David Beckham gives update on ‘heartbroken’ Victoria amid bitter family feud

Regarding his 50th birthday celebrations, David Beckham made a shocking comment about Brooklyn’s notable absence. During a surprise meeting with King Charles, the former football player made the remarks.

David Beckham has spoken out about the 50th birthday celebrations at the heart of a simmering feud with his son Brooklyn.

The football legend made the revealing remarks about King Charles’ birthday bash today at the Chelsea Flower Show while making teases about an upcoming project.

Beckham, wearing a new pale pink rose named in honour of the monarch, looked delighted to see Charles and Queen Camilla at the Highgrove Shop stand, where all proceeds go towards the work of The King’s Foundation, for which Mr Beckham has acted as an ambassador for a year.

Camilla inquired about Beckham’s recent 50th birthday celebrations, and Camilla asked about his fashion designer wife Victoria, who she met at a reception to honor the 15th anniversary of Women of the World (WOW), a movement that promotes gender equality around the world.

He updated the royal couple about his wife, saying, “She’s doing very well. This weekend was a lot of fun because I had a busy weekend. And he joked, “I know, finally,” while making reference to his 50th birthday.

According to legend, Charles reportedly asked Beckham, “You got it, didn’t you,” when the King and Queen sent him a birthday gift. Beckham responded, “Thank you, it was very kind,” and Beckham responded, “It was incredible.” Later, Camilla said, “I’m glad you got the roses, Camille!

The meet up comes just days after it emerged the King’s estranged son Prince Harry and David’s oldest child Brooklyn met at a dinner party amid a difficult fall-out between the Beckhams. It is believed that Harry and wife Meghan hosted Brooklyn and his wife Nicola at their Montecito mansion just days after Brooklyn skipped his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations amid a family row.

And with Harry apparently being able to offer his support to Brooklyn, who has since distanced himself from his parents, with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, who is also at odds with him.

It comes as ‘heartbroken’ Victoria Beckham reached out to Brooklyn Beckham on social media earlier today. The former Spice Girls member shared a message for her son as the family rift continues.

Newsnight’s Kirsty Wark breaks silence on replacements as she addresses format change

BBC presenter Kirsty Wark hosted Newsnight alongside Victoria Derbyshire prior to leaving last year, and she’s now addressed the recent news of her ‘permanent’ replacements

Former Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark has addressed the recent news of her replacements. She has shared her advice for them and also discussed the decision to reduce the length of the news and current affairs show’s episodes.

It was announced earlier this month that Paddy O’Connell, 59, and Matt Chorley, 42, have become permanent hosts on the BBC show. They had presented on “an ad hoc basis” since Kirsty, 70, made her final appearance in July last year.

Kirsty – whose departure was announced in 2023 – had fronted the show alongside Victoria Derbyshire, 56. Kirsty hosted on Thursday and Friday nights, with Victoria now continuing to host from Monday to Wednesday each week.

Paddy is now permanently the host on Thursdays, whilst Matt is officially the presenter on Friday nights. The BBC also confirmed in its announcement on May 7 that its political editor Nick Watt will still provide insights, whilst Faisal Islam, 47, and Katie Razzall, 54, will “continue to present regularly”.

Kirsty spoke about the line-up news whilst at the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises. She received BAFTA Fellowship, for her contribution to news and current affairs broadcasting, at the awards ceremony in London on May 11.

Speaking to the Mirror about Paddy and Matt, she shared: “They’re both brilliant journalists.” Kirsty teased on the red carpet: “And Paddy doesn’t do enough work anyway!”

She went on to compliment the wider team too. She told us whilst at the recent event: “It still means that Faisal’s doing it and Katie Razzall’s doing it, who’s the most brilliant media editor, so I think it’s a really, really thriving stable of people.”

Kirsty – who fronted the TV show for more than 30 years – suggested that Newsnight is “still the place” to make sense of the news on weeknights. She said: “I think y’know this is an era where there’s so much going on that Newsnight is still the place to make sense of [it] all at the end of the day.”

She then addressed episodes now being around 10 minutes shorter that they were. The show – which now broadcasts as 30 minute episodes – underwent a “format change” last year after first being announced by the BBC back in 2023.

After praising the show, Kirsty continued: “Okay, it’s cut to 30 minutes. Sad about that in one way but on the other hand you have to move with the times.” She concluded: “Y’know a good 30 minutes is fantastic at 10.30pm.”

Asked to share her advice for Paddy and Matt, the radio host said that the presenters should write down the name of interviewees on a piece of paper, even if they are well known. She said that was her “big piece of advice” for them.

Kirsty told us whilst at the BAFTAs: “You actually might be interviewing the President of America [but] write their name down on a piece of paper. I have seen people come a cropper at the end of an interview when you go ‘and thank you very much …’ on the upward inflection and you realise they’ve forgotten who they’re interviewing in a nanosecond.”

Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper reveals huge clash with ‘incompetent’ Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson had a huge argument with his farmhand Kaleb Cooper after being left the run Diddly Squat Farm all on his own while the 26-year-old headed out on tour

Kaleb Cooper slammed Jeremy Clarkson’s farming abilities

While Clarkson’s Farm stars Kaleb Cooper and Jeremy Clarkson often butt heads while tending to their crops and livestock, the pair came to blows during their latest harvest. Things got so heated between the pair that Kaleb admitted things would run much more smoothly without the ex Top Gear host around.

Jeremy, 64, made the bold decision to buy dilapidated Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire and has seen it turn into a tourist attraction and working farm. He decided to document his success and failures on his popular Amazon Prime series, Clarkson’s Farm, thanks to help from farm assistant Kaleb.

Following the show hitting TV screens, Kaleb has seen himself become a star in his own right. Having never left the UK and dedicating his life to farming, Kaleb has been enticed by the showbiz world.

He recently headed out on a UK tour where he gave fans a deeper insight into farming during his one-man show. However, with Kaleb travelling the nation it left Jeremy alone to man the farm, as well as his pub.

Kaleb admitted the tour was “great” yet leaving Jeremy alone wasn’t the best idea. When harvest rolled around, the pair were left butting heads thanks to what Kaleb calls Jeremy’s “incompetence”.

“Jeremy and I argued quite a bit in harvest because it was so stressful for me trying to do my very best again as a contractor,” he said.

“It was pretty tough mentally. The problem with the harvest was because I’m still young, I’m 26, I think a lot of people can doubt me sometimes. And I doubt myself sometimes because I think everyone does ask themselves if they’re doing things right.”

He admitted that Jeremy “really enjoys” the harvest, yet “he’s a pain”. Kaleb brutally confessed: “Life would be easier if he wasn’t there during harvest, just because he’s a bit incompetent.”

Despite Kaleb’s harsh words, it seems Jeremy had to agree as he said solo farming was “a slow-motion accident”. Jeremy continued: “That, in terms of farming was my big wake-up call.”

In the trailer for the new series, Jeremy had to hire a new farmhand as Kaleb headed on tour. The teaser saw Clarkson set out to buy a pub that will reignite his farm-to-fork restaurant vision.

It comes after the council shut down his Oxfordshire restaurant after it was allegedly opened without planning permission. The series also follows Cooper, 26, as he embarks on his nationwide tour before returning to his role as farm manager.

Clarkson says in the trailer: “I want to make it plain that I am absolutely thrilled to bits for Kaleb, but he has left me just a little bit in the lurch.”

After explaining that he needs a farmhand, Clarkson is seen questioning a new member of staff who admits she has never seen the programme.

The fourth instalment of the series will launch globally on Prime Video May 23. Episodes one to four will be available from May 23, episode five to six from May 30, and episode seven to eight from June 6.

David Beckham beams with King and Queen after Harry and Meghan’s dinner with son Brooklyn

Football icon David Beckham kept his spirits high as he chatted to King Charles and Queen Camilla following the setback his son Brooklyn met up with Prince Harry amid their fallout

David Beckham has rubbed shoulders with royalty following his rumoured shock at his eldest son Brooklyn’s dinner with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The football icon, 50, attended the Chelsea Flower Show today were he was seen chatting to King Charles, who also has a strained relationship with his son.

His world has been rocked in recent weeks by rumours of a family fallout with his son Brooklyn. The 26-year-old failed to attend any of David’s 50th birthday celebrations earlier this month, despite flying in from Los Angeles with wife Nicola Peltz.

Amid the rift, many compared Brooklyn and Nicola to Prince Harry and Meghan. Things heated up even more when it emerged the royal couple had attended an intimate dinner with Brooklyn and Nicola.

The meeting is said to have ‘blindsided’ David and Victoria, 51, who famously cut ties the pair after they reportedly accused Victoria of leaking stories about Meghan to the press – something she has always denied.

David seemed able to put the drama to one side as he met with King Charles and Queen Camilla. He was seen engaged in conversation with the royals at the annual gardening event.

The former England ace looked smart in a beige suit and blue shirt, having served as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation for almost a year. David, who is famously said to be keen to get a Knighthood, signed up to the foundation in June last year.

He attended the flower show on behalf of the Harmony charity and met the King and Queen at the Highgrove Shop stand.

Last week, it was claimed Harry – who is also at loggerheads with his father, King Charles and brother Prince William – was reportedly also able to offer his ‘unwavering support’ to Brooklyn amid the family fallout.

But David is still said to be ‘fuming’ about Harry’s accusation and Brooklyn was well aware of his parent’s hurt over the subject. The meeting, said to have been at the home of Nickelodeon and Paramount CEO Brian Robbins, who is a neighbour of the Sussexes, is not thought to have gone down well with the Beckhams.

A source told the Daily Mail : “David and Victoria had no idea about the meeting, leaving them blindsided that their errant offspring had joined the ‘other side’ in what appears to be just the latest jibe at his parents.

“In fact, not only did the Beckhams not know of the event, those in their circles struggled to believe that Brooklyn and Nicola would agree to meet up with Harry and Meghan, having snubbed five of David’s 50th birthday celebrations. It was, they say, a particularly cruel blow.”

Quite why Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, were invited to the intimate dinner isn’t clear. Though it has been hinted it’s likely because his father David recently sold his TV football chat show, Beckham & Friends Live, to Paramount+.

A source claimed the invitation was sent out way ahead of the Beckham family feud becoming public knowledge.

It seemed Harry and Meghan wanted to set the record straight on the meeting, as a source insisted they did not invite Brooklyn and Nicola directly.

They told PEOPLE : “While it was an intimate gathering, there were several additional guests, including VIPs and film executives. Brooklyn and Nicola had a wonderful time and found Harry and Meghan to be particularly kind, caring and generous.”

‘I’ve been on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet – here’s what you don’t see’

As the second week of Cannes Film Festival kicks off, we take a look inside the iconic red carpet stars such as Jennifer Lawrence and Pedro Pascal walk down, and the less glam side of it.

The Cannes Film Festival red carpet may look like a glamour-fest, but after experiencing the bustle of the busy area, it’s not always so luxurious.

When it comes to the famous red carpet in Cannes, there are some very strict rules in place, including a ‘ no pictures ‘ policy – ruling out that perfect shot if you’re not chosen by the herd of professional photographers.

Many do get around this rule by sneakily taking a selfie, but you’ll need to be quick so the quick acting security don’t catch you.

While it does feel very chic walking up Palais De Festival’s iconic red steps, it’s unlikely you’ll find yourself posing alongside Eva Longoria or Bella Hadid, with the celebs having priority on the carpet and then taking a reserved seat near the front of the theatre inside.

The iconic red carpet is closed during the afternoon to prepare for celebs to walk down it during premiere’s, with staff often seen making sure it’s picture perfect

With the festival sponsored by BMW, there are plenty of the brand’s chic blacked out vehicles on standby to pick stars such as Tom Cruise up and drop them off right outside the carpet entrance. But for everyone else, it’s not such a smooth process.

Having a ticket is one thing, but finally getting on the carpet is another, with lengthy lines forming before the beginning of each premiere. If you’re hoping to attend a big premiere such as Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning or tonight’s Eddington – which features several Hollywood stars – getting a ticket is near impossible.

If you’re dedicated, refreshing the official Cannes ticketing system every 15 minutes in the 24 hour lead up to a premiere might serve you well. But if that doesn’t work, you can try your luck in the ‘ last minute line’, where spare seats are given out on a first come, first served basis.

Cannes red carpet
Security have a strict ‘ no selfie ‘ policy, which you can get around if you’re speedy

And when I say first come, this often means hopeful attendees arriving to the line up to ten hours before the premiere begins.

I’d say to wear something comfortable if you’re going to be sitting all of that time, but the red carpets strict black tie dress code means you’ll need to be in your full glam for the whole wait.

Some even try their luck outside of the theatre by spending the day holding up signs requesting unneeded tickets, but I can’t say I saw a successful transaction take place on that front.

While the sea of suited photographers may not be screaming your name on the carpet, it’ll still be a fun experience either way, and one you won’t forget quickly.

Gary Lineker ‘was right to apologise’ Downing Street say amid star’s early BBC exit

Following a lot of backlash from his social media posts, Gary Lineker apologized for his actions and announced he would leave his BBC presenting position early.

Downing Street has had its say on the Gary Lineker saga after the BBC presenter announced he is leaving his role with the organisation. The former footballer, 64, issued an apology as he announced he was quitting his position following a row over a post many deemed antisemitism.

Earlier this week Lineker spoke out on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and shared a pro-Palestine video on his Instagram account. The upload featured a rat emoji from the campaign group, Palestine Lobby. Lineker swiftly deleted the post and issued an apology soon after, but was met with huge backlash online.

He has now announced he will leave the organisation at the end of this football season. Lineker was due to finishing presenting Match of the Day this season but front BBC’s World Cup coverage in 2026 – which will no longer be the case.

Downing Street also addressed his decision, stating in a statement that the former sports star had made a “significant contribution” to the BBC. However, they claimed it was crucial that the broadcaster uphold the “highest standards.”

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “Specifically in relation to the social media post by Gary Lineker, that was clearly completely unacceptable and it’s right that he’s apologised. Staffing matters are obviously one for the BBC and for the individual involved, but we’ve always said that it’s important for the BBC to uphold the highest standards as the public would expect.

Gary Lineker has obviously made a significant contribution to the BBC’s broadcasting over the past 20 years, and I believe we should have known when he first announced his departure from the organization.

Lineker claimed in a social media post on Monday that he believed that stepping aside would be the best move for everyone in light of the circumstances. He continued, “I’m forever sorry for the pain and suffering caused.”

Hello everyone, some personal news, he said. An emoji that has awful connotations appeared in a post I shared last week on Instagram. Sadly, I missed the emoji. I would never, ever share it if I had.

“I immediately deleted the post and apologized as soon as I was made aware.” I once more regret the pain and suffering that resulted, as I am aware that I should have been more careful.

I’ve always championed minorities, humanitarian issues, and antisemitism, which I detest in every way possible. There is no place for it. I believe that stepping down from BBC duties immediately and not participating in the FA Cup or World Cup of the following year is best for everyone involved.

My final performance will be this weekend’s Match of the Day. Working for the BBC for 30 years has been a pleasure and a great honor.

“The BBC and I have a long and wonderful relationship, but this is the right time to leave,” I said.

I’ll see you all on Sunday, thank you also to each of you for your unmatched love and support for so long.
