Luckily we spotted the perfect dress for the occasion on none other than Myleene Klass, with her £59 Together Floral Print Frill Detail Maxi Dress from Freemans being an instant hit.

Myleene shared several snaps of herself wearing the dress to the Royal Ballet and Opera on Instagram, saying: “I can’t tell you how many times I was stopped and asked about this stunning dress.” The floral maxi dress is a great pick for a day at the races, in keeping with the formal dress code whilst still being breezy and floaty enough for the scorching summer temperatures.

Britney Spears beams as she reunites with rarely-seen son who towers over her

Things are looking up for Jayden James Federline and his mum Britney Spears after the singing star and the 6ft 3ins musician get their relationship back on the right path

Britney Spears and her rarely seen youngest son continue to put their issues to one side. The mum looked delighted to be back with her son as they posed for videos showing off their huge size difference.

Pop icon Britney proudly posted pictures of her lad, Jayden James Federline, on Instagram on Monday, following their latest reunion. Britney, who shares Jayden, 18, and his older brother Sean Preston, 19, with ex-husband Kevin Federline, shared the brief clip as they got together at her mansion.

She flicked her hair back as she revealed just how tall he is, writing: “He is [6ft3in] and his hands are so big now!” The Hit Me Baby One More Time hitmaker looked so happy to have him by her side and things looking up in more ways than one.

In recent years, it has been reported that Britney has had a strained relationship with her sons, and they drifted apart following the end of her controversial conservatorship in November 2021. Things are better between them now after last year ending a long period without seeing each other.

Article continues below

She posted pictured of them together mentioned Jayden’s emerging music career, writing: “He’s a man and I cry everyday of my life because of the miracle and genius he is ! ! ! When he plays the whole earth shakes!” Jayden has shown an interest in music production, sharing some of his own beats on his Instagram page, seemingly following in his mother’s musical footsteps.

A source told Page Six: “Britney sees so much of herself in Jayden. She got started at such a young age, too, and respects his work ethic. Britney loves Jayden’s style and thinks he has such a fresh sound.” They went on to highlight the pop sensation’s pride in her son. “She’s so proud of him and all the work he’s clearly put into his passion.”

The reunion late last year is said to have brought joy to Britney and suggested she could strengthen her bond with her boy. However, other reports have suggested Kevin has been oblivious to the reunion – with a lawyer issuing a statement, suggesting he is not best pleased about the news.

Three years ago, Kevin sought permission to move his sons to Hawaii with him, his wife Victoria Prince, and their two children — Peyton, 8, and Jordan, 11. The family members jetted off for a new life on the American island in May 2023 – with a source telling People at the time: “Britney has always faithfully supported her children and wants them to be happy.”

But TMZ is spinning a different take on events – with a lawyer speaking out creating a question mark over the happiness of Kevin to see his son reuniting with his mother. The dancer’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told the outlet: “If there has been a reconciliation it’s news to Kevin.” The outlet also stated: “Kevin speaks to Jayden frequently and hasn’t been told about any kind of reconciliation between the 18-year-old and his mom.”

Israel-Iran conflict: How ballistic missiles work and where can they reach?

In response to Israeli attacks on its nuclear sites and senior military figures, Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles towards Israel, with some striking targets on the ground.

Although Israel intercepted many of the incoming missiles, several breached its defences, causing significant damage and casualties, including hits on central Tel Aviv and other areas.

The exact size of Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal is unclear, but it is widely considered one of the largest and most advanced in the region.

In the following visual explainer, Al Jazeera unpacks how ballistic missiles work and how they are being used in the ongoing conflict.

How do ballistic missiles work?

Ballistic missiles are long-range weapons designed to deliver conventional or nuclear warheads by following a ballistic, or curved, trajectory.

Launched using powerful rocket engines, these missiles shoot upwards into the upper atmosphere or even space, travelling at incredibly high speeds. Once their engines are cut off, the missile follows a predetermined path, re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere in a steep descent before striking its target.

How far can they travel?

Ballistic missiles can travel distances ranging from a few hundred kilometres to more than 10,000 kilometres across continents.

Ballistic missiles are classified based on their ranges:

  • Battlefield range ballistic missile (BRBM) – less than 200km (124 miles)
  • Short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) – less than 1,000km (621 miles)
  • Medium/Intermediate-range ballistic missile (MRBM/IRBM) – between 1,000km and 3,500km (621-2,175 miles)
  • Long-range ballistic missile (LRBM) – between 3,500km and 5,500km (2,175-3,418 miles)
  • Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) – greater than 5,500km (3,418 miles)

What speeds can they reach?

Ballistic missiles travel at extremely high speeds, allowing them to travel thousands of kilometres in just minutes.

The speed at which they travel is measured in Mach, a unit equivalent to the speed of sound; for example, Mach 5 means five times the speed of sound.

Some, usually shorter-range, ballistic missiles reach supersonic speeds (faster than Mach 1, or about 1,225km/h or 761 miles per hour), while others, usually longer-range missiles, can travel at hypersonic speeds – greater than Mach 5 (6,125km/h or 3,806mph).

How long does it take for Iran’s missiles to reach Israel?

The distance between Iran and Israel is about 1,300km to 1,500km (800-930 miles). Ballistic missiles from Iran travelling at Mach 5 can reach Israel in roughly 12 minutes, though the exact time depends on the missile type and the launch site.

Why are ballistic missiles hard to intercept?

What makes ballistic missiles especially dangerous is their combination of long range, high speed, and how difficult they are to intercept.

Their fast, high flight path gives defence systems little time to react, and when they re-enter the atmosphere, they descend even faster, making interception even more difficult. Some missiles also deploy decoys or other countermeasures to trick radar and missile defences, making them harder to intercept.

What is the difference between ballistic and cruise missiles?

Iran has also used cruise missiles against Israel. Unlike ballistic missiles, cruise missiles fly low and steady like pilotless planes, which helps them sneak past air defences. Although they travel much slower than ballistic missiles, giving air defences more time to intercept, their low flight path makes them harder to detect. Their ability to manoeuvre allows them to change course, fly around obstacles and evade missile defences.

While ballistic missiles from Iran can reach Israel in about 12 minutes, cruise missiles may take almost two hours, and drones can take up to nine hours.

Iran’s missile arsenal

Iran has developed a range of ballistic and cruise missiles over the past three decades. The graphic below summarises some of Iran’s most prominent missiles and their ranges.

Israel’s missile arsenal

Israel has an advanced missile arsenal, including long-range and nuclear-capable systems, developed with decades of support from the United States. The graphic below highlights some of Israel’s most notable missiles along with their respective ranges.

What are Israel’s air defence capabilities?

The Israeli air defence relies largely on what is known as the Iron Dome system, which is equipped with a radar that detects an incoming projectile, as well as its speed and direction.

Other systems intercept medium- and long-range missiles. The David’s Sling intercepts missiles ranging between 40km (25 miles) and 300km (186 miles). The Arrow System intercepts missiles with a range of up to 2,400km (1,491 miles).

Tanker Drivers Suspend Loading Over Lekki-Epe E-Call-Up Fee

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has directed its members to halt the programming and loading of trucks destined for the Lekki-Epe Corridor from June 16, 2025, in protest against the recently introduced ₦12,500 E-call-up system by the Lagos State Government.

In an internal memo signed by its National President, Billy Gillis-Harry; and the National Secretary, Adedibu Aderibigbe, PETROAN criticised the fee as economically insensitive and far above the ₦2,500 per truck charge earlier proposed by industry stakeholders.

The association maintains that its proposed amount is more realistic in light of prevailing economic challenges.

Despite several engagements with the Lagos State Government and other authorities, PETROAN said no agreement had been reached, prompting the decision to suspend activities along the corridor until a “mutually agreeable resolution” is secured.

The association called on all zonal and state chairmen to enforce the directive and urged members to remain united while consultations with the state government continue. It also emphasized the need for a “fair and sustainable outcome” for industry operators and the public.

Royal Ascot ready for racing’s ‘biggest five days’

Getty Images

Royal Ascot starts on Tuesday with three top-level Group One races on the opening day kicking off the action in style.

Around 250,000 spectators are expected over five days for a meeting that mixes high-quality racing with summer fashion.

In the opening Queen Anne Stakes, Lead Artist is set to clash again with the three horses behind him in the Lockinge Stakes: Dancing Gemini, Rosallion and Notable Speech.

Top sprinters Asfoora and Believing head contenders in the King Charles III Stakes before the St James’s Palace Stakes sees a fascinating rematch between this year’s first two in the 2,000 Guineas – Ruling Court and Field Of Gold.

“It’s the biggest five days in our sport – our shop window, where it’s where you want to perform,” William Buick, rider of Notable Speech and Ruling Court, told BBC Sport.

“Everyone turns up at Royal Ascot in tip-top shape, they want to win and it makes it ultra, ultra competitive. So Royal Ascot, to us – it is the be-all and end-all.”

The weather is set fair for the week, with the going likely to be good to firm. King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be hoping for a Royal winner with Reaching High in the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday.

Ruling Court was ‘decisive winner’ at Newmarket

William Buick with Ruling Court at NewmarketPA

Field Of Gold went on to win the Irish Guineas after being a fast-finishing second at Newmarket to Ruling Court, who was a late withdrawal for theDerby at Epsom this month.

Buick feels the ground was softer than the official going description of good at Epsom. His mount will enjoy conditions at Ascot, with dry weather expected.

“He was never going to be able to run on his favourite ground at Epsom, which is fast ground. The call was made purely in the interest of the horse, nothing else. Royal Ascot should suit a lot better. The forecast looks like it’s in our favour,” he said.

Field Of Gold’s run at Newmarket, where he made late ground but could not catch the winner, saw jockey Kieran Shoemark lose his role as number one jockey for trainers John and Thady Gosden.

Colin Keane was aboard for the Irish triumph and has since been appointed retained rider for owners Juddmonte.

Despite the controversy, Buick felt his mount was a worthy victor and Shoemark will bounce back.

“I thought my fella just kept pulling out more. He possibly handled the track a little bit better than Field of Gold, and I thought on the day he was a decisive winner,” said the two-time champion jockey.

“I spoke to Kieran afterwards and he seems to have really taken it very well, and he’s riding plenty of winners. He’s going to put this behind him and he’s going to carry on and have a very, very good career.”

Buick, with 36 victories, is second behind Ryan Moore (85) and Frankie Dettori (81) – who is now based in the United States – among current jockeys for Royal Ascot wins.

And he would dearly love to be the week’s leading rider, having come close and even matched Moore with five wins in 2012 but missed out due to countback on placed horses.

Tuesday’s Royal Ascot schedule

14:30 Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1) one mile

15:05 Coventry Stakes (Group 2) six furlongs

15:40 King Charles III Stakes (Group 1) five furlongs

16:20 St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1) one mile

17:00 Ascot Stakes (Class 2 handicap) two miles, four furlongs

17:35 Wolferton Stakes (Listed) one mile, two furlongs

Other Royal Ascot 2025 highlights

Wednesday: Aidan O’Brien, who has a record 91 Royal Ascot winners and has been the meeting’s leading trainer 13 times, will look to increase his haul in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. O’Brien saddles Los Angeles, who again faces Anmaat after just edging him out to win the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Thursday: Ladies’ Day features the Gold Cup where Buick rides 2024 runner-up Trawlerman. Hewill not have to tackle retired two-time champion Kyprios but has another strong O’Brien opponent in Illinois.

Friday: Buick is looking forward to partnering the “hugely talented” Shadow of Light in the Commonwealth Cup. The day’s other Group One race, the Coronation Stakes, features in-form Zarigana for French trainer Francis-Henri Graffard.

Royal Procession celebrates 200th anniversary

King Charles and Queen Camilla at Royal AscotPA

A tradition that began with King George IV in 1825 will celebrate its 200th anniversary.

The Royal Procession down the Berkshire track precedes the start of racing each day and King Charles III and Queen Camilla are again expected to attend.

They will hope to be celebrating success as racehorse owners with Reaching High, based with Willie Mullins – the first Irishman to train for the reigning monarch.

Reaching High was bred by the King’s late mother Queen Elizabeth II.

One of the chief dangers could be stablemate Poniros – owned by Brighton and Hove Albion supremo Tony Bloom – who was a 100-1 winner at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
