Inside Mel B’s wedding as pals feared Rory McPhee would be ‘left at the altar’

A guest who attended Mel B’s wedding to Rory McPhee over the weekend has revealed he feared that the groom would be left at the altar as the singer was late

Melanie Brown’s wedding guest feared her husband would be left at the altar due to her being late. Over the weekend, the Spice Girls icon married her long-term fiancée, Rory McPhee, at a stunning ceremony held at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The 50-year-old chart topper looked stunning as she wore a figure-hugging classic white gown after arriving in a white Rolls-Royce car. Meanwhile, her husband, Rory, arrived with his parents and brother as he rocked a traditional Scottish kilt, apparently wearing it fully traditionally.

However, Melanie was delayed arriving at the ceremony, leaving Dave Hughes fearing that she might not turn up. Melanie had been extremely excited about the wedding and struggled to contain her joy whenever she spoke about it.

Dave, who worked with Melanie on the Australian version of The Masked Singer, was one of several high-profile guests at the ceremony, held at the OBE Chapel, also known as St. Faith’s Chapel at the London landmark. He said that he and his wife, Holly, had been “stoked” to attend the wedding.

“Mel was half an hour late,” he told the Daily Mail. He went on to add: “I was slightly concerned Rory was gonna be left at the aisle in his kilt – no undies and no bride. But she turned up! Mel’s little dog was entrusted to bring the ring down the aisle but she got lost and had to be chased around the chapel. Funny moment!”

But despite being excited to attend the ceremony, Dave almost missed his chance. He received the invite from Melanie’s wedding planner when he was appearing on the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in South Africa, and only found the email after he left the jungle.

Each year, only a select number of people are allowed to marry at St. Paul’s and thanks to Melanie being awarded an MBE for her services to charity work supporting Women’s Aid, she was one of them. The cathedral states that they are able to marry people who have an OBE, the order of St Michael and St George and those who hold a British Empire Medal and their children.

Melanie was walked down the aisle by James Steen, the husband of Louise Grannon, Melanie’s biographer. While her now husband, Rory, was supported at the alter by his best man, brother, Jordan McPhee.

Melanie was supported by her bandmate, Emma Bunton, just days after the Mirror revealed why she was the only Spice Girl attending the ceremony. There had been reports that both Geri Horner and Lady Victoria Beckham had been snubbed but a source close to the band revealed to me that this wasn’t the case.

“There’s no snub; the girls are all on friendly terms with one another, but it’s no secret that Geri is busy with Christian at Formula One, and Victoria is extremely busy with her fashion brand,” my mole said. Geri was at the British Grand Prix with her husband, while Melanie C, known as Sporty Spice, was performing in Rødovre, eastern Denmark, and Victoria had commitments with her fashion business.

Emma, known as Baby Spice, delighted those in attendance by singing at the ceremony. She told the Mirror: “I am so excited to be here, I can’t wait for the wedding.” Leeds-born Melanie worked very closely with London-based Evelie Bridal and Josephine Scott to design the georgette crepe gown, which showcased her gym-honed physique in a corset bodice. Her beautiful gown featured draping, which hugged her silhouette and flowed freely into a dramatic train.

Meanwhile, a detachable jacket was decorated with hand-embellished pearl constellations across the high neckline, with the long-sleeved jacket framing her shoulders and adding a regal touch to her gown, in true St Paul’s etiquette.

Inside Prince Harry’s secret ‘struggles’ since quitting Royal Family for marriage

A royal expert has claimed Prince Harry continues to face a ‘ struggle ‘ five years after he and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, embarked on their new life in the US

It’s been more than five years since Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, stunned Brits by stepping down as senior working members of the Royal Family.

However, an expert reckons the Duke of Sussex is still facing a “struggle” to find his place beyond the gilded gates of Buckingham Palace, especially in terms of “trying to be a breadwinner” for his wife and children.

Things have inarguably been eventful in the Sussex household since the Duke and Duchess swapped rainy Balmoral retreats for celeb hangouts in sunny Montecito. But has this markedly different pace of life proven to be everything the prince hoped for?

In various snaps shared via Meghan’s recently activated Instagram account, she and Harry appear to be enjoying an idyllic life in California with children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

But according to Royal historian Marlene Koenig, the father of two, who previously served as a soldier in Afghanistan, could be missing out on professional fulfilment.

Ms Koenig told US Weekly: “I’m not sure if Harry has regrets about leaving, as he is determined to build a new life in the US.

” But he hasn’t been entirely successful, especially in terms of earning money for the family. That seems to have fallen on Meghan. “

Business-savvy Meghan is regarded as the Sussex ‘ breadwinner ‘ by some

The pair got candid in their bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they made it clear they were keen to strike out on their own. Further revelations followed in their 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan.

Harry, 40, went on to publish his ghostwritten memoir Spare, which burst onto bestseller lists at the start of 2023. The Invictus Games founder also went on to take a position with tech startup BetterUp.

Meanwhile, Meghan, 43, showed off her culinary skills in a lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, in addition to her various podcasting pursuits, including the star-studded Confessions Of A Female Founder.

The former actress, who rose to fame playing Rachel Zane on Suits, has also shown entrepreneurial zeal through her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which stocks products such as raspberry spread and herbal teas.

In Ms Koenig’s view, the role of” breadwinner “has fallen on the shoulders of business-savvy Meghan, with the fifth in line to the throne now playing a” supporting role”.

Ms Koenig reflected:” He was always expected to play a supportive but not a supporting role. He may be comfortable in his California home with his wife and two adorable children, but what he hasn’t found yet is the comfort of a success outside at home. “

With this in mind, Ms Koenig compared Harry’s situation with that of his elder brother, Prince William, now the Prince of Wales and King in Waiting.

She argued:” One brother has found his role and knows what he has to do to prepare for his future. The other brother has yet to find the right balance for a successful career away from what he was raised to be. “

Jeremy Clarkson’s daughter Emily has taken drastic measures to protect her family as online trolls attacked her personal life online. In recent weeks influencers and celebrities have opened up about the toll online gossip site Tattle Life has taken on their lives, with personal lives, cruel comments and addresses being shared on the platform.

Since Tattle Life’s anonymous owner was outed in a Northern Irish court last month, victims of the vicious forum openly spoken out about the impact it’s had on them. Jeremy Clarkson’s eldest daughter is among those speaking out after she resorted to hiring a private investigator to help uncover the trolls targeting her and her family.

Speaking on her podcast Should I Delete That? with co-host Alex Light, Emily said the gossip site had left her “broken” and the cyberbullying got to bad she needed help stopping the abuse. Emily said: “Tattle has been the biggest thorn in our sides. You and I, Al, have genuinely been heartbroken by this, it’s affected me to the point where I’ve had to block it on all devices”.

Tattle, which attracted 12 million visitors a month has been around for nearly a decade, and was originally created as an open platform for discussion, but has been known as a “troll site” attacking celebrities and internet personalities.

Emily, who is an author, is just one of thousands of people being trolled by anonymous Tattle users and the 30-year-old said her pregnancy with her second child, Xanthe was ruined by trolls on the site who leaked details of her pregnancy. “I was so broken by it, I haven’t been able to check it since Arlo was born, if they say anything bad about my kids I’m gonna die,” Emily further detailed.

Once her pregnancy had been leaked online by Tattle Life users, Emily got the private investigator to track down the culprit. “It felt really nice to know they could be found, and if you push me too far, I know who you are,” she said. “If I read my thread, I’d think I’m the worst person in the world.

Emily said: “I’m incredibly good at finding people on the internet,” and her investigation skills led her to find one Tattle Life user who referred to Emily as ‘thrush’ as she was ‘annoying’, but on Instagram, the user would message Emily being as nice as pie.

To show her she knew who she was, Emily decided to send her a picture of thrush medication on Instagram and was swiftly left alone by the troll”. She saw it and never replied, “Emily laughed. However she said the comments not only” broke her “but could also have a detrimental effect on her career including work partnerships and relationships as those targeted never get a chance to defend themselves.

This travel-friendly stick gives instant ‘glass skin’ and a healthier-looking complexion

If you’re after radiant skin and defined cheekbones in a flash, our beauty editor thinks she’s found just the thing: an easy-to-use highlighter stick from a celebrity’s beauty brand

‘Glass skin in a stick’(Image: Laura Mulley)

It seems everyone is after ‘glass skin’ at the moment – that dewy, light reflective sheen to the skin, especially on the high points of the face, that’s universally flattering and youthful. And if you don’t know where to start to achieve this, or the thought of applying lots of layers of skincare puts you off, I think I’ve found the solution.

I’ve never been a big fan of highlighter powders, but I’ve recently come across Haus Labs by Lady Gaga’s Bio Radiant Highlighter Balm, and it’s a total game-changer. This handy crayon-like sticks come in six flattering shades, are super-easy to use, and instantly illuminate the skin in such a flattering way.

Haus Labs by Lady Gaga's Bio Radiant Highlighter Balm
From Lady Gaga’s make-up brand(Image: Laura Mulley)

Priced at £30 and available from Sephora, these Bio Radiant Highlighter Balms couldn’t be easier to use: simply draw on over or under make-up where required (I like putting them on the tops of my cheekbones and brow bones), then blend slightly with fingers. They can also be used on the eyelids; the tinted shades in particular look lovely on the lids.

My favourite shade is the transparent Pure Glass, which doesn’t add any shimmer or colour, but instead just a lovely luminous glazed look that instantly improves my face in seconds. It’s very similar to the clear end of Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Highlighter and Balm Duo, £50, or Chanel’s Baume Essential in Transparent, £38, and if you’ve always been a bit scared of using highlighter, this is a great place to start; you really can’t got wrong.

Despite initially thinking it wouldn’t suit me, I also really like the Haus Labs Highlighter Balm in Champagne Quartz, and would use this when doing more of a ‘done’ make-up look.

I’ve been really impressed with Haus Labs since trying its viral B Structural Volumizing + Lengthening Mascara, £27, which is the most lengthening mascara I’ve ever tried – in just a few swipes this mascara had my lashes visibly nearly reaching my eyebrows. It also gives dramatic volume – no natural fluffiness here, this is for full-on, spiders’-legs lashes.

For other cheaper alternatives of cream highlighters, you could try Glossier Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter, £22, the mini version of the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer, £15, or L’Oréal Paris Lumi Le Glass Stick, currently £8.99.
