As Liam Gallagher reunited with his brother Noel Gallagher on the stage for the first time in 16 years, he gave a heartwarming tribute to his dog during their first gig back. As they took the stage in Cardiff to open their iconic reunion tour, an image of the dog named Buttons was included in the visuals on the big screen behind the brothers.

Buttons has a wild life story of starting out homeless in Thailand to finding a home with one of the Oasis frontmen. Niall Harbison, who founded the Happy Doggo sanctuary in Thailand, explained the dog’s wonderful story online, which triggered a huge response from fans.

He explained that the dog Buttons was an abandoned puppy who walked into the sanctuary while it was being built and ended up getting adopted by none other than Liam Gallagher.

Naill wrote on X, formally known as Twitter, “Most people were probably looking at Liam Gallagher and Oasis on stage, Look a little closer and you’ll spot a dog called Buttons.

“Her’s is a remarkable story. Buttons was a little puppy who walked into our sanctuary in Thailand in the middle of the jungle just as it was getting built. She had been abandoned. She kept coming back daily for food and hoping for company.

“Day after day Buttons came back. I eventually took her in and put her up for adoption. Little did I know but Liam and his partner Debbie had been following. After a long process she was adopted to them in the UK. ”

The sweet dog could be seen in multicolours on the big screen with a button on either side of its adorable face while the brothers performed to a huge crowd.

Continuing the story, Naill added: “Buttons has grown into a beloved member of the family and landed on her paws. Liam has been a big supporter of We Are Happy Doggo, and donated his globe from the last tour to raise funds. ”

“I don’t think Buttons realises her dad is a rock star. She just loves her humans. So if you are wondering why there is a dog on the Oasis screens now you know. Well done Buttons. I think you can say you’ve made it when your dad has you on the big screen. ”

One person wrote in response: “She is a gorgeous dog! What a wonderful story! “, while another added: “Buttons is a rags-to-riches story, going from days of not knowing if a human would feed her, or kick her, to being queen of someone’s heart. She even looks regal. ”

In addition, Oasis delivered a touching tribute to the late footballer Diogo Jota. The Gallagher brothers performed their 1994 classic Live Forever in memory of Jota, who tragically passed away at the age of 28, along with his younger brother, following a devastating car crash on July 3.

Hamilton’s Ferrari ‘unbelievably tricky to drive’ in wet as he misses podium

Lewis Hamilton said the Ferrari he drove in the wet-dry British Grand Prix “was the most difficult car I’ve driven in these conditions”.

The seven-time champion finished fourth at Silverstone behind the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri and Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg.

The race started on a damp track which dried a little before a heavy rain shower and then dried again.

“The car was unbelievably tricky to drive. I think ultimately I learned a lot today, there’s lots to take from the day,” said Hamilton, who has won a record nine British Grands Prix.

“It’s only my second time driving in the wet in this car. I can’t even express to you how hard it is. It’s not a car that likes those conditions.

Hamilton said Ferrari had upgrades coming to the car in forthcoming races – these would follow a new floor that was introduced at the previous race in Austria.

The 40-year-old said he wanted “a consistent balance, a car that turns at a low speed, just a more stable car”.

He added: “We were looking great through this weekend. In practice. we were always right up there. Still weren’t able to fully extract everything in qualifying. And then the race is a little bit harder. So that’s where I want to get stronger. “

Hamilton’s third fourth place of the season means he is still to finish on the podium since joining Ferrari at the start of this season.

Team-mate Charles Leclerc finished second-last in 14th after making the wrong call to come in for slick tyres on a damp track after the formation lap. His race spiralled downhill from there.

Leclerc said: “We were kind of nowhere the whole race, and when I say nowhere it’s like really nowhere, I was a second off (the pace) and on top of that I was doing lots of mistakes.

“I was really struggling to keep the car on track so it was an incredibly difficult day. “

Team principal Frederic Vasseur said: “The main issue we had today was that we struggled a lot when we were in the dirty air to overtake.

The North Will Celebrate Me If I Am President — Peter Obi

2027 presidential aspirant Peter Obi says the northern region of Nigeria will celebrate him if he becomes president.

Obi, 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and a prominent member of the opposition coalition floated on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was a guest on Sunday Politics programme.

According to him, the greatest asset Nigeria has is in the 19 states domiciled in the northern region of the country, but the potential of the region with numerical voter strength and vast arable lands has been largely untapped because of the hydra-headed monster of insecurity.

Obi said, “We have voted for incompetence, we’ve voted for tribe, (and) we’ve voted for religion; let’s vote for competence.

“I want them to trust me. The biggest asset of this country is in the north, the uncultivated lands in the north. The criminality we face in the north today, I will deal with it.

“If I am president, the North will celebrate me. I have an idea of the problem. ”

The former Anambra State governor promised to be a president who cares, and a president who shows compassion”.

He accused President Bola Tinubu of being unfeeling to the plight of Nigerians. He said Tinubu chose to go on Christmas holiday in Lagos in December 2024 instead of visiting Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where several children died in a stampede at a Christmas party.

”There is no compassion; people lost their children who will lead this country in the future, and he went on a Christmas holiday. ”

Iran demands accountability for Israel and US after ‘war of aggression’

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that if Israel is not held accountable for its attack on Iran, “the whole region and beyond will suffer”.

“The US-Israeli attacks on our nuclear facilities were in stark violation of NPT [the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty] and the UNSC Resolution 2231 that has endorsed Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme in 2015 by consensus,” Araghchi said in a speech at the BRICS summit in Brazil, cited by state-run Press TV.

“The US’s subsequent involvement in this aggression by targeting Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations has left no doubt as to the full complicity of the American government in Israel’s war of aggression against Iran. ”

Iran won the support of fellow BRICS+ nations meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, with the bloc condemning the recent Israeli and US air strikes that hit military, nuclear and other targets.

The 11-nation grouping said the attacks “constitute a violation of international law”.

“We condemn the military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran since 13 June 2025,” leaders said in a summit statement, without naming the United States or Israel.

“We further express serious concern over deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure and peaceful nuclear facilities,” the bloc added.

The declaration is a diplomatic victory for Tehran, which has received limited regional or global support after a 12-day bombing campaign by the Israeli military that culminated in US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan.

Israel launched the surprise attack on Iran’s military, nuclear, and civilian sites on June 13, killing at least 935 people. The Iranian Health Ministry said 5,332 people were wounded.

Tehran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Israel, killing at least 29 people and wounding more than 3,400, according to figures released by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The fighting ended with a US-sponsored ceasefire that took effect on June 24 and continues to hold.

Mel B shares beautiful unseen wedding snaps after tying the knot with Rory McPhee

Mel B has offered fans a glimpse into her wedding celebrations with Rory McPhee, sharing a candid photo from their elegant reception just one day after saying “I do” at St Paul’s Cathedral.

The Spice Girls icon, 50, took to Instagram to post a behind-the-scenes image from the big day. Captured from behind in her gown, Mel stood with her back to the camera, revealing the words “Just Married” delicately embroidered on her dress. Her bridal look featured a graceful long veil and pearl embellishments at the collar and cuffs, giving the ensemble a timeless and regal finish.

Her husband Rory, 37, opted for a nod to his heritage, wearing a traditional Scottish kilt. The pair shared a romantic kiss on the steps of the cathedral before leaving the venue in a white, horse-drawn carriage – a fairy-tale moment for the newlyweds. Guests followed in true British style, riding to the reception in classic red double-decker Routemaster buses.

As the carriage pulled away, the couple were spotted sharing another affectionate moment, smiling and embracing as they began married life.
