Curry’s 49 Points Propel Warriors In 109-108 Win Over Spurs

Golden State star Stephen Curry scored 49 points, including the game-winning free-throws in the waning seconds, as the Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 109-108 in NBA Cup action on Friday.

For the second time in three days Curry propelled the Warriors to a victory over Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs, following up a 46-point performance on Wednesday with another masterpiece.

Curry connected on 16 of 26 shots from the field, drilling nine three-pointers and finishing a perfect eight for eight at the free throw line as the Warriors came out on top in a tense battle in Texas that included 13 lead changes.

French star Wembanyama scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and De’Aaron Fox added 24 points and 10 assists for the Spurs, who led 79-77 going into the fourth quarter only to be undone by 14 points from Curry in the final frame.

Wembanyama scored 10 in the fourth, his tip-in layup putting San Antonio up 108-105 with 1:05 remaining.

Golden State’s Jimmy Butler drove for a layup to cut the deficit to one and after Wembanyama blocked a Butler shot Fox fouled Curry, who calmly stepped up and made the deciding free throws.

Curry said the two “gritty, gutsy, professional wins” in San Antonio could set a tone for a Warriors team trying to find their identity.

“That was fun,” he said. “They’ve got a great team. To come in here and win back-to-back games is huge.

“We all did it together,” Curry said. “I know the points look great, but we all did it together to win. That’s what we’re trying to build on.”

Friday marked the third night of group play in the league’s in-season tournament, in its third edition this year.

Teams were drawn into six groups for round-robin matches that also count in the regular-season standings. Eight teams advance to the Cup quarter-finals, with the semi-finals and final in Las Vegas in December.

In New Orleans, the Los Angeles Lakers improved to 2-0 in Cup play as they bounced back from a blowout loss at Oklahoma City with a 118-104 victory over the Pelicans.

Austin Reaves scored 31 points, Luka Doncic added 24 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists and Deandre Ayton chipped in 20 points on impressive 10 of 11 shooting for Los Angeles, who are still awaiting the season debut of superstar LeBron James.

“After the dud we threw out in Oklahoma City, you need to bounce back with a win,” Reaves said. “I thought we played pretty good for the most part tonight. We’ve obviously got to clean some things up, but pretty good.”

Veteran James Harden produced a 41-point triple-double to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 133-127 double-overtime triumph over the Mavericks in Dallas.

Harden, 36, played a career-high 51 minutes and scored 10 points over the two overtime periods as the Clippers held on to halt a six-game skid.

The injury-depleted Detroit Pistons powered to their ninth straight victory, beating the Philadelphia 76ers 114-105.

The Pistons extended their streak despite missing key contributors Cade Cunningham, Tobias Harris, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren.

Javonte Green led Detroit with 21 points and nine rebounds. Daniss Jenkins added 19 points as six Pistons players scored in double figures.

In New York, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 39 points and Landry Shamet added a career-high 36 points off the bench as the short-handed Knicks beat the Miami Heat 140-132.

The Knicks were already without star Jalen Brunson and they lost forward OG Anunoby in the first quarter to a hamstring strain.

But Jordan Clarkson added 24 points off the bench and fellow reserve Josh Hart posted a triple-double of 12 points 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the Knicks withstood a 38-point performance from Miami’s Norman Powell.

Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo returned from a one-game injury absence to deliver 25 points, seven rebounds and 18 assists as the Bucks out-lasted the Charlotte Hornets 147-134 in overtime.

Adam Peaty’s mum reveals message which started family fall out

The mother of Olympian Adam Peaty has broken her silence over the breakdown of her relationship with her son ahead of his marriage to Holly Ramsay on Christmas Day

Adam Peaty’s mum has revealed the message which sparked the breakdown of their relationship. As the mother of the groom, you’d expect Caroline Peaty to be giddy with excitement over the fact that her son had found The One, after meeting the daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay.

But that has been far from her reality as Caroline recalls the moment the breakdown of her relationship occurred, leaving her uninvited to the lavish hen party held at Soho Farmhouse.

However, Holly Ramsay’s mum, Tana, was in tow along with family friend Victoria Beckham. And to make matters even worse, it has also been reported that she has not been invited to the big day, which is to be held at the iconic Bath Abbey on Christmas Day.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Caroline distinctly recalled the moment things went wrong for her. And it was when she sent a text message to Holly to share concerns that members of her family had not been invited to the engagement party.

Caroline first met Holly at the Paris Olympics last year, and the pair appeared to hit it off famously, to the point where Adam’s mum told the publication that they had grown so close so quickly, they shared personal and confidential stories of their past.

She admitted: “We had a really good time. We both shared confidences that will remain confidential.’ According to the Mail, Caroline felt comfortable enough to share that she felt concerned Adam was “pulling away” from his family.

But in a desperate bid to reassure her, Holly reportedly sent Caroline a text putting her at ease, which told her that she’d got her son back and “he’ll always be part of your family.”

But when the couple’s engagement was announced, that is when Adam’s mum felt a huge shift in the relationship with her son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law.

Caroline continued: “He told me he had found his soulmate. And I was so happy. As a mother that’s what you want, isn’t it? To see your children settled.”

The extended leg of Adam’s family was not invited to celebrate the happy couple, which prompted Caroline to reach out to Holly. But it was this message that changed their dynamic of the relationship for the worse.

Explaining the reason behind sending the message, she said: “I told her, ‘you know how important family is to you, as it is to me. My sisters are not coming to the party, they have been there all through Adam’s life…But Adam didn’t take kindly to me sending that message.”

And in an attempt to reassure the Ramsay family even further, Caroline bee-lined for Gordon at the engagement party to explain that there was no ill intent behind sending the message.

While Holly was busy celebrating her last days as a single woman, it is believed that Caroline was at home looking after her grandson, Adam’s child from a previous relationship.

Wading in on the tension between Caroline and the couple, Adam’s aunt Louise William also made her feelings known as she claimed that the Olympic swimmer has allegedly said “vile” things to his mother.

She wrote: “Yes. Adam is a born-again Christian. He’s not living by the tenets of Christianity is he? Where is ‘honour thy mother and thy father’ where is the forgiveness?”

Hitting back at a social media follower who claimed the family’s “lack of decorum” was the reason they had not been invited, Louise said: “Our family and friends place real value on love, friendship, loyalty and being there for each other.

I hate injustice, always have, and I will always speak out against it, whether you are the King of England or a sycophant like yourself. Unlike you I happen to know all sides of the story. Unlike you I have seen heard and read the most vile things a son can say to a mother.”

Police Take Down Kidnapper In Kwara Gun Duel, Others Escape

Fully armed security operatives from the Kwara State Police Command, in conjunction with local vigilantes, on Thursday afternoon successfully overpowered a gang of kidnappers in a gun battle in Adekanbi Village, Moro Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that one of the kidnappers was shot dead during the gun duel, while others escaped with gunshot injuries. An AK-49 rifle and 32 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene.

The gang was reportedly planning a kidnap attack when the police, acting on actionable intelligence, swooped on them with the support of local vigilantes.

Police Public Relations Officer Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi confirmed the development in a press statement issued Friday evening.

She said, “Acting on actionable intelligence on 13th November 2025 at about 1000hrs, police operatives and vigilante members executed a rapid tactical deployment to Adekanbi Village via Bode-Saadu, where armed bandits were sighted occupying a fortified hilltop.

“On arrival, the hostile elements initiated gunfire, prompting a swift and superior counter-engagement by the security team. The overwhelming response forced the criminals to abandon their position with suspected gunshot injuries. A post-operation sweep led to the recovery of a neutralised suspect, one AK-49 rifle, and 32 rounds of live ammunition.”

Adetoun added, “This successful operation underscores the Command’s enhanced kinetic capability and reinforced rapid-response strategy under the leadership of IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

‘I worked for the Palace and there’s one key Meghan and Kate detail no-one knows’

The late Queen was determined to preserve unity within the Royal Family, particularly when it came to Princess Kate and Meghan Markle, according to a former butler

A former royal butler has revealed exactly how the late Queen tried to maintain harmony within the Firm, especially between Princess Kate and Meghan Markle.

When Meghan and Harry went public with their romance, the former actress was welcomed by Prince William and Kate with open arms – and royal watchers hoped they’d make a bond that would last a lifetime. Fans lapped them up on joint outings and they soon became known as the Fab Four.

But according to Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, relations between his wife and Kate weren’t always plain sailing. In the book, the prince recounts several times that his wife seemed at loggerheads with his sister-in-law. He says the two women had a row over bridesmaid dresses in the lead-up to his wedding that left Meghan in tears and that Kate “grimaced” when the duchess borrowed her lipgloss.

But according to ex royal butler Grant Harrold, the late monarch would have done everything in her power to squash any tensions between the pair. He explained: The late Queen was known for her deep commitment to maintaining unity within the Royal Family. If she sensed any tension, particularly between Kate and Meghan, she would have quietly stepped in to try and smooth things over.”

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, he further added: “Her focus was always on preserving a strong and united front, especially among the younger generation of royals.”

Mr Harrold also suggested: “As Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship grew more serious, it’s possible that dynamics behind the scenes began to shift. The Queen would have taken note of any signs of strain. If there was even a hint of things not being right, she would have done what she could to resolve it.”, reports the Express.

In 2018, reports surfaced of a tense exchange prior to Meghan and Harry’s wedding, where Meghan had allegedly reduced Kate to tears over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. However, nearly three years later, Meghan disputed this version of events during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, asserting that “the reverse of that happened,” although she did admit that Kate had ultimately “apologised”.

Autumn Nations Series: Wales v Japan

Venue: Principality Stadium, Cardiff Date: Saturday, 15 November Kick-off: 17:40 GMT

For fans of Welsh sport, there is a huge amount riding on two fixtures today.

Wales’ football side play their penultimate World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein in Vaduz.

Kicking off just 40 minutes later, Steve Tandy’s rugby union side host Japan on more familiar territory at the Principality Stadium.

It will be the first time the pair have played on the same day since 13 October 2019, some six years, one month and three days ago.

On that occasion, Warren Gatland’s men secured a comfortable 35-13 victory against Uruguay at the 2019 World Cup in Japan before Gareth Bale’s equaliser earned Ryan Giggs’ side a 1-1 draw with Croatia in a Euro 2020 qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium.

Neighbourly love

The two teams will be playing about 850 miles apart from one another, although they have spent the build-up to their respective fixtures in the same surroundings.

Both the football and rugby union sides train at the Vale Resort in Hensol, around a 20-minute drive away from the centre of Cardiff.

Naturally, there is regular crossover at the training site when both teams are housed in the plush facilities at the same time.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, rugby captain and hooker Dewi Lake wished the football side good luck for their contest in Liechtenstein.

Cardiff flanker Alex Mann spoke of his close relationship with Cardiff City winger Isaak Davies and his pride at seeing his childhood friend earning another senior call-up from Craig Bellamy.

“He’s been one of my best mates since I was young, so we’ve grown up in school together,” Mann said of Davies.

“It gives me goosebumps thinking about it. We were coming through and we always said to each other in class that we wanted to play for Wales, with him in football and me in rugby.

“For him to get a call-up on Sunday, he came to watch the game as well, it’s a massive honour for him – fingers crossed he gets an opportunity.

“From us being in Aberdare thinking about this being our dreams, it’s pretty surreal that we both get the chance at the same time.

High stakes

A Wales win against Japan will almost certainly guarantee Tandy’s men a top-12 ranking for the World Cup draw on 3 December.

Defeat would see Japan rise above Wales in the rankings – leaving Tandy’s side with the daunting task of needing a victory over either New Zealand or South Africa later this month to return to the top 12.

So why is a top-12 ranking important?

The top six sides in the world rankings will be placed in band one for the draw and would therefore avoid playing each other in the pool stage.

As for the round ball, top spot in Group J looks set to be beyond Wales’ reach, although there is a huge incentive to finish second – likely behind favourites Belgium.

Finishing as runners-up would ensure Bellamy’s side play at home in the World Cup play-off semi-finals next March, although ending in third would see them travel away for the one-off last-four fixture.

So how can they achieve second spot?

Two wins over the coming days – against Liechtenstein and then North Macedonia – will ensure Bellamy’s side finish second.

But four points will also be enough in the following two scenarios:
