Rob Reiner’s masseuse discovered grim murder scene after heated argument with son

Rob Reiner’s masseuse attended the Hollywood film director’s address in Los Angeles on Sunday in order to help him and his distressed wife after they had argued with their son Nick

Rob Reiner’s masseuse attended his home on Sunday, after the director was murdered, it has been claimed. He had booked a massage on the day he and his wife, Michele, had been brutally killed after the couple allegedly had their throats slit by a relative.

But just hours before they were killed, it’s claimed that Rob and his son, Nick, who is currently being held in custody after being booked for murder, had argued while attending a party hosted by Conan O’Brien on Saturday night.

Reports claim that Rob and his son Nick had a “very loud argument”. After the dispute, sources claim that Rob and Michele then left the party.

A source told US outlet TMZ that Michele had been telling friends in her final months that she and Rob were at their “wits’ end” over Nick and his alleged substance abuse, saying: “We’ve tried everything.” But now, it’s emerged that Rob’s masseuse visited the director’s home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, at 2pm on Sunday to help him and his wife de-stress.

However, the masseuse rang the bell, knocked several times, but received no answer from the property. The Mail claims that Rob and Michele’s daughter, Romy, who lives in a neighbouring property, headed over to the mansion and discovered her parents had been brutally murdered.

The LAPD Chief of Police has since confirmed that Nick, 32, has been booked for the murder of his parents. Documents obtained by the Mirror reveal that he has had any bail denied and is currently being held in custody before an attorney will consider the case on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Jim McDonnell said that the two bodies have been identified as Rob and Michele during a press conference on Monday, adding that their son Nick is a suspect in the case and has been “booked for murder”. He said: “The information at this stage is still limited. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the Reiners. It was a tragic incident.

“Yesterday, December 14, about 3:40 in the afternoon, LAPD responded to a residence, the residence of Rob and Michele Reiner, located in Los Angeles West Provision. At that location, they found two deceased adults, a male and a female. Through the night, working with the coroner’s office, they were able to identify them definitively as Rob and Michele Reiner.

“We have our Robbery and Homicide Division handling the investigation. They worked throughout the night on this case and were able to take into custody Nick Reiner, a suspect in this case. He was subsequently booked for murder and is being held on a $4million bail.”

A spokesperson for the Reiner family said: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Meanwhile, Rob’s eldest daughter, Tracy Reiner, who was adopted by the star during his first marriage to Penny Marshall, said she was in “shock.” Speaking to NBC, she said: “I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”

Ukraine claims strike on Russian submarine in Novorossiysk with sea drones

Ukraine has carried out a successful underwater drone strike on a Russian submarine in the port of Novorossiysk, causing critical damage to the vessel, its domestic security service says.

In a statement on Monday, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said the Kilo-class submarine was knocked out of operation in the first such attack by Sea Baby drones.

“The Security Service of Ukraine carried out another unique special operation and launched a naval attack in the port of Novorossiysk,” the SBU said on Telegram.

The SBU said the submarine “carried four Kalibr cruise missile launchers” used to strike Ukrainian territory. It suffered “critical damage and was effectively put out of action”, the service said.

There was no immediate comment from Russia on the Ukrainian claim.

The SBU made its announcement amid a flurry of diplomatic activity as United States, European and Ukrainian officials held talks in Berlin on a US plan to end Russia’s war on its neighbour.

Ukraine has been trying to show it can inflict significant damage on Russia, especially after US President Donald Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not “have the cards” in the negotiations.

Kyiv has stepped up naval attacks in on what it said were Russia-linked vessels, and continued to carry out attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure as well as military targets.

Russia has escalated attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in recent weeks and continues to claim advances on the front lines in eastern Ukraine.

‘Turning point’

Ukrainian navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk said the operation to hit a submarine, a most difficult target to hit, marked “another turning point” in the naval battle between Ukraine and Russia.

“This day once again upends the perception of the possibilities of naval combat in this war,” he told the news agency Reuters.

It will be hard for Russia to repair the submarine because that would have to be done above water, which would mean the vessel would again be exposed to attack, he added.

Rob Reiner’s son Nick booked for murder as police share update

Rob Reiner’s son Nick has been arrested for murder after the killing of his parents. Nick, 32, is currently being held in custody after his parents were found dead at their home in Los Angeles.

LAPD Chief of Police Jim McDonnell confirmed the identities of the two bodies as Rob and Michele during a press conference on Monday, adding that their son Nick is a suspect in the case and has been “booked for murder”. Rob and his wife, Michele, were found dead at their Brentwood mansion and allegedly had their throats slit by a relative after an argument. Documents obtained by the Mirror revealed that Nick was being held on a $4million (£3million) bail in connection with the murder.

The agency description of his arrest was listed as “Gang Activity.” Nick was arrested on Sunday at 21:15 local time and booked on Monday morning. The Los Angeles Fire Department were called to the home in Brentwood to offer medical aid at 3:30pm local time on Sunday and found a man, 78, and a woman, 68. They had already died. Police confirmed that both victims had suffered from lacerations “consistent with a knife [attack].”

It’s believed that their daughter, Romy, had discovered them at the huge property. Romy has told police that a family member “should be a suspect” as they were “dangerous”.

A spokesperson for the Reiner family said: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

“We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation,” the officer said, adding that detectives were set to re-enter the sprawling six-bedroomed property to conduct a detailed forensic examination.

He noted that the house had been left in the same condition as when officers first arrived, after police determined there was no ongoing threat. During a press conference on Sunday, the police confirmed that they were seeking to obtain a search warrant for a home and were “not looking for anyone as a suspect or in any other manner.”

Alan Hamilton, deputy police chief of Los Angeles, confirmed that the force would continue to interview several members of the family. There were no signs of forced entry on the $13.5 million mansion.

In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter on Sunday, the police department said: “LAPD officers responded to a death investigation in the 200 block of S. Chadbourne Ave. Inside the residence, officers discovered 2 decedents. The identity of the decedents has not yet been confirmed.

“Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) responded to the residence, which has been identified as the home of Rob Reiner. At this time, no further details are available as this is an ongoing RHD investigation, into an apparent homicide.”

Scheffler joins Woods with fourth PGA Tour award

Scottie Scheffler has become just the second man after Tiger Woods to win the PGA Tour’s player of the year award for four seasons in a row.

The 29-year-old American won six times in 2025, including two majors – The Open and the PGA Championship – and recorded a PGA Tour-best 17 top-10 finishes as well as not missing a single cut.

He is just the second player to claim the Jack Nicklaus Award in at least four straight seasons after Woods (five in succession between 1999 and 2003 – and 11 overall).

World number one Scheffler won the vote of PGA Tour members ahead of his fellow American Ben Griffin, England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy.

PGA Tour chief executive Brian Rolapp said: “Scottie’s consistent level of success has been nothing short of spectacular as he continues to chase history on the PGA Tour, and we’re excited to see what he will deliver in 2026.”

South Africa’s Aldrich Potgieter received the Arnold Palmer Award as the PGA Tour rookie of the year after a season in which he was the only newcomer to qualify for the FedEx Cup Play-offs.

Honduras election official says ‘disturbances’ preventing vote recount

The head of Honduras’s National Electoral Council (CNE) has decried acts preventing the ongoing recount of the Central American country’s presidential election, as a regional body said there was no reason to suspect fraud in the November 30 vote.

Ana Paola Hall’s statement on Monday came amid ongoing protests and unrest over the unresolved election. Nasry Asfura, a right-wing businessman publicly supported by US President Donald Trump, has held a razor-thin lead over his top opponent, Salvador Nasralla.

At least 99 percent of votes have already been counted, but CNE has said that nearly 2,800 ballots will need to be re-examined through a special recount.

In a post on X, Hall said disturbances seen in the country’s capital, Tegucigalpa, have “prevented the necessary conditions for the special recount to begin”.

Observers have said infighting at the CNE, which is run by three officials each representing one of the major political parties, has delayed reaching the final results.

Both Nasralla, a conservative, and outgoing left-wing President Xiomara Castro have alleged vote tampering, although several international missions have dismissed the claims.

On Monday, the Organization of American States (OAS), a regional body, said that despite a lack of expertise in overseeing the election, there was not “any evidence that would cast doubt on the results”.

The OAS mission “urgently calls on the electoral authorities to immediately begin the special recount and to explore all possible ways to obtain the official results as quickly as possible,” OAS official Eladio Loizaga said in a report he read to the group’s members.

“The current delay in processing and publishing the results is not justifiable,” he said in the report.

The OAS statement added that its mission of 101 observers from 19 countries “did not observe any malice or obvious manipulation of the electoral materials or computer systems”. The finding was in line with that of a parallel European Union mission.

The election in Honduras had been in turmoil even before polls opened, with several major parties, political figures, and foreign interference for months casting doubt on the election’s integrity.

The most prominent scandal involved an investigation by the attorney general into a member of Asfura’s National Party for allegedly discussing plans with a military officer to influence the vote.

The candidate for outgoing President Castro’s LIBRE party, Rixi Moncada, later told Reuters news agency that the alleged conspiracy proved the election was “the most rigged in history”.

Several candidates have also criticised the influence of Trump, who endorsed Asfura in the final stretch of the race and vowed to withhold US funding if his candidate did not win.

The US president also pardoned former Honduran President and National Party member Juan Orlando Hernandez, who had been convicted in the US of drug trafficking, two days before the vote.
