On the face of it, Tottenham are having a good season.

After 10 Premier League games Thomas Frank’s side find themselves in the Premier League’s top four and unbeaten in the Champions League.

Yet results – and noticeably the mood of supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – have gone south in recent weeks.

After Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Chelsea – just as he does after every home game – Frank encouraged his players to do a lap of appreciation around the stadium.

As his players were booed off pitch, Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence were caught on camera snubbing their manager and going straight down the tunnel.

“All the players are of course frustrated,” Frank said of the incident. “They would like to do well, they would like to win, they would like to perform well, so I understand that.

“I think it is difficult to be consistent in good times and in bad times. That is why I went around to the fans as I did. It is more fun when we win, I can tell you that.”

When pushed on the reactions of Van de Ven and Spence and if their response was acceptable, he added: “I think that is one of the small issues. We have Micky and Djed who are doing everything they can.

After finishing 17th in the Premier League last season, Spurs began Frank’s tenure with three wins and three clean sheets in four games.

The Dane has repeatedly said he wants to make Tottenham Hotspur Stadium “a fortress”, but the loss to Chelsea means Spurs have won just one of five home games under him.

They have not won back-to-back league games since beginning the season with wins against Burnley and Manchester City, and have won just one of their past five games in all competitions since the October international break.

Poor home form is a continuation of a trend that started under Ange Postecoglou last season – Spurs have won just three of their past 19 home Premier League games (four draws and 12 losses), with no current top-flight side winning fewer home matches since 10 November, 2024.

In fact, in England’s top four tiers, only Southampton have won fewer home games than Spurs in this period.

“There will be more questions of Thomas Frank after the game,” former Premier League goalkeeper Rob Green said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I don’t think he’ll have learned anything after that because it was such an abject performance on the ball. They never gave themselves a chance. They never got better. No sustained pressure at home is just not good enough.”

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp said on Sky Sports that the defeat was “one of the worst performances I’ve seen from Tottenham”.

“That was as easy as it gets,” he added. “If that was a boxing match I’d have stopped it. They never laid a glove on Chelsea. They made it so easy.”

Fans echoed his sentiments as they made their feelings clear, with boos ringing out at the full-time whistle.

Frank said he understood the frustration of supporters but asked for patience while his side continues to develop.

“They [the fans] did everything they could to back us in a game that we didn’t perform well in. Chelsea were better than us on the day,” he said.

“There’s no doubt, and I keep saying it, that we have a front four that is new. We have to build together with short turnarounds in games. We’ll do that. I’m not in doubt that will happen.

“I think every team I’ve coached has scored a lot of goals. It will happen again in the future here.”

Attack isn’t Frank’s only issue – only Wolves (four) have made more errors leading to opposition goals than Tottenham in the Premier League this season, who have made three along with Manchester United, Nottingham Forest & Fulham.

Tottenham have two opportunities to make amends at home in the next week, with games against Copenhagen in the Champions League and Manchester United in the Premier League.

After an abysmal league campaign last season, Frank has certainly brought improvement. But more is needed to improve both results and the mood in north London.

“I don’t think I have been in a game where we have created that little,” Frank told BBC Sport after his side finished Saturday’s game with an xG rating of 0.05.

On the surface, Tottenham are having a good year.

Thomas Frank’s side are now in the top four of the Premier League and unbeaten in the Champions League after ten games.

However, recent results have turned ugly and the atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has changed.

Frank encouraged his players to do a lap of applause around the stadium following Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Chelsea, just like he does every other home game.

Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence were caught on camera sneering at their manager and going straight down the tunnel as his players were booed off the pitch.

Frank described the incident as “all the players are obviously frustrated.” I fully understand that they would like to do well, they would like to win, and they would like to perform well.

In good and bad times, I believe consistency is challenging. I did that because I surrounded the fans. I can assure you that winning is more enjoyable.

When asked about Van de Ven and Spence’s responses and whether their response was acceptable, he said, “I think that is one of the small issues. Micky and Djed are exerting every effort.

Spurs, which finished 17th in the Premier League last season, came into Frank’s place with three victories and three clean sheets.

The Dane has repeatedly argued that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should be “a fortress,” but his defeat to Chelsea leaves Spurs with just one of their five home games.

Since beginning the season with victories against Burnley and Manchester City, they have only won one of their last five games in all competitions since the October international break, which means they haven’t won back-to-back league games.

Spurs’ poor home form follows a trend that began last season under Ange Postecoglou: they have won just three of their past 19 home Premier League games (four draws and 12 losses), and no top-flight team has won more home games since 10 November 2024.

In fact, only Spurs and Southampton have won fewer home games than Spurs during this time in England’s top four divisions.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Rob Green stated on BBC Radio 5 Live that “there will be more questions about Thomas Frank after the game.”

Because of how terrible of a performance on the ball it was, I don’t think he’ll have learned anything from that.” They never allowed themselves to succeed. They never improved. It’s simply not sufficient to have no consistent pressure at home.

Jamie Redknapp, a former Spurs midfielder, described the defeat as “one of the worst performances I’ve seen from Tottenham,” according to Sky Sports.

He continued, “That was as simple as it gets.” I would have stopped it if it had been a boxing match. Never did they glove Chelsea up. They made it so simple.

Fans reacted in his manner by making their feelings known and blaring at the end of the match.

Frank expressed his appreciation for the frustration of his supporters but demanded patience as his party grows.

The fans made every effort to support us in a game that we didn’t do well in. He claimed that Chelsea was a better team at the time.

“We have a front four that is new, without a doubt, and I keep saying that.” In games, we must collaborate and build quickly. That is what we will do. That will happen, I have no doubts about.

Every team I’ve coached has scored a lot of goals, in my opinion. In the future, it will occur right here.

Only Wolves (four) have conceded more errors to opponents this season than Tottenham, who have scored three, along with Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham. This isn’t Frank’s only problem.

In the following week, Tottenham will have two chances to make amends at home, playing against Manchester United and Copenhagen in the Premier League.

Frank has undoubtedly improved after a terrible league campaign last year. However, more must be done to enhance both the north of London’s results and the mood.

After his side’s xG rating of 0.05, Frank said, “I don’t think I have been in a game where we have created that little.”

Trump threatens to launch attacks in Nigeria over ‘killing of Christians’

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has threatened to launch attacks against Nigeria in response to alleged anti-Christian violence. He said he had given the Department of War instructions to “prepare for possible action.”

Trump threatened to immediately stop providing any assistance to the African nation “if the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians.”

Trump continued, “without naming any organizations or alleged “atrocities” that the US might be referring to, saying that it “may very well go into that now disgraced country, “blazing,” to completely eradicate the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

“I hereby instruct our Department of War to get ready for possible action.” We’ll launch an attack that will be swift, vicious, and sweet, just like terrorist thugs attack our Christian enemies! WARNING: “Better Move Faster” The NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT he wrote.

Trump’s threat was not immediately addressed by the Nigerian government.

The US president made the announcement via social media that Nigeria would be added to the Department of State’s “Countries of Particular Concern,” a body established to monitor religious persecution around the world.

Right-wing lawmakers and other prominent US politicians have made the accusation that Nigerian violent clashes are a result of a “Christian genocide” campaign in recent months.

Experts claim that there has been no “Christian genocide” because human rights organizations have urged the Nigerian government to do more to combat the country’s unrest. The country has been the target of deadly attacks by Boko Haram and other armed groups.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued a statement a few hours before Trump’s threat, underscoring that his government “continues to address security challenges that affect citizens across religions and regions.”

The government’s repeated and sincere efforts to protect the freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians are not taken into account, Tinubu said on Saturday, noting that the characterization of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our country’s reality.

“Nigeria does not encourage religious persecution. Nigeria has constitutional safeguards in place to protect people of all faiths, the statement continued.

“Our administration is determined to work with the United States government and the international community to advance understanding and cooperation in the protection of communities of all faiths.”

The ministry of foreign affairs in Nigeria’s foreign affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, who emphasized the country’s commitment to protecting all of its citizens.

Regardless of race, creed, or religion, the Federal Government of Nigeria will continue to support all citizens, according to Ebienfa’s statement on Saturday.

Leaders Hearts in ‘dreamland’ but might it get even better?

Watch highlights from Hearts vs. Dundee

On iPlayer, watch

Perhaps Hearts’ CEO Andrew McKinlay was right when he blatantly declared “we will win the league” before Dundee’s visit with four more goals, three more points, and nine points clear of the Scottish Premiership.

The Tynecastle side are strengthening their credentials with each game as they strive to break the Old Firm’s title duopoly, though he did make the claim that it might not be this season rather one more in the future.

Head coach Derek McInnes was more reserved when he said it was “a good reference point” to complete a quarter of the league season in such a positive position.

Hearts’ victory on Wednesday on their way to Paisley made it possible for Celtic to close the gap to six.

However, his team extended their lead with a 4-0 victory over Dundee as the reigning champions were out on League Cup duty this weekend.

And McInnes acknowledged that, if we had won today, the St. Mirren point would be brilliant and significant.

Can we be above Celtic before we play them, we asked players a few weeks ago. ‘. Can we then become the league’s top team after the opening round of games? ‘.

We think there is more to us, they say.

The first eleven games featured heart-pounding statistics.

McInnes’ side are one win away from reaching the milestone that they did at the start of the 2005-2006 campaign with 29 points, but they do not currently have a megalomaniac owner ready to fire the manager.

Hearts is the division’s only unbeaten side in their last 15 Premiership games, which is their longest unbeaten streak in more than ten years.

No side has let them score, and they have at least once in each of those 15 games, which is their best run in a decade.

A striker is reborn in Lawrence Shankland. The Scotland international won seven Premiership titles in his third game against Dundee, propelling him to the top of the charts. His overall ranking of 10 already surpasses that of the previous season.

Hearts graphic

The team also completed 610 passes on Saturday, which is their highest total in a league game this season, with midfielder Cammy Devlin completing 109 passes, which is the team’s highest total this season.

Although everything appears to be moving in the right direction, McInnes claimed that the squad is “getting stronger” and that “we feel there is a little more in us.”

The bedrock for many of our results has been the clean sheets, he continued, “We have good wide players, we have midfielders who control the game.”

“We don’t always find that balance, but we do seem to find it.”

By allowing injury niggles to plague new cult hero forward Claudio Braga and established defenders Craig Halkett and Stephen Kingsley, McInnes acknowledged that “we took a bit of a risk.”

However, the fact that Braga’s replacement, Pierre Landry Kabore, scored the team’s first two Hearts goals, another indication of how strong the squad is, helped by their summer collaboration with Tony Bloom and his Jamestown Analytics team.

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to play this video.

Champions League music will be playing at some point here, according to the statement.

It’s no wonder McKinlay spoke to BBC 5 Live in such a hushed manner before the kickoff.

The chief executive declared, “It’s dreamland and we’re enjoying it.” The two large teams that dominate in Scottish football are criticized, and there has only been one dominant team in the last ten years.

It’s fantastic for Scottish football, but Hearts is also fantastic. Let’s make the most of it because we were bottom of the league last year and are now at the top.

With interim leadership from Martin O’Neill and the multi-trophy champion playing in hand, Celtic have a game in hand. Rangers, 14 points adrift in fourth place, will hope for a revival under Danny Rohl, their new head coach.

McKinlay, however, is encouraged by Bloom’s influence in Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise and Brighton.

We can keep going because we’re not just here for a short while, he continued. When we consider how the analytics has worked well at other clubs, Tony has a lot of belief.

“We genuinely believe that this opportunity is fantastic.” Although I’m not saying that we’ll win the league this year, this is not our only chance, though.

We think we’re doing something really good here, and we anticipate that as the seasons progress.

We’re confident that Champions League music will be playing here at some point because USG were almost relegated from the second tier and won the [Belgian] league within seven years.
