It’s Monday, September 8, and one star sign feels more emotional than usual, as another joins a community group.

There are 12 zodiac signs – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces – and the horoscopes for each can give you the lowdown on what your future holds, be it in work, your love life, your friends and family or more.

These daily forecasts have been compiled by astrologer Russell Grant, who has been reading star signs for over 50 years. From Aries through to Pisces, here’s what today could bring for your horoscope – and what you can do to be prepared.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

Not only are you more impulsive than usual but more emotional too. Don’t be surprised to find yourself reacting strongly to situations. It’s because you’re taking everything to heart. Try to get a more balanced perspective and focus on your long-term goals. A female relative is behaving strangely but for now she will refuse to talk.

Taurus (Apr 21 – May 21)

If you have too much time on your hands, volunteer at a local charity. Get involved in community events or set up a group for like-minded people. You might think about teaming up with a friend or neighbour to start an enterprise that nurtures your charitable spirit.

Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

Today is not ideal for important conversations with your partner or in the family. The atmosphere may be too charged and chaotic, leading to misunderstandings and these will occur very quickly. Delay any important talks. Instead, take it easy and be cautious.

Cancer (June 22 – July 23)

You could be facing problems when numbers don’t add up. A joint bank account will show discrepancies when a regular monthly payment seems to have gone out twice. If you can, steer clear of making any big financial decisions. Some days discussions flow smoothly but today isn’t one of them.

Leo (July 24 – Aug 23)

Be careful about drawing the wrong kind of attention your way. It’s easy for you to shine and highlight your achievements but occasionally this attracts unwanted attention. Should the wrong person get wind of your current activities, they could make things difficult for you in the future.

Virgo (Aug 24 – Sept 23)

Something strange is going on behind the scenes. This will take other people by surprise but you are ready for it. You will feel uneasy and restless but this feeling is only temporary. You’re hoping tomorrow will be a brighter and better day.

Libra (Sept 24 – Oct 23)

An online conversation could get deep and the more you get into it, the more you will notice tension developing. Some people seem to have a strong urge to push their opinions onto others. You realise they believe they are correct but there are other perspectives they haven’t considered. They do not want to hear.

Scorpio (Oct 24 – Nov 22)

Steer clear of crucial talks with your bosses, teachers, and important figures as things could get tricky. Someone might blurt out something they wish they hadn’t. If you find yourself in a tense conversation, remember not to make any rash decisions. Stay calm and think things through.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 – Dec 21)

You’re ready for something different. You could do with some excitement and new experiences. Alter plans already made if these are likely to keep you in the same place for most of the day. Do something to satisfy your need for a change of scenery. Visit a place you haven’t been to before.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 20)

It’s going to be difficult to manage some situations. Even though you would like to be able to do so, you can’t control everything. A confused situation needs clarity. Your personal life may be exposed to authority figures. All you can do is go with the flow and avoid reacting to other people’s critical comments.

Aquarius (Jan 21 – Feb 19)

Someone’s clumsiness will cause problems. While some accidents can’t be helped, you will feel that a few could have been avoided had a housemate or colleague been more careful. You might say or do something you will wish you hadn’t. Staying disciplined will help you avoid such regrets.

Pisces (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

Your usual work routine will face some interruptions, possibly due to a conflict of interests. You might also have to deal with transport breakdowns, computer problems and technical issues. Stay calm and prove how committed you are to completing your work. No one wants to see you sulking.

Coronation Street’s Colson Smith goes ‘full Fort Knox’ as thieves target home

Colson Smith from Coronation Street has been unfortunate to learn that his car was recently broken into in Manchester, but nobody was hurt.

Colson Smith, a star on Coronation Street, is now “full f******* Fort Knox” following a burglary at his home.

Former Coronation Street actor Colson Smith has beefed up security at his Manchester pad after a break-in saw thieves nicking items from his car.

The Celebrity Big Brother star, who portrayed PC Craig Tinker on the ITV soap until the character met a grisly end earlier this year, shared the incident on his podcast, On The Sofa.

He co-hosts the show with former Corrie colleagues Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price. Colson revealed that the robbers made off with a bag full of his cricket kit.

Colson has since “full f*****g Fort Knox” with his home security after the theft, joking to his co-stars, “I’ve gone shark cage over the house.”

When Mick Michaelis’ murder of Craig in May of this year failed to garner widespread support, fans were devastated. Colson declared that he would miss the ITV soap “forever” as his final scene from May 1st, which aired on the program.

The 27-year-old, who has spent 14 years playing police officer Craig Tinker on the show, watched his character go into cardiac arrest after being beaten with a baseball bat by Joe Layton.

Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, Colson said of his departure: “It literally is just working at Coronation Street (that I’ll miss the most) and calling that place my work.

“And it was weird, because when I got asked about highlights, I was trying to think of some of the things we’ve done, and I’ve done some mad things, I’ve met the (late) Queen, and I’ve done all this stuff, but it’s the simple stuff.

“We get an ice cream van, with all your mates, and we sit outside in the car park with the cast, the crew, the production team, the security staff, the cleaners, and we’re all so tight there,” the saying goes.

“They’re kind of the best days to have an ice cream with your friends in the summer,” they say. It’s that craic, and I’ll miss it forever because it’s the stuff I won’t get at any other job.

When asked what he would be doing after that, the actor responded, “It’s very strange leaving something you’ve done for so long, because I think it raises the question, “Who’s Colson?” What is his goal?

I’ve been enjoying sitting in the garden, but I’m aware that I want to work on my own because I enjoy watching television and have discovered this is where I belong.

So I want to spend more time on telly, I want to do more with Colson, so watch this space, and I’ll be happy with whatever. I also have a few live shows coming up, more presenting and more audio content, so I want to spend more time there.

After 15 years of success with One Direction, Simon Cowell and a former co-star will form a new boyband on a brand-new Netflix show.

Simon Cowell is to reunite with a former co-star for a brand new Netflix show. The music mogul, 65, was the king of the talent show format in the late 2000s as he headed up The X Factor and starred alongside Cheryl, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Tulisa amongst a host of others over its lengthy run.

During the long run of the ITV talent show, he discovered stars such as One Direction, Alexandra Burke, Olly Murs, Little Mix as well as scores of others. But before The X Factor began its run in 2004, Simon was actually a judge on Pop Idol, the original series that brought Gareth Gates, Will Young and Zoe Birkett to nationwide attention.

He was on the panel of the Ant and Dec-fronted programme alongside fellow record producer Pete Waterman, who has now revealed that the pair have been working together once again, this time heading up a programme titled The Next Act for the streaming giant, in which they will be on the hunt for a new boyband together.

Pete mentioned the new series, which will be available as a six-parter in December this year, saying, “I have been filming with Simon for the show.

Pete famously created The Hit Factory in the 1980s alongside Matt Aitken and Mike Stock, and they launched pop acts such as Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Sonia to mainstream success.

In the late 1990s, Pete enjoyed further success with dance group Steps, and then joined Pop Idol in 2002 along with Simon, Nicki Chapman and Neil Fox.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he added: “It’s great fun to be doing something together again. We are best mates. I agreed to do it straightaway. If Simon asked me to walk across hot coals, I’d do it!”

Pop Idol was a world-first because it made it possible for viewers to select a newcomer to land a record deal. Following Popstars, which revealed the steps involved in making a band with Hear ‘Say and saw Liberty X, which came in second place, also enjoying chart success.

The following year, viewers watched Popstars: The Rivals, which saw the creation of Girls Aloud as they battled against One True Voice for the Christmas number one.

Following Michelle McManus’ victory, Simon launched The X Factor on the network the following year, ending the Pop Idol franchise. More than ten years of the show were aired.

Pete insisted that he wanted to do it despite being advised against doing it on Pop Idol and acknowledged that Simon and him have a “love hate” relationship that makes everything work on camera.

He remarked, “It was a wonderful time. Everyone had mixed feelings about it. I was told not to do it by my own staff. But I made the effort. I anticipated a laugh when I took Simon on the road.

“I have always loved him with him.” That is what made Pop Idol to exist.

Great North Run 2025: Tommy Fury leads celebrities taking part as he ignores ‘DNF’ fume

The celebrities who took part in this year’s iconic AJ Bell Great North Run included Tommy Fury, Jake Quicken, and Sara Davies among the many participants.

The annual Great North Run this weekend featured a host of celebrities who accompanied over 60 000 runners. As the public pounding the pavement for good and accomplishment once more, the world’s largest half marathon once more took to the streets of Newcastle and the surrounding areas.

The 44th edition of the legendary race, which was first started by former Olympian Sir Brendan Foster, attracted runners of all ages and abilities. And while some people go back in a year, others did their first run.

Tommy Fury, who traveled further north with partner Molly Mae Hague’s father, was one of the first attendees. And after a recent 100-kilometer triathlete, he appeared in high spirits as he posed for pictures and appeared to have brushed off the fume.

Tommy missed out on 30k of cycling because of issues with French road closures, something he did not address on his social media posts, and the situation was so bad that many competitors were left raging as Tommy met Molly-Mae at the finish line of that competition.

But he ran in a crowd that included Jake Quickenden’s likes on Sunday in the North East, and there was no such thing as a shortcut. After his run, the reality TV star later revealed that despite recording a sub-one hour and 30 minutes, he had already set himself a personal best time. He came in at a respectable 1.30 and 25 seconds, though.

Ashley Cain, a fellow reality TV star, and Sara Davies, a local Dragons’ Den star, also participated. By completing a portable DJ set while participating, North East DJ Schak also tried out an unofficial world record attempt for the NSPCC.

And runners were first greeted with cheers from Newcastle United stars Nick Pope and Jacob Murphy, who were kicking off the show.
