug, see you.”

Jessie was out again 24 hours later and speaking at the ZYN Rolling Stone UK Awards, which took place at London’s Roundhouse on Thursday night. Asked if she would like to work on something with Princess Kate, Jessie nodded and then said discussions were already underway.

She added: “100 per cent. We spoke about it last night. I think that the most important thing is to just keep talking about suicide and making sure that it’s not something that people forget.

“The one thing I said yesterday, I said it today and it’s really struck with me is ‘I don’t want people to feel alone alone’. You know? They don’t have to.”

The previous evening the Princess of Wales had shared a touching moment with Jessie J as she and Prince William attended the Royal Variety Performance. The Price Tag singer who performed her new song, I’ll Never Know Why at the event, said she was prompted to give the royal a hug because of their shared experience of cancer.

Palestinians ‘squeezed’ as Israel moves beyond ‘yellow line’ in Gaza City

Dozens of Palestinian families are “besieged” in northern Gaza, local authorities say, as the Israeli military has repositioned its forces deeper into the enclave in violation of a United States-brokered ceasefire agreement.

Gaza’s Government Media Office said on Thursday that Israeli forces and tanks had advanced about 300 metres (984 feet) beyond the so-called “yellow line” in eastern Gaza City.

“The fate of many of these families remains unknown amidst the shelling that targeted the area”, the office said, adding that the expansion of the yellow line shows a “blatant disregard” for the ceasefire deal.

Set out in the agreement between Israel and Hamas, the yellow line refers to an unmarked boundary where the Israeli military repositioned itself when the deal came into effect last month.

It has allowed Israel, which routinely fires at Palestinians who approach the line, to retain control over more than half of the coastal territory.

Reporting from Gaza City on Thursday, Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary said Israeli soldiers were seen placing yellow blocks and signs to identify the new deployment line, deeper into the city’s eastern neighbourhood of Shujayea.

“But the entire boundary has not been marked, so many Palestinians do not know exactly where it is”, Khoudary said.

“With this latest advancement in Gaza City’s Shujayea, more Palestinians are unable to reach their homes. People say this is a cage, as they’re being pushed and squeezed into the western parts of Gaza”.

The Israeli military has not publicly commented on the reports that it has gone beyond the yellow line in violation of the ceasefire.

‘ When will this nightmare end? ‘

The move comes amid a surge in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip that have sown fear across the war-ravaged enclave.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said on Thursday morning that at least 32 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours and another 88 were wounded.

Medics said an Israeli air strike on a house in Bani Suheila, a town east of Khan Younis, killed three people, including a baby girl, and wounded 15 others.

Israel has violated the truce nearly 400 times since it came into force on October 10, according to an Al Jazeera analysis.

A displaced Palestinian man, 36-year-old Mohammed Hamdouna, told the AFP news agency that people are being killed daily in continued shelling.

“We are still living in tents. He claimed that all the basic necessities of life are still missing because the cities are rubble, crossings are still closed, and there are still no crossings.

Lina Kuraz, a 33-year-old resident of Tuffah east of Gaza City, also told AFP that she was concerned about the resumption of the war.
