Singer-turned-actor Peter Andre has hit back at critics slamming his latest movie Jafaican, in which he stars as a faux gangster. The heartthrob behind Mysterious Girl takes centre stage in Fredi Nwaka’s latest comedy romp – playing hustler Gary Buckle.
The character attempts to make a quick buck by pretending to be Jamaican and wearing a fake dreadlock wig.
While Jafaican has garnered positive reviews since its unveiling, the flick has been marred by accusations of cultural appropriation and being labelled “tone-deaf” by some viewers. Nevertheless, Peter Andre rebuffed the backlash aiming at his latest venture.
The pop icon advises skeptical people, saying, “I think it’s very simple to criticize something based on a trailer. I would advise you to “go and watch the movie first,” so you can see the context and what the movie is about.

He continued to tell the Daily Star: “A critic should also be able to criticise, so I understand how it is.”

Andre encouraged naysayers to watch the movie before making a decision, acknowledging that it won’t appeal to everyone. Peter defended his work, saying, “I believe it is really important for everyone to have their own opinions.
I don’t believe it’s appropriate to just assume everyone will approve of what you’re doing, but I’ve always said, “Don’t do that, you shouldn’t do that, that’s not the right song to release, that’s not a good video clip,” I’ve always said.
The actor-turned-thespian, who has appeared in David Brent: Life on the Road, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and Keith Lemon: The Film, explained why he chose to embrace his most recent role.
He resisted being influenced by critics and said, “I would never have accomplished anything if I sat and listened to everyone telling me what to do.” Sometimes, I believe, you just need to push yourself and leave your comfort zone.
A London crook must gather £35,000 to cover his grandmother’s care home expenses in order to pay for her misfortunes in the film. Gary heads off to Jamaica when he learns of a heist that might solve all of his problems. There, he finds himself spiraling downward.
Gary finds himself in a tight spot as locals accept his portrayal of Denton “Kill Man” Powell to snag a deal. In a few ODEON Cinemas, Jafaican is currently showing.

Peter’s kids Princess and Junior were by his side at a recent a red carpet screening for his latest film. The event in London saw the family attend the Genesis Cinema for the private VIP event, posing for photographs ahead of the much-discussed film’s debut.
Peter defended the criticism when he spoke about the film’s promotion on Australian TV earlier in the month: “Well, I mean, I think it’s good to get all kinds of feedback. Although this is not my first lead role, I’ve done many other things before. I’ve played various characters on all of them.

The post-pandemic anxiety battle that made her afraid to perform in public and nearly missing out on the Grammys, where she won two golds, has been addressed by Miley Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus has opened up about the post-pandemic anxiety battle that made her uneasy in public.
Singer Miley Cyrus has revealed that she suffered with anxiety following the Covid-19 pandemic, admitting she was worried about getting back out in public after being locked away for so long.
While the pop star may appear to be oozing with confidence from the outside, she shared in a new interview that lockdown took it’s toll on her sense of self and even left her questioning whether to go to the 2024 Grammy’s, where she was awarded the coveted Record of the Year gong for her acclaimed album Flowers and the Best Pop Solo Award.
Miley told The Zane Lowe Show that she wasn’t going to the Grammys after explaining that she attended the award show for “healing.” I knew I wouldn’t be performing at the Grammys because everyone was experiencing post-pandemic anxiety.

And it felt like a shock to have to spend a few years in front of Oprah on the stage. And I was almost unable to do that.
And I began hosting intimate events at the Chateau Marmont, which I personally selected, and I celebrated the Grammy nominations with the people who were close to me.

She continued, “But it was just so bittersweet because I felt like giving in to excuses the entire night.” One, I was afraid, and there was fear. However, I don’t believe I ever considered how important winning would be to me.
Miley recently cleared up rumours of a feud with her mum Tish(Image: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for The)
The rare interview comes as Miley recently cleared up rumours she was in a family feud with her mum, Tish, assuring that the pair are tighter than ever.
Rumours began to swirl after Tish reportedly seemingly unfollowed her daughter on Instagram, but clearing things up, the latter put it down to a technical error.
My mama and I are too close to ever get in the way of conversation, according to my rumor-mongering. My closest friend is her. She unfollowed me, which is simple, coincidental, and uninteresting, as she does with most moms, said Miley on Instagram.
Tish echoed this sentiment, saying, “I didn’t.” lol I don’t know what happened. The [pink heart emoji] problem has been fixed, but I have no idea how that happened.
Prince William traveled to Leith in Scotland to unveil a new partnership with a local football team, marking the most recent stage of an ambitious project to transform community spaces across the UK.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are rolling out an ambitious project to transform community spaces across the UK, using a mixture of grants and donating personal time from their Royal Foundation. William and Kate have identified several locations around the country which will benefit from financial backing and the creation of new task forces which will benefit from expert advice and guidance from their team.
The aim is to create a network of businesses to invest in local projects to upgrade local facilities from community hubs to sports centres, which will be announced in the coming months. William formally announced a new partnership with a regional football team that was referred to as a “blueprint for the future” during today’s program launch in Leith.

Street Soccer Scotland – founded by former professional footballer David Duke – delivers free football-themed training and personal development programmes for socially disadvantaged adults and young people across Scotland. The coalition aims to use the power of football to support people experiencing issues such as poor mental health, addiction, homelessness and isolation, fostering a sense of belonging for the most vulnerable in the Leith community.
Mr Duke turned his life around after becoming homeless 20 years ago for three years, following issues with depression after the death of his father in 2001. He is currently the CEO of William’s Homelessness Foundation, which launched an ambitious project to end homelessness in the UK in 2023. He is also the head of the soccer program.
The Royal Foundation has provided funding to help the charity revitalize its existing community center and develop a new “sustainable social impact” vision. Upon arrival at Leith Community Centre, a ward in Edinburgh, William heard how the organisation has delivered free football-themed training and personal development programmes for socially disadvantaged adults and young people across Scotland since 2009.

The organisation has to date helped more than 25, 000 people going through their own struggles, such as addiction, homelessness, mental health and poverty. Williams was treated to flamenco dancing in football drills and heard about how young people are implementing change in their communities.
The prince was disappointed when the goalie saved his first shot, but he didn’t need any encouragement to try a penalty shoot-out. But William managed to kick the ball into the net on his second attempt, prompting loud cheers. As he raised his hands in agreement with the team behind him, he turned to the other team and said, “That’s it, I’m done now.”
The prince also stopped to talk with some of the Leith-area’s street soccer players, some of whom have gone through homelessness, and heard how the new partnership will help socially disadvantaged adults and young people.
The Royal Foundation will announce a range of partnerships across England, Scotland, and Wales in the coming months, which will form the umbrella of its new social enterprise.

Building on their expertise from initiatives like Kate’s work in the development of young children and William’s environmental Earthshot Prize Awards and homelessness project, Homewards, Kensington Palace said the couple will use their “convening superpower” to unite communities.
Leith Community Centre will continue to be a vital part of the community, run by local volunteers and staff, offering a home to a variety of diverse activities, including language, dance and art classes, history groups, martial arts, and a variety of youth clubs and family crafts.
William and Kate met families at Aros Hall, a beloved community space on Mull, one of two places on Mull to receive a grant from The Royal Foundation Community Impact Programme, while they were on a trip there last month. Aros Hall is being renovated to give residents of all ages new opportunities to come together and participate in activities that promote their health and wellbeing as a result of the grant.
A royal source said: “Today in Leith, we saw the Prince doubling down on his promise to deliver impact to communities up and down the country. His goal is to leave a lasting impression in the communities he visits.

” The Prince and Princess are committed to delivering a modern and fresh approach. The Prince has discussed royal with a small r, and it believes more than ever that is being seen today.
The crusade for William is one of the pillars of his public duty, having seen firsthand the benefits of access to grassroots football during his presidency and patronage of the Football Association. Mr Duke said: “We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the Royal Foundation, which has already opened so many doors for us.
“On this project, Prince William has been super passionate, engaging and really wants to use his position as a force for good to help the local community.
I’ve personally witnessed how much of his voice travels when I collaborate with him on both his homelessness project and Street Soccer. He brings bags loads of enthusiasm to the table and it really is infectious. Leith’s project will be a true blueprint for the future, not just in Scotland but all over the UK.

“It was great to have William here today. The area has undergone some significant changes over the past few decades, and there are definitely places that need some love. However, the locals are decent and genuinely committed to the community. The prince’s visit shows everyone that people do care”.
Leith United will be a collaboration between local businesses, the Leith Community Centre, and YMCA Edinburgh as part of the center’s revitalization.
In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “The Prince and Princess of Wales want to support the people in places with the potential to revive communities where it’s needed most, celebrating and championing the most inspiring, boldest and bravest individuals across our four nations who are determined to build a better life for themselves, each other, their communities and society, and who by doing so, inspire others to take action in their local area too.

Community spaces are increasingly important for promoting local well-being and resilience. With the intention of serving as a model for innovative practices in partnerships and community asset management that can be applied to other communities across the UK, Leith United hopes to establish a framework for sustainable funding that other communities can utilise and learn from.
David added:” Working with The Royal Foundation provides a unique opportunity to champion and further vital work supporting the community in Leith. More than ever, community spaces are essential, and they can provide a lifeline for people of all ages. Local residents will be able to feel a part of the community where they live by allowing them to belong, form friendships, access services, and feel welcome.
“It is really special to be back in Leith where the Street Soccer Scotland journey began, helping people to find support through the power of football”.

Jamie Lee Curtis
American actress and film producer Jamie Lee Curtis, 66, is best known for playing Laurie in the Halloween films franchise, but she is also a children’s book author and has patented a diaper with a wipe-holding pocket. Called Dipe and Wipe, it’s a disposable diaper with a moisture-proof pocket containing wipers, which she invented in 1988. Jamie came up with the idea after her own experiences of caring for children, but although it’s a great concept, the invention itself is not commercially available and was not designed for mass production.

Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen, the actor known for his Hollywood roles including The Great Escape and The Sand Pebbles, designed bucket seats and even patented one in 1970. The bucket seat, which was used in the Ford Mustang for the movie Bullitt, was designed to keep the American actor and his doubles safe during filming, particularly the car chase scene. While he improved the look of the seat, it was not a groundbreaking invention, as bucket seats had existed previously.

Not only was Hedy Lamarr a Hollywood sex symbol in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, starring in films like Samson and Delilah (1949) and My Favorite Spy (1951) – she was also a pioneering inventor. Known for her beauty and intelligence, it was her invention of frequency-hopping technology that later formed the basis for modern WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. The Austrian-American actress studied engineering and top-secret weapons systems. In 1942, she and a partner won a patent for a frequency-switching radio system to control torpedoes, which now forms the basis of wifi and Bluetooth technology.
Christie Brinkley
Beyond her iconic modelling career, where she appeared on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers in 1979, 1980, and 1981, Christie is known for her other talents. She had a starring role in National Lampoon’s Vacation and has appeared in music videos for her then-husband, Billy Joel. But she’s definitely not just a pretty face. Prince
In 1984, Prince became the first singer to simultaneously have a number-one film, album and single in the US, with the film Purple Rain, its soundtrack, and his first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single ‘When Doves Cry’. Considered to be one of the best musicians of all time, in 1992, he also got the thumbs-up for a design patent for a portable keyboard instrument – a custom keytar called ‘Purpleaxxe’. This allowed musicians to play while moving around the stage. Keytars existed before Prince’s Purpleaxxe, and while his design was unique and used in live shows, it didn’t become a dominant instrument across the music industry.

Michael Jackson
Did you know that Michael Jackson invented a type of gravity-defying shoe that allowed him to lean forward and look like he was defying gravity? The King of Pop devised a post that popped up from the stage and locked into his shoe, allowing him to perform his trademark move of leaning forward at an alarming angle. It’s what he used to execute his signature dance move in ‘Smooth Criminal’ which reached number 8 on the official charts in 1988, returning to the Top 40 in 2009 after his death.

Winston Churchill
Winston Churchill rallied Britain and the Allied forces to victory against Nazi Germany in the years leading up to 1945, but in his spare time he invented the onesie! He designed a one-piece green velvet jumpsuit to wear in the Downing Street bunker during air raids, which he called his ‘siren suit’. It’s reported that he loved it because it was easy to slip on when the air raid siren sounded, so much that he ordered 12 of them.

Chris Brown has broken his silence since being released from prison earlier today and given bail. Just days after being accused of grievous bodily harm, the American singer was released on bail. On February 19, 2023, Brown, 36, is accused of allegedly using a bottle to harm music producer Abe Diaw at London’s Tape nightclub.
The singer took to Instagram moments after leaving HMP Forrest Bank in Salford to declare, “From the cage to the stage!!! “Breezybowl” Brown appears to be making a bold statement about the fact that his bail conditions allow him to fulfill his tour commitments and perform across Europe prior to his court date of the following month.
After his bail was set at the prison earlier today, Brown was pictured being taken away from the facility this afternoon while seated in a sleek silver Mercedes Benz Vito. The vehicle with the recently released singer and his entourage zoomed past as snappers waited for a glimpse.
Brown pleaded for bail and paid a $5 million security deposit to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office upon receiving bail.
The American singer posted this Instagram message shortly after being released from prison today (Instagram).
The Run It! Before his release from custody, Hitmaker’s team was seen preparing to meet him, with one member likely to change into the musician’s post-release outfit with a JD Sports bag and white trainers.
After making his way to Manchester Airport to prepare for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX 20th anniversary tour, Brown was detained on May 15 at the Lowry Hotel in Salford. He was due to play across the UK in cities like Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, London, and Cardiff before the arrest was made.
However, Chris’s tour across Europe was put in jeopardy before taking the stage in the UK after being remanded in custody, initially until his next court appearance on June 13. However, Southwark Magistrates Court granted the R&, B star a bail on May 21.
Judge Tony Baumgartner confirmed that Brown’s scheduled tour dates could still go ahead despite not showing up in court. The musician was given bail during the hearing.
A defendant may be forfeited if they violate bail conditions by paying a £5 million security fee to the court.
Chris Brown has spoken publicly since receiving bail (Getty Images).
Chris was detained a day after his arrest, and it was decided that the matter needed to be handled more seriously by the Crown and not handled by magistrates. He only spoke to confirm his name, Christopher Maurice Brown, his birthdate, and address, which he listed as The Lowry Hotel, on Dearmans Place, Salford, at the hearing by wearing plain black pants and a plain black T-shirt.
In contrast to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, Adele Kelly, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, said in a statement earlier this month: “We have authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown, 36, with one count of grievous bodily harm.
On February 19, 2023, the alleged incident took place in London. On May 16 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, he will make his first court appearance. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone involved that this defendant has the right to a fair trial and that criminal proceedings are ongoing against him.
“No reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online that could adversely affect these proceedings is extremely important.” Following the alleged attack, Brown left the United Kingdom and hadn’t returned for two years.
His lawyer, Grace Forbes, argued that he should be released on bail because he was a well-known public figure. The musician proclaimed his 20th anniversary on his CB tour earlier this year. I’m so happy to be able to show this to the world and my amazing fans. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE ALL OF YELLOW’S BEAUTIFUL FACES. IMA TAKE YALL THESE ERAS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY GIVE YALL MY HEART AND SOUL.
