Marco Pierre White Jr jailed for second time in weeks after £60k crime spree

Marco Pierre White Jr received his second jail term in a matter of weeks after pleading guilty to assault after he was already jailed for a crime and shoplifting spree

Marco Pierre White Jr has been jailed following his 70th offence just weeks after he went on a £60,000 shoplifting spree. The former Celebrity Big Brother star admitted that he assaulted Manuel Constantino Teixeira De Leca in Bath, Somerset, in April.

White was not present to receive his sentence, which was handed down in his absence, of four weeks imprisonment. The fresh sentence will run consecutively with a sentence imposed a month earlier.

He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation to the victim during a hearing at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on November 11. White, 30, was already jailed on October 30 after vandalising a gallery and stealing Jellycats in multiple raids.

He also broke into an Italian deli in Kensington and stole a laptop, tablet, iPod and till tray. Days later he stole two natural rock crystal formations from a store in Notting Hill.

He then broke into a store in Barnes, South West London, on July 21, stealing £1,500 worth of Jellycat soft toys. He also entered an ammonite store in London from which he stole two green fluorite crystal lamp towers.

He also caused £44,000 worth of damage by wrecking “four mounted crystals.” Isleworth Crown Court heard how White has a “long-standing drug addiction” and was already on two suspended sentences throughout most of his crime spree.

On April 1 an alarm was triggered at Clayton’s Kitchens, Bath, broken glass and blood were found at the scene, but no items were stolen. Police subsequently received a call at 4.30am the next day regarding Mercy in Action – a charity shop in Bath.

White has now been convicted 32 times for 70 offences. White was born to celebrity chef Marco Pierre White and Mati Conejero on May 24, 1995 and was raised in Chelsea, West London. He was a troubled young man with a difficult upbringing before he became an artist and model.

He was 21 when he appeared on the 17th series of Big Brother in 2016. He was the first to be evicted and triggered 634 complaints to Ofcom with his antics.

In November 2019, he became a dad when he welcomed baby daughter Arabella Rosa. He was convicted of several offences between June 2016 and August 2022, and was sentenced to 79 weeks in prison.

White previously spoke about changing his life when he moved to his dad’s farm in Wiltshire with partner Francesca Suter. In May 2017, he launched a sex toy brand called Velvet Love. In September 2017 he then caused controversy when he described the Parsons Green train bombing as “why I don’t take the tube #theRichDontDie”.

In 2019 he was fined £200 after admitting to drink and racial harassment charges. He said “f*** these n****rs” while being arrested at a bar in Paddington Station, west London. In June 2019, a court ordered him to pay £1,328.05 in fines and costs after failing to pay for a £27 breakfast at Kingsmead Kitchen in Bath.

Paramount Skydance prepares $71bn bid for Warner Bros Discovery: Report

Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly being considered for acquisition by Paramount Skydance.

The looming proposal was first reported on Tuesday by Variety, a trade magazine for the entertainment industry, using sources with knowledge of the discussions.

According to the publication, Warner Bros Discovery was purchased by the company after it formed an investment consortium with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.

According to the report, Paramount Skydance would contribute about $50 billion to the proposed acquisition, with the rest going to the wealthy.

The involvement of sovereign wealth funds has been deemed “categorically inaccurate,” according to Paramount Skydance.

David Ellison, the son of Larry Ellison, cofounder of Oracle, and close ally of US President Donald Trump, is now in charge of Paramount Skydance. The Ellison family, which has all-board voting at Paramount Skydance, has previously turned down a bid from Warner Bros Discovery.

Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount both declined to comment on Al Jazeera’s request.

The wealth funds would own a small minority stake in the proposed structure, and each would receive “an IP, a movie premiere, and a movie shoot,” according to the report.

Warner Bros Discovery, which includes Warner Bros. Entertainment, HBO, CNN, TNT, and Warner Bros. Games, is in danger of dissolving, hurt by declines in its television industry.

The business announced in October that it was considering a number of options, including a planned separation, a deal for the entire business, or separate transactions for its Warner Bros or Discovery Global operations.

On Thursday, first-round bids are due in non-binding amounts.

According to the US news website Axios, Paramount is the only company that is currently considering a complete buyout. According to Axios’ reporting, Warner Bros. Discovery also wants to close a deal by the year’s end.

political pressures

How the Trump administration views coverage of Warner Bros Discovery’s news outlets plays a role in the looming deal.

Any bids from Comcast and Netflix are reportedly open, but any bids from Comcast would need to be approved by the regulatory body.

Trump has also repeatedly criticized Comcast for its coverage of TV news, saying the company “should be forced to pay enormous sums of money for the harm they’ve done to our country.”

Versant Media, the parent company of MS-Now, formerly MSNBC, and CNBC, is owned by Comcast, which owns NBC News and its subsidiary.

After settling a Trump lawsuit alleging that CBS’ flagship program, 60 Minutes, allegedly deceptively edited an interview with 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, who lost to Trump, CBS, has adopted a more cordial attitude toward the administration. This includes employing a Trump nominee as an ombudsman to investigate bias allegations.

Bari Weiss, a journalist without television experience and with a right-leaning opinion, was recently appointed to lead CBS’s broadcast news division.

Antitrust concerns are raised by any of the proposed deals. However, Rodney Benson, a professor of media, culture, and communication at New York University, said, “that would create an additional civic risk” if Paramount Skydance, which already owns CBS, now buys CNN as part of Warner Bros Discovery.

According to Benson, “asking a deal would place two important news outlets under the control of the same large, multi-industry conglomerate with avowed close ties to the party in power,” which would result in more conflicts of interest, less independent watchdog reporting, and a narrowing of diverse voices and viewpoints in the public sphere.

The parent company of CNN continues to be Warner Bros.

What is Scotland’s World Cup record?

Scotland’s men have qualified for a World Cup for the first time since 1998 – and next year will mark their ninth appearance in the tournament.

The Scots have not fared well after qualifying previously, having never progressed past the group stages and won only four of 23 matches.

The 28-year gap between 1998 and 2026 is the longest they have been absent from men’s World Cups.

Scotland have previously qualified for 10 World Cups but only appeared at nine, having declined to appear at the 1950 tournament.

After finishing as runners-up in the British Home Championships, Scotland earned a place at the tournament in Brazil, but the Scottish Football Association declined its place on a matter of principle, having previously declared the nation would only attend as British champions.

Despite huge opposition from the players, the SFA held firm, meaning Scotland’s first World Cup was the 1954 tournament in Switzerland.

Their most consistent run of qualifications came from 1974-1990, when they appeared at five in a row.

Their full list of qualifications is as follows:

Scotland Stun Denmark To Reach World Cup, Spain, Austria Qualify

After a stunning 4-2 victory over Denmark on Tuesday, Scotland will play in the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, and Spain also secured a spot in the 2026 finals with two injury-time goals.

With the late brilliant goals from Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean, Steve Clarke’s Scotland won the crucial match in Glasgow to advance from Group C.

On the final night of European qualifying, European champions Spain, Austria, Belgium, and Switzerland all purchased tickets to the following year’s tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Scott McTominay’s sensational overhead kick put Scotland ahead in just the third minute as the crowd erupted in Hampden Park.

Before the hour mark, Denmark had a Rasmus Hojlund penalty, but Rasmus Kristensen’s dismissal reduced the team to 10 men.

Although Lawrence Shankland believed he had killed Scotland in the finals, Patrick Dorgu later appeared to have broken the hearts of the home fans.

However, Tierney outlasted him in the third minute of added time with a magnificent strike from distance before McLean headed in from close range.

Ralf Rangnick’s Austria won their first World Cup since 1998 with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks to Michael Gregoritsch’s 78th-minute goal.

In Group E, Spain were only able to draw 2-2 with Turkey if they were to pull off a seven-goal defeat to clinch a place at a 13th successive World Cup.

Belgium defeated Liechtenstein 7-0 to claim a spot in the finals, and Jeremy Doku and Charles De Ketelaere both scored twice.

With a 1-1 draw against Kosovo in Pristina, Switzerland extended their run of six World Cup appearances.

Tunisia Hold Brazil To Draw Despite Estevao’s Goal

Tunisia held to a dismal 1-1 friendly draw by Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil on Tuesday in Lille as their slow build-up to the 2026 World Cup slowed.

Lucas Paqueta wasted a chance to win the game for the Selecao from the spot, but the 18-year-old in excellent form did so.

After only finishing fifth in South American qualifying, the five-time world champions are preparing for the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada under some sort of a cloud.

Last month, they also lost to Japan by a score of 3-2.

In his starting lineup, Brazil coach Ancelotti named a strong starting lineup that included four forwards: Matheus Cunha, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Estevao.

However, Tunisia took a surprise lead in the opening period when Ali Abdi’s brilliant pass found Hazem Mastouri, who was unable to hold his composure as he slipped the ball past Brazil goalkeeper Bento.

However, shortly before half-time, Brazil received a penalty from VAR for handball, much to the dismay of the thousands of Tunisian fans at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Estevao added his fifth international goal on Saturday against Senegal by scoring against Senegal.

With 12 minutes left, substitute Paqueta replaced Estevao for the spot-kick and smashed his effort over the crossbar.

Brazil should have received a third penalty after Estevao fell in the 89th minute, but the referee continued to award it despite a VAR review.

In other international friendlies, Sadio Mane scored a hat-trick as Senegal defeated Kenya 8-0, while Ivory Coast, the country’s champion, recovered from a defeat to Saudi Arabia with a 2-0 victory over Oman.
